Listen up! When Quincy Jones speaks he may be imparting Yoda-like wisdom or talking about his collaborations with Steven Spielberg, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, or Hal Ashby, to name just a few. His film credits range from The Pawnbroker and In Cold Blood to The Color Purpleand the must-see documentary Keep on Keepin’ On. As a musician, arranger, film composer, and entrepreneur he is without peer, and arguably the coolest guy on the planet. It’s been four years since Leonard and Jessie spent a lively hour with him and they still marvel at the experience. Keep On Keepin’ On, is now streaming on Amazon Prime, iTunes and other platforms.

The Sound Podcast with Ira Haberman

Andy Frasco’s story has been well documented. His live antics are well known. But behind all of that is a gentle guy who deals with depression, insecurity and much more. On his last album Change of Pace, we were all exposed to his personal struggle and on Keep on Keepin’ On that very authentic human condition is exposed once again. He is an excellent showman, front man and prolific digital media content maker, but he is way more complex than all of that. So though he isn’t currently on tour, he is still putting out his podcast, a weekly live stream and tons of content. When Andy and I hooked up and got to talking I was curious to understand how he finds the time to do everything. Inside Today's Country

This week I chat with Rod Black.  A song for the times we are facing today. For 2020, Rod Black has teamed up with Producer/Writer Jeff Johnson who is a 2017 CCMA award winner (Producer of the year) and a 5-time BC Country Music Association award winning Producer. The first release for 2020 titled “Walk On” was co-written by Black and Johnson. The duo has seen major success previously as co-writers with US Billboard charting rock group Jet Black Stare which got signed by industry mogul L.A. Reid to a million-dollar contract with Island/Def Jam New York. The pair also wrote the top 20 Billboard Country song “Keeping On” in 2014 which Jeff Johnson also Produced. In 2019, Rod Black finish the year very strong with the single “Good Times” which was produced by Dan Swinimer and co-written by Rod Black, Chris Labelle (Rivertown Saints) and Dan Swinimer. The song was released in July and quickly hit #1 on SiriusXM Canada in less than 3 weeks following the release. Good Times stayed at #1 for an incredible 20+ weeks. Rod was also nominated for Male Artist of The Year at the BC Country Music Awards. In 2018, Bristol Records released Black’s top 20 Canadian Billboard single, “Keepin’ On”, to the US market. This proved to be successful as it reached top 80 on the US Country Music Row Charts. Black spent all of 2018 touring with his labelmates throughout the United States which included Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. They also performed in parts of Canada. Rod has shared the stage with country acts such as Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Dallas Smith, Meghan Patrick, as well as national rock artists Three Doors Down, Stained & Shinedown. In 2017, Black got the attention of Bristol Records who receive worldwide distribution through SONY/The Orchard. Bristol Records quickly signed him to a multi-year contract. Black’s stage presence and his experience with touring is second to none, while his drive and passion for music is simply unstoppable. Prior to signing with Bristol Records, Rod Black spent a number of years living between Nashville and Texas following the success of “Keepin’ On”. Black spent his time there working with some of the most accredited producers and songwriters, while developing his songwriting skills.  www.rodblackcountry.rocks

16.7.2015 podlehl zákeřné nemoci kytarista a zpěvák Martin Endl. Na úplný závěr pak zazní, vyjímečně podruhé v tomto pořadu, písnička The Cell Give Me An Answer, kterou Martin zpívá.

Posledním albem, ze kterého si poslechneme pár kousků, je Keepin´ On, Rollin´ Hard (2011)  jedné z nejlepších českých jižanských kapel The Cell.

Well, B finally got around to editing a p-cast we’d recorded NEARLY THREE WEEKS AGO. We talk about friends who’ve come to visit, the twists and turns of applying for residency, the successful arrival of our stuff from the US of A, and how our good Italian friend earned sainthood in our eyes over the registration of our new car. We close with a song called, “Keepin’ On” by Paul Perkins. We’re back in the saddle – more to come!
