Dustin Nielson and former NHL netminder Joaquin Gage finally reunite to share the microphones. It has been quite some time since these two anchors shared the airwaves, so the boys open up the program with a much-needed catch-up on life, summer schedules, and golf games before plunging headfirst into a volcanic week of hockey headlines.   On Today's Show: Dusty & Gager Catch Up: Before tearing into the hockey whiteboard, the fellas trade some opening notes on where they've been, how they spent their recent time off, and why the studio chemistry hits completely differently when they're both locked into the microphones. Dissecting Stan Bowman's Massive Roster Overhaul: The boys spent a significant chunk of today's broadcast sorting through the volcanic ash of the recent open-market madness. From the historic decision to move Darnell Nurse's entire $9.25M contract to San Jose without retaining a single dollar, to the incoming depth signings, the landscape in Oil Country has fundamentally shifted. Gager and Dusty share their raw, unfiltered thoughts on the new structural look of this team. The Remaining Cap Room Crossroads: With the current depth chart taking shape, the Oilers still find themselves holding onto a healthy, unusual layer of cap flexibility. The boys debate the primary summer crossroads: Does Stan Bowman aggressively weaponize that remaining cash on the open market right now for a top-six forward, or do the Oilers play a tactical, highly patient waiting game until the trade deadline rolls around? The Leo Carlsson NHL Offer Sheet Bomb: The guys pull back the macro-lens to look at the massive roster anarchy that sent shockwaves through front offices on Friday afternoon. The Philadelphia Flyers completely shattered convention by dropping a historic five-year, $90 million offer sheet on Anaheim Ducks' 21-year-old star center Leo Carlsson. At an $18M average annual value, Dusty and Gager debate the immediate fallout: Will the Ducks blink and match the poison-pill contract? More importantly, is this ruthless tactic a definitive sign of things to come across the NHL as aggressive GMs start weaponizing offer sheets against rebuilding squads? Russian Bear Never Sleeps: Gager and Dusty take a different approach as they look at the greatest Russian NHLers of all time. Is Alex Ovechkin the obvious #1? Who comes in at #2? Do Nielson and Gager have different lists? Anybody on the rise?   2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!

We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.    It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.   ESPN's Greg Wyshynski locked down the final segment of today's jam-packed show. We kicked things off with a global perspective, getting Greg's thoughts on Team USA's tough elimination match at the World Cup yesterday. Then, we plunged straight into deep hockey water, starting with the local scene as Wysh it analyzed Stan Bowman's aggressive free agency blueprint and the landscape-shifting decision to trade Darnell Nurse to San Jose. From there, we tackled the multi-million dollar question sweeping the league: Will the Ducks match Philadelphia's toxic $90M offer sheet, or is Leo Carlsson officially a Flyer? After a quick temperature check on the Florida Panthers' latest roster adjustments, we wrapped up the program by diving into the squared circle with Wysh's ultimate take on the latest news and storylines in the WWE.   We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.

Dustin Nielson and YouTube Trev team up to tackle a massive, fast-moving Monday morning hockey board. Stan Bowman and the front office didn't let the weekend slow them down, continuing to piece together the post-Darnell Nurse era with a flurry of backend contracts.   On Today's Show: The Position Strength Pyramid: We all know the center position—anchored by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl—is the crown jewel and the absolute number one strength of this Edmonton Oilers roster. But how does the rest of the lineup shake out from top to bottom? Dusty and Trev go through the positions to assess the team's structural depth. What is the definitive second-best position group on this squad? Where do the wingers land, and are the newly reshaped blueline and the three-goalie rotation floating down near the bottom of the pyramid? The Sunday Backend Signings: Roster puzzle pieces are falling into place! The boys break down yesterday's official announcements as the Oilers locked down two key restricted free agents on the blueline. Newly acquired 24-year-old Shakir Mukhamadullin—the massive 6'4" prize of the Nurse trade—secured a two-year bridge deal at a very manageable $1.75M AAV. Right alongside him, 26-year-old defenseman Spencer Stastney locked in a one-year extension at $1.525M. The guys debate the depth chart, the waiver variables, and who has the early inside track to stick on the opening-night roster. Weaponizing the Remaining Cash: With Mukhamadullin and Stastney officially on the books, PuckPedia shows the Oilers still holding roughly $5 million in clear, usable cap space. The burning question remains: What should Stan Bowman do with the rest of the wallet? Do they immediately lock onto the remaining top-six forward market, or do they hold onto the flexibility to create a massive trade deadline war chest?   The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

Former NHL netminder Jamie McLennan joined us for his final hit of the season, and since we missed him last week, we had a massive mountain of Oilers news to clear out. "Noodles" broke down the headlines regarding Edmonton's official plan to carry three goaltenders next season and shared why he actually doesn't hate the approach. From there, we evaluated the Oilers' new-look blue line, tracking how well Stan Bowman navigated the historic Darnell Nurse trade to San Jose. Finally, Jamie mapped out the exact workload split he expects among the three netminders and advised what management should do with their freshly cleared cap space.   It was then time for the Play Alberta Early Bird Bet of the day.   Right after the break, we mapped out the entire CFL Week 5 slate with former league quarterback Chris Streveler. "Strevy" weighed in on the devastating, horrific injury to future Hall of Famer Bo Levi Mitchell that had him carted off the field in Hamilton last night. From there, the conversation shifted to pure dominance under center as we looked at Vernon Adams Jr.'s absolutely absurd tear to start the year. Whether it was the Darnell Nurse trade to San Jose, or Freddie Andersen signing in Edmonton for a scratch ticket, or Ryan Shea coming to town as a potential Nurse replacement, the Oilers got a lot of work done on day one without necessarily breaking the bank. As you'll hear, the boys all had different ideas about what went well and what might have been the best move of all.Shifting gears, the guys continued with the breaking news that dropped before the podcast after the Philadelphia Flyers put a massive offer sheet down on Leo Carlsson from the Anaheim Ducks. There is a lifetime of hockey knowledge, structural analytics, and local pulse packed into this one-hour window—and with the Edmonton Oilers triggering total roster earthquakes over the last 48 hours, the boys have a volcanic whiteboard to tear apart.   On Today's Show: Trev & Reid Lay Down the Law: It's the broadcast partnership you've been begging for. The boys recap their initial chemistry, trade a few opening barbs, and immediately get to work slicing through the massive mountain of roster data dominating the city right now. Inside Stan Bowman's Blueprint: Reid updates the desk on his exclusive, heavy-hitting interview with Oilers GM Stan Bowman from yesterday's program. Bowman let loose a few massive nuggets regarding his exact philosophy behind moving Darnell Nurse's entire contract without retaining a single penny. Now that the Oilers have genuine, highly unusual financial flexibility, the guys debate the ultimate offseason crossroads: Does Bowman weaponize his open wallet on the open market immediately, or do the Oilers play a tactical waiting game until the trade deadline? The Hunt for a Top-Six Weapon: It sounds like management is far from finished. Stan Bowman explicitly teased that the Oilers are actively hunting for another elite forward to solidify the top-six group. Trev and Reid break down the remaining market board, analyze the systemic fit, and sketch out exactly what kind of forward the Oilers need to target to complement the core. The 3-Goalie Rotation is Official: It's a crowded crease in Oil Country. Bowman confirmed the Oilers will use three netminders for next season: newly signed veteran Frederik Andersen, newly acquired trade piece Devon Levi, and returning goaltender Tristan Jarry. Reid and Trev look at the waiver logistics, the injury insurance policy, and debate whether a three-headed monster in the blue paint is a stroke of structural genius or a recipe for locker-room chaos.   The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

Later, former NHL scout Jason Bukala (31:40) stops by the studio to share some takeaways from the day's moves so far, whether the Oilers could be in on Jordan Binnington even after trading for Devon Levi, what Bobrovsky's arrival in Toronto means for Anthony Stolarz, why the Leafs should be cautious on a potential Zach Werenski trade, and much more. We are less than 24 hours away from the start of NHL Free Agency and the Penguins are reportedly in on one of the biggest fish in the pond – Jason Robertson. Poni wants them to do everything they can in order to acquire his talents. Robertson is a 3X 40-goal scorer and is only 27. Due to Robertson being a restricted free agent, it could require the Penguins to send 4 1st round picks to the Stars if they make him an offer he agrees to (and the team doesn't match). Poni noted that Robertson has turned down a few other teams already, but the Penguins are still in-play. BREAKING: The Penguins have made a trade with the Golden Knights – acquiring Kaedan Korczak (D) for Parker Wotherspoon (D). / PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Should the Penguins go all-in for Jason Robertson? How many home runs can Esmerlyn Valdez hit as a rookie? Is Braxton Ashcraft a better pitcher than Paul Skenes right now? Penguins reporter Dan Kingerski joined the show. Dan had a hard time understanding the D-for-D trade the Penguins just made sending Parker Wotherspoon to the Golden Knights. What will their third defense pairing look like? Dan believes Ryan Shea will get more money on the open market than what he will get from the Penguins. Dan isn't in love with the Darnell Nurse idea, describing it as a project that will last at least 4 years. Dan questioned if a massive move like Jason Robertson makes sense for where the Penguins are at right now. He gives it about a 20% chance of happening. Dan pointed out a few names people should have their eyes on going into free agency tomorrow afternoon. He said they need to fortify the blueline.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the NHL Draft, the latest Darnell Nurse rumours, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the NHL Draft and which takes we've had over the years that aged the best and worst. Whether it's thinking certain picks were going to be slam dunks, or believing that the Oilers ruined guys who were never going to make it, the boys discussed some of their favourite draft stories either good or bad. As you'll hear, expecting the boys on the podcast to correctly predict the draft or how these players will work out is basically impossible. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a recap of the latest in the Darnell Nurse rumours, and whether the long-time defenceman will still be with the Oilers through the weekend. While many Oilers fans thought the draft would be a reasonable time to move Nurse, the reality is that this move might take a while to get something done. The guys also discussed whether or not there is a chance that he doesn't get traded at all? They also discussed the Oilers' situation between the crease, and whether it's acceptable or not if the tandem is a Ingram/Jarry tandem again. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed Canada's matchup against South Africa at the World Cup, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a bunch of Oilers stories despite not a whole lot happening.
