Originally aired on March 19, 2018. First, we interviewed Jonathan Bock, President of Grace Hill Media and co-author of The Way Back (number one on Amazon in March). In The Way Back, media and marketing experts Phil Cooke and Jonathan Bock take a hard look at Christians today and reveal that we, as a salesforce, have lost our faith in our product. Where’s the passion, the excitement, and the commitment that two thousand years ago made such improbable and staggering growth possible? We were also joined by Pastor Doug Wilson to discuss why the church should be enraging the culture! You should join Pastor Wilson this April 13th and 14th at the Grace Agenda conference in Moscow, Idaho. It is free, so you have no excuses. In CrossPolitic news, we cover a college student who was kicked out of class for arguing that there are only two genders, and a Rocklin High School teacher who is on paid administrative leave for her views about the national school walk out. Our theme is why logic doesn't work with public education.

It might be to begin a conference, open a board meeting, before introducing a main speaker, at the start of a big meeting, and more. However, so many people completely blow the point of a devotion that I wanted to share these reminders of how to make it memorable. How to make your speech memorable: 1. Start with scripture. Focus their mind on God. 2. Don't preach. Make it conversational. Share from your heart. 3. Open with a personal story to build a stronger connection with your audience - but keep it short. 4. This is not your chance to pitch your project or brilliant ideas! The devotional time isn't about you, it's about focusing the audience on God or the conference theme. 5. Respect the schedule. Keep to your given time frame. Practice with the clock! You may not be the keynote or main speaker, but being asked to give a short devotional is an honor. Do it well and people will remember you for the rest of their lives. And don't forget a “byline” – which is essentially a one-sentence description of you. 5) A short, well-written introduction: You can't always depend on a conference host or MC to write a good introduction for you, so don't take chances. 6) Your online and social media links: Conferences often publish your social media and website links in the program or put them on the video screen while you speak. Don't wait until you get asked to speak to prepare these items! It may take a while to pull all of this together, so do it now, and you'll always be ready. Remember – the easier you make it for the people who can hire you as a speaker, the better your chances of getting selected! Now What?Resilience is the ability to come back from failure. If you've failed or been rejected, these five steps can be the key to help you move past failure and on to success: 1. Don't overthink it. Don't get obsessed thinking about what you could have done better. 2. Don't take it personally. It's easier said than done, but learn to separate criticism of the project from criticism of you. 3. Find objective advice. Find another experienced person that you trust and run the project by them for a second opinion. 4. Ask for constructive criticism. At the moment of failure or rejection, keep a cool head and ask for constructive criticism. 5. Don't let failures derail your dream. It happens! Keep moving forward. Don't be afraid to fail, especially if you're expanding your tent poles. If you're breaking new ground or trying new things – that's not the time to be timid! That's the time to try things, and if you fail, learn from your failures and move on. How much does ignoring the elephant in the room cost the organization in quantifiable terms related to finances, resources – and even employees lost because of it. 4. Be clear about the positives of removing the elephant. Highlight the potential outcomes of addressing the issues and cast vision for the future. 5. Include everyone on the elephant removal team. Make it a team effort to foster collaboration. 6. Don't take sole credit for the removal. Acknowledge the contributions of the team. Unresolved issues can hold your ministry or organization back.
