In his third appearance on The Human Voice, media theorist and science fiction author Paul Levinson shares a fascinating conversation about the timeless relevance of media ecology, technology's role in human progress, and the myths surrounding information overload. Paul reflects on his seminal 1996 article On Behalf of Humanity and its argument that the issue isn't too much information but a lack of organizational tools.   Drawing connections between historical innovations and today's AI landscape, Paul explores the concept of “remedial media”—new technologies that solve problems created by previous ones—and how it applies to challenges like algorithmic bias and deep fakes. From his collaborations with media icons Neil Postman and Marshall McLuhan to his optimistic vision for technology as a force for good, Paul offers insights that resonate across decades.   The episode wraps up with Paul's thoughts on techno-pessimism, the power of storytelling, and a fun recommendation for mystery fans: A Perfect Couple. He also highlights his recent alternate history book, Real Life: An Alternate History of The Beatles, imagining a world where John Lennon was never assassinated.   Key Topics Covered: • Information overload vs. information organization • Remedial media as a framework for technological progress • AI, digital watermarks, and the future of human-machine collaboration • Why techno-pessimism often gains more attention • Recommendations for media and books   Tune in for a thought-provoking discussion that spans history, technology, and the enduring human connection to media.

In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, host Stewart Alsop is joined by Reya Manna, founder of the Song Keepers School, for an inspiring conversation that traverses spirituality, the power of the human voice, psychedelics, ancient creation myths, and the cultural significance of storytelling and singing. Reya shares her journey from being discouraged from pursuing a life centered around singing to discovering its deeper healing potential during South American plant medicine ceremonies. The discussion touches on the sacred role of sound in protection and healing, the pitfalls of artificial intelligence's detachment from soul and embodiment, and the importance of nurturing authentic self-expression amidst modern distractions like social media. This rich dialogue emphasizes the profound wisdom carried through connection to nature, the divine feminine, and practices of deep listening, which Reya also integrates into her Song Keepers School. If you're seeking to reconnect with your voice and align with ancient healing traditions, you can learn more about Reya's work and upcoming programs at www.reyamanna.com. The vibration of our own voice can ground us, heal emotional wounds, and serve as a tool for blessing and transformation when used with intentionality and love. This deeper understanding of the voice's role in healing can reframe how we view self-expression and creativity.Rediscovering Ancestral Wisdom and Connection to Nature: The conversation highlights how many of us have become disconnected from ancestral practices and the natural world. Reya explains how nature holds wisdom in its patterns and sounds, serving as a "library" of memory and guidance. Through offerings, prayers, and song, individuals can rekindle a relationship with the earth that restores a sense of belonging and purpose.Singing as a Transmission of Love and Sacred Intentions: In contrast to the commodification of music in modern society, Reya describes how the act of singing has traditionally been used by shamans and healers to convey love, protection, and blessings. By building a practice of singing from the heart, individuals can access their authentic voice and align with their higher purpose, amplifying their energy field and positively impacting others.Navigating the Modern Landscape of Technology and AI with Discernment: Stewart and Reya discuss the rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on creativity and self-awareness. They reflect on how AI can replicate but cannot embody the soulful essence of human expression. This prompts a reminder to foster resilience against digital distractions by grounding ourselves in embodied experiences and genuine human connection. The Interplay Between Spirituality, Desire, and Social Conditioning: The discussion delves into the Gnostic myths and the idea that true desires originate from the "high heart" and guide us toward our soul's blueprint. However, lower desires—amplified by social media and consumerism—can entrap us in illusions. Recognizing this distinction can help individuals reclaim their agency and align with their authentic spiritual path. The Divine Feminine and Sacred Balance in Creation: Reya brings attention to the erasure of the divine feminine in many spiritual narratives and emphasizes the importance of restoring balance by honoring both masculine and feminine energies. She shares stories of ancient priestesses and the sacred role of women as conduits of creation and wisdom, suggesting that reclaiming this knowledge is essential for collective healing and spiritual evolution.A Call to Collective Kindness and Creative Agency: The conversation ends with a reflection on the power of individual actions in creating ripples of collective change. Whether through a simple song, a kind gesture, or a moment of deep listening, every act of love and care contributes to a more harmonious world. Reya underscores the importance of remembering that we are creators of our reality, capable of shaping a future imbued with compassion, connection, and truth.

Hello to you listening in Svendborg, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga. After almost 5 years and over 1,250 podcast episodes on the airwaves what have I learned in another year's worth of podcasting? This much I know: I write to be heard. I believe in the music of the spoken word and the power of the human voice to connect.  For those of you around the world in our global community you know I've been living my life out loud. I've been working out the deeper parts of my life story in public to become the best voice of myself I can be. I believe I'm called to use my voice to inform, heal, delight, illuminate, provoke, and push back on injustice, and ignorance. Why? Because if I live on a superficial level I live shallow and out of reach of the gold coins in the deep well of my life.  My podcast episodes call me to write myself into being a better person; but I don't do it alone. I rely on you. I rely on faith, family, friends, and books. To me books are the bread of life. They help fill in the gaps of what I don't know or have yet to imagine.  Someone said that writers are beggars who tell other beggars where we found bread. My episodes are a means of breaking bread with you, sharing it in the hope that you will wave to me and say, “What! You, too! I thought I was the only one.” [C.S.Lewis]Question: What have you learned in another year's worth of the work you offer to the world? You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ For a no-obligation conversation about your communication challenges, get in touch with me today✓ Stay current with Diane as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack, LinkedIn and now Pandora RadioStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. The main idea behind this false teaching is the belief that one can engage with the worldly system and still maintain a pleasing relationship with God. Balaam thought he could maneuver around God’s direct commands to get the financial gain he wanted without penalty. This deceitful teaching is infiltrating the church, as indicated in Revelation 2:14, where it is described as happening in the Church of Pergamum. God hates the false teachings that would destroy relationships with His children, and that is exactly what the doctrine of Balaam results in. Zum Beispiel LOVE LIES BLEEDING, STING, THE EMPIRE, THE ROUNDUP - PUNISHMENT und ja auch IN WITH THE DEVIL. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With the rise of AI, will Hollywood begin to neuter your voice? While AI isn't creating anything original, the immediate convenience of this tool is already impacting our industry. Artificial intelligence is being applied to creative arts, so filmmakers need to understand how it can affect their careers.  In today's episode, No Film School's Jason Hellerman speaks with acquisition executive and script consultant, Evan Littman, to discuss: Why we should be concerned about text-to-video AI tools like Sora Why large studios have a better chance of going against generative AI models AI-generated screenplays and copyright laws Using AI to read and give feedback on scripts Examples of how unreliable AI can be Developing your voice as a screenwriter What newer writers need to understand about breaking into the industry Why 8/10 on a script isn't good enough  Memorable Quotes “This is something a lot of people thought was coming, but it arrived faster than we anticipated.” [2:49] “A.I. is not making anything. Hello to you listening in Englewood, Florida!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.  To this very day my clients from courtrooms to classrooms  can repeat my opening lines about presentations:“Put down the paper and nobody gets hurt.”and “To stand and deliver your work is a privilege - a gift from you to your audience.”The human voice is the most powerful instrument we have to heal, inspire, comfort, entertain, and more. It's the reason that Big Humans and Little Humans long to hear the same stories retold. I believe that our audiences are waiting to be gifted with our spoken words, not our notepad words.  When you write your words you are using your brain in a particular way to convey your message in words. But that all changes when you speak those same words out loud. Why? Because writer-brain and speaker-brain are different.Speaking your words out loud will show you right away when a turn of phrase fails, you lack a bridge from one thought to the next, when your story begins to unravel like an old sweater because it lacks integrity - it does not hang together from beginning to end.I have produced well over 1,000 episodes.  My 4-year practice  has enabled me to embed a lot of meaning in a short space while offering commentaries that are timeless and universal.I take a day to write my week's worth of 5 episodes. And then I speak them aloud before recording them. This is when I hear myself say something my writer-brain didn't catch.Practical Tip: Take the time to speak the words of your presentation out loud. Relish the sound of your human voice. Embrace the power of your spoken word. The more you speak your words out loud the more confident you become, more fearless, more influential. It's a gift from you to your audience. Hello to you listening in Gothenburg, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga. What have I learned in another year's worth of podcasting?  This much I know: I write for radio. I believe in the music of the spoken word and the power of the human voice to connect.  Over the years I've been working out the deeper parts of my life story in public to become the best voice of myself I can be. I use my voice to inform, sooth, delight, heal, illuminate, provoke, push back on injustice, and more. Why? Because if I live on a superficial level I live shallow and out of reach of the gold coins in the deep well of my life.  My podcast episodes call me to write myself into being a better person. But I don't do it alone. I rely on the plethora of books I read to fill in the gaps of what I don't know.  Books are the bread of life.Someone said that writers are beggars who tell other beggars where we found bread. When I find or create something that's meaningful to me I share it with you in the hope that someone will echo back, “What! You, too! I thought I was the only one.” [C.S.Lewis]Question: What have you learned in another year's worth of the work you offer to the world?Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. This movie is not for all tastes, but it IS for Drusilla and Josh. It's Singapore Sling: The Man Who Loved a Corpse by Nikolai Nikolaides. From wiki: “Singapore Sling: The Man Who Loved a Corpse (Greek: Singapore Sling: Ο Άνθρωπος που Αγάπησε ένα Πτώμα, tr. Singapore Sling: O Ánthropos pou Agápise éna Ptóma) is a 1990 Greek black and white horror underground art film directed by Nikos Nikolaidis and regarded as his magnum opus. Considered a difficult film to label while still managing to develop something of a cult following throughout the years nonetheless, it was shot in a bizarre manner somewhat resembling film noir or neo-noir and black comedy as well as the exploitation, thriller, and crime genres mixed with some elements of eroticism and horror with sex being used as a power game and received a theatrical release in Greece on 6 December 1990.[1][2] “Drusilla saw Almodóvar's double feature of shorts, Strange Way of Life and The Human Voice. Hello to you listening in Garfield, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Imagine that voicing your ideas is an act of creation. When we have the courage to use the power of our voice to speak our mind we have taken a bold and beautiful step toward making happen what we desire. Our best chance of being seen, heard, understood and listened to is by speaking with purpose, resolve, design. There is a galaxy of difference between spoken word and written word. One can read I Have a Dream speech and agree that an end to racism is a fine idea. Or, listen to Martin Luther King speaking his words, transmitting the emotion of his idea, creating empathy and energy. You will jump out of your socks at the audacity of what King believes is possible! Our voice is both the sound we make and the message we are delivering in our voice. Women especially fail to use the power of their voice to say what they mean and mean what they say. They hide behind the written word. But saying what we mean takes courage beyond writing words on the page.I'm coaching a professional client who is working on her Origin Story. She wrote and sketched her work on large pieces of blank paper. When we met on Zoom she held each piece of paper up to the camera walking me through her work - step by step - page by page - in her own voice - speaking what she had created. There was joy, pride, courage, freedom of expression, and commitment to being who she said she is - her Who!Speaking aloud does that; it shifts an idea on paper to becoming a reality when spoken aloud. Nothing matches the ability of a simple human voice to create an emotional connection.CTA: If you are ready or getting ready to be ready to work with me to become a better Story Influencer creating emotional connections with those you serve, I am ready to support you at Quarter Moon Story Arts.  You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. We rely on it to communicate and collaborate, woo our mates and protect our children, win wars and make podcasts. John would know. A vocal injury changed his relationship with his instrument and set him on a path to better understand what his voice means to him — and what the voice means to humanity.
