This week, Tommy is joined by actress Anna Cathcart, star of the #1 smash-hit series XO, Kitty on Netflix. The series has taken over the world, first appearing in Netflix’s Top 10 in over 90 countries when it debuted. XO, Kitty is a spin-off of the streamer’s wildly popular franchise, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, which was based on the bestselling young adult trilogy. The series is often praised for unpacking issues that are top of mind for teens today. Everything from self acceptance to classism, to sometimes complicated relationships with parents to discovering one’s sexuality and more. Today, Anna opens up about how it feels to open up Netflix and see her face in the number one spot on the charts, the best and most challenging parts about growing up in the spotlight, the best advice she got from friends and co-stars Lana Condor and Janel Parrish, if she reads the fan edits and comments when a new season of her show drops, why she was nervous diving into some of the emotional and vulnerable scenes this season, what exploring Kitty’s sexuality means to her, if she is happy with how Season 2 ended, what it’s been like working with co-star Sang Heon Lee, what she wants to see happen in Season 3, if she views herself as successful after working in Hollywood for most of her life, what her biggest dream project is, how XO, Kitty almost was an entirely different concept, and so much more. I am so beyond excited for this episode to be out in the world. Janel Parrish, my sweet and incredibly talented friend, kindly joined me on this week's WITN episode! We chat about everything from her recent endometriosis diagnosis to relationships, previous roles, the resurgence of the Bratz movie, and more. I am so thankful that Janel shared her #endometriosis journey with us. So many women struggle with this disease, and it's still understudied, stereotyped, and misunderstood. The multitude of side effects is overwhelming, and just like #pcos , they look different on everyone. The more we talk about it, the stronger our community gets. Please share your stories. You are not alone!
Our main course this week straddles between homage and parody and does both equally well. "Sugarplummed" hits all the right buttons with Maggie Lawson and Janel Parrish winning the award for best buddy performances of the year. For dessert, we look in on The Camarena Family to see how their Christmas is shaping up in Episode six of "Holidazed." We then reveal the winner of "Finding Mr. Christmas," while touching on some of the highlights of the series. Your table is always ready at The Hallmark Cafe!
Maggie is joined by special guest Janel Parrish, to talk about their new Hallmark movie "Sugarplummed" (releasing Saturday, December 7th). They also share behind-the-scenes stories, self-care tips, Starbucks favorites, and the inspiration behind Janel's go-to "Me Time" routine!

Chinggay and Patty were at a loss this week—how could Ryan Paevey and Janel Parrish come up with a dud? Why do hardcore Christmas musicals even exist? Who green lighted these movies? Thankfully, yet another “You've Got Mail” remake comes to the rescue and gives us something worth watching. Plus, favorite actors make a fantastic comeback.Christmas Sail (Katee Sackhoff, Patrick Sabongui)Christmas in Harmony (Ashleigh Murray, Loretta Devine, Michelle Williams, Luke James)Coyote Creek Christmas (Janel Parrish, Ryan Paevey)The Christmas Promise (Torrey DeVitto, Dylan Bruce)Thanks to Pietro Lazatin for our music and Paola Lazatin for our cover artFollow us on Twitter: @makeithallmark and on Instagram: @butmakeithallmark
This week we also get to interview actor Azriel Dalman, star of Hallmark movie "Coyote Creek Christmas" Can you believe he is almost seven years old and been acting more than half his life? We talk about what it was like working with Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey, audition process and cookies. Lots of cookies. Lol November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Kayla has epilepsy. This week, I am again joined by Kayla as we review 2 of the four new Christmas movies this week, titled Christmas in Harmony starring Ashleigh Murray and Luke James, as well as Coyote Creek Christmas starring Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey. One theme we found occurring in both of these movies is "Sucky Parents and Misplaced Anger". Parents of the leading lady in both movies kept huge secret from their daughter and instead of being even remotely angry at the parents, she took it out on her love interest. In "Christmas in Harmony", we had a good laugh at the title, share our wish for more singing, and the disappointment that it wasn't like Sister Act movies, lol. "Coyote Christmas" was a bore. We both found the storyline just boring. The real star of the movie was Azriel Dalman who played Noah. He should definitely be in more Hallmark movies. A couple of things happened this week. Lol. Two Hallmark actors spoke publicly on their stance with GAC. Paul Campbell and Emilie Ullerup have put out statements along the lines of they will not be working for the company unless they see significant inclusion in the channel. We were also featured in a Heavy article about these very statements since these statements were prompted by Camille calling out these actors. https://heavy.com/entertainment/hallmark/hallmark-stars-speak-out-gac-family/ November is also Epilepsy Awareness Month. Kayla has epilepsy. Guys, I can't lie (seriously I'd be off Santa's nice list) Hallmark absolutely CRUSHED it this week in the 2021 Christmas movie line up. Okay, Christmas in Harmony wasn't my favorite, but Coyote Creek Christmas with Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey? If there's not a sequel next year I swear…and HMM dominated the 10pm spot again with The Christmas Promise with a true American icon Patrick Duffy. Rounding it out was Christmas Sail and I wasn't expecting much but left crying so, you could say Hallmark nailed this weekend's movies. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Countdown to Christmas begins on Friday, October 22, 2021 with new movies expected to premiere every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was recently announced that there will be 41 original movies this holiday season premiering across many of Hallmark's entertainment platforms, including Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and the Hallmark Movies Now app. Will the Hollywood Strike Affect Hallmark Movies? According to Heavy.com, the impending IATSE strike could possibly affect the production of new Hallmark movies either not filmed yet or not completed with post-production. It will be interesting to watch this unfold over the next few weeks. What Movies are in 2021 Countdown to Christmas? Of the 41 original new movies, Hallmark has released the titles, cast, and synopses for only nine movies. We know the turn around time on these movies is really tight. Some movies on the schedule are likely not even in production yet. On September 30, 2021 @SleepyKittyPaw shared this list of movies expected to premiere during Countdown to Christmas. This person says they are 99% sure the 19 movies listed under "Not Yet Officially Announced" are all for the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas. This week I have a special podcast episode interviewing Marco Grazzini star of Hallmark's newest movie release Right in Front of Me. He plays Chef Nick Guevarra. For those who may not be aware, this is a groundbreaking role for Hallmark. Marco is the first Filipino lead in a Hallmark movie. Janel Parrish and Marco are the first leads of Asian descent for Hallmark channel. And it's an honor to interview a fellow pinoy. Marco and I discussed Asian representation, Filipino culture, similars/differences with his character, working with Janel Parrish and much more. We also do briefly discuss AAPI hate and our hopes and dreams for the future as far as representation. This is a personal podcast for me. And I can't oversay how happy I am to discuss this movie, my culture with Marco. You can listen to our podcasts in all platforms you hear them. In the second episode of our “Back to School” series, we review HIGH SCHOOL EXORCISM (2014), starring Jennifer Stone, Janel Parrish, Shanley Caswell, and Ione Skye. High school student Chloe (Stone) has hit a rough patch and is acting out as a result. Is her disorderly behavior a result of trauma combined with undiagnosed mental illness? Or is something more malevolent to blame? Chloe’s best friend, the normally rational Lauren (Parrish), believes the latter and seeks out the assistance of holy roller Olivia (Caswell) to cast out Chloe’s demons once and for all. PATRON MOVIE DISCUSSION: This movie was selected by my patron supporters over at the Cinematic Doctrine Patreon. Support as little as $3 a month and have your voice heard! Out of the last few discussion episodes we’ve had here on Cinematic Doctrine, I must say going through this episode was a real treat. Prepping for this episode was a little difficult as the few discussion points we approached with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before seemed as though they wouldn’t spark any worthwhile or meaty discussions. Now, I say that, and that’s after we did a discussion episode on Sonic the Hedgehog, so maybe I’m just being a little ridiculous! Even so, we walked away from this episode discussion the clever creativity present within To All the Boys I've Loved Before, our high school experience and what makes high-school romantic-comedies relatable despite their hyperbole, and most interestingly, our thoughts on dating as Christians. This led to what might be my favorite discussion on the podcast so far, as it heads into the importance of learning to express oneself romantically while remaining biblically appropriate, discussing the importance of building a foundation for relationships to encourage healthy decision making, and how these thoughts and opinions on dating are largely counter-culture to the modern American-Christian lifestyle that kissed dating goodbye. All in all, my worries were pointless, and this episode turned out some extremely interesting and thought-provoking content. Tune in weekly for new episodes of Cinematic Doctrine! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is Rated TV-14. It doesn’t have a detailed certificate, so here’s a Melvin certificate: mild sexual references and language. It features Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Anna Cathcart, Madeleine Arthur, Israel Broussard, John Corbett, Janel Parrish, and Emilija Baranac. Directed by Susan Johnson. Prem Singh and Michael Pugliese join host Elias on Featured Chapter #14 on the podcast. Prem and Michael wrote and starred in the upcoming feature film Tiger, which also stars Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke and Janel Parrish. The film is based on the true story of Pardeep Nagra, (played by Singh) a Canadian Sikh boxer who was banned from boxing by the association for his refusal to remove his facial hair (which went against his religious beliefs). Michael and Prem met in an acting class, and together co-wrote their first screenplay which ultimately became “Tiger.” One may wonder how two unknown Canadian actors raised $4 million for a feature and acquired the likes of Mickey Rourke. They actually found the gym he frequented and awaited their opportunity to pitch the film. Needless to say, Rourke was intrigued and signed on to play the role of Frank Donovan. Dubbed the next “Matt & Ben” by various outlets already it will certainly be interesting to see if that proves to be true come next Oscar season. www.thetigermovie.com https://www.facebook.com/tigermovie2018 Twitter @teampremsingh @tigermovie2018 @mjpugliese Instagram @tigerthemovie @teampremsingh @mjpugliese Email the show themccpodcast@gmail.com Twitter @themccpodcast Twitter @EliasG77 Instagram @themccpodcast Facebook www.facebook.com/themancavechroniclespodcast www.themancavechronicles.podbean.com
