Today on the podcast we are discussing niche celebrity. Then we go into a long discussion about bullying, and the issue of modern internet bullying. Anyone can bully anyone these days, not just the people who are brave (mentally wounded?) enough to say it to someone's face. Send us your thoughts after you listen! I used to not wear shorts. Wait, let's rewind. When I was younger, maybe between 12 and 17 or something like that, I loved my legs, and I remember how it started. I had heard my mom in a conversation with her friend who kept complimenting my legs, saying how nice they were. And that was how I started suddenly thinking my legs were the best. But at some point, I started thinking that my legs were not so great anymore, specifically, my thighs. I thought they were too big and did not deserve to be shown. I refused to wear shorts, although I confidently - and strangely - wore mini skirts. Then one summer in 2017, the summer before the end of my marriage - I wore shorts out, on a particularly difficult day. I took pictures, and I saw my legs (and my thighs) in the pictures, and I was beside myself. How come I did not know I looked so good? Or why did I think that I didn't? And that, my people, is how my collection of shorts grew.Prior to this, I only owned two shorts that I would wear outside the house - and only to places like the grocery store where I did not think I'd potentially run into people I knew. I guess I was okay with strangers seeing my big thighs. But oh my, how times have changed!About today's guest: Msendoo - who goes by Kamsendoo (meaning I'm Msendoo) is a digital creator hailing from South Florida. She graduated from Xavier University located in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2019 with a BS in Health Services and Administration. Her claim to fame has been her videos, many of which have gone viral, where she stresses the importance of women feeling good about themselves and their bodies. She is passionate about helping women realize their true value. She wants to help women understand that they are worthy. Period. Reconcile the Aisle
Call-Out Culture With Loretta Ross

“Call-out culture impoverishes our pools of meaning because we don’t get to share what everybody is thinking. Because some people are intimidated by the brutality with which an unfolding thought is received.” - Loretta Ross Today I interviewed Loretta Ross. In this episode we speak about: How her years of activism have given her a perspective on call-out culture Call-out is a civil rights strategy for people in power that are inaccessible. If you have access to people you have a lot of choices before calling people out. Calling out is splintering our potential for change because it is horizontally targeted. And it is moving people who don’t completely agree with us to the right. How opting not to call people out doesn't mean letting people off the hook; every call out opportunity is also a call in opportunity. We will never 100% agree on all issues. 90% can often be good enough. We should focus on calling in the 75%. We should adjust our strategies according to the percentages above and our relationship with that person. How we can woo people back to the progressive movement who have been burnt by call outs. The viral nature of social media allows call outs to explode. Who gets canceled is a matter of power and privilege. Then my character Judy asks about ageism and connecting with younger activists. Bobby introduces a new segment to the show this week, which we will tentatively and possibly permanently title the Lightning Round. These are the books that we talk about a LOT but don’t want to just brush off to the side just because we talk about them so much. Make sense? Each of your hosts have 3-minutes to quickly talk about all the other books that don’t fall under their be all and end all Books of the Week for this week. For the first beta test of this segment, some of the books discussed are: All-New X-Factor, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, D4VE, Hulk, Cleopatra in Space, Black Canary and Zatanna: Bloodspell, Solar: Man of the Atom All-New Ghost Rider, Sinestro and Batman. And then for our regular Book of the Week segment, the gang bring up some fancy comics like: Dakota North, Adventures of Superman #50, Captain Action Cat,  The Adventures of Business Cat, Transformers: Windblade, Superior Spider-Man, Joyners in 3D, Nowhere Men, Batman Eternal and more. For the main part of the show, there’s no specific topic but we have another week of listener questions. Ha cha cha! We’ve been taking the majority of the questions directly from the forum (if you’re not signed up there, you should be!) but we went to Twitter and Facebook and answer as many of the questions you submitted as possible. PHEW!
