Maybe you've heard about Daniel in the Lion's Den from Sunday School. The moral of the story probably went something like this: if you're nice and faithful, God will save you from all of your troubles and you'll never have to deal with any difficulty and you can play with the nice kitties. But there's actually so much more to the story. This week, Kyle Ranson unpacks how this story is not just how God saves us from danger, but actually invites us into MORE danger for the sake of our friends and neighbors. Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio

We have a way God's love looks in our heads: rainbows, puppies, and maybe even a gallon bucket of that one frappe from Starbucks. Yeah...that's not quite what Jonah felt when he found himself stuck in the digestive track of a giant sea beast. But what if that's the exact thing that Jonah needed to come back to God at that time? This week Alli Patterson shows us how God's mercy is always chasing us, and God can and will use whatever it takes to bring us back to Him—even if it means becoming fish food. There's a long list of things that can make you feel like you're a “Bad Christian™“. The swear word when you stub your toe. The glass of wine when the kids are in bed. Sometimes it's just as simple as asking one too many questions. But what if asking questions didn't mean you were far away from God? What if it's just the doorway to know Him more? In a world that's quick to hop into a all caps-lock online debate, Chuck Mingo shows us how it's ok to come to God with our questions—and how Jesus will meet us there. EVERYDAY DISCIPLES S1:E7 Following the way of Jesus in everything, everywhere, every day. "And Jesus said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.'” - Mark 1:17 Welcome back to the Everyday Disciples podcast, where we discuss what it means to follow the way of Jesus in everything, everywhere, every day. This month, we are talking about what it means to selflessly serve. SHOW NOTES SERVICE BEGINS WITH HUMILITY: Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, “but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” In humility, with lowliness of mind, elevate the significance of those around. It was C.S. Lewis who said, “True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.” So give people weight and meaning, do not ignore them. Look to the interests of those around you. If you wanted to begin to see an improvement in your relationships, whether it be friendships, marriage, parenting, or with your parents. Begin to give those in your life weight, and don't always make it about you. WHAT IS OUR EXAMPLE OF SERVICE: Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, “When Jesus calls a man, he bids him come and die.” To follow Jesus is not to seek your own greatness. It is to die to yourself that you may truly live in Him. The example of our Lord is to serve and give our lives away. On the night that Jesus was betrayed, when He gathered his disciples, the task that was reserved for the last and the least, He took upon Himself and washed their feet. When there was an uproar over this, Jesus explained His actions, and in explaining his actions, he made it clear that we are to follow in His way of serving. PRACTICE FOR THE MONTH: Serve. Ask God to help you die to yourself daily so that you may serve those around you and do something for someone with no expectation of return. Everyday Disciples is a production of Crossroads Church located in Grass Valley, California.

Kyle Ranson shows us how your life isn't won on the big stage—it's in the small, unseen decisions you make every day. Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.
