They talk about times in their life when they've grumbled against leaders and address some questions from our listeners.Faith, Culture, and everything in between.Scripture References:Exodus 15 & 16Questions:Back on July 28, you released a podcast about taking your complaints to God. Today's (October 22) sermon, you preached against grumbling. Can you talk about the difference and how we can make sure we complain and not grumble? It seems to me like there are quite a lot of similarities in the Egyptian hate and attacks on the Jewish is same as the Muslim world now. My understanding of Muslim faith is that they also believe in the old testament. If so, why are they so ready to play the role of the Egyptians now. Probably a dumb question because I don't really understand the Muslim focus on killing non Muslims as a key part of their faith. So different from the Christian belief, but I know we also will go to war against enemies too. Just a little confusingGot questions? Text us at 737-231-0605!Like, share, and subscribe! 247: Pastor Plek, Pastor Mo, Leah Brown, and Machine Gun Nick recap Sunday's sermon on the final plague in Egypt. They answer a question from one of our listeners and even do a brief dive into the 5 points of Calvinism and Limited Atonement.Faith, Culture, and everything in between.Questions:Exodus 12:29-32 is a tough verse when taken on its own. It seems to imply that God is responsible for the death of the first born. However, God is the source of truth and cannot lie. If he already gave his word in Gen 12:3 that he would curse anyone who curses his people. In light of this, why do we place responsibility on God rather than Pharaoh? God promised "Do A and I will be forced to do B", Pharoah does A and God's hand is forced. Why do we not read this as Pharaoh being the one responsible? Almost like sticking your finger in an electric outlet and then blaming the electric outlet for shocking you rather than sticking your finger in it when you knew what would happen.Who do you think the angel of death is?Scripture References:Exodus 12:29 - 13:22Romans 11, 13Got questions? In this episode, Crosspoint host Josh Jackson chats with pastor and author Chris Plekenpol, who recounts an incident with a suicide bomber in Iraq and also talks about God's word, God's spirit, God's people... finding God's will. Chris graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1999 and served in the Army for seven years. Upon God’s call in his life to ministry, he attended Dallas Theological Seminary and received his Masters in Theology (ThM.) Chris traveled as an evangelist and missional group trainer with iamsecond.com for two years before becoming the Lead Pastor of Wells Branch Community Church. Chris is the guest speaker during week 7 of Summer RNR at White Sulphur Springs. If you haven't made summer plans, or if your plans suddenly change, check out the White Sulphur Springs and Spring Canyon websites for availability this summer, or start planning ahead for the fall and winter programs we offer at both conference centers. OUTLINE // Here are some of the topics Chris and Josh talk about: Chris shares his story, including a moment in his career in which his trajectory shifted from Army Special Forces to a calling to serve full time in Christian ministry. While deployed, Chris recounts a moment in Iraq when an encounter with a suicide bomber left a deep spiritual impact in his life. Chris gives insight into what he'll be talking about this summer at White Sulphur Springs Conference Center—a topic he calls “God Speaks.” How can someone know God’s will? Chris offers advice to listeners who might be asking that question about God right now. When it comes to relationships, Chris talks about different relationship stories from the Bible and what tell us about our faith—why does God bring certain relationships into our lives? Why do we tend to treat the ones we love the most the worst and what we can do to fix that? Chris is asked: If you could only take one of your books with you to a deserted island, which would you take and why? Answer: Faith in the Fog of War, vol.2 (daily devotions that Chris wrote while in combat) Other books: Faith in the Fog of War, first edition Stumbling Souls: Is Love Enough? Is Love Wrong?: An Evangelical Christian encounters a Gay Activist Dating Basic Training Other resources Chris recommends: NET Bible The Bible Project "God's Word should be a primary diet in your life."

The word “passion” in modern culture usually refers to romance novels or adult entertainment. However, the word passion was originally defined as the suffering of Jesus Christ as he went to the cross. Starting in Matthew 26, Chris Plekenpol and Phill Kwon will guide WBCC through what it meant for Jesus to go to the cross for Jesus, for his disciples, for their contemporaries, and for us. Chris starts the Matthew’s Passion series with a sermon on Matthew 26:1-16.
