Karrie is back with a new season of The Honest Pod and she reflects on how much the podcast has been an integral part of the greater mission of Freedom Movement. Karrie leads Freedom Movement organization and its mission to create safe places that foster healing, hope, and the courage to love who God created you to be. Karrie started the nonprofit in 2014 with the understanding that every single one of us is broken and has wounds, many of which are not often addressed within traditional church environments. She saw firsthand that God's true redemptive purpose for our lives does not begin once we're free from pain, rather it stems directly out of that pain. This season of the Honest Pod will have an emphasis on moving from the places that are shattered or stuck in your story to restoration. Some questions that will be reflected on in the upcoming episodes: -What do we do with the pain in our stories? -Why are we still stuck? -What areas of my story do I still need to dive into? -How do we move forward from those places? Karrie begins with the story of Hagar and the pain surrounding Hagar's story. God meets Hagar in her darkest moment and asks her two deeply honest questions. God reveals to us healing begins with honesty and curiosity. By answering those questions, Hagar can step into who God created her to be. Karrie's work within Freedom Movement helps connect people to their stories and reach into difficult questions. God is always at the center of story work. Only God ultimately brings transformation and peace but there are things we can do to partner with God on our healing journey. What does it mean…to not just live…but be fully alive? Not just skim through life, holding our breath till our next experience – not a life where we frantically seek to make our circumstances better – not a life where we chase after things we know will not satisfy, yet we remain stuck in the chase…What if we knew – how to be fully alive? What if our lives were marked by a defiant joy? A lasting richness? On the last night of Jesus life, He tells us what this is. How His joy – can become our joy. How His life, a life to the full and flowing over – can become our life.

If you're tired of chasing fulfillment and still feeling empty, this might be the perspective that changes everything.
Toxins are found almost everywhere: in the food that we eat, in the water that we drink, and in the most common household items we use every single day. To avoid toxic buildup and maintain a healthy body, you must know how to detoxify your system the right way. Zach Gurick chats with Life Enthusiast Dr. Martin Pytela about how toxins damage your body, how food affects your metabolism and genetics, and the small daily changes you can make to achieve real and lasting transformation. They also discuss how superfoods can elevate your diet, the right way to purify water resources, and the experiments you can try to determine your metabolic typing. The information presented in Fully Alive is for educational and informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The body has the ability to send you signs if it is not feeling well, although these are often hard to understand if not downright impossible. But thanks to the Heart Rate Variability (HRV), interpreting those signs has never been easier. Zach Gurick sits down with Dr. Torkil Færø, author of The Pulse Cure, to discuss how HRV can help you escape stressful mode and get into recovery mode. He explains how to acquire deeper insights into how your body feels and works through the measurable data from your heart rate. You might be breathing... but are you actually living? Some days, it's easier to scroll past, stay numb, and check out. That quiet voice saying, “Why bother?” That's apathy. And it's one of the enemy's most effective weapons. Left unchecked, it will dull your heart, steal your purpose, and leave you to rot. But Jesus offers something radically different. He promises a life that's fully alive—a life filled with purpose, passion, and presence. Hannah Driskill walks us through how we can wake up, escape the walking dead, and live a life that is worth living. Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Let's explore what it means to step into the abundant life God offers, by considering a very famous speech from Acts 17 that's full of some pretty surprising and often humorous moments. And through this, we will discover what it looks like to walk through life with God, and become more fully alive. WAYS TO LISTEN & SUBSCRIBE:

Send us a textThat bone-deep tiredness after a weekend filled with surprise visits, thunderstorms, community gatherings, and late-night shifts isn't something to push past—it's something to honor. When fatigue comes from creating memories, from being truly present in your life, it's serving a different purpose than the exhaustion that stems from stress or obligation. Many of us have forgotten how to distinguish between these different types of tiredness. We carry stress psychosomatically, our bodies responding to thought patterns about control and perfectionism that we've internalized. We convince ourselves that if we can just be perfect enough, handle everything perfectly, we'll finally be safe. But that pressure adds up, flooding our system with cortisol and disconnecting us from the natural rhythms of rest and activity. The real question isn't whether you're tired—it's whether your fatigue is evidence of a life you actually want to be living. Are your days nourishing you? Are your actions investing in the kind of experiences that fill you up, or are they draining what little energy remains? Manifestation isn't about escaping discomfort; it's about alignment. Freedom doesn't always require external changes—it begins with the pause, that moment when you interrupt the automatic patterns and check in with yourself honestly. You're allowed to slow down. You're safe to take life at your own pace, to release what's rooted in fear, to stop sprinting toward some imagined finish line of enough-ness.Take a moment today to place one hand on your heart, the other on your belly, and remind your body: "We are here. We are safe. We are listening." Because time is a tool, not a toy—and it's up to each of us to use it wisely.Support the show

There is undoubtedly a new spirit of interest in Christianity abroad in the presumed secular world. Some increases in church-going are even showing up in the stats. But what can be made of the curiosity? Is it straightforwardly to be welcomed? Are there dark sides to newfound enthusiasms?Elizabeth Oldfield is the author of Fully Alive and host of The Sacred Podcast. She has been engaging with the presence of Christianity and religion in society for many years, not least when she headed up the think tank Theos.Mark Vernon is the author of Awake! Many high school students feel pressured by friends and relatives to attend college upon graduation. Interestingly, today's guest had the complete opposite experience. For Darla Beam, college was overtly out of the question as it wasn't something her parents could afford. After exploring one coast to the other, becoming a caretaker for a loved one and everything in between, Darla slowly started identifying her own strengths. She began to realize how much she loved people – more specifically: how she loved being present with them. Being with them in the good times and bad, helping them stir up a vision for what their life could look like and identifying their own goals… this was what Darla knew she was made for. With that, she became a conscious life and leadership coach, who works with people to help them identify and remove barriers that are in the way of becoming all they want to be. This noteworthy episode is inspiring, uplifting, and sure to spark hope in your heart with the realization that it's never too late to make a change or become who you know you were meant to be. “Take your next footstep to the best of your ability. I don't think about the future, I don't think how much further I've got to go. I don't reflect on the past.” What does it really take to break free from the life you “should” live and chase the one your soul is screaming for? In this electrifying episode of SoulTalk, I sit down with legendary ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes, who traded a cushy corporate life for blistered feet, spiritual awakenings, and the most physically and mentally grueling races on Earth. Dean shares the story of the spontaneous 30-mile run that changed everything, what he learned from pushing his body to the edge of collapse, and why real transformation begins the moment you step into the unknown. This conversation is about so much more than running—it's about the human spirit, the courage to leap, and the truth that your limits are often just illusions waiting to be shattered. Timestamps: (00:03:59) – The moment Dean walked away from a corporate job (00:07:08) – The 30-mile birthday run that changed everything (00:11:11) – How Dean prepares for extreme endurance (00:15:39) – The power of presence, mindset, and moment-to-moment discipline (00:25:28) – How to handle fear, fatigue, and the inner voice of doubt (00:27:18) – Tapping into purpose through intention (00:30:39) – Flow states, meditation, and the spiritual side of running (00:40:44) – Dean's advice for aspiring runners (and soulful dreamers) Some Questions I Ask: What triggered your first ultra-distance run—and what did it awaken in you? What internal battles show up during a 50-mile race? How do you stay disciplined when no one is watching or pushing you? How can someone know when it's time to leave the life they've outgrown? What does running teach you about the soul? Is there a deeper reason you run, beyond the sport? In This Episode You Will Learn: How to break out of a comfort zone that's suffocating your soul Why pain, when faced with presence, becomes a portal to awakening Mental techniques for mastering fatigue, fear, and internal resistance The deeper spiritual connection between endurance and self-realization How to find purpose in motion and fulfillment in the unknown Tools to live with radical courage, presence, and no regrets Links & Resources:
Much of ethics is relational: it's about how we treat other people, the world around us, and how those relationships shape who we become. In philosophy, this often gets formalised as a set of virtues to cultivate, duties to obey, or harms to avoid. But today, we rarely talk about sins – let alone the seven deadly sins. Historically rooted in the Christian tradition – pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth – have been understood not just as personal failings. They were taken seriously because they obscured what it meant to flourish: that is, to be fully alive. They are, fundamentally, habits of being that corrode our ability to love. So, what might we learn today from the seven deadly sins? How can these ancient categories illuminate our lives, in a world marked by disconnection and distraction? In this episode, we'll be speaking about the seven sins with Elizabeth Oldfield. Elizabeth is a writer, speaker, host of The Sacred podcast, and the former director of Theos Think Tank. In her recent book Fully Alive, she revives the seven deadly sins – not as a tool for moral condemnation, but as a lens through which to examine our practices and principles. We'll be talking with Elizabeth about how sin, properly understood, can help us confront the crisis of meaning and the collapse of community. We'll also explore her Christian vision of moral transformation and why it's vital to believers and non-believers alike.
