In the first episode of season two of Two by Two, we unpack India's evolving economic story at a pivotal moment—amid global uncertainty and rising US tariff threats that some have dubbed India's "second 1991 moment."We break down the promise and illusion of India's economic outlook across two critical dimensions: macroeconomics and markets. The narrative of GDP growth powered by rising productivity is enticing. India stands alone as a large economy where labour, capital, and productivity are all expanding. We explore concerns around job creation, stagnant manufacturing, and deeper structural threats—from AI to climate change. In the markets, domestic money is driving one of the most expensive equity valuations in the world, comparable to that of the US. But beneath the surface lies a more cautious picture: foreign investors are staying neutral, while insiders are cashing out at record levels. From booming inflows into financials to valuation resets in staples and foreign scepticism around consumer discretionary.Whether you're bullish on India or wary of the froth, this episode challenges assumptions and brings a clearer picture to the contradictions shaping the country's economic future.Joining hosts Praveen Gopal Krishnan and Rohin Dharmakumar for the discussion are Aditya Suresh, head of India equity research at Macquarie, and Seetharaman G, deputy editor at The Ken and resident expert on all things retail, joining the discussion.Welcome to Two by Two.-Additional reading:‘Make in India' is a tariff-war sticker job - https://the-ken.com/newsletter/make-india-competitive-again/make-in-india-is-a-tariff-war-sticker-job/Stop hating on China. It's hoped a number of enhancement projects carried out in Ennis will highlight under-appreciated areas of the town. Supported by the European URBACT programme, Ennis Municipal District has collaborated with Ennis Tidy Towns and the Ennis Men's Shed to deliver improvements in a number of locations. Among these are the restoration of cast iron benches in the riverside park park linking Mill Road to Harvey's Quay, a public art project led by local artist Evelyn Sorohan located beside the Mill Wheel, and the installation of flower planters beside the Maid of Erin Roundabout. Don Cullinan of Ennis Tidy Towns and the Men's Shed says these areas that many locals rarely visit.

He shares how the success of his practice inspired the creation of Atlas MD's electronic medical record system, designed specifically for direct care practices. Unlike traditional systems overloaded with insurance-driven features, this EMR streamlines clinical work by removing unnecessary administrative functions. He also introduces his latest venture, Not Health Insurance, a fixed indemnity plan designed to complement DPC by covering major medical costs like hospitalizations, cancer treatment, and emergency procedures. Unlike ACA plans, this model returns money directly to patients and takes advantage of significant uninsured discounts from hospitals that often go unnoticed. By removing insurance barriers from routine care while still providing support for serious medical needs, this approach creates a more efficient and accessible healthcare experience. It also addresses common concerns about physician access and system sustainability, offering a model that prioritizes both patient outcomes and professional satisfaction. While working as a biller and coder during his pre-med years, he saw how much time and money was lost to bureaucracy. Inspired by his father's straightforward trash collection business—“pay once a month, pick up once a week”—he applied the same logic to healthcare: simple, transparent, and direct. His model strips away insurance entirely, offering wholesale medications, low-cost labs, and unlimited access via calls, texts, and in-person visits—all without billing headaches. By eliminating the administrative layers that bog down traditional practice, Dr. Umbehr created a system that puts the focus back where it belongs: on the patient. The result is a more sustainable way to practice medicine that helps prevent physician burnout by allowing doctors to spend time-solving problems, not just documenting them for insurance. His practice has since expanded with partners and new locations, and he's developed tools like custom EMRs and consulting services to help others make the shift. At its core, his philosophy is simple: basic healthcare should be affordable. It is so affordable, that it's “too cheap to insure” without compromising quality. We would love to hear from you! Text us any feedback. Have you ever found yourself wondering how you spent an entire day feeling completely exhausted yet somehow accomplished "nothing"? The mental load you're carrying might be the answer, and you're not alone in feeling its weight. In this candid exploration of mental load, I dive into Dr. Morgan Cutlip's illuminating book "A Better Share" and unpack the hidden burden that many of us—especially mothers—carry silently every day. This isn't just about completing tasks; it's about the constant cognitive, physical, and emotional labor that goes into managing a household and caring for everyone within it.What exactly makes mental load so exhausting? It's the "triple threat" combination of cognitive tasks (the endless to-do lists), physical responsibilities (housework and errands), and emotional labor (managing everyone's feelings and needs) that creates an overwhelming burden. Research shows women typically shoulder all three simultaneously, while men primarily carry cognitive load concentrated in their work environment. The most revealing insight might be understanding what each partner truly needs. Women generally desire to be Pursued, Appreciated, and have a Reliable partner (PAR), while men typically seek Peace, Affection, and Respect (PAR). When mental load isn't shared effectively, both partners end up with unmet needs, creating cycles of resentment and disconnection. This conversation isn't about assigning blame—it's about recognizing a scientifically documented imbalance affecting countless relationships. By understanding mental load and learning to communicate about it honestly, we can create partnerships where both people feel seen, valued, and properly supported. Join me next week for practical strategies on managing mental load as a team and involving children appropriately in household responsibilities.A Better Share by Dr. Morgan Cutlip:https://amzn.to/4itJm6YJOIN ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Follow Along @ - https://www.instagram.com/nikkicronksmith/

Brian Alfaro is the Director of Investor Relations at Headway Capital, a Houston-based private equity firm managing over $500 million in assets. With a background in the restaurant industry, Brian transitioned into real estate in 2017, starting in single-family investing before moving into multifamily. Today, he specializes in building investor relationships and raising capital for large-scale multifamily projects. Get ready for REWBCON 2025, happening from April 10th to 12th! Use my code JOHN at checkout for 10% off your ticket. Key Takeaways: Transitioned from single-family to multifamily investing after realizing the scale and sophistication better aligned with his goals. Investor relations is a long-term game focused on education, trust-building, and communication. Effective capital raising is more about listening to investor needs than pushing returns. Investors should ask more questions about risk, not just returns. Strong communication and transparency are crucial when working with passive investors. Topics: From Restaurants to Real Estate 17-year background in restaurant operations before entering real estate in 2017. Started with the BRRRR strategy, but found single-family investing misaligned with his personality and long-term vision. Making the Jump to Multifamily Joined a multifamily mentorship in 2020 to scale smarter. Chose capital raising as his focus area, learning to nurture and educate investors. Why Multifamily Made More Sense Single-family was labor-intensive with low cash flow margins. Multifamily offered more scalability, better team collaboration, and higher ROI potential. Appreciated the abundance mindset and collaboration in multifamily circles compared to the scarcity mindset in single-family spaces. Investor Relations Demystified Focused on helping investors feel confident and informed through steady communication and trust-building. Building “know, like, trust” takes time—rarely an overnight process. Education-first mindset; avoids industry jargon to reduce confusion. Top Questions LPs Should Be Asking Investors often ask about returns but rarely probe into risks or past challenges. Brian encourages asking about capital calls, past losses, and how operators handled them. Transparency and accountability are key indicators of a trustworthy sponsor. Mistakes New Capital Raisers Make Being too transactional or too numbers-focused instead of building genuine relationships. Failing to understand investor goals—listening is more powerful than selling. Good investor relations = solving problems, not pitching products.
Zelensky's Visit to the White House: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the White House was deemed unsuccessful as he left without securing additional support. Zelensky's subsequent meetings with European leaders were highlighted, emphasizing Europe's role in supporting Ukraine. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's proposal for a Ukraine peace plan was discussed, stressing the need for European leadership with US backing. European leaders, including those from the UK, France, and Germany, are working on a ceasefire plan for Ukraine. The financial contributions of European countries to Ukraine were compared to the significantly larger amount spent by the US. Democrats' Stance During Joint Session of Congress: We criticize Democrats for not standing during various moments of the Joint Session of Congress, including when a young man fighting cancer was mentioned. The episode highlighted the release of nearly 100 known terrorists into the US in 2024, which the Biden administration allegedly knew about but did not prevent. The episode criticized Democrats for voting against protecting girls from competing against boys in sports and for not applauding a young woman who suffered a severe injury in a sports incident involving a transgender athlete. Appreciated the recognition of Texans by President Trump during the Joint Session, including individuals involved in significant legislative efforts. Illegal Immigration and National Security: The release of terror-linked migrants into the US in 2024 was a major point of concern. The episode featured comments from Tulsi Gabbard, now Director of National Intelligence, on the security risks posed by illegal immigration and the administration's efforts to address these issues.
