Is it off-screen chemistry, or is it just good marketing? Hosts Sanjana Basker and Tyler McCall open with the Brett Goldstein and JLo Office Romance press tour—and what it means when a man manifests his lifelong crush into a co-starring role. Then scholar and author Nisha Sharma joins to talk about her research on dark romance and reproductive coercion, including how the genre’s relationship to consent has shifted alongside the political landscape, and whether dark romance could do better without losing what makes it so compelling. Plus: a listener voicemail sends Sanj and Tyler deep into Off Campus territory. Office Romance starring JLo and Brett Goldstein is streaming now on Netflix—clearly we’ll be discussing. Nisha Sharma, author of The Letters We Keep, is studying the intersection of law, politics, and culture in romance fiction. Her Substack post on dark romance and reproductive coercion tees up this episode’s conversation. A few dark romances for discussion: Lights Out by Navessa Allen, Brynn Weaver and Allie Oleander’s work, and Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. It’s time for the Off Campus discourse! The correct answer to listener Lacey's question is Dean Di Laurentis. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's a New York state of mind on Radio 831. Hosts Sanjana Basker and Tyler McCall open with a conversation about publishing cadence in romance: Why readers want to be fed constantly, what category publishing and self-pub have to do with it, and what it actually means when an author takes their time. Then Tia Williams joins to talk about her new novel, The Missed Connection, and writing New York City as a character: the specificity of neighborhoods, the weight of gentrification, and why a character's apartment is never just an apartment. Plus: Sanj and Tyler name their favorite NYC romance novels and ask for listener recs set in Chicago, L.A., etc., etc.! To share yours, leave a message at 833-831-LOVE. Tia Williams is the author of the much-anticipated The Missed Connection (out June 9th!) as well as Seven Days in June, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde, and Audre & Bash Are Just Friends. Favorite NYC romances! You, Again by Kate Goldbeck from Tyler and Truly by Ruthie Knox from Sanj. Honorable mentions: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn, Joanna Shupe's Gilded Age historicals, and Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone. Sanjana and Tyler open on a question that cuts across every romance subgenre: What does authenticity in world-building actually require, and when does getting it wrong take readers out of the story entirely? Sanj brings her Corn Laws knowledge and a therapist-in-training's eye; Tyler brings ten years of fashion editing and very strong opinions about brand-dropping. Then author and publisher Adriana Herrera joins to break down the Historical Trailblazers Romance Collection—the Kickstarter collaboration with Ali Hazelwood, the Fated Mates podcast, and Julia Whelan's Audiobrary to give five genre-defining historicals the special editions they deserve—and why mainstream publishing keeps selling historicals short. To close: Sanj and Tyler pitch their all-time summer reads and define what separates a summer book from an anytime book. On world-building authenticity: the fashion-brand problem, on-page therapy sessions, and why internal consistency matters more than strict historical accuracy. Adriana Herrera is the author of Las Leonas series and co-founder of AH² with Ali Hazelwood. The Historical Trailblazers Romance Collection features Butterfly Swords by Jeannie Lin, Magpie Lord by KJ Charles, Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase, Indigo by Beverly Jenkins, and Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas. Summer read picks: The Pairing by Casey McQuiston (Tyler), The Art of Scandal by Regina Black (Sanjana), Never Been Shipped by Alicia Thompson (bonus!). Welcome back to Radio 831, where hosts Sanjana Basker and Tyler McCall make the case that yearning isn’t just trending—it’s a defining orientation toward life. Then they chat with author Betty Corrello to dig into what Wuthering Heights is actually doing in the canon: Is it a love story, is it camp, and what has romance inherited from Cathy and Heathcliff anyway? Plus: Sanjana gives Tyler her first homework assignment, Lisa Kleypas's Again the Magic, and Tyler comes back a changed woman. On yearning: Allison P. Davis’s “A Year on Our Knees” for The Cut, the movie Pillion, and the idea that lit-fic assumes everyone is cynical and jaded ℅ Mel Thomas (aka @page.melt). Betty Corrello is here to talk her favorite classic novel Wuthering Heights—the latest adaptation of which is now streaming on HBO. Her last banger of a romance (written under BC Dolce) is My Italian Vampire, and her next, out this October, is Back for Seconds. Sanj’s backlist homework for Tyler: Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas. Welcome to Radio 831, where hosts Sanjana Basker and Tyler McCall share their romance origin stories and make the case for why romance is fiction's most underestimated genre. Then they sit down with Jen Prokop, co-host of the Fated Mates podcast, to break down what actually makes a romance a romance: the HEA, the theory of change, the unspoken rule that love has to make you better. Plus: what our hosts can’t wait to read and watch this summer. Sanjana Basker’s romance origin story: period pieces and Lisa Kleypas’s historical romances. Tyler McCall’s romance origin story: The Idea of You by Robinne Lee (and Harry Styles fanfic) and Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade (related: this Jezebel article). Four examples of romance at its best, from Jen Prokop, co-host of the Fated Mates podcast: The Paris Match by Kate Clayborn, Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid, and Indigo and Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins. Summer releases Tyler and Sanj are hotly anticipating: Rivals Season 2 (May 15), Score by Kennedy Ryan (May 19), Just a Highland Fling by Naina Kamar (July 21), Extracurricular by Rachel Lynn Solomon (July 14), The Invite movie (June 26), I Want Your Sex movie (July 31).See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Piše Andrej Lutman, bereta Jure Franko in Eva Longyka Marušič. Svoje dojemanje polstanj, dremeža, polbudnosti, globinskosti ali plitvine sanjskega sporoča pristopno in s tem omogoča lažji pogled v tavajočnost, kamor pač zmore seči pesniška duša.

From flavor to rhythm to history, the impact of Hispanics on our world is unforgettable. This month, I'm thrilled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with four incredible women in the real estate industry. They share powerful stories of breaking barriers, building community, and redefining what leadership looks like. Meet The Leaders · Maggie Matthews is a celebrated broker, mentor, keynote speaker, and best-selling author with over 24 years of real estate experience. She is the driving force behind the Latinas in Real Estate book series, now three volumes strong, amplifying the voices of Latina professionals across the industry. · Jackie Castanera serves as the Assistant Sales Manager at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, overseeing Chicago's West region in Oak Park. Committed to helping agents and clients thrive, Jackie is not only an accomplished real estate leader but also a passionate community advocate who draws from her rich family legacy of business leadership. · Ileana Rojas Saldana is the co-founder and president of United Latinas, a respected leadership coach, and a DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) trailblazer. Through United Latinas, she strives to empower Latinas by elevating their leadership, visibility, and voice, offering resources such as book series (Extraordinary Latinas), public speaking programs, and community chapters nationwide. · Ellie Sance is an attorney and the founder of ES Law, where she serves as a trusted bilingual advocate for her clients throughout real estate transactions. As a Latina in the male-dominated field of law, she cites the importance of being comfortable with discomfort, communicating with confidence, and standing her ground while also remaining open and respectful. Overcoming Barriers and Shaping Legacies · Each guest delves into the challenges faced as Latinas in often male-dominated and unwelcoming environments. · They share strategies for overcoming self-doubt, combating stereotypes, and reclaiming their voices. · The power of mentors, community, and staying prepared emerges as recurring themes, with each guest highlighting key individuals who fueled their confidence and ambition. Defining Leadership and Legacy · For Maggie, leadership is about being the mentor she never had. As the daughter of immigrant parents and the oldest of four, she often had to figure things out on her own. Her proudest moments come not only from personal recognition, but also from helping countless women find their confidence and achieve their goals. · Jackie views leadership as embodying preparation, confidence, and authenticity. She has learned that respect is earned through consistency and readiness. For her, legacy is about perseverance—proving doubters wrong, uplifting her daughters with her story, and continuing the entrepreneurial spirit passed down from her family. · Ellie defines leadership as having the courage to take risks, speak up, and claim space even in male-dominated industries. Her legacy is rooted in the decision to leave big law, establish her own firm, and build a career on her own terms. She believes in leading by example, showing that success comes from self-trust, resilience, and turning discomfort into growth. · For Ileana, leadership means reclaiming the voice she once lost in the corporate world and helping other women do the same. She believes legacy is not just about rising individually but about bringing others along—creating communities where Latinas can be seen, heard, and supported. Favorite Books, Podcasts, and Quotes · Ellie Sance: o Mantra/Quote: Trust yourself, speak up, and take up space. As she put it, “If you're wrong, the worst that happens is you learn something and you do it gracefully and you own it. And if you're right, then you lead.” · Jackie Castanera: o Mantra/Advice: Take risks, and don't be afraid to step forward even when uncertain. She emphasized the importance of being passionate, giving back to your community, and finding that intersection between your work and your passions. · Ileana Rojas Saldana: o Mantra/Quote: “Believe in the power of your voice.” She's built her life and coaching around this idea, focusing on helping women own and elevate their voices and presence. · Maggie Matthews: o Book: She recommends Mel Robbins' book, “The Let Them Theory,” saying it's incredibly helpful for mindset and personal development. She also mentioned Mel Robbins' other books, “The Five Second Rule” and “The High Five Theory,” as impactful. o Podcast: She highlighted Mel Robbins' podcast as the number one podcast right now and highly recommended it. o Quote/Mantra: Maggie reflected on the idea that “our lives are our chapters, and we are the authors of our best-selling books, and everybody's story is very, very important.” When you help another woman rise, we all shine. And that's how we make an impact. So, let's build each other up and shine brighter than the sun. In this episode, Dr. Randy Cook speaks with Dr. Sanj Katyal, a radiologist who uniquely blends medicine with positive psychology. Reconnecting after three years, Dr. Katyal reflects on his journey to find greater joy and fulfillment, despite achieving many professional and personal goals. He shares insights into the emotional challenges physicians face, including the pervasive discontent he observed among peers, which inspired him to explore the science of happiness. Dr. Katyal discusses his experience managing a large radiology group, his studies under Harvard psychologist Tal Ben-Shahar, and transformative concepts like "hedonic adaptation" and "Rapid Transformational Therapy" (RTT). These tools help individuals reframe subconscious beliefs formed in childhood, paving the way for a more fulfilling life. Dr. Katyal also highlights his mission to empower physicians through candid discussions about mental health and well-being. He introduces his online course, ThriveRx, and his book, Positive Philosophy: Ancient Modern Wisdom to Create a Flourishing Life, which offers evidence-based strategies for personal and professional growth. This conversation underscores the importance of introspection, community, and support in achieving lasting fulfillment, especially within the demanding healthcare landscape. It's February which means it's time for the biggest holiday in romance — Derek Craven Day! We're so thrilled to be able to celebrate this remarkable man—born in a drainpipe, named himself, turned to a life of spectacle stealing—with all of you! This year, we're so excited to have friend of the pod and of Cravens, Sanjana (follow her on TikTok at baskinsuns), to chat with us about her landmark research: A Comprehensive Categorization of Kleypas Heroes. We laugh, we get serious, and yes, we even talk about Zachary Bronson. — calm down, Bronsonettes. Also — it just feels right that we're announcing Fated Mates Live on Derek Craven Day! Join us in Brooklyn, NY, at the gorgeous William Vale Hotel, on March 23rd! Join us along with a collection of special guests and a roomful of other romance-obsessed listeners for a night of romance shenanigans at a live taping of Fated Mates! While we're never sure quite how it's going to go, we can guarantee there will be books, booze and bantr…and you'll leave full of joy from all the fun. We've even got The Ripped Bodice on hand to sell books, and the room will be available for hanging with other Firebirds after the live! Tickets and info are at fatedmates.net/live.Next week, we're deep diving on Natalie Caña's A Dish Best Served Hot. Find it at Amazon, B&N, Apple Books, Kobo or your local indie. If you just can't get enough of us, consider joining our Patreon! You get an extra episode of banter every month and access to the Fated Mates discord, full of people who love romance as much as we do. It's pretty great, we have to say. Learn more at patreon.com/fatedmates. Show NotesWelcome Sanj. You can find her on TikTok or twitter. Her “Comprehensive Categorization of Kleypas Heroes” below went through several iterations during the pandemic, you're looking at v4. Lots of people have organized their thoughts about Kleypas characters, we also liked this one that's a Venn Diagram.Kate Clayborn joined us in 2021 to address a deeply silly list of questions and scenarios submitted by Magnificent Firebirds. It is absolutely worth a second listen. In 2023, we dropped That's So Craven. And then there's our Dreaming of You read along. If you're looking for hard data about what Derek Craven would or would never do, or just want to browse some absurd memes, the official Derek Craven Day master page has you covered. There are a few new memes this year and an answer to an important new question about Derek shopping at Winterborne's. Finally, the YouTube version of the 2021 Derek Craven Day episode will light up any display from phone to TV with an exhaustive list of Derek Creaven would/never scenarios. You can turn down the sound and just have it loop all day long. It's very possible that only Eric thinks this is a good idea, but you never know. Oh, and this.

Welcome back to Where do I go from here?On today's episode, Katie and Annmarie are talking to Kathleen Chada about her tragic story of losing her two sons Eoghan and Ruairí. On July 29, 2013, Kathleen's husband, Sanj murdered their two sons. The boys had been taken from their family home in Carlow. Kathleen waited, and searched, for almost 24 hours before her husband phoned her and told her, 'The boys are dead'.Kathleen has written a book about her experience called ‘Everything' which is a beautiful though painful celebration of their young lives, but it is also a powerful and rewarding story of how a mother has attempted to build her life back into one piece after the devastation of their deaths. In Everything, Kathleen remembers the man she knew for almost 20 years. In this episode, a sequel to the earlier episode "A Guide to Flourishing" Dr. Jordyn Feingold and Dr. Sanj Katyal address the question, "So what is clinician well-being anyway?" and unpack six core elements that evidence shows best predict well-being: relationships, engagement, vitality, accomplishment, meaning, and positive emotions, or REVAMP. REVAMP is both an acronym and a call-to-action for clinicians to pursue whole-person well-being, and help our patients do the same. Both Jordyn and Sanj are experts in the science of well-being, Positive Psychology, and are living, teaching, and practicing medicine with Positive Psychology or "Positive Medicine" at the forefront.
