POPULARITY
In today's episode of The Actor's Career Compass, Martin Bentsen delves into the inspiring journey of Mindy Kaling, highlighting the significance of being typecast to grow a successful acting career. Mindy Kaling began her career as a writer, honing her skills at Dartmouth and participating in comedy and improv groups. After college, she co-wrote a parody play called Matt & Ben, which became popular and caught the attention of TV producers. This led to her auditioning for a writing position on The Office, where her comedic talent landed her the role of Kelly Kapur.Mindy's career skyrocketed from there, and she created and starred in her own show, The Mindy Project. Her success story teaches aspiring actors that having skills beyond acting can open doors and create new opportunities. Kaling leveraged her writing and comedic talents to gain visibility and credibility in the industry. She also strategically used popular themes and names to attract an audience, proving that understanding and utilizing one's strengths can lead to significant success in the entertainment world.Martin emphasizes three key takeaways from Mindy Kaling's career: the importance of having diverse skills, leveraging existing popularity to build one's own success, and staying true to what you do best. These lessons can help actors navigate their careers and achieve long-term success. “Do you like apples? Well, I got her number. How ‘bout them apples?” It's 2023 and it is finally time for Matt to see Gus Van Sant's 1997 Oscar-winning film, ‘Good Will Hunting'. Written by and starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, we dig into one of the greatest movies of the 20th century. How did Matt go so long without seeing this? Does it hold up after all these years? And is this the greatest Robin Williams performance of all time? And don't worry, if you haven't seen this either, it's not your fault. We chat about all this and put together our “Boston Movies” Rushmore Mountain. Enjoy! We're going to broach a couple of big stories and then welcome on three friends of mine to form a Libertarian/Anarcho-capitalist Round-Table. First, Seymour Hersch breaks big news about what we already "theorized" had happened with the Nord Stream pipelines, in 2022; then a developing story on what seems to be a civil war/mutiny inside of Project Veritas -- is James O'Keefe being forced out? Our roundtable guests tonight are (Moonlit) Matt, Ben (BasedHeisenberg), and Max (Ancaporado), who co-host The Altar podcast, a cozy little shit-post that goes live on Thursday evenings. We are going to discuss some news and issues of our time through the lens of a society farther to the right of the Constitution itself. The one that made movie stars out of Damon & Affleck has been discussed by nearly everybody for the past 25 years, but we managed to find several new wrinkles in this well-written dramedy about friendship, love, grief and advanced math. Matt & Ben won Oscars for their quotable script and so did Robin Williams for his heartfelt performance as Damon's therapist. Williams is at his best in Good Will Hunting and now we can see how his character has even more depth than we thought at the time. Gus Van Sant got marvelous work out of those 3 stars, not to mention Stellan Skarsgard and Minnie Driver. It's an atypical film for an arthouse director like Van Sant, but he wrings all the emotion and comedy out of apples, caramels and Bah-ston coffee. So let the quirky, cool and sexy lady win you over with a kiss as the 445th Ellises' Analysis psychoanalyzes Good Will Hunting. But, hey, don't sit around eating caramels when you can get a 20% discount off Sparkplug Coffee. It's the Matt, Ben and Ant Show, with Alex and Adam in the wind, and apparently on Instagram. Events, unsurprising, proceed smoothly in that Matt-having-a-beer-and-being-"chilled"-on-the-stoep way, as the boys chat about SARU's new contracting model, the Junior World Cup, the pure savagery of the Crusaders' back three, and the permutations of Super Rugby qualification. It's arithmetic, so Ant gets a wee bit excited. Pure bants all day...so, a typical week in the ERB universe! Music by @monstroid, "80s TV Show". You can find us on Soundcloud, iTunes (soon to be defunct), Sportify, Stitcher, and acast.
Special guest Sebastian from an undisclosed Film and/or TV production company joins Matt & Ben to talk about their most anticipated 2020 films, and also who they would cast in a new Fantastic Four movie.

Prem Singh and Michael Pugliese join host Elias on Featured Chapter #14 on the podcast. Prem and Michael wrote and starred in the upcoming feature film Tiger, which also stars Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke and Janel Parrish. The film is based on the true story of Pardeep Nagra, (played by Singh) a Canadian Sikh boxer who was banned from boxing by the association for his refusal to remove his facial hair (which went against his religious beliefs). Michael and Prem met in an acting class, and together co-wrote their first screenplay which ultimately became “Tiger.” One may wonder how two unknown Canadian actors raised $4 million for a feature and acquired the likes of Mickey Rourke. They actually found the gym he frequented and awaited their opportunity to pitch the film. Needless to say, Rourke was intrigued and signed on to play the role of Frank Donovan. Dubbed the next “Matt & Ben” by various outlets already it will certainly be interesting to see if that proves to be true come next Oscar season. www.thetigermovie.com https://www.facebook.com/tigermovie2018 Twitter @teampremsingh @tigermovie2018 @mjpugliese Instagram @tigerthemovie @teampremsingh @mjpugliese Email the show themccpodcast@gmail.com Twitter @themccpodcast Twitter @EliasG77 Instagram @themccpodcast Facebook www.facebook.com/themancavechroniclespodcast www.themancavechronicles.podbean.com
