Der Zusammenbruch des Ostblock stieß einen Transformationsprozess an, der bei Weitem noch nicht abgeschlossen ist. Der russische Angriffskrieg auf die Ukraine ist u.a. Teil davon. Das Verhältnis zum Westen war in vielen Ländern des ehemaligen 'Blocks' nicht selten ein ambivalentes und konnte sogar in Rückgewandtem, ja Demokratiefeindlichem Ausdruck finden. Gerade Subkulturen und Avantgardebewegungen spiegeln diese Ambivalenz. In Jugoslawien waren die 80er Jahre geprägt von Freiheitsversprechen und (kreativem) Aufschwung, aber auch die Zeit aufkommenden Nationalismus. Von Widersprüchen geprägt, war es das letzte Jahrzehnt, in dem das Land eine Einheit war - und Jugoslawischer NewWave Ausdruck dessen: 'die letzte Jugend' - und kein Projekt eignet sich zur Illustration besser als die Belgrader Band IDOLI - war urban, individualistisch, rebellisch und geradezu obsessiv in ihrer Identifikation mit der Kulturszene westlicher Metropolen. Sie trat an gegen den sozialistischen Kollektivismus, flirtete dabei mit nationalistischer, rückgewandter Bildsprache, griff Avantgarde-Traditionen auf, auch solche, die ihrerseits mit Totalitarismus geliebäugelt hatten, war dabei aber ungemein vielschichtig, vieldeutig, verspielt und intelligent, ihr Album ein Meilenstein von TapeArt&CutUp. Kann Popmusik ein Warnsignal, ein Seismograph folgender Desillusionierung und gewalttätigen Zerfalls sein? Auch das multidisziplinäre Künstlerkollektiv NSRD aus Riga war stark von postmoderner Theorie beeinflusst, dazu von neuer Musik und Dada, später u.a. von Fluxus und Kybernetik mit einem ausgeprägten DiY-Ethos, der nicht nur den restriktiven Bedingungen in der Sozialistischen Sowietrepublik geschuldet war. Wenn gute lettische Tanzmusik rar war, machte man sie halt selbst. Alle Grauzonen, die Musik & Kunst betrafen, wurden von NSRD voller Begeisterung ausgelotet. "Wir identifizieren uns mit Grenzen. Wir orientieren uns an den Beziehungen zwischen Zentrum und Peripherie.“ heisst es im Manifest ihrer 'Approximate Art'. Bonus: #Eastbam.

Matthias Holtmann ist im Alter von 75 Jahren gestorben. Für mich war Matze ein Vorbild. Kurze Zeit habe ich auch mal unter ihm gearbeitet beim SDR. Den hat er in den 80iger-Jahren entstaubt und die Welle SDR 3 zum beliebtesten Popsender Deutschlands gemacht. Aufgewachsen in einem Elternhaus, in dem Kunst und Kultur eine große Rolle spielte, mit einem älteren Bruder. Matthias studierte Musik in Köln, war Schlagzeuger in der Band Triumvirat, die bis heute eine große Fangemeinde hat und landete schließlich 1979 beim damaligen SDR – dem Süddeutschen Rundfunk. Als Musikredakteur und Moderator – er prägte "SDR3 – Radio für den wilden Süden". Seiner Schlagfertigkeit etwas entgegenzusetzen – kaum möglich. Politisch korrekt – eher nicht. Beleidigend – auch nicht! Einfach nur unsagbar schlau und witzig! Wenn man seinen Humor mochte – siehe oben – Stichwort "polarisiert".Matze Holtmann hat viele Formate im Radio und auch im Fernsehen geprägt. Für mich ist und bleibt die Krönung „Pop & Poesie“. Aktuelle Hits, live gespielt von der SWR-Band und über Musikbett gesprochen vom Godfather des Pop-Radios selbst oder anderen genialen Stimmen. Noch bis ins Frühjahr 2025 war er – stark von seiner Parkinson-Erkrankung gezeichnet – noch live zu erleben. Jetzt schweigt der Tagesbegleiter, Ratgeber und Musik-Guru für immer. Die aktuellen Wirtschaftsnachrichten mit Michael Weyland  Thema heute:     DAB+ in den Audio-Trends: Zwei Millionen zusätzliche Haushalte hören Digitalradio / Wachstum schlägt Webradio    DAB+, das digitale Radio von heute, wirkt weiter als starker Treiber der Digitalisierung des Hörfunks. Wie den Ergebnissen der aktuellen Audio Trends der Medienanstalten zu entnehmen ist, steigt die Nutzung des digital-terrestrischen Radios weiter. In Deutschland hören insgesamt rund 66 Millionen Personen lineares Radio – unabhängig davon, ob über traditionelle Empfänger oder online. Von ihnen greifen drei Viertel auf digitale Angebote über DAB+ oder Internet zurück. Das entspricht 51 Millionen Menschen und damit mehr als drei Viertel aller Radiohörerinnen und -hörer. Gegenüber dem Vorjahr (2024: 49 Millionen) hat sich die Nutzung digitaler Empfangswege leicht erhöht. Die Netto-Digitalisierungsquote, also die Anzahl der Menschen, die Zugang zu digitalen Empfangswegen haben, liegt bei 77 Prozent. DAB+ wächst deutlich und liegt vor Webradio Rund 23 Millionen Personen nutzen innerhalb von vier Wochen DAB+. Dies entspricht einem weitesten Hörerkreis von 36 Prozent – ein Zuwachs von fünf Prozentpunkten gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Täglich hören gut 13 Millionen Personen Radio über DAB+. Die Verweildauer liegt mit einem leichten Zuwachs bei durchschnittlich 156 Minuten pro Tag. Im Vergleich mit weiteren digitalen Ausspielwegen nimmt DAB+ die Spitzenposition ein. Ausstattung der Haushalte Laut der Audio Trends verfügen inzwischen 40 Prozent der Haushalte über mindestens ein DAB+ Gerät (2024: 35 Prozent). In absoluten Zahlen entspricht das einer Steigerung von gut zwei Millionen Haushalten. Der Zuwachs lässt sich auch bei den DAB+ Autoradios feststellen: Jedes vierte Auto verfügt mittlerweile über DAB+ (2024: 21 Prozent). Ländervergleich: Spitzenreiter Bayern, viele Regionen mit Dynamik Auch auf Länderebene steigt der DAB+ Anteil in den Haushalten. DAB+ ist in allen Bundesländern die zweithäufigste Radio-Empfangsart nach UKW. Bei Ausstattung und Zugang bleibt Bayern föderaler Spitzenreiter. Dort beträgt der Anteil der Haushalte mit stationären DAB+ Radios 47 Prozent (2024: 43 Prozent); gefolgt von Sachsen-Anhalt mit 45 Prozent (2024: 38 Prozent) und Sachsen mit 43 Prozent (2024: 41 Prozent). In Schleswig-Holstein liegt der Anteil von Haushalten mit stationären DAB+ Radios bei 41 Prozent (2024: absolut 34 Prozent). Das entspricht einer relativen Steigerung von gut 20 Prozent.
