After more than two years away, I (Tony) am coming back to podcasting with my Wine in the News style show. I had intended it to be a spin-out from this podcast (which would also change), but with Betty not wanting to host a podcast currently, I will be renaming Weekly Wine Show to Court of Wine and will host the show here so back episodes can remain available. I hope you enjoy the new format! Cheers!
Episode 77: I told you guys I would give you a second episode this week as an apology for missing a couple. On this episode, I (Tony) interview Ted Nischan from Colorado. Ted is a USPSA competitor that turned to the evil division known as PCC, BUT you can't hate him that much! Why? Because it is really hard to hate a guy that competes with a MP5K!!!! Ted has been doing what many said couldn't be done and he is competing with the beloved MP5 and doing quite well! So well in fact he recently made GM with it! Give his story a listen! So there's good news and bad news. So bad news has two parts that are tied together. First, there will be no official episode this week because it has been difficult finding guests and it doesn't help that I (Tony) am currently in Mexico as I post this. There will also be a 4 week gap in between season 2 and season 3 of Nice Guys Finish Last, so I can regroup and come back with hot content that you want to listen to. The GOOD NEWS is that season three will have a spin to it. I'll be bringing back one guest from the show to be my co-host for all 17 episodes of season 3. To find out who, make sure you tune in to Episode 34; the last episode of season 2! Until next time guys. Be safe, have fun, I hope you c*m
Power of Purity | Helping Men to Honor God with their Sexual Gift
This is episode 287 of The Power of Purity Podcast... and it's the FINAL EPISODE. Hey guys... In this episode I (Tony) share what's going on in my heart... my life... and my situation that has led me to record the FINAL EPISODE of the podcast at this time. If you've been following this podcast... I feel that I owe you an explanation... and I owe you complete honesty and transparency. You've let me into your heart and life... you've listened to me... and you've allowed me to be part of your journey. Thank you so much for this privilege... and it's something that I hold as sacred. I pray the podcast has been a blessing and an encouragement to you... and I pray it will continue to be a resource for you into the future... as you continue to move forward on your journey of purity. It has been my honor to be on this journey with you... and to serve you through this podcast. Please pray for me... as I continue to pray for you. Stay in the battle guys... it's worth it! 1 Some time later God tested He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Genesis 22:1-2 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:7-14 For I know the plansI have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Both Sides of the Mask wanted to create more content that can be available better than ever. Maybe more episodes? Maybe more interaction? Maybe more interviews? What could we do to fit all our ideas and juggle our personal lives? With family, work, training, and studying for the upcoming season, how do we fit it in? So we created a new way to add more to our listeners. You will be able to get more episodes loaded up weekly. We will publish full episodes, interviews, and short bytes which we will call Power Chat. Tony or Liz will record a “Power Chat” on our own that will be a bonus episode on topics that we are passionate about or a topic that comes to mind. You will hear more about WIN Reality, conversations we’ve had with past guests, and some things that are hot takes in our umpiring world. I (Tony) had the amazing opportunity to be part of training put together by USA Softball SoCal. The opportunity was amazing and I am grateful to my wife for letting hang in a Zoom meeting all afternoon. There were so many lessons that were learned...for a veteran and a new umpire. Speaking of new umpires, let’s talk about what you might be doing as a new umpire into the NCAA!
After a couple late postponements, Wei-Shen and Tony just spend the show having a conversation about Tony’s new pool cue and other nonsense (start of podcast), some conversation about the current M&A market (5:00), and then they get into politics (18:30). Enter at your own risk. (Editor’s note: This was recorded last week, but I—Tony—am lazy and took forever getting this posted…back soon this week with a guest.)

They say write what you know. I (Tony) know the church world. I've had this unique perspective being both an ordained pastor and filmmaker. I love it and I often roll my eyes at it. I have to poke fun at myself and the institution that I have been a part of for most of my life. It formed me and messed me up. We have good hearts, but we are also ridiculously stubborn, privileged, irrelevant, offensive, racist, power hungry, awkward and down right wrong. (If we would only admit it we might be able to do more good in the world, which is why most of us pastors get into the "biz" to begin with. Oh well, it's been good fodder for my screenwriting. I still believe in the church and value my faith in God...but I also think we need to laugh and pick it apart. So...Here ya go. Let me know what you think. Want to help me produce it? As a child of the ‘80s who remember a world pre-Internet, the first time I (Tony) saw a CB Radio in action was an incredible moment. A device that allowed you to talk to mystery people, whose names and personalities changed depending on your location, was exciting. The CB represented a whole world of information and conversations that could be had with the simple pressing of a button. Who would be on the other end once your message was sent out? It was a mystery and an adventure. I remember as a teenager attempting to create a CB Radio station with an old CB and a large antenna I had purchased from a friend. I rigged up a way to “key the mic,” or keep my feed going without interruption, and began to broadcast Top 40 radio hits of the time and talk between the songs as if it were a real radio station. I was young, naive, and clueless to the proper etiquette one should use when broadcasting on a CB channel, and this idea backfired. When my show finally ended, I had almost every CB enthusiast in my hometown riled up and searching the neighborhoods for the strong signal, trying to figure out where it was coming from. I knew this because looking out my front window, I found a bunch of station wagons sporting large antennas driving up and down my road saying, “I think he’s around here … damn … I lost his signal!” This event ended my CB broadcasting days.
