Due to the fallout of the NBA Cup qualifying losses, the Lakers and Suns meet up for the first of two trips on Sunday to the Valley of the Sun over the next nine days to face the Suns. And despite not having Austin Reaves in the lineup, shooting 19% on 3-pointers as a team, and LeBron and Luka shooting 3-19 from three and committing 14 turnovers, the Lakers used a 24-0 run in the third and fourth quarters to pad themselves a comfortable lead. But the Suns came roaring back and eliminated a twenty-point deficit as it came down to the final moments of the game, where they took the lead. It came down to a final minute from LeBron (26 points), which included a layup, two missed free throws, two MADE free throws, providing the last-second block on Grayson Allen's shot attempt, and helping to cause Dillon Brooks to get ejected on a controversial foul call that, when the dust settled, left the Lakers with a heart-stopping 116-114 victory over Phoenix.
