This year's Pride Anthems is probably one of the campest episodes I've ever put together. I've done this on purpose because I think this year in particular the LGBTQI+ community could do with a break from the relentless persecution that it has been suffering around the world - especially in the USA. I've never understood how one small section of the community just wanting to live their lives in peace can cause so much hatred from other people in the broader community? So my small contribution is to provide 2 1/2 hours of joyous, hands in the air music to help take your minds off the negativity and celebrate the fabulous global community that we are. There are so many divas packed into this set that it is a veritable who's who of empowering vocalists we have come to love over the years.. Rather than list them all, you can listen to them and hopefully find joy in this trip down memory lane. Having said that, the remixes are vital to the overall project and there are some heavy hitters here. Dirty Disco, 7th Heaven, Division 4, Wayne. G and Toy Armada all feature stellar remixes alongside Russ Rich & Andy Allder, Tommer Mizrahi, Robbie Carrigan, Almighty and Thunderpuss. Just one month to go before Pride month kicks off in June, but before that, we need to discuss the May '25 edition of UP! I wanted a balance of house/pop tracks to open the set, then moving into some big room bangers to close it out. The set kicks of with the smooth StoneBridge mix of "Dance In The Dark" and rolls into Ed Sheeran's latest "Azizam". I used a track by Hollway on my last episode which I really liked and then found a bunch more of his on Beatport. I really like his music and the fabulous Andy Allder has mixed a number of his tracks including "I Need To Know". Dario Xavier features three remixes here for Becky Hill (a different style for him), Benson Boone and Jordan Firstman. Mark from Dirty Disco gives his signature uplifting energy to Gaga's "Abracadabra" as do Toy Armada and Jace M on Jules Liesl's "Cherry". The set closes out with big room mixes for Lola Young and Katy Perry respectively. The May edition should definitely keep you UP! and moving until Pride rolls around. Here we are with the all male vocal edition of Men - Mardi Gras Men. I wanted to get this done before the actual main party weekend but I had so much going on, I had to push it back further in the month. This coming of age 20th edition of Men wastes no time in getting into it. The set kicks off with the awesome remix of "My Universe" by Coldplay from my good friend Rob of Division 4 and then swings into the funky sound of "Good Times". 7th Heaven feature three remixes here. The first is for Guy Sebastian's "Battle Scars". Guy is one of my all time favourite male vocalists. He won the first season of Australian Idol and he's voice is sublime. I've met him a couple of times through work and he is an absolute delight. If you're not familiar with his music (he writes all of his songs), then check him out. I've also met Adam Turner a few times in London and he is also a delight. He is the lead vocalist on the song "Amazing" featured here. He is also a music producer and his remixes are awesome. I've know Wayne G. for years and he is so much fun. He throws in two beautiful mixes for Bruno Mars and Darren Hayes respectively and then we're off into the big room sound. Robbie Carrigan is producing some amazing remixes (check out his Soundcloud page) and here he delivers a top notch mix of "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life - another Australian band from the 80's. Toy Armada & DJ GRIND deliver two anthems for Hardwell and R5 respectively and how could I not include any set without a couple of stand out mixes from DJ Mark De Lang of Dirty Disco. Here he works his magic on "I Feel Love" and "Stay". The set closes out with another beautiful 7th Heaven remix for boy band A1. The men absolutely rule in this pumping set. The March 2025 edition of Mardi Gras Anthems marks a decade of anthems as I started making them back in 2015. For this set I've reached back to classic hits from the 80's and 90's with modern updates as well as some more recent songs from this millennium. The set kicks off with a repurposed mix of Kylie's "Better The Devil You Know" followed by an updated mix of "Happenin' All Over Again" by Lonnie Gordon, which was one of my favourite Stock Aitken Watermen songs from back in the day. The amazing Division 4 provides three stand out mixes here for Madonna, Aretha Franklin and Vanessa Amorosi respectively. The equally amazing Mark from Dirty Disco also features four of his mixes here and as always, I'm very grateful to them both for providing me with their remixes. Classic songs from Anastacia, Céline Dion, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Tina Cousins and Cher all feature here. One of my all time favourite songs from the 90's was "Heaven" by Sarah Washington and here it is given a killer new remix from 7th Heaven. The Goddess, The Queen. I have been a Kylie Minogue fan since she first released "The Locomotion" as a charity single back in 1987. Back in those days it was the Tweens and the Gays who were her loyal fan base but as Kylie matured, so did her music and her style. Her unique ability to reinvent herself without losing sight of herself and always being incredibly generous to her fans has kept her relevant in the changing landscape of pop music. I have been to all but one of her concert tours in Australia and I make no apologies for that. A few years back, an amazing thing happened in Kylie land, at least as far as I'm concerned anyway. The extraordinarily talented Mark from Dirty Disco started remixing her more recent single releases from her albums "Disco", "Tension" and "Tension ll". He also took on two of her global classics "Spinning Around" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". For me personally, this is the best thing that could have happened to Kylie's music on the dance floor. I've always thought that a lot of her remixes on past hits always seemed to be lacking punch or drive. Not the case with Dirty Disco. Mark takes her songs and completely rebuilds them into stomping dance floor anthems. In honor of her latest Australian tour, (which I will be attending on March 3rd this year), I've put together an anthology of Mark's remixes for Kylie to help prep the fan base for her tour. The remix geniuses from Almighty are back in this second edition of their Best Of. In this set, I've used a lot of their high energy club mixes from the late 90's and 2000's. This particular time in their anthology was filled with punchy club mixes that had a higher BPM with lots of synth builds and drops. There is a good spread of songs from original artists as well as cover versions, all of which have been given stellar extended mixes. Featured are hits from Cher, Pet Sop Boys, Ricky Martin, Kylie Minogue, Evelyn Thomas, Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry to name a few. I did put a different version of "Perfect Day" on this edition as I love that song so much. I also included two classic songs from Donna Summer. I have been wanting to do a best of Almighty mix since the first one I released for Division 4 a few years back. Like the Hex Hector and 7th Heaven anthologies, there is just so much music to choose from, hence the reason I decided to break it up into a part 1 and a part 2. The track selection for part 1 was a long and drawn out process. There were so many songs I wanted to include and before I knew it, I was up to 50+ songs. Coming to my senses, I trimmed this down to 36 tracks sitting in the 124 to 130 BPM range. Part 2 will explore the higher energy remixes from 132 BPM plus. Almighty officially launched in 1989 with their aim to produce dance remixes of tracks that did not have suitable remixes for the club scene at the time. These tracks were mostly covers of the original artists but they do have an extensive list or remixes for original artists as well. My formative clubbing years were in the 90's and the Almighty sound was synonymous with uplifting, driving dance tracks. Almighty had a team of in house remixers/producers as well as remix teams that would come in on an ad hoc basis. John Dixon who went on to form 7th Heaven was an original in house producer. Almighty releases songs with singers, a lot of whom perform under pseudonym's, as a policy for not identifying already famous singer/song writers in the form of 'projects'. Although they were well established in the gay club music scene by the end of the 1990's, Almighty gained world wide attention when they produced and mixed singles for Cher such as "Believe" and "All Or Nothing" (one of personal favourites). They have since gone on to remix songs for Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Cheryl Cole, Usher, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross and even Elvis Presley. Their remixes are aptly titled 'definitive', 'essential', 'transensual', pop'd up' and 'anthem'. If you enjoy hands in the air, pure joy vocals on the dance floor, then this is the mix for you. It's hard to reconcile that another year has flown by and we are in December already. This final edition of UP! for 2024 has a blend of house and club tracks to keep you dancing into the New Year. The set kicks off with Alok's new track "Body Talk" then moves into 7th Heaven's new remix of their classic track "This Is Your Life". Dirty Disco features four remixes here, the first being "Set Yourself Free" by Celeda. A smooth house mix that glides along. Mark also does remix duties on tracks for Lady Gaga, BB Hayes and Cher. I'm really looking forward to the release of the fourth installment of his Pop Classics Reworked early in 2025. Division 4 delivers a punchy mix of Tate McRae's "It's Ok I'm Ok" as does Robbie Rivera on "Your Kinda Love". Drew G (working here as Drew Gilbert) spins Katy Perry's track "Crush" into dance floor heaven and Robbie Carrigan delivers a power house new mix of "Live You All Over" by Deborah Cooper. The Edson Pride remix of Kylie's "Lights Camera Action" is an anthem and 7th Heaven once again bring their unique skills to a cover of Cher's "You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me". Cher herself teams up with Kelly Clarkson to close out the set with "DJ Play Me A Christmas Song". I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to summer Down Under :) In celebration of it's approach, I've put together a delicious set of summer inspired house tracks and big room bangin' anthems. The set kicks off with three house infused tracks from Melanie Masson, 808 Beach and Sigala respectively. Sagi Kariv delivers a decidedly different sound for him on his track "Feel It" and the always amazing Division 4 puts his unique spin on Belly Dancer". Dirty (the man can do no wrong) Disco pumps out three awesome mixes for Gracie Abrams (daughter of director JJ Abrams) and Charli XCX as well as Kylie Minogue's new track "Lights Camera Action". Taylor Swift has proven herself to be one of the most enduring pop stars of this millennium. Her Eras World Tour broke all sales and attendance records and her global popularity keeps escalating. Her music speaks to a generation of fans and she somehow still manages to come across as personable and relatable. I have used so much of her music in my sets and have produced three full Essential Taylor Swift episodes. This time I wanted to focus on two remix artists who have produced some of the most beautiful and uplifting remixes of her songs. They are Russ Rich and Andy Allder. Russ is a DJ/Producer based in San Francisco who has played at many clubs and events in and around SF. Russ has teamed up with various other producers such as Leo Frappier and produced countless amazing club tracks. Andy is a London based producer who has teamed up with Wayne G and Mark De Lange (Dirty Disco) among other producers and consistently turns out a variety of amazing club mixes. The August '24 edition of UP! hits hard from start to finish. Kicking off the set is the awesome Tony Moran remix of "Keep You Waiting" by Max Rae. Tony Moran features another excellent remix later in the set for KRU & Cha Cha Malone. We lost an iconic diva recently with the passing of Evelyn Thomas. She was huge in the club scene particularly in the 80's and 90's with hits like High Energy and Reflections. I've included her later hit "Stick To The Plan" with a brilliant Wayne G & Porl Young remix. The always amazing Dirty Disco features two killer mixes for Chappell Roan and Kesha respectively. Henriq Moraes is turning out some excellent circuit remixes and there are three of his featured here. Becky Hill's "Outside Of love" is one of my favourite songs this year. It's time for the men to show out. This brings us to the 19th edition of the men series - focusing on all male artist , specifically with an LGBTQ leaning. This set is filled with classic tracks from the 80's, 90's and beyond all with updated, floor filling remixes. The set starts out in the vocal house arena before quickly planting itself in the club/circuit/big room arena. I wanted this edition to have drive and energy with a focus on uplifting vocals delivering a positive message. Welcome to Pride Anthems volume 13. It must be June - the traditional Pride month around the world. This years Pride celebrations have come under attack, particularly in the USA from predominantly Christian conservative groups. These people don't like the idea of a section of the community carving out a living space for themselves and seem to be jealous of our innate ability to have a fabulous time while supporting each other against their prejudice. Our community is very diverse and very accepting of pretty much everyone. So in that spirit, I present to you the 2024 edition of Pride Anthems. Was there ever a more appropriately titled song than ABBA's "Dancing Queen"? The Jackers Revenge remix of it is awesome and kicks off the set. I wanted the track selection on this set to reflect empowerment and freedom of choice in life and love. These 21 songs do that I believe. Some are classic dance floor anthems such as "Touch Me", "Hot Stuff", "Believe" and "Searchin". Others have been purposefully written and recorded for the community such as "Fight On" and "Chosen Family". Included are hit songs from Whitney, Mariah, Rihanna, Taylor, and of course, Kylie. Remixes come from across the spectrum with standouts from Division 4, Moto Blanco and 7th Heaven. The wonderful Mark from Dirty Disco once again came to my rescue and generously forwarded me some advance mixes as well as a private one. Moving on with the 'Best Of' series, I present to you the Freemasons. This dynamic duo consists of producer/DJ's James Wiltshire and Russell Small. James has also produced under the pseudonym 'Jimmy Gomez' and Russell is one half of Phatts & Small. Both me hail from Great Britain and from what I can gather, hit notoriety with their remixes around 2005 or so. Their original song "Love On My Mind" was released at this time and had major chart success in the UK. That same year they had commercial success in the USA with their massive club mix of "Mesmerized" by Faith Evans. During the 2000's and 2010's they continued to release their own original tracks featuring artists such as Katherine Ellis, Amanda Wilson, Sylvia Mason-James, Siedah Garrett and Peyton as well as remix for international artists such as Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Whitney Houston, George Michael and Beyonce` to name a few. Similar to 7th Heaven, the Freemasons have an understanding of how to take a song and spin it into a dance floor anthem. Signature house rhythm's and funky beats underscore the journey that is a Freemason remix. There are no 3 minute 'extended' mixes with these guys. Taking you on a journey on the dance floor is their specialty and I am here for it. I had to filter a serious number of awesome mixes to come up with this compilation which features 34 songs clocking in at just over 4 hours. Feast your ears on the brilliance that is Freemason. This month's edition of UP! has loads of drive and energy. I've included mostly new tracks mixed in with a few classics from the past 15 years. The set kicks off with some great house tracks from Jamie Liddell and TK. Amuka is back with her new song "Bourgie Bourgie" and Division 4 has a brand new track "Shake That". Dirty Disco turns in three stellar remixes for Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Beyonce` & Miley Cyrus respectively. Book ending these three are a house classic from Dancin' DJ's and 22 Lockdown respectively. I didn't realize that it has been six weeks since I posted my last episode. A mistake I've remedied with the (slightly late) April 2024 edition of UP! This set starts off with a string of commercial vocal house hits and transitions into full on main room madness. Kicking off the set is Ryan Skyy's original song "Never Right" followed by Liza Jane's "Sacrifice". It's great to hear some new music from Chris Willis on his collaboration track "Eyes Wide Open". Until Dawn & Division 4 deliver some punchy remixes along with Tony Moran and Toy Armada. The amazing Dirty Disco turns out two stellar remixes for Dua Lipa and Beyonce` respectively and Roland Belmares delivers a floor stomping remix on Ariana Grande's "We Can't Be Friends". Continuing the main room sound are remixes from Henriq Moraes and Jace M. The set closes out with the killer duet track "Dance Alone" from Sia & Kylie Minogue. Let's talk about men for a while - specifically male vocal artists - and by men, I mean Mardi Gras men. It's time for the annual celebration of male vocalists in the 18th edition of Men, the Mardi Gras edition. I had planned to publish this on the actual weekend of Mardi Gras but I got caught UP! flip flopping on the track selection so instead, I'm publishing it on my actual birthday (March 5th). There are so many different artists and styles on this edition with new and classic remixes of their songs but the intensity and euphoria are constant. The start of the set has a heavy 80's and 90's feel with classic tracks from Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Rick Astley (I saw him in concert in Sydney in the early 90's - brilliant) and Haddaway. Moving through the set come monster tracks from The Weekend, Troye Sivan, Jason Derulo and boy bands Boyzone & One Direction. Adam Lambert is the featured performer at this years Mardi Gras so I had to put one of his amazing songs on this set. As the set moves into more big room territory hits appear from Coldplay, Alex Newell, Michael Jackson, Ed Sheeran and Jason Walker. Rounding out the set are two awesome tracks from Joey McIntyre and Wham!. Now Lets talk about the remixes. Crack open the champagne. Mardi Gras Anthems is celebrating it's 21st edition in March 2024 with 21 featured artists. The annual Sydney Mardi Gras party falls on the first weekend of March this year so in readiness for that, I'm releasing this milestone edition in advance. This set epitomizes the term "Anthems" with tracks from legendary divas such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Deborah Cox, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Madonna and the list goes on. There is even an appearance from legendary 80's dance floor divas Evelyn Thomas and Miquel Brown. The February 2024 edition of UP! is pure pop heaven. I say this because the set is populated with tracks from Dannii Minogue, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Sia & Kylie Minogue. A veritable divadom of pop diva's. Kicking off the set is the Matt Pop mix of Taylor Swift's beautiful "The Archer". Tay Tay just hit Australia this weekend kicking off the Australian leg of her Eras Tour with sold out concerts of 90,000 fans in Melbourne before heading to Sydney, so I wanted to include this mix to acknowledge the enormous cultural impact her world tour has had. Until Dawn remix two tracks for Sarah Christine and Deniece Pearson respectively. Division 4 delivers a crunchy, funky remix of "Looking For A New Love" which is my favourite cover in recent years. Dannii Minogue is back with a new track "Thinking 'Bout You" and it is nice to hear another Soul Seekerz remix. The always on point Dirty Disco features three remixes here for JLo, Ariana and Sia & Kylie. I included the awesome Tommer Mizrahi remix of Madonna's "I Rise" which I forgot I had. The set closes out with the thumping HenriqMoraes remix of Kygo & Ava Max's hit "Whatever". This set has a strong house feel to it kicking off with the excellent collaboration between Nick Jay, Jet Boot Jack & Zoe Badwi "Listen To Love". Mark Knight & James Hurr pay tribute to Kathy Brown's classic "Turn Me Out" and Robbie Williams & Sophie Ellis-Bextor share vocals on "Immortal".I love pretty much everything that Trouser Enthusiasts do and their mix of Dannii Minogue's "We Could Be The One" is no exception. Here we are at the end of the year and this December '23 edition of UP! just manages to slide in before the New Year. I'd like to say that it was my intention but in all honesty, I was distracted by Xmas, multiple friends December birthdays and the looming presence of the approaching new year. This set wastes no time in getting into it with some thumping house tracks kicking off with the excellent David Guetta/Kim Petras collaboration "When We Were Young" mixed by Apollo. I pulled a classic Division 4 track from a few years back which I forgot I had. "Clap Your Hands" has some great samples from Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love". Ray Isaac Turns in a killer mix of Paloma Faith's "How To Leave A Man" as do Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow on Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club". Mark from Dirty Disco delivers three more outstanding remixes here for Tate McRae, Cactushead and Barry Huffine ft. Zhana Roiya respectively. Toy Armada & Jace M work their magic on Ed Sheerans' "Eyes Closed" and Brazilian DJ/Producer Henriq Moraes has three featured remixes here for Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris ft. Sam Smith. I'm really liking his style and there are several great remixes he has produced for classic divas which will definitely be appearing on my Mardi Gras anthems in March next year. This edition of Essential Taylor Swift took months to put together and is the culmination of her musical career up until the time of publishing. Unlike the previous 2 editions which were loosely chronological in track listing, this edition covers the whole span of her career but in no particular order. Admittedly there are fewer songs from her early years but there a very few remixes of her earlier music that I could find. Her Era's World Tour is in full swing and is on track to become the highest grossing tour by any artist in the world. I didn't even try to get tickets for her Australian tour dates. I thought I'd save myself that disappointment and be satisfied seeing the movie :) She has released some high quality music since my last edition in 2021 so naturally, I was keen to get the club remixes which I knew would be awesome overall. This Era's edition features remixes from Ray Isaac, Ryan Skyy, Optical Disco, Barry Harris, CLX, Dark Intensity, Joe Gauthreaux, Brett Oosterhaus, Jasmin, Dario Xavier and Toy Armada & Jace M. I would like to give special thanks to Russ Rich & Andy Allder, Division 4 and Mark De Lang of Dirty Disco. I badgered them all for new remixes that they might have been hiding and being the extremely generous people they are, they provided me with some advance and private remixes. The November '23 edition of UP! has a mixture of new and classic songs interspersed through it. I recently got hold of the hard to get 7th Heaven club mix of P!nk's "All I know So Far" and as I love all things P!nk, it had to go on. Division 4 kindly provided me with his mix of Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and as I also love all things Tay Tay, it had to go on as well. Dave Aude` has updated Kimberley Locke's cover of "I Can't Make You Love Me" and Dave Matthias' new track "Let The Night" is killer. Dirty Disco features three remixes here. Mark seems to have a thing for Troye Sivan (which I totally support and am here for) and his remix of "One Of Your Girls" is excellent. Sia's new song "Gimme Love" gets a super remix from Armin van Buuren and the Jusko/Blacklow mix of Chappelle Roan's song is all energy. The back end of the set has some excellent remixes of Kylie Minogue and Dua Lipa's recent hit singles and then I threw in some classic Selena Gomez and Sagi Kariv. The set closes out with Dirty disco's remarkably blended mix of Sam Smith's cover of "Beautiful" with Christina Aguilera. The Best Of series continues with a mega anthology of three DJ/producers who's work I have loved for the better part of a decade now. I'm talking about the incredible Toy Armada, DJ GRIND and more recently, Jace M. Toy Armada hails from the Philippines and started his DJ career at the age of 23. He held residencies at major clubs in Manila and as far as I know, he still resides there. Starting his producing career in 2010, it really took off when he met his long time collaborator DJ GRIND in 2012. They became immensely popular on the world circuit party scene and began playing at venues around the world at some of the biggest circuit and Pride parties. I had the pleasure of meeting them both in Sydney in 2018 when they were playing at a party called DayWash. I only decided to go last minute so wasn't aware of the DJ lineup. Whilst on the dance floor, I said to my friend that the DJ likes playing a lot of Toy Armada & DJ GRIND remixes. He looked at me and said 'that's because they are playing you idiot'. Naturally I made a beeline for the DJ booth and introduced myself. They were both very pleasant and very humble while I fan girled over them. I haven't been able to find a lot of info on DJ GRIND as there hasn't been a lot of activity on his podomatic or Facebook page since 2020. Toy Armada has also collaborated with Tommy Love and Mauro Mozart. Jace M is originally from Washington DC and began DJ'ing in 2002. Moving to Detroit, he started up a number of events which are still running today. His collaborations with Toy Armada continue the theme of massive, thunderous big room circuit anthems. Between the three of them they have remixed and produced for some of the world's biggest recording artists including Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Ella Henderson, Loren Allred, Adele, Cher, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, P!nk and of course, Kylie Minogue just to name a few. The October '23 edition of UP! wastes no time in getting right into it with some crunchy house tunes and some vocal anthems. Leading the way is a thumping new house track from Dave Matthias "Got To Have" which is followed UP! by Australian Producer Nick Jay's collaboration with Matthew Clanton "Do It Anyway". Here finally (just like Spring) comes the September '23 edition of UP! This edition is filled with floor fillers ranging from commercial house tracks right through to big room bangin' anthems. The set kicks off with Beverley Knight's new song "Last One On My Mind" and rolls into Tom Grennan's "Remind Me". This guy has an amazing voice if you're not familiar with him. Russ Rich & Andy Allder's original track "Be Your Strength" is an uplifting anthem and demonstrates their ability to hit a home run for the dance floor. Dirty Disco features four remixes here for Selena Gomez, LP, Jake Shears and Rita Ora. The man can do no wrong in my opinion. Chimira covers Carly Simon's classic "You're So Vain" mixed by 7th Heaven who also feature a remix for Fidget Spinners. Toy Armada & Jace M deliver two killer mixes for Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift respectively and a funky house mix of Kylie's new song "Tension" comes from Bearly Disco. August 31st - such a pivotal day in the year. It's the last day of summer in the northern hemisphere and the last day of winter in the southern hemisphere. It's also the day I decided to make the third edition in the Recovery series. I was going to release it at the end of World Pride 2023 in Sydney and then changed my mind to the end of Mardi Gras 2023. When that didn't happen I thought I'd get to it for the end of Pride month (June) and finally I thought, fuck it, I'll release for the end of summer. Both sides of the equator could do with a recovery. As with previous editions, this set sits at a lower BPM and isn't meant to be as high energy as the monthly editions of UP! It's designed to pop on either before you head out or more specifically when you get home and want to have a social get together where you can still dance without having a heart attack or just chill with friends. The set has a mixture of current charting artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Sam Smith mixed in with classic artists such as Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul, Cathy Dennis, Sabrina Johnston and The Human League. There is a nice spread of remixers used here but I have to give a shout out to Division 4 and Dirty Disco for their continued generosity in providing me with their outstanding mixes. Following up from The Best Of Hex Hector Part 1 comes The Best Of Hex Hector Part 2. This second part covers his remixes that move into the higher energy, higher BPM range. The set kicks off at 132 BPM and progresses up to the high 130's by the end. There are some absolute classic tracks here from artists such as Shannon, Faith Hill, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston, Angie Stone, Celine Dion and Britney Spears. I couldn't decide which Jennifer Lopez track to use so I put two on - ""Love Don't Cost A Thing" and her monster hit "Waiting For Tonight". I've placed a few male vocals on here as well including Ricky Martin, Kevin Aviance and Marcus. This set highlights the partnership that Hex Hector had with Dezrok as they worked together on many of these mixes. There are also a number of HQ2 mixes with Mac Quayle. Pride month may be over but July carries on with world wide parties and celebrations. I would like to add July's edition of UP! to the festivities. This set is jam packed with uplifting house and club anthems to keep the party going. Kicking it off is the Sonny Federa & Ella Henderson collaboration "Like I Used To" followed by Australia's own Ricki-Lee with her new single "On My Own". Producer Jolyon Petch remixes this song as well as his own track "Make A Move". Australian producer Nick Jay delivers a killer remix of Australian diva Tina Arena's 90's hit "I Need Your Body" which I meant to put on last month's Pride Anthems but completely forgot. (I'm very vague sometimes). Division 4 delivers a funky remix of Lizzo's "Phone" which I really like. Dirty Disco (Mark de Lange) has been very busy turning out some outstanding remixes recently and I feature six of them in this set. Artists include Kylie Minogue's "Padam Padam" (her massive summer smash hit), Dua Lipa, Kristine W, Sam Smith & Madonna, Ariana Castelli and Adam Lambert - a veritable smorgasbord of Dirty Disco. We lost a legend of the music industry in late May of this year. Tina Turner was an incredible artist turning out hits from the 60's through to the 2010's. I've included the Joe Gauthreaux remix of one of her biggest hits "The Best" (RIP Tina). Debby Holiday delivers a powerful vocal on her Pride hit "Love Lift Me Up" collaborating with Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow. Toy Armada also features two remixes here for Mary Kiani on her cover of "Giving Up, Giving In" as well as Kim Petras & Nicki Minaj's massive hit "Alone". I was a little bit slow off the mark getting my annual Pride Anthems edition out for June this month. None the less, here is the June 2023 edition. This is 27 remixed club anthems starting off with some smooth house remixes and moving towards main club and big room club anthems from the middle through to the end. The set kicks off with Dirty Disco's classic house remix of Candi Staton's "Young Hearts Run Free" and moves into Division 4's funky mix of Angie Stone's "Wish I Didn't Miss You". Jacked features two mixes here for Divine Inspiration and Chic respectively and DJ KaktuZ turns in a great house mix of "Believe" by Cher. Division 4 features two more mixes for Kylie Minogue and Madonna respectively and the Beachbums do a nice re-edit of one of my favourite songs from last year "Fearless" by Tom Grennan. Jet Boot Jack has been turning out some fantastic house mixes recently and two of his feature here. Shauna Jensen released an uplifting anthem for World Pride in Sydney this year with fantastic vocals. I had to put the Dirty Disco and Debby Holiday collaboration "Find A Way" in this set as it has fast become one of my all time favourite club tracks - period. The messaging is powerful and Debby's vocals have never been more amazing. With it's official release recently, Mark (de Lang) did a remix of his original remix and it is stunning. Toy Armada has been busy with Jace M turning out mixes for Janet Jackson and Kelly Clarkson as well as his original take on the 90's classic Sunchyme. Keala Settle's "This Is Me" is a powerful anthem and Joe Gauthreaux's remix lifts it up even more. I snuck a couple of male vocals in this edition as I didn't do a Mardi Gras Men this year so I had to put Tony Moran's awesome version of "Pride" In The Name Of Love on here as well. The last few tracks are pure pop joy from Demi Lovato and Boyz With Toyz. Vanessa Amorosi's powerhouse "Absolutely Everybody" closes out this massive edition of Pride Anthems for June 2023. I've been looking forward to doing a Hex Hector anthology for a long time but he has such a massive catalogue of remixes, I wasn't sure as to how I would approach it. I decided to split it into two parts. The first part being remixes with BPM's from 126 to 132 and the second part with remixes from 132 and up. That being said, it took me three weeks to select a body of mixes for part one and narrow that down to the final 32 tracks featured on this first edition. From what I've been able to find out, Hex Hector (Hector Ortiz) started producing music back in 1992 in New York. His sound was synonymous throughout the 90's and 2000's where he became famous for remixing songs for artists such as Deborah Cox, Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin and the list goes on. For anyone who was going out to clubs in that era, you would be well aware of his mixes of songs such as "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" by Deborah Cox and "Heartbreak Hotel" by Whitney Houston. Hex's mixes took us on a journey and generally clocked in at 8 minutes plus. Not like the 'extended mixes' of today which barely make it to 3 minutes. He mastered the drop and build in infectious house/club mixes and playing one of his mixes (of which I played many) would guarantee the dance floor being full. Hex worked with a few regular producers such as Dezrok, Soul Solution and Jonathan Peters and he even formed a production duo with Mac Quayle called HQ2. The man is a true legend of the club world and this first edition of the best of Hex Hector features 32 all time classic house and club remixes over 4 hours which are guaranteed to keep you moving with your hands in the air. This month's edition of UP! glides through a number of commercial songs with radio friendly remixes before heading off into a bigger club sound. The set kicks off with Rita Ora's "You Only Love Me" followed by The Oliver Heldens & Kylie Minogue collaboration "10 Out Of 10" which is a slice of pop heaven. Calum Scott lends his beautiful vocals to "Whistle" which is beautifully mixed by Apollo. Dance diva Inaya Day has a new song out with Matonii and The Weeknd & Ariana Grande team UP! for another hit "Die For You". P!nk does an awesome cover of Sinead O'Connor's original "Nothing Compares 2 U" and of course Dirty Disco take the honours on another stellar remix. Lewis Capaldi is everywhere all at once these days and his hit "Forget Me" gets the club treatment from AudioKraft. Division 4 delivers a great remix on Elisa Rose's "B.O.T.A." as does Matt Pop on Rozalla's "Magnificent". I will have to do a Best Of set for Matt Pop. He really does deliver some great, uplifting mixes. JetFire puts their spin on David Guetta & Bebe Rexha's "I'm Good" and Enrry Senna reinvents the classic "Seek Bromance" with a thumping big room remix. Welcome to the April 2023 edition of UP! The front end of this set is funky, commercial house from big name artists and producers. As it progresses, it moves into the big room club sound with excellent remixes throughout. The set kicks of with the Alok & James Arthur collaboration "Work With My Love" and moves into another house collaboration between popular producers Purple Disco Machine & Kungs on their original track "Substitution". There are quite a few male vocalists on this set, six to be exact. I didn't do a Men edition for Mardi Gras so I thought I would place a few more men on this set. Tom Grennan, Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran all make an appearance here as do Years & Years. Welcome to the 20th edition of Mardi Gras Anthems. This edition leans more towards the big room anthem sound with a mixture of new and classic songs. The set kicks of with Adele's "Easy On Me" beautifully remixed by Mor Avrahami and glides into Whitney's "Don't Cry For Me" given a solid club treatment by Leo Frappier. Dario Xavier features two remixes here for Agnes and Kylie Minogue respectively. Joe Gauthreaux turns out two thumping remixes for Kelly Clarkson and Rita Ora respectively and Guena LG gives an awesome remix on the cover of Gloria Estefan's classic "Don't Let This Moment End". I had to include Avril Lavigne's "Head Above Water" as her vocals on this are fantastic and the Tommer Mizrahi remix is an epic club journey. Paul Goodyear delivers a driving remix of Ultra Nate's "Free" and the Cajjmere Wray tribute remix of JLo's "Waiting For Tonight" is outstanding. I gave Miley Cyrus's "Flowers" a run here because it is huge on the charts right now and Dirty Disco delivers an excellent remix of it. Big Kid's remix of "Easy As Life" by Deborah Cox kicks ass and he very generously provided it to me for this set. Lara Fabian and Beyonce` also feature classic songs with updated remixes here. The set closes out with two classic tracks from Jessica Folker and Cindy Mizelle with classic remixes from Jonathan Peters and Ritchie Santana. If you are looking for non stop anthems, this set is an epic end to an epic Mardi Gras in 2023. Mardi Gras has popped up so quickly this year. World Pride is kicking off as Mardi Gras comes to a close this coming weekend, which is the last weekend of February. This edition of Mardi Gras Anthems arrives a couple of days before the big party which is celebrating it's 45th anniversary. For this set I wanted to present a more house flavoured disco/pop sound. These are all songs I have heard at the MG party over the years with the exception of a couple which came out last year. The set kicks off with Cyndi Lauper's timeless classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" remixed by the Ghostbusterz. Division 4 works his magic on three remixes here for Belinda Carlisle, Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston. His remix of "So Emotional" is the definitive mix in my opinion. Dirty Disco, who is playing at World Pride/Mardi Gras events features four amazing remixes at the front and back end of the set. Melbourne based remixer Luin turns out a funky mix of Madonna's "Who's That Girl". Check out his soundcloud page for stacks of great remixes.. Subesque's house classic "Ain't No Love" is updated by Jet Boot Jack who is turning out some really great remix productions. It wouldn't be a MG anthems edition without remixes from 7th Heaven, Hex Hector and Wayne G. All feature remixes here. Gloria Gaynor's classic anthem is remixed by Dirty Disco and the set closes out with Debby Holiday's uplifting "Joyful Sound" and finishes with Beyonce's amazing "Listen" mixed by DJ Escape & Dom Capello. It's time for the men to take centre stage on the dance floor and in this special edition of Men for World Pride in Sydney, that's exactly what they do. Keeping with the Pride Men theme, I've selected tracks from male artists who identify as gay, bisexual or non binary. The set kicks of with the incomparable George Michael and his mega hit song "I Want Your Sex" given a modern spin by Huffnpoof. Division 4 creates a fantastic cover of "You Don't Treat Me No Good" and Sam Smith's new track "I'm Not Here To Make Friends" is a club anthem. Darren Hayes features twice in this set, first up with his Savage Garden collaboration "I Want You" and later with "Step Into The Light". Dirty Disco features two excellent mixes for Erasure and Years & Years respectively. Magnus Carlsson released a song for Stockholm Pride with a great remix by SoundFactory and Ross Alexander covers "I Love My Radio" released in the 80's. One of my favourite male artists is Matt Zarley and his uplifting song "Somebody 4 Everybody" is brilliantly remixed by Moto Blanco. Chris Willis' hit "One Life" features here (I do love me some Chris Willis) and Tommer Mizrahi delivers two top mixes for Jason Walker and Kevin Aviance. The set closes out with the exquisite 7th Heaven remix of "Feel The Music" by Sean Ensign and an updated version of Sylvester's classic disco track "Mighty Real" mixed by Jet Boot Jack. February is here and it brings with it World Pride in Sydney as well as the Sydney Mardi Gras. These 2 events take UP! pretty much all of February and lead into March and I believe that this is the first time a World Pride event has been held in the Southern Hemisphere. I decided to split the usual Pride Anthems episodes into two parts - one in February for World Pride and the other one I will release in June this year which is traditionally Pride month around the world. As always with the Pride releases, I try to select music with a strong, positive message as it is a celebration of the LGBTQI community after all. This set kicks off with 2 very recent remixes of 2 classic tracks. "Joy" by Staxx and "Stronger" by Britney Spears. Division 4 features 3 back to back remixes here for Missy Elliott, Soulsearcher and Heather Small respectively. Tony Moran's classic remix of Madonna's "Crazy For You" is also here, along with Therese's "Put 'Em High" expertly remixed by Jet Boot Jack. Mary J. Blige's "Just Fine" is such an uplifting dance floor anthem as is Mel B's "For Once In My Life" mixed by JRMX. Moving towards the back end of the set are classic tracks from Beyonce`, Bex, Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston and Inaya Day. Toy Armada delivers an updated mix of Kim English's massive hit "Everyday" and Dirty Disco close this edition of Pride Anthems with an outstanding mix of the original Sister Sledge hit "We Are Family". Welcome to 2023. The new year brings with it a bucket load of new music. The January '23 edition of UP! is a blend of commercial pop, light progressive house and thumping big room bangers. The set kicks off with "Chemistry" by KREAM & Camden Cox. Ava Max's "Million Dollar Baby" moves into Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary". Surely you've seen the dance craze associated with this song on TikTok? Cahill has been doing a lot of remixes teaming up with TDAG and they turn out a great mix of "Waiting List" by Ana Shine. Will Holland, who turned out excellent vocal trance mixes turns in a more progressive sound on "Afterglow" by Ana Criado and Toy Armada & Jace M work their magic on Whitney's "Don't Cry For Me". Tony Moran provides the vocals on a cover of Duran Duran's classic "Ordinary World". Roland Belmares takes P!nk's "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" to the main room floor - it's still one of my favourite songs from 2022. Rihanna and Beyonce` round out the maiden edition of UP! 2023. Two big months coming UP! with World Pride taking place in Sydney in February followed by the 45th anniversary of Sydney Mardi Gras in February/March. Something I'm very much looking forward to. Finally - after having in my mind to make this special podcast episode for over 5 years, I have managed to get my act together and can happily present to you the Best Of 7th Heaven. This was a massive task and the end result turned out to be a massive podcast. Over 3hours and 20 minutes of hit after hit mixed by the incredible guys from 7th Heaven in the UK. 7th Heaven is made up of Jon Dixon who is the main musician and programming engineer and Andy Wetson. Jon initially did freelance work for the Almighty label but set up their 7th Heaven label in the mid 2000's. I think the first 7th Heaven remix I became aware of was for "Shine On" by Degrees Of Motion and it is still to this day, one of my all time favourite mixes of theirs. The popularity of 7th Heaven grew as their ability to transform songs into uplifting, floor filling club anthems gained them more and more commercial success. As I was selecting songs for consideration for this episode, I was up to 80 or so within an hour. I managed to shave that down to 32 songs. Like Dirty Disco, Division 4 and Wayne G before, making the final selection was not easy. There are just so many good remixes to choose from. In addition to mixing for artists such as Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Chris Willis, Samantha Jade, Kelly Clarkson, Nicole Scherzinger, Kylie Minogue, Cher and a seemingly endless list of artists, 7th Heaven have produced their own tracks featuring artists such as Katherine Ellis and Belle Erskine. I wanted this podcast to be a love letter to all the amazing work that 7th Heaven deliver and what better way than to have it primed for New Year celebrations. Happy New Year everyone. Welcome to the final UP! for 2022. This edition sneaks in just before Xmas and is packed full of funky house and club anthems to see you through to the New Year. The set kicks off with another great track by Jack Wins "Good Love" and slides into "Medicine" by Trucco. Rihanna's massive hit "Lift Me Up" from the Black Panther sequel gets an excellent treatment from Ray Isaac as does "I Just Want Your Touch" by Jolyon Petch. Division 4 has two remixes featured here for Meghan Trainor and Naked Flame respectively. LeAnn Rimes has a great new track "Spaceship" which has an amazing remix from Dave Aude`. Years & Years cover Crystal Waters' classic "100% Pure Love" mixed by Dirty Disco and 7th Heaven do a classic, energy remix of "Drop Dead Gorgeous" by NVS. Probably my favourite track on this set is P!nk's new song "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" remixed by Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow. It is such a joyous and uplifting song and all the remixes I have of it are stellar. Guy Scheiman reinvents "Like It Is" as does Big Kid on the amazing "Run" by Becky Hill. I never put Christmas themed songs on my podcasts and I promised my brother I would stick to that again this year. However, I folded and placed Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas" as the closing track as the Lord N' remix is quite uplifting. That's about as festive as I get. Don't hate me Nick. Continuing on with the 'Best Of' series celebrating the remix artists who bring it to the dance floor, I present to you the Best Of Dirty Disco. This is my most ambitious podcast to date (or at the very least, my longest). Mark De Lang is the driving force behind Dirty Disco and he is based in Houston, Texas. I've had several conversations with Mark and he is an extremely nice man and generous to a fault with his remixes. He has given me early access to some of his exclusive mixes and is always happy to share with me and the club community in general. I cannot thank him enough for his incredible generosity towards me so I wanted to put together an amazing selection of his remixes displaying the various styles that he has produced over the years. As with my previous editions for Wayne G. and Division 4, it is impossible to encompass all of Mark's great remixes in one volume so I was strict with myself and came up with this small selection. Mark has also collaborated with other well known music producers such as Matt Consola from Swishcraft and Andy Allder. When I see an artists remix come out with the Dirty Disco stamp on it, I immediately know it is going to be a quality club floor filler. Dirty Disco has mixed tracks for Whitney Houston, Beyonce`, Pink, Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Tina Turner, Madonna and the list goes on. Dirty Disco will be in Sydney for World Pride 2023 and Sydney Mardi Gras and I am very much looking forward to meeting him in person. Hi everyone. My apologies for the late arrival of this episode. I have recently transitioned from an old analogue system of recording my podcasts to the more digital system using GarageBand. Being the non technical Boomer that I am, I had to study many Youtube tutorials and get some advice from the experts at Store DJ in Melbourne, so a big thank you to them. I actually had this episode planned out back in mid October but only managed to complete it today so I decided to combine October & November into one episode. Tom Grennan's vocals on Lionheart are amazing. Kryder & Natalie Shay produce a nice cover of rapture and Lee Davey-Brown has a cool track "Ah Yeah". Nicki Minaj hits back with her new song "Super Freaky Girl" and Sam Smith's mammoth hit "Unholy" gets a bangin' remix from Brian Cua. The set closes out with Nick Jay & Eleanor's cover of "Silence". I think I need to change my scheduling around because September is nearly over and I'm just releasing the September '22 edition of UP! Anyway, here it is. This set starts off nice and funky with tracks from Jamelia, Beyonce`, Martin Ikin, Matt Goss and Fedde Le Grand kicking the set off. As the set transitions into a bigger room sound, Danny Morris, Russ Rich and Toy Armada bring the energy and lift the set to the next level. Dirty Disco feature two outstanding remixes here and Elof de Neve and Thiago Antony add to the energy. This month's edition of UP! is dedicated to my friends Gary and Mark who were recently married and threw a wedding of epic proportions (which I am still recovering from). Summer is making an appearance here in Australia and I am impatient as fuck waiting for it :) Hopefully this September edition of UP! will help speed up the process. Closing out summer in the north and winter in the south is the August 2022 edition of UP! This month's edition has a funky house intro and moves into some big room house tracks towards the middle and end. Kicking off the set is the PBH & Jack collaboration with Hannah Boleyn "Summer Never Ends". I was introduced to Martin Ikin while I was at the gym and first heard "How I Feel" ft. Hayley May, so now I have several of his tracks. Elton John & Britney Spears have a massive hit on their hands with "Hold Me Closer" mixed by David Michael. The same applies to Beyonce` & Madonna with "Break My Vogue" brilliantly remixed by Ray Isaac. The always reliable Dirty Disco with Matt Consola turn out two excellent remixes for Gypsy Love and Janice Robinson respectively. Melbourne based remixer Luin, delivers a power house remix of Kylie's "Supernova" with other standout remixes coming from Roberto Ferrari and Rafael Barreto. Elof de Neve reinvents "Every Moment" by Brenda Reed to add to the list. The set closes out with a beautiful mix of "Magic" by Olivia Newton-John. I was saddened to hear of her passing earlier this month. I met her a few times and she was delightful and gracious. The mix of this track was done by Peachy & Dan Murphy. RIP - ONJ.
