Margus Hunt joins Matt Taylor on today's daily update to explain his excitement to return to the team after signing a contract extension.
As we continue with our outlook on the Indianapolis Colts roster heading into the offseason, we now jump over to the defensive side of the ball. The Colts' defense definitely turned some heads in 2018 despite a first-year defensive coordinator and so many young pieces contributing throughout the year. Today we focus on the defensive line, a group that had some great performances this year, but also needs an infusion of talent just the same. Margus Hunt and Jihad Ward, two guys at opposite ends of their career, could be said to headline the Colts' free agent group, along with Al Woods. Hunt has continued to be productive despite his being undersold before signing with the Colts and doing it in two different defensive systems. His age, and what Ballard sees as his legitimate expected production to be in 2019 will play a huge role in whether he is brought back or not. Woods, who like Hunt is 32 right now, but as a sort of a one-trick pony against the run game, his future with the Colts may be in doubt, but Ballard has been known to throw out some surprises. Ward, on the other hand, presents youth, solid production with limited experience as well as the versatility the team is hoping to acquire to build around this up-and-coming defense. Amongst the rest along the line, it's fun to think of Kemoko Turay, Tyquan Lewis, Al Qadin-Muhamad all developing into a solid rotation of young talent, while the team still has the services of Jabaal Sheard and Denico Autry on the roster. Grover Stewart and Hassan Ridgeway were basically designated run defenders, but they too are young and you can see that only a move here, or a move there this offseason could give the unit a monster boost for the 2019 season. How it all shakes out will be extremely interesting to watch as this unit could very well provide a ton of change for the Colts between now and training camp. Learn more about your ad choices. The Indianapolis Colts found themselves in a familiar position Sunday in Philadelphia. They, despite having an awful day offensively, were in a position to control their own destiny. Unfortunately, and as you already know, the Colts failed to take advantage of that, and several other opportunities throughout the game. Between Andrew Luck and Frank Reich something has got to change with how this offense is performing. Luck threw the ball 40 times Sunday and until late in the final possession, was at a rate of less than 3 yards per attempt. That should be unacceptable by anyone's standards and certainly by Luck and Reich's. The running game is almost non-existent, the receivers aren't getting open regularly enough -- especially not early in their routes -- and they are missing opportunities in the red zone. The Colts missed a couple opportunities for touchdowns with drops, and bad throws, but the lack of aggression that Reich promised this fanbase has been noticeably missing. Yes, Reich will go-for-it more on fourth down than the previous Colts' regime, but where's the willingness to attack the opposing defense? Now, it's not all doom and gloom. In fact, I don't think it's doom and gloom at all. We know what this offense behind Luck is capable of. But, the offense has been a true strength for this team, otherwise they'd be getting run out of the stadium every week so far. Darius Leonard is on pace to become an All-Pro linebacker in his rookie year, Margus Hunt is making everyone a witness right now, and the rest of the Colts defense is making enough plays to hold offenses out of the end zone with regularity. The Colts need more sustained drives, a more aggressive, creative approach in order to take advantage of the litany of possible WINS left on their schedule. This loss was a true heart-breaker. But, the Colts dug their own grave when they had the ball, and should truly be 3-0 right now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for their Week 3 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles the personnel availability for both teams is not pretty. Each squad faces a loss of multiple heavy contributors, which ironically also will feature the return of Carson Wentz for his 2018 debut. The Colts won't have Jack Doyle, Anthony Castonzo or Marlon Mack against a very stout Philly front seven, but the Eagles' backfield is coming in with a depleted backfield and receiver corps which may be a lot for Wentz to deal with in his first game back. Today we welcome Kevin Hickey (Colts Wire) to dive into what the Colts have left for them to throw at the Eagles on both sides of the ball, and Michael Kist (Bleeding Green Nation) joins in the second half of the show to take a look at the other side of the equation. The Colts certainly have their hands full this Sunday, and will likely see tight end Erik Swoope elevated to the active roster in place of Doyle, and we should expect Margus Hunt to pull double duty with, both, Denico Autry and Hassan Ridgeway already confirmed to be OUT in this one. Can the Colts defense find success by going after the Eagles' offensive strengths? Will Jim Schwartz be able to out scheme Frank Reich considering their familiarity with each other's respective tendencies? We look at all of these situations and much more in our Week 3 primer to get you all set for this weekend's game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In honour of Nat's birthday HdP has brought in the most sugar-laden cake possible and booze to wash it down. Surely this can't affect the way the gang tackle the show? Luckily they've got Marek Larwood in to keep them under control... In other news: Nat does 'jobs' with Dennis Wise - Dan correctly assumes it's a sawn-off-and-wheels sort of job; Marek is filming a prank show in one of Britain's roughest cities but has survived so far; Dan talks films; Nat talks Film Fandango (cheers again Marek); Tebow is STILL a Patriot! He;’s completed 5 of 19 passes for 55 yards but he’s still on the squad list as it gets slimmed to 77. "I'm rooting for (Tebow) and I'm in his corner, but I have the privilege of letting Bill make those decisions,” says Robert Kraft; Week three of the pre season came and went – the battle of New York ended with a Jets win in overtime; Tony Romo threw two TD and the Hard Knocks cameras captured James Harrison beating everyone at arm wrestling; Margus Hunt calimed that everyone in his native Estonia ate nothing but “straight up growth hormone”; Pavel Datsyuk, Red Wings ledge, when asked what he though of Russia’s new spate of homohpboic laws responded: “I am orthodox and that says it all”. This was taken as meaning he hated homsoexuals, whichy caused a Twitter meltdown and a demand that he apologises. So far he has not done so; Miami Heat coach, Erik Spoelstra decided to go and drop some knowledge on the Seattle Seahawks this week. Players including Russell Wilson watched dumfounded as he turned up to the Hawks training camps: "Just having him here in front of the team and just having him in meetings with us and having him out here in practice is an unbelievable experience for everybody,"; Dan brings an amazing Jive Talking game; loads of Bodeans Mailbag action and much, much more...
