Canada Braces For Fiona is the top story on Today's Travel and Cruise Industry News Podcast with Chillie Falls. Hurricane Fiona, now a Category 3 storm, has passed Bermuda and should deliver a direct blow to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland tonight and tomorrow. Because of the immense size of Fiona, everything from the mid-Atlantic east coast of US north will feel some aspect of the system. There are currently six other systems to look at including Tropical Depression Nine, which likely will eventually become Hurricane Hermine and possibly hit Florida next week. Escambia County Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore has the latest on Tropical Storm Nine, which is expected to develop into Hurricane Hermine.

I'm glad our cats don't have to suffer the way people do. Kalahari Serval would have been 20 in a couple of weeks, but during Hurricane Hermine she was found to be down in her cage, with labored breathing, and refusing to eat or stand. Kalahari has been on heart medications all of her adult life and no one ever expected her to even live half as long as she has. Dr Justin Boorstein came and did diagnostics and the X-ray showed a lot of fluid in her chest cavity around her heart and lungs, making it hard for her to breathe. He administered drugs to help dispel some of the fluids and we watched her through the night and most of the following day, but it was clear that she is not going to recover and we made the sad decision to euthanize her yesterday evening. Dr Justin found 200 cc of fluids around her heart so it was building up faster than the meds could dispel it. Congestive Heart Failure is the same thing that killed my father, but he had to suffer till the very end, because we can't provide humane relief to humans in this country. I'm grateful that it's not raining and think I'll ride my bike to work. I've gotten so little exercise the past few weeks. I am appreciative of all the people who sent loving thoughts and prayers during Hurricane Hermine. I'm especially thankful that we didn't take a direct hit. Hi, I'm Carole Baskin and I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/ I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet. I am so thankful it's not raining. Tropical Storm Hermine has rained down on us for days and the sanctuary is flooded. I fully expected to walk outside this morning and see Rocky Creek at my door step, but she's in her banks. Thank Goodness! I appreciate my father looking after Jamie even after he died. Mom gave all of the grandchildren “a new car from Papa” and Jamie, who is already driving her dream car, bought a new RV last night. It was their dream RV, so I'm glad they will have that home on the road. I love all the volunteers who come out in the pouring rain to make sure the cats are fed and have high, dry spots to ride out the storms. Hurricane Hermine slammed into Florida this morning as a Cat 1 (74-95 MPH), but I'm thankful that we were not directly in her path. We are getting a lot of rain and wind, in the trailing bands, but I'm hoping the worst has passed as she's losing speed now to a Tropical Storm. I'm grateful that we have power this morning. I was happy and surprised to see that Kalahari Serval survived the night. She was the 100th exotic cat that my son in law, Justin, has sedated. He's turned out to be an amazing vet with Jamie by his side to keep him focused and moving forward when he's in doubt. Now that cruises are opening back up, there's always a debate on whether or not cruises are great. Jon and Jenn talk about the benefits and problems with cruising (at least on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Disney). 4 different cruises, three different liners and Hurricane Hermine. Have you ever been in a full hurricane on a cruise ship? Jon and Jenn have! They tell their whole adventure on the ship's way out to Bermuda. Ports talked about are Bermuda, Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, Catalina, San Diego, Ensenada, Turks and Caicos and more! Plus why Jenn will not go out on a balcony with Jon while on the ocean. A summary look at Hurricane #Hermine and the storm's impact in the Southeast and the Mid Atlantic in early September. We'll retrace the storm's steps from the time it was known as Invest 99L. We speak with Florida State University meteorologist and local AMS Chapter President Matt Reagan on the life of Hermine. Additionally, as we approach the peak of Hurricane season, we are going to talk about how the tropics have faired so far, and what we can expect heading in to the heart of the tropical season. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/carolinaweather/message
It's official! Steve and Brittainy are married! The two of them braved Hurricane Hermine and enjoyed their week in Florida! Check out a sample of their wedding story here!
It's the day after Labor Day and we are back from vacation! And what a vacation we had! Steve is officially married to his sweetheart, Brittainy! So, on today's show Steve talked about how having a wedding during Hurricane Hermine was. Turns out it probably made the wedding even better than they thought it would! We also talked about Connie and Curtis' vacations, we found out that a brand new line of frozen dinner is asking you to spank your lunch, and Curtis quizzes Connie and Steve on some of the English language's most mispronounced words. All of that, Curtis' Whatever, and much more on today's show!
We talked about Odd Thomas as a sort of elegy for Anton Yelchin. Logan tries to steer us away from getting too sad, which is weird since he picked this movie, presumably in an attempt to make us very sad. This episode is being posted in the wake of Hurricane Hermine, so you know at least one of us survived, but since it was recorded a while back, you'll have to keep listening for another month or so to find out which one(s)! Kevin praises this as one of Yelchin's finest performances, Dylan apparently just discovered cold brew coffee, and Matt says something really smart and funny at the beginning of the show, but everybody else pretends it's not that great because they're jealous. Goodbye, Anton Yelchin. We all liked you.

On this week's episode of WeatherHype, we're talking all things Tropical in the Atlantic and Pacific. However, we're going to emphasize the buzz and communication challenges associated with the 99L --> TD9 --> Tropical Storm Hermine --> Hurricane Hermine system! We start off with a discussion on the definition of an "invest" and the various tropical systems currently impacting the United States. We then look at the attention 99L has gotten in the past two weeks, and Castle takes us through a mini-experiment he conducted with social media data. Then we talk about the communication challenges associated with issuing Tropical Storm/Hurricane products with only a Tropical Depression in the Gulf, as well as a look at the new prototype Storm Surge Watch/Warning Products from the National Hurricane Center. We finish up our weather chat with an examination of the Zika virus and how these tropical systems may potentially impact the spread of this virus. Finally, we share a few personal stories and our Songs of the Week! Note: Wildwood Church met for worship at our usual worship times during an electrical outage following Hurricane Hermine. Sermon video was not recorded, but the audio recording is available below. We drink the juice or wine, and eat the bread…but do we truly appreciate what Communion represents? When Jesus led his disciples through their last Passover meal together (the Last Supper), he reminded them not only of God's deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. He foreshadowed a greater deliverance He would achieve on the cross…our freedom from sin. Today we remind ourselves why we take Communion, and discover who is invited to take part in this meaningful display of God's salvation in Jesus Christ.
