Long-time Canberra duo Capo Creek (Artem Grigoriev and Chris Johnson) have a slapping new album called Running Out and it's getting rave reviews.Comprising ten original songs, the album seamlessly crosses genres to offer a delicious blend of acoustic guitar and vocal numbers that delve into the human condition while also being massively entertaining. With nods to contemporary folk, outlaw country, the blues, acoustic rock, murder ballads, romance, protest and social commentary, Running Out presents the perfect mix for great listening, escapism, foot stomping and even a bit of deep thinking. There are powerful and poignant songs on this album, as well as the whimsical – plus a whole lot of fun. These guys are bent on making sure everyone's having a great time at their gigs. They were joined on the album by some of Canberra's (and the world's) best musicians, including Matt Nightingale, Jonathan Jones, Jacqueline Bradley, DJ Gosper and Marji Curran …. and some of them might make special appearances at this gig.Capo Creek - where the water is sweet and the songs even sweeter.

As a gay Christian, Matt Nightingale is passionate about the intersection of sexuality and spirituality. He works to create safe, sacred spaces for people exploring these identities. His TEDx talk, “Choosing Gratitude and Hope,” with his former wife, Luanne Nightingale, tells their story of their 23-year mixed-orientation marriage, an evolving understanding of faith and sexuality, and the choice to end their marriage with gratitude and hope. When he first acknowledged his authentic sexuality, Matt believed he needed to be cured, and tried to do this in the confines of the church where he then worked. Eventually, he grew to accept his sexuality though it cost him his marriage and the job he held in his church. Matt is now a spiritual director and support group facilitator with The Christian Closet, which offers web-based counseling, coaching, and spiritual direction for LGBTQ Christians.

For years my guest for this episode and his former wife lived in a mixed-orientation marriage. Matt Nightingale had shared with his wife, Luanne, that he was gay, but — for various reasons, including that he was a pastor at a fundamentalist church — they stayed together for 15 years. During this time Matt undertook all kinds of efforts to turn himself straight, including conversion therapy. Matt has since done some writing about his experience, and he and Luanne have given a powerful TedEx talk on the journey they've taken together and it's complicated emotional terrain. Episode 9 features one of my (Tony) best friends. This story has spanned almost twenty years and has been instrumental in shaping how I see one of culture's most challenging issues around sexuality and theology. This story is personal but has so many ramifications on how we see and treat people in the church but also any where in the world we encounter someone of the LGBTQ community. I'm grateful for the freedom to be able to discuss this important issue. I believe it will open your mind and challenge your assumptions in both a sacred and strange ways. Holy Moly! What an extra-special treat this week, as Devin and Fraz are joined by Winnipeg sketch troupe, HUNKS!!! This episode was recorded with Fraz and HUNKS in a swank hotel room in Edmonton, while Devin chimed in from Vancouver via the internet! New School Death meets new school technology! Bitchin'! On this week's show: Tim Gray's molecules are reassembled by Disma's 'Towards The Megalith'; Dana Smith describes Rings Of Saturn's 'Lugal Ki En' as phone-droppingly awful; Matt Nightingale thinks Fallujah's 'Dreamless' is very good; Rory Fallis recommends Pissgrave's 'Suicide Euphoria' as a lovely soundtrack for a day trip to the Field of Scattered Bones; and Quinn Greene gets totally stoked on Gruesome's 'Savage Land' and its awesome tribute to Death! All of this, plus: Is Seinfeld a conduit for Satan? Would Cookie Monster tripping balls make for good metal vocals? And documented proof that Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt is the funniest man in metal. Cooooool times!!!

Tim Gray and Matt Nightingale are both veterans of the Winnipeg stand-up comedy scene, and this year they're both a part of the local contingent at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. Besides their accomplishments as stand-up comics (Tim's first comedy album comes out this June, and Matt is a regular host at Rumor's Comedy Club), they're also members of the sketch troupe HUNKS. Their work with HUNKS -- which also features Dana Smith, Quinn Greene, and Rory Fallis -- has taken them to festivals like Just for Laughs NorthWest, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the Montreal Sketch Festival. (They also have their own very funny podcast!) Last weekend, Paul Little sat down with Tim and Matt to talk about their growth as stand-ups, their early success with HUNKS, and a whole lot more fascinating (and ridiculous) stuff. It's our longest podcast yet, but it's also a whole lot of fun!

I'm very sorry for the audio quality of the this episode. I'll track down the reason for the fizzy background noise and fucking DESTROY it. Today's episode opens with us vicariously biting the hands that feed us (UMFM) while talking about Pledge-o-Rama. This week Quinn learned some fun squid facts! Tim trots over to the word of the week - tantivy. HUNKS recorded this after their triumphant appearance in Seattle Sketchest. We get into it! The group can barely hold in their excitement about being where Starbucks all started. And then Tim forces everyone into playing a game of 2 Truths & A Lie about the State of Montana. The third segment of this episode is a phone call Tim and Matt made a couple weeks ago. We got California Nightingale on the phone and had a stimulating conversation wherein Matt Nightingale opened his heart, Matt Nightingale was hilarious and Tim Gray was mostly mumbling.
