Today's episode is pulled from the archives, and features Joe Scheidler, Founder of the Pro Life Action League in 1980. He is considered by many the “Godfather” of pro-life activism. Joe is a recognized expert on abortion culture, sidewalk counseling, the spiritual dimension of pro life activism, media relations, and the moral responsibility to fight abortion. While he passed away last year at the age of 93, his legacy lives on through his wife Ann and son Eric, who still run the Pro Life Action League today. Originally recorded in 1994, this talk is full of timeless wisdom, and serves as a fantastic look back to see how far we've come in the pro-life mission, especially as Roe V. Wade hangs in the balance. If you want to get more involved in Pro Life work, make sure to check out the Pro Life Action League's website, as well as 40 Days for Life. Interested in more? Tribute To The Prolife Legend, Joe Scheidler (1/25/21) by Priests for Life
In honor of Joe Scheidler, who recently passed, this is a re-air from way back in 2017 when Mary talked to him and his wife about his new book. It has been edited for time at the end. Also, all of us at Winds of Change offer our thoughts and prayers to the Schediler family. Thank you. Mary FioRito is back with us and that means Monday with Mary, LOL. But we are very, very happy to have Mary back with us today. Today she is joined by two guests, Joe and Ann Scheidler, a husband and wife team that are here to promote Joe’s new autobiography, Racketeer For Life: Fighting The Culture Of Death From The Sidewalk To The Supreme Court and founders of the Pro-Life Action League. They are actively involved with the Pro-Life Movement, in fact 44 years they’ve been involved and Joe and Ann share their history behind that. They also discuss the differences in the times in how each and different generations dealt with pregnancy and abortion, with how not only have feelings changed, but technology and the circumstances surrounding these. Mary later turns the discussion to talk about Joe’s latest autobiography: Racketeer For Life: Fighting The Culture Of Death From The Sidewalk To The Supreme Court, and Joe talks about more on his history with his book in mind, with Ann as well talking about being active with Pro-Life. Mary also talks about with Joe and Anne, a serious subject of how Joe went through a lawsuit once, and emerged triumphant from it. Preisdent Donald Trump is also brought up with this discussion too. A hero on the front lines of the abortion war has passed on. Joseph Scheidler, the founder and national director of the Pro-Life Action League, has died at the age of 93. Mr. Scheidler's impact on the battle for the life of unborn generations is incalculable. Besides his personal influence on pastors and other leaders, Mr. Scheidler was a street warrior, a relentlessly active presence at hundreds of protests and demonstrations at Chicago area abortion mills. The fruit of his work is readily visible, and now we eagerly await the multiplication of those fruits after his death (John 12:24-26). This interview is our tribute to Mr. Scheidler and his untold accomplishments. Appropriately, it was recorded at a Face the Truth Tour event six months ago on July 15, 2020. Joe, then age 92, was witnessing for life in the heat and humidity of an Illinois summer. In light of such passion and dedication, what's your excuse? Joe Scheidler's memoir, "Racketeer for Life," is available here. If you would like to make a memorial contribution to the work of the Pro-Life Action League, please call 773-777-2900.

The Face the Truth Tour consists of pro-lifers demonstrating in front of abortion clinics with graphic abortion photos to demonstrate the reality of abortion. Mr. Scheidler and Monte talked about how this tour got started, and why it is so effective and convicting. They also discussed the pro-life situation in Illinois and America, the hypocritical nature of the BLM activists, and election 2020. Joe Scheidler is the founder and National Director of the Pro-Life Action League.

Dr. Monica Miller, founder and director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, speaks with Jonathon Van Maren about her start in the pro-life movement in the 1970s as a graduate student under the tutelage of Joe Scheidler. 91-year-old Joe Scheidler tells Jonathon Van Maren that it was during a speech he attended by Senator Henry Hyde in Chicago in the early 1970s that he became interested in the pro-life fight. “I listened very carefully to Henry's talk and then I started studying the whole pro-life issue of fetal development,” he says. “I thought this was going to destroy our country because we are taking protection away from the most helpless — the unborn.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
