Comedian Donnell Rawlings has worked on every radio station in New York and got fired from the biggest shows. He has comic Todd Lynn in common with the guys and they all had a difficult time with him. They share Kevin Hart stories who had a signature bit impersonating a monkey. During his time on The Chappelle Show, Donnell did a comedy tour with Bill Burr and Charlie Murphy. He recalls having a bad time at a roast battle after drinks with Teddy Swims. Adam Blank has been a white whale guest for me since the day I started comedy. Everyone I spoke to told me I HAD to see him and once I saw him take the stage I knew exactly why. He is one of the most talented stand up comedians to ever come out of Edmonton and one of the most successful podcasters as well. We got to talk about his stand up journey and his decision to step away from it and continue down his path of podcast domination. This conversation flowed so smoothly and did so much for me. It's hard to explain how much you can get out of an unfiltered conversation with someone you have a genuine respect for in your chosen occupation and Adam is a master. It feels like I got an entire crash course on the journey/industry of stand up comedy as well as podcasting and I was buzzing off this conversation for days. I was so tempted to drop it early and I couldn't be more excited for it to be out in the world. Please go check out remember the game and all of Adams other podcasts, subscribe to his patreon and follow him on instagram @adamblank17 he is one of my favourite people and he deserves all of the love! Also as always come check out my shows @trishs.asylum at the moon and Primetime Comedy at the comic Strip

We had to have one of my favourite people not only in comedy but in the entire world back on the podcast! Dan Schmidt I like to affectionately refer to as the Mennonite Forest Gump because his life is so crazy and the first episode we did (VDC #208) was one of my favourite podcasts. I was already good buddies with Dan but until that podcast I had no idea just how deep the story of his life went. Since then Dan has been grinding comedy and has done a ton of very cool things. Latest of which is his first weekend at the Comic Strip in west edmonton mall May 1st-4th, which is something he has been wanting to do for a very long time. It was so nice to catch up with Dan and he's such a great guy recording this podcast turned my entire mood around and made me so appreciative that I have him in my life! Go listen to this episode and the first one we did and then go follow Dan on instagram @danschmidtcomedy he is working all the time so whether it is his big host weekend at the strip or any other shows go support this fella there are few guys who deserve it more! Also please share and like the podcast and tell your podcast nerd friends to check it out too!As always I have comedy shows every friday at the moon and they are always a blast! Also check out the Tuesday workshop and Sunday Smoke Show at the moon, it's the best venue and no one supports comedy like they do!And if you are scared of the smoke come see my show, PrimeTime Comedy at the Comic Strip March 9th for the best lineups and hottest shows in the city!
From scrubbing tanks in Indiana to leading an energy company, Matt Gallagher's story is anything but boring. He's seen it all—booms, busts, wild innovations, and even a UFO (or maybe just Starlink?) from a hot tub in Colorado. We get into the early days of horizontal drilling, what it was like growing Parsley Energy during the shale boom, and where he sees U.S. oil production headed next. Plenty of laughs, plenty of insight, and maybe even a conspiracy theory or two—this one's got it all.Digital Wildcatters brings the energy community together through events, cutting-edge content, and powerful tools. I haven't been this excited to have a guest on in a long time! Mike Dambra is one of the funniest people alive and has been plying his craft onstage for almost 40 years. On top of that he's one of the best guys I've met in the industry and after seeing everything you possibly can in comedy he is a wealth of information and I knew our conversation would be epic. But I was completely unprepared for just how wild his story is and after hours of talking I know we could have sat down the next day and ran it back with all new stories. My favourite part about Dambra is how he has worked for decades to build an amazing life for himself and because of that he's completely untethered by the business and politics of comedy. This guy truly don't give a F**K and it is AWESOME! He says what he thinks and it's such a breath of fresh air in an industry rife with saying the right thing and kissing the right asses. In so many ways Mike is an example of exactly what people should be aiming for in their comedy careers and I personally look up to and appreciate him on a very deep level. It was an honour to have him on and I'm sure he will be back on again so give it a listen and let us know what you think! Also go follow him on Instagram @gracesfunnydad and catch him on a show near you! He's one of the hardest working comics around so you won't have to wait long to see him and you will never regret going to a Mike Dambra show! And as always subscribe, like, tell your friends and come see me do comedy at shows across the city! @trishs.asylum on Fridays, PrimeTime comedy on Sundays and all the other shit I got in the works! Comedy Rules!

Johnny Mac hosts comedian Matthew Broussard, discussing Broussard's new comedy special 'Hyperbolic', personal anecdotes about his career, and experiences in comedy.Hyperbolic marks the full-length debut special from comedian Matthew Broussard, a veteran of Conan, Roast Battle, and The Tonight Show. In this sharply honed set, Matthew dives into painfully personal experiences growing up Cajun-Jewish in a WASPy Southern prep school, the challenges of millennial masculinity as the bread loser to a former pro athlete, and candid stories about mental health struggles in his family. Plus some oddly keen sidebars into grammar, etymology, pharmaceutical origin stories, and statistics.Matthew began his stand-up career 13 years ago aiming to leave his finance job behind. Five years in, he released a half-hour special through Comedy Central. Then he spent the next eight years on the road collecting stories, gaining a fiancee, and losing a father. His comedy is heady, self-effacing, and weirdly… educational? Hyperbolic will be available everywhere comedy is streamed or sold on December 10, 2024.Broussard shares stories about his family, his relationship with his professional swimmer fiancée, and reflections on the comedy scene, including crowd work challenges and the influence of social media on comedy. Today's episode is with one of my favourite local comedians Jules Balluffi! She started comedy not long before I did and she has quickly become one of the best comics around. Not only does she grind her ass off, getting on stage all over the city (and recently all over the country!) but she also takes a humble analytical approach to her comedy, always looking for any improvements she can make and never settling. The craziest part is she's done it all while actively working on her PHD at the U of A! I know first hand just how all consuming comedy can be so it was fascinating to sit down and hear how she manages to balance both and still make the strides that she does! Go follow her on Instagram and catch a show of hers whenever you can, I promise you will not regret it! @julesballuffiAlso im heading to the UK Tomorrow so my comedy shows will be on a bit of a hiatus but once im back there's big things coming! Still great shows at the Moon so go check em out!

There's no way your student said that… Welcome back to Teachers Off Duty! This week our hosts Bri Richardson, Jess Smith, and Tyler Jackowski share the craziest things that students have said to them. We all love a good roast, but it really doesn't hit when it's coming from a twelve year old kid. Our students can be really brutal, and we start off the episode by saying the worst insults our students have given us. Some of these are really hurtful, from making fun of our fashion, to our career decisions; these kids are really going for the throat. All this being said however, is it unprofessional to clap back at their insults, or should we just remember not to take it so personal? These kids are really not pulling any punches recently with their roasts, Bri shares a story about a student that called her poor for never skiing before. Big talk coming from someone who still gets an allowance! Tyler also shares his story of a kid who made fun of his hair, and lets just say things got a little out of hand, tune in to find out what happened! But it's not all about hurtful student insults, we also are celebrating Halloween a little early this year with our host's sharing their paranormal experiences in haunted schools. Whether it be apparitions, weird noises down the halls, or our extra homework coming back to haunt us, we have some chilling tales for you this week. Jump right to it! 4:19 - Kids say the darnedest things 10:09 - Teachers' Personal Anecdotes 17:00 - Roast Battles with Students 23:43 - Handling Awkward Situations 31:47 - Unfiltered Student Comments 38:09 - Supernatural School Tales So get your comebacks ready and leave your feelings at home, because the roasts are getting pretty personal on this week's episode of Teachers Off Duty.
