Episode 33 Who's Repeater? 2 00:00 Theme music 00:55 Intro: 01:20 Feedback: Dave, W6DTW, Made a donation. Thanks! Neil, NG5NG, likes CW and digital mode, and also made a donation. Thanks, Neil! Stan, N7ZQT, recently found the program. He runs a simplex echo station node 146.535 in Tuscon, AZ, and would like to broadcast the Resonant Frequency program. W5RAW, had some trouble downloading the Episode 32. There have been some changes to the web site, and that should be straightened out. Check out the new Resonant Frequency web site at http://rfpodcast.info 09:00 Donations: All donations are welcome, at any amount. All proceeds go directly into better equipment for the podcast. We have a new mixer and microphone, so you should hear the difference here, and atLinux in the Ham Shack. 10:54 Live Show? Richard is considering a live version of Resonant Frequency which would be a round-table discussion of amateur radio topics. If you have a microphone, perhaps with a web camera, andwould like to participate, contact Richard. 12:35 Chat room: Check out the Resonant Frequency chat room on FreeNode.net, #resonantfrequency. There's also a link at rfpodcast.info. 14:18 Song: "Voodoo Chile" by Jean Paul Rena and Terrawheel, from the album "Can't Be Satisfied". 18:26 Topic: Who's Repeater Is It Anyway?, Part II. Richard continues his discussion of what can and can't be said on a repeater, and a warning notice issued by the FCC to an amateur that ignored the wishes of a repeater control operator. A copy of the letter can be found here: http://www.richardbaileytx.info/rfpodcast/?page_id=2974 26:35 Rant: Richard talks about the use of APRS in public service events, and how that presumes that everyone has such capability. This often excludes the newer hams that may not have all the equipment or the resources to acquire the equipment. 36:00 Song: "The Boogie Man" by Papa Don McMinn, from the album "Boogie Man", available here: 39:03 Conclusion: Thanks to IODA Promonet for the music, and to Cheryl and Russ. 41:43 Closing theme: Read More About Resonant Frequency: The Amateur Radio Podcast At www.rfpodcast.info Glossary - See Glossary for terms used on the show.

Part 1 of my conversation with special guests Nick Lorenzen and Mike Piantigini as we discuss the death of rock radio. I've also got the Bonehead of the Week and music from Bob Mould, Hallelujah the Hills, Zeus and The White Stripes. Show notes: - Boston alternative rock station WFNX was sold to Clear Channel recently - Rock radio has been on life support for quite some time - Too much radio programming and formats - WFNX was pioneer of the alternative format - Nick: Knew of WFNX more by reputation as a kid - Mike: College radio introduced me to a world beyond classic rock and metal - Jay: R.E.M. and U2 were first so-called alternative bands I got into - WBCN was revolutionary back in late '60s and '70s, playing free-form rock - Eventually became formatted like all the rest - WBCN switched to alternative format in mid-'90s to compete with FNX - Eventually, BCN went to more talk: Stern, Opie & Anthony - FNX went downhill for a while with nu metal - Nick: FNX had rebounded in last few years - We old guys don't get newer bands like Mumford and Sons - FNX wasn't going after geezers like us anymore - Many more options for listeners now: iPod, streaming audio, Pandora - The "Mike FM" stations just regurgitate '90s alternacrap - The much-bigger WBCN went off air in '09, turned into a sports talk station - The market for rock music has diminished; kids are listening to more hip hop and pop - Plenty of new rock bands coming out all the time - Nick: Hard rock is used more in sports arenas and commercials - To be continued next week - Bonehead of the WeekMusic:Bob Mould - The Act We Act (live) Hallelujah the Hills - Get Me in a Room Zeus - Anything You Want, Dear The White Stripes - Jimmy the Exploder Completely Conspicuous is available through the iTunes podcast directory. Eclectica Episode 7: Audible AnomaliesI've been sitting on this episode for a bit; trying to decide whether or not to publish it as-it was when I first "finished" it, on the night of its creation. Since my microphone woes have not quiiite yet been resolved (though a remedy is fast approaching on the horizon- with the help of UPS ;)), it occurred to me to try something new for a change, and put a little twist in the mix. What exactly? Well, I thought I might let my screen reader speak for me this time, as our temporary show announcer! ^_^ I thought it'd be something neat, new and unique, you know? But in the end, I decided to go with the advice of a more seasoned podcaster. Therefore, in lieu of letting Jorgan the Electronic Voice Announcer speak up for me (to save you all from having to bear with my cruddy microphone), I chose to re-produce it, w/my own (hopefully pleasing & endearingly oddball) voice. :)As for the rest of the show's content; a couple of weeks ago I got a "bee in my bonnet" to suddenly make an impromptu, relatively short podcast centered around all of these great bits of music that have not (as yet) fit into any particular show or theme on Eclectica. Therefore, they're the show's "anomalies" as it were. :) -This is NOT so say that these pieces or bands are weird or bizarre or freakish in any negative sense of the words. Not one bit. These artists & their music all rock considerably (otherwise, why the heck would I feature them here??). They are all just so good, their music could go just about anywhere. And thus, mehopes you see my problem. ;)But I'll let the music speak to you for itself. :)As always, if you have any thoughts or ideas you might like to relay to me regarding the show, I'd love to hear from you; my rockin' public. :D You can always feel free to contact me (via my new e-mail addy; djselchie@gmail.com) about programming, artists whom you might like to hear featured on Eclectica, etc., or for any other reason if you wish. And musicians, bands, recording artists etc. are (again, as per usual) most welcome to submit their music for potential use on the show. :)Aaaanyhoo..! All that being said, on to the music!!I truly hope you enjoy what you hear. ^_^Hugs to All,DJ SelchieTrack List1. Metro Station - California2. Shanghai Restoration Project - Preface3. The Silent Treatment - The Secret (Jamie)4. Death Cab for Cutie - Title and Registration5. The Sisters 3 - Gremlins6. Bloc Party - Flux7. My American Heart - The Shake (Awful Feeling)8.
