When the feminist movement was hijacked by the sexual revolution, it infiltrated every avenue of a woman's life… including fashion magazines. It's no coincidence the magazines you know and love today feel biased and voiceless. They are literal, editorial pieces of propaganda. & these fabricated stories didn't just begin a few years ago. For 20 years, Sue Ellen Browder penned absolutely fake stories for Cosmopolitan magazine to promote the radical feminist agenda. https://www.ignatius.com/Sex-and-the-Catholic-Feminist-P3564.aspx About the author: Sue Ellen Browder is a freelance writer who has appeared on Oprah, the Today Show, and hundreds of radio talk shows. Her work for Cosmopolitan, New Woman, Woman's Day, and other magazines has given her a lifetime of experience with the women's movement as it unfolded in the media, both on the public stage and behind the scenes. About the book: In Sex and the Catholic Feminist, Browder challenges the notion that you can't be a feminist and believe in God. She echoes John Paul II's call for Catholics to embody a "new feminism," a radical new view of women's dignity. Her goal in this book is to "follow one golden thread of feminism in America—the pro-life thread—to show why it has been ignored by the media and left out of public conversation for fifty years." For Browder, the pro-life movement is about more than abortion and contraception; it's about loving and respecting all human life. While tracing the history of feminism in America, Browder discovered at the core of these various feminist movements a search for personhood. Where do women place their identity and find their fulfillment? Browder ultimately concludes that in our noisy, consumerist society, placing one's identity anywhere other than in God will prove disappointing and unfulfilling. "My hope is that some thoughts presented here will spark a new conversation and help heal one of the deepest political divisions in our nation." — Sue Ellen Browder

How did the women's movement, which fought for equal opportunity in education and the workplace, and the sexual revolution, which reduced women to ambitious sex objects, become so united? In her page-turning book, Subverted, Sue Ellen Browder documents for the first time how it all happened. Trained at the University of Missouri School of Journalism to be an investigative journalist, Sue unwittingly betrayed her true calling and became a propagandist for the sexual revolution. As a writer for Cosmopolitan, she wrote pieces mean to soft-sell unmarried sex, contraception, and abortion as the single woman's path to personal fulfillment. The thirst for truth that led Sue into journalism eventually led her to find forgiveness and freedom and she is now sounding the trumpet and illuminating a way forward for others who have suffered from the unholy alliance between the women's movement and the sexual revolution. The implications of congressional Democrats' proposed Equality Act are “tremendously disappointing,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., says. The House of Representatives already has passed the legislation, which faces what many Congress-watchers believe will be a closely fought battle in the Senate. The Equality Act would make “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” protected classes under federal civil rights law. This means, for example, that the law would require institutions and individuals to treat transgender women not as biological men who identify as women, but as biological females, giving them access to women’s sports and women’s-only spaces.Blackburn joins the “Problematic Women” podcast to discuss the implications of the legislation becoming the law of the land. She also talks about other issues and shares a bit of her own journey to conservatism. Every week I talk to women who've been utterly bamboozled by a culture steeped in feminist propaganda re work, sex, dating and relationships. So many of their problems stem from the sexual revolution, but rarely is this revolution talked about separately from the feminist movement. How did the women's movement, which fought for equal opportunity for women in education and the workplace, and the sexual revolution, which reduced women to ambitious sex objects, become so united? My guest today answers that question in her book Subverted: How I Helped the Sexual Revolution Hijack the Women's Movement. As a long-time freelance writer for Cosmopolitan magazine, Sue Ellen Browder wrote articles meant to soft-sell unmarried sex, contraception, and abortion as the single woman's path to personal fulfillment. Deeply regretting her involvement in such propaganda, Browder now admits that everything she wrote about the sexual revolution was based on lies. Now living a simple life in Wyoming, Sue Ellen is exposing feminist propaganda from the perspective of a whistleblower. If you're a feminist, you're probably familiar with Betty Friedan's “Problem That Has No Name.” This was the idea that “housewives” of the 50s and 60s and widespread unhappiness that stemmed from their oppression. While some of that is certainly factual—being a woman in the 60s had plenty of very real burdens, some of which Betty Friedan correctly identified—today's guest, Sue Ellen Browder, believes that problem DOES have a name: a God-sized hole in our hearts. Sue Ellen is a former writer for Cosmopolitan who witnessed firsthand as the media created the sexual revolution and tried to push women towards a freedom that actually wasn't free at all. She breaks down what the “false feminism” of the second wave feminist movement was, why she continues to identify as a feminist, and why we as modern women can't opt-out when it comes to fighting against lies from the pages of magazines. In the interview Gurley Brown gives a rare inside look on how a once great movement was overtaken by the sexual revolution and modern leftism. Also, we discuss Ivanka Trump’s Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative and the great work the Trump administration is doing to empower women across the globe. We also discuss the disturbing TikTok video a young girl posted right before getting an abortion.Subverted by Sue Ellen Browder: https://www.amazon.com/Subverted-Helped-Sexual-Revolution-Movement/dp/1621643212/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Soon after joining the U.S. Supreme Court in 1970, Associate Justice Harry Blackmun received an unwelcome surprise. Chief Justice Warren Burger put him in charge of writing the majority opinion in Roe v. Wade the ruling legalizing abortion across the United States. Prior to writing that opinion, Blackmun thought little about abortion. But the opinion he wrote plus the enormous criticism the opinion and he personally received turned Blackmun into a strident exponent of abortion insisting that a woman's right to choose to abort her child is a fundamental right. Sue Ellen Browder majored in journalism and ended up working for Cosmopolitan magazine. She tells her story in her most recent book from Ignatius Press, Subverted: How I Helped the Sexual Revolution Hijack the Women's Movement. The research she did for that book also yielded the story of Harry Blackmun and Roe.

Did you know that contraception and abortion were not originally part of the women’s movement? How did the women’s movement, which fought for equal opportunity for women in education and the workplace, and the sexual revolution, which reduced women to ambitious sex objects, become so united? In the book Subverted, Sue Ellen Browder documents for the first time how it all happened, in her own life and in the life of an entire country. As a long-time freelance writer for Cosmopolitan magazine, she wrote pieces meant to soft-sell unmarried sex, contraception, and abortion as the single woman’s path to personal fulfillment. She did not realize until much later that people higher and more clever than herself were influencing her thinking and her personal choices as they subverted the women’s movement. Many pro-life women now reject the “feminist” label because of its association with radical pro-abortion groups and policies, while maintaining their belief in equality, dignity, and rights to opportunities afforded to men. They reject the notion that a movement or belief system that advocates on behalf of the disadvantaged can simultaneously advocate for the right to destroy vulnerable, innocent human life.In the age of the Women’s March and #MeToo, can we address the needs of both women and unborn children? Or is a movement that claims to support the interests of “all women” forever destined to not include the voices and interests of people who identify as pro-life?Confusion reigns thanks to the early promises of the feminist movement and its current manifestation. Join The Heritage Foundation and Live Action for an illuminating discussion with expert panelists as we explore how we got here and discuss what today’s women can do to counter the radical forces that hijacked a worthy cause. Copies of Sue Ellen Browder’s book will be available for purchase. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
