Modernization sits at the heart of Florida's procurement transformation. Jessie Marks, Florida's Chief Procurement Officer, shares her fascinating 18-year journey from part-time administrative assistant to CPO, revealing how the relationship-building and clear writing skills from journalism perfectly translated to crafting thoughtful procurements and saving taxpayer dollars. Marks details how her team leverages AI technology, cloud-based solutions, and automated reporting systems to increase efficiency while maintaining transparency. The cloud-based platform they've implemented provides real-time updates on active solicitations and contracts, eliminating the guesswork and bottlenecks that once plagued their process. Rather than making decisions in a vacuum, Florida's approach emphasizes data-driven strategies and stakeholder buy-in.Ready to transform your own procurement approach?

Kritische Fragen an Susanne Wille.

What's more terrifying than a violent haunting? A ghost that tries to comfort you. For one teenage girl, the paranormal wasn't something she sought out—it sought her. From the age of four, she was a beacon for the unexplained: a man in red walking calmly through her home, then returning in white, kneeling at the foot of her bed to pray. Later, a full family from the 1800s silently appeared at the edge of her mattress. But at fifteen, the haunting shifted into something far more disturbing. She began waking at night to feel a weight pressing down on her, a breath against her neck, and a hand gripping hers. Terrifying—but strangely calming. The spirit seemed intent on keeping her safe. It even manipulated her electronics, pausing her music mid-dream—then restarting it when she wished it back on. Radios tuned themselves to her favorite songs, cupboards opened, beds dipped with unseen footsteps. Her mother dismissed it, until she herself heard the static of a radio tuning in the dead of night. That's when she realized her daughter wasn't imagining things. The question that haunts them both now isn't if the ghost is real—it's what does it want? #TrueGhostStory #RealHaunting #HauntedHouse #ParanormalActivity #CreepyStory #GhostEncounters #SleepParalysis #SupernaturalStories #HauntedTeen #GhostThatComforts #RealParanormal #UnexplainedMysteries Love real ghost stories? It's the first episode of Strange Brew month! This week, we're heading to small-town Wisconsin for one of the creepiest, and most overlooked, paranormal stories in the Midwest: The Tallman House Haunting. In 1987, the Tallman family of Horicon brought home a used set of bunk beds that seemed to unleash something terrifying. Radios tuned themselves, voices whispered in the dark, and glowing red eyes peered out of the children's room. The events were so intense the family fled their home, and the story became the subject of an eerie Unsolved Mysteries segment. Was it truly a cursed object, a case of mass hysteria, or something else entirely? But before we climb into those haunted bunk beds, we'll lighten the mood with some fresh fall flavors: a rundown of upcoming Oktoberfest and seasonal beer release. From malty Märzens to Wisconsin classics making their return. Merch and links: Here

Take 5 guys with a desire to record an album for their grandchildren and you got got our album profile this week as they're singing (or sweatin) to the oldies, some polka music that may be unintentionally suggestive (don't go there!) and we are blessed with the Lord of all Radios this week in the Limburger Lounge.
Few haunted object cases have rattled the paranormal world like the story of the Tolman family and their cursed bunk bed in Wisconsin. After bringing home a secondhand bed in the late 1980s, their lives spiraled into months of relentless terror. Children fell mysteriously ill. Radios turned on and changed stations by themselves. A father heard a voice commanding him to “come here.” Their garage seemed to burst into flames that vanished as quickly as they appeared. And then came the fog, the witch-like apparitions, and the pounding footsteps that left the family fearing for their lives. The story became so infamous that it was featured on Unsolved Mysteries. Tony, Carol, and Todd rewatch the reenactment live, riffing on the Wisconsin accents, the absurdity of painting in the dark, and the Lutheran pastor who moonlighted as an exorcist. It's both terrifying and hilarious, a perfect finale for a night of paranormal chaos. Whether you believe in cursed objects or not, this is one story that will make you think twice before bringing home secondhand furniture. #HauntedBunkBed #TolmanFamily #GhostStories #ParanormalPodcast #UnsolvedMysteries #HauntedFurniture #HauntedHouse #RealGhostStories #ParanormalActivity #HauntedWisconsin Love real ghost stories?

Chris Vincent (a.k.a. DJLavalamp) joins the podcast to tell the story of how a punk kid with a busted guitar wound up building some of the most coveted point-to-point, vintage style guitar pedals on the planet. We get into the weird alchemy of germanium transistors (spoiler: they melt if you look at them sideways), scavenging tubes out of dead reel-to-reels, and why boutique pedals sometimes feel more like contraband than consumer goods. Chris also gets into on the pedal community's kindness, how running your own business is equal parts dream job and nervous breakdown, and why chasing tones is like chasing the world's best slice of pizza—you'll never stop, and that's the point. FRS radios aren't long-range or flashy, but they're still one of the most useful family tools you can own. In this episode of the Prep Comms Podcast, Caleb Nelson (K4CDN) dives into how families actually use FRS today, including: Keeping kids connected in the neighborhood Calling everyone home for dinner without shouting Car-to-car communication on road trips and caravans Staying in touch at theme parks, malls, and campgrounds Why short range and lack of privacy don't have to be deal-breakers FRS may not be perfect, but it works — and when it comes to family connection, that's what matters most. POCLink sent me these radios that I have been testing for the last couple of months, and so far they are working great! I think all forms of communications are good - each has their place. These will NOT replace your Ham or GMRS radio because they require an infrastructure to work, but if you understand how to use them, they can be a valuable tool. Let's take a look at my experimentations with these radios. Also POCLink is offering a 10% discount to my audience, if you are interested in these types of comms. Tonight on Veritas our special guest is Trey Hudson, director of the Anomalous Studies and Observation Group and guardian of a hidden clearing whispered about as “the South's Skinwalker Ranch.” Picture this: you push through a wall of pine needles, the moon erased, your breath loud in your ears. The forest suddenly drops away and you step into a meadow so silent it feels unplugged. No insects, no wind, only a charged hush. Without warning a cube of crimson light blinks on ten feet above the grass. There is no lamp, no shadow. You raise a thermal scope that should blaze white, yet the teammates standing beside you have vanished from the screen. Two endless minutes crawl by before they fade back in, insisting they never moved. That was the first night. Since then Trey's team of soldiers, medics, and physicists has logged hundreds of anomalies. Plasma spheres drifting like watchful lanterns. A midnight visitor in a tailored suit stepping from the trees to demand an escort down a one-way track. Radios that spit phrases in forgotten tongues. One teammate who, on thermal video, briefly transformed into a globe of light and then returned to flesh. To confront the unknown the group carries contact plaques modeled on NASA probes, practices Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind meditation, and trains in military remote viewing. More than once they have awakened with the words “Nox Magbee,” said to mean kin of the night goddess, echoing in their minds. Is this meadow a doorway, a mirror, or bait? Why does it echo the notorious ranch in Utah yet hide beneath the Mason–Dixon line? And what happens when human curiosity meets something that can rewrite time itself? Tonight we crack open the Meadow diaries, shadow Trey Hudson into the unknown, and ask if we are pushing the frontier, or trespassing on ground already claimed by something waiting in the dark.
When the factory floor powers down, you'd expect the night shift to be nothing but metal cooling and fluorescents humming—yet something unseen clocks in after hours. Radios blast then die at a touch, air tools hiss without air, and footsteps stalk whoever locks up last. Follow a veteran closer as he races the alarm timer down blackened aisles, chased by phantom music and breath on his neck, only to glimpse papers drifting from windows no wind can reach. Are these restless workers still punching their eternal timecards, or is the building itself alive and hungry for attention?
