We are back after a three month sabbatical from the podcast with now three-time guest Joe Rhodes of The Kniestedt Foundation. The bond that Joe and I have has only grown stronger in the now six or seven years we've known each other and this was a great conversation to dust off the mic with!Partnering for a second year in a row with the Oregon Sportsman's Club, Joe and eight Veteran alumni from the foundation made the trek to Wisconsin in late April and put on a sporting clays fundraiser event. Thanks to our friends at Vortex Optics, Brew Pub Pizza and the musical talents of Chris Kroeze, our guests were greeted with three days of camaraderie, plenty of laughs, a few tears, and full hearts. We wrapped things up with a 3D archery shoot on Sunday and plans are already in motion to make the 2025 weekend our biggest and best one yet.A teacher outside of St. Louis, when Joe isn't instructing the younger generation or spending time with his wife and two children of his own, he's the driving force behind what makes The Kniestedt Foundation tic. With a huge heart for the Military, Veteran and Service Member community, Rhodes finds these weekends as beneficial to his own soul and mental health as the participants do. I share that same feeling and seeing the smiles on the faces of our attendees, knowing that our organizations are providing healing through the outdoors is what fuels us from one event to the next. It's that shared passion and our faith that has brought Joe and I so close and we are both excited about what the future holds for our partnership and the positive life change it will bring to those who need it most.To learn more about The Kniestedt Foundation, visit https://kniestedt.org/ and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. For more information about HHAUSA, learn how you can support our mission, or attend an event, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, tees and hoodies, visit www.hhasports.com
xChris Kroeze is a country music star born and raised in Barron, Wisconsin. After being the runner up on the hit tv show The Voice his career has never been the same. He used to play 250 shows a year at bars and other small venues, now he headlines festivals and fills large theaters like The Pablo Center. Chris was first a guest on the show back in April of 2022, but we figured it would be fun to record a part 2. In this episode we talk about recent life, performing for the troops overseas, dad life, living in Wisconsin, his list of favorites, crushin cans, recording new music, social media struggles, and much more.
I love to talk. I love to write. But sometimes less is more. Starting with today's episode, I am going to shorten these descriptions up and allow the content of the podcasts to speak for themselves.Nearly two years in the making, Mission 24 did not disappoint and the impact will be felt for years, even lifetimes for those in attendance. A bold statement I know but lives were changed forever outside of Madison Wisconsin last weekend as nearly 150 Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, First Responders, Law Enforcement Officers, and civilians came together around archery and the outdoors. From the private tour of the Vortex facility to the 3D archery shoot at Blackhawk Bowhunters to the sporting clays shoot at Oregon Sportsman's Club to the Beast Mode Archery Endurance Run and Chris Kroeze concert at Tyrol Basin, it was a weekend for the ages.So many friends, so many supporters and so many sponsors (thank you Vortex Optics, Mission BBQ, Lottza Mottza Brew Pub Pizza, 1st Phorm Outdoors and The Kniestedt Foundation) made this event possible. Keep late April of 2024 open as we are already planning for next year. If you have never been to an HHAUSA weekend before, this podcast will have you hooked and punching your ticket for Wisconsin faster than you can say cheese curds. So sit back, relax and enjoy the conversation as editor Logan Chartand and I talk about the biggest gathering in our history. For more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com
Picking up a guitar before he ever hopped on a school bus, Chris Kroeze knew from a young age what he wanted to do when he grew up. Becoming so attached to it as a six year old, there's a picture in the family photo album of the little boy falling asleep with one tucked under his arm. Twenty five years later, not much has changed.Married and a father of two, Kroeze still lives in Barron, population 3,659, a small town in Northwestern Wisconsin. Having long been a household name across The Badger State and with a runner up finish on NBC's The Voice a few seasons ago, success hasn't changed Barron's favorite son one bit. Humble, soft spoken and easy to talk to, Chris has all the characteristics of the Mr. Nice Guy that holds the door for you at the neighborhood Kwik Trip but can rock the house at a moments notice. Once he takes the stage, two decades of picking a guitar quickly grab your attention along with a voice that doesn't come around too often.Writing songs that vividly capture life here in the Midwest and bring the listener into the story, you can quickly pick up his musical roots that range from classic country to southern rock. My wife and I watched Kroeze and his band in Wisconsin Rapids last Friday night as they entertained the nearly sold out crowd for close to two hours. With a mix of covers and original music, I saw a man that loved what he did for a living and did it well. Human, a song penned for his finale on The Voice, was my favorite of the evening and I look forward to hearing him play it again in April in an acoustic setting for our HHAUSA weekend outside of Madison. Thanks to longtime friend and HHA supporter Kurt Walbeck of Outdoor Bound TV, we got connected to Kroeze through Brew Pub Lotzza Mottza Pizza. Having travelled abroad many times to entertain the military, he was a natural fit for the crowd at our biggest event to date. I also have to thank Matt "Mottza Matt" Selvig and his team, for putting this show together. An avid outdoorsman, I look forward to getting to know Chris better on a personal level and collaborate more in the future to support our service men and women. Gifted with the God given talent to pick and sing, I appreciate his heart for the Veteran community and encourage anyone that appreciates good music and good people to take in a Chris Kroeze show the next time he's in your area. Here at HHAUSA, we like to support and promote the good guys, and Chris most definitely fits the bill. You can follow Chris on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and check out his website at www.chriskroezemusic.comFor more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com
Our podcast producer and Little Debbie connoisseur Logan Chartrand is back this week to talk more in depth about Mission 24, the first HHAUSA event of 2023 coming up April 28th, 29th and 30th. In what will be the largest weekend in our history, Mission 24 is jammed packed with a two day 3D archery shoot, a sporting clays shoot with partners The Kniestedt Foundation, a Saturday night concert with Chris Kroeze sponsored by Brew Pub Lotzza Motzza Pizza and more. Beastmode Archery Challenge will be holding an Endurance Race on Saturday at Tyrol Basin and 222 Veterans, First Responders and Law Enforcement Officers will get the VIP treatment courtesy of Vortex Optics Friday afternoon to kick things off!Logan and I also chat about the honor of having another film selected to the Badlands Film Festival in Indianapolis at the 2023 ATA Show. Chad Stillman, a previous guest on the podcast, told his story in Blue 22, produced by Sam Ubl and the team over at Chase Nation. We are beyond excited to have Chad on hand that evening and in town to speak at the Target The Heart Prayer Breakfast at the ATA. Good friend Al Quackenbush will be sharing his testimony as well and be joined by Aaron Ritter of Limb-Itless Outdoors. The five of us will be getting together for dinner during our time in Indy in what could turn into a future podcast episode all its own.Speaking of Ritter, he announced his 2nd Annual A3G Initiative Grant January 1st. Started to introduce an amputee into the sport of archery and bowhunting and improve mental health, physical fitness and quality of life, applications are due April 15th. The winner will be receiving their package in Wisconsin at Mission 24 during intermission of the Chris Kroeze show.As we kick off the New Year, I just wanted to thank Logan for his efforts, all of our sponsors, our host clubs, shoot attendees, and all of you that tune in each week to the podcast. 2023 is promising to be our biggest and best year yet and we look forward to sharing all that is happening in our world with you in yours. To get more information or to apply for Aaron Ritter's A3G Initiative Grant, please visit the following link:https://www.limbitlessoutdoors.com/a3g-initiativeFor more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com

Chris Kroeze's is a country music artist based in Barron, Wisconsin. Chris gained worldwide attention when he placed 2nd on the hit tv show The Voice. Chris and I are almost the same age so we naturally already had a bunch of mutual friends and acquaintances so it was really only a matter of time before this interview was going to happen. Despite being recognized everywhere he goes he is still humble as ever. Chris is still just getting started as an artist and you can expect consistent new music and shows for years to come. In this episode we discuss growing up in a small town, singing in front of the whole school for the first time, why music school is helpful, why playing bar shows is important, how to create a fanbase, how to become a full time musician, how to make an album, performing for the troops, giving back, how to billboard a single, Wisconsin living, and so much more.

You know the saying: April showers bring May… events? Well, that's definitely the case, as the Chippewa Valley opens things back up after a year of COVID quarantines, and that's the topic of conversation in episode 8 of the Volume One Podcast. Panelists Christina Wolff and Eric Rasmussen join us on the pod to chat about choo choos (or snazzy new Amtrack trains, for us adults here in the room) slated to hit the Chippewa Valley, a local amateur historian preserving history from the passenger seat of his 1971 Plymouth Satellite, and Farm Technology Days slated to roll into Eau Claire (with highly anticipated performances from Chris Kroeze)! Later we're joined by the incredible Sara Larsen of Downtown Eau Claire Inc., to chat about Creative Economy Month, which celebrates the blossoming creative movement in Eau Claire. Then, we play a thrilling game of “Run the Numbers” with a whole heckuva lotta lambs, “Director's Chair” with dorky movie titles and living sculptures in downtown Eau Claire, and wrap things up with “What's in the Koozie”? It's a silly one, so get into it! Find this and other episodes in both audio and video formats on our site at http://volumeone.org/podcasts (volumeone.org/podcasts).
