This week, we were super lucky to talk to serial entrepreneur, branding expert, and all around great guy Hajj Flemings, CEO of Rebrand Cities and founder of Modern Athlete. Hajj was one of the first people I remember talking about your "personal brand", so we dove into that, as well as what it means for smaller neighborhoods and businesses to have a digital voice. We also got into how he mentors for Tech Stars Detroit.

Tonight was one of those nights in-studio where we got to basically next to none of the topics we had queued up for the night. Which isn't a bad thing. It means that the flow with the guests was outstanding, and that we had an incredible series of conversations going on. Which is exactly what happened tonight as we were joined by Hajj Flemings and Delane Parnell to talk about Starterfest, other events in the area, and we even dove into the debacle with the Clippers' owner...

IT in the D, Episode 30. We had Hajj Flemings as our in-studio guest to talk about his areas of expertise like branding, social media personas, and everything else he's got going on these days. Detroit's Largest Selfie. The #DetroitWeek hashtag and activities. And a bunch more. He's a busy guy with a lot of irons in the fire, and it was great to sit down and chat with him about it all. That just scratches the surface though, because oh, did we have some fun with the latest news and events...

IT in the D, Episode 29. No guests this time around, and it's just Jeff and Dave in-studio, joined a bit by Karen from The Corner with K-Hubb and Marcus from the band My Perfect Nightmare. A lot of the basics about our upcoming events got covered, as well as a whole bunch of the latest news, stories, and all sorts of fun. So let's go ahead and get to the recap... The night started off early for me sitting in with K-Hubb's show from 7-9 before our show got started, and I had an absolute blast. Jeff joined in for our normal 9pm start time, and away we went. [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/134186510" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /] We started off chatting about some of the basics of our events, and specifically about our next two upcoming ones - a casual networkign event next week, and our Pink Slip Party on 3/13. Thursday, February 20th. Clinton Township. Detroit Pub at 14 and Harper. You can find all of the details, a map, etc., out on our events page at http://www.ITinTheD.com/meet/, on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ITintheD, or in our Meetup group at http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/. Should be a great night, looking forward to seeing everyone there. Our next event after that will be one of our Pink Slip Party events.  Thursday, March 13th down at St Andrews Hall. If you're not familiar with the difference between our "normal" events and our Pink Slip Party events, we have some handy-dandy Frequently Asked Questions for you, and those are located out at http://www.ITinTheD.com/meet/faq/ Want to read up on our last two events?  Here are a few links: - Our 3/13/13 recap: http://www.ITinTheD.com/5084/the-31313-pink-slip-party-recap/ - Our 3/13/13 event: http://blog.thedetroithub.com/2013/03/19/it-in-the-d-made-job-hunting-awesome-at-st-andrews-hall/ - Our 9/19/13 recap: http://www.ITinTheD.com/6314/919-pink-slip-party-recap/ - our 9/19/13 event: http://www.dailydetroit.com/2013/09/23/finding-a-job-can-be-a-party-pink-slip-party-brought-hundreds-together-to-find-jobs/ Literally hundreds and hundreds of people.  There aren't many better opportunities than this in the area for you to get your name out to your target demographic. We're in the middle of locking things down with companies who have expressed an interest in sponsoring this event, but there's still time if you want to get in front of some of the best and brightest folks in the metro Detroit information technology community.  There are only four slots available.  We're not playing favorites here and holding things until the last minute, so those slots will go to whomever books them with us first.  It's that simple. And yep, we've finally sat down and created an entire media kit.  So if you want to see some numbers, demographics, and statistics on what sponsoring and helping us pull these events together can get you, drop us a note and let's chat: http://www.ITinTheD.com/contact-us/ Then we got into a whole host of topics.  The "eating room" craze in South Korea where people are paying to watch webcams...of people eating.  A reminder about the Agile and Beyond conference on the 21st and 22nd from last week's episode.  Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner heading to metro Detroit while filming.  Robocop, Mad Max, Total Recall...and movie remakes in general.  The Recliner Principle and how I fell victim to it.  CVS taking a $2 billion hit by stopping selling cigarettes...and what a hypocritical move that is.  The latest hack...this time of Comcast. So, all that and more.  Listen in below, and join us next week when we've got Hajj Flemings in as a guest and for future episodes as well.
