The Biggest Tech Trends Of 2019, According To Top Experts --- Transcript: Below is a rush transcript of this segment, it might contain errors. Airing date: 01/23/2019 Tech Solutions For Border Security - Russia Using Bitcoin To Bypass US Sanctions - Renaming Alexa Craig Peterson 0:00 Hey everybody, I hope you've taken the time to look at that special report that I offered this week. Of course, it's it's free, right? Isn't that always the case and I have a little bit of an upsell for you, it's really cheap. And I just want to cover my costs on a webinar that we're going to hold about this on Friday. But you can freeze your credit and you can do it for absolutely nothing. And then I personally think it's way better than going to these credit monitoring companies that all they'll do is after the fact try and help you clean up a little bit of the mess right. So freeze it, make sure you get that that special report if you haven't already checked your email because you should have gotten an email from me. So this morning with our friends Ken and Matt we of course, had a few different discussions we talked about the border because they had been going on and on they were yelling. Ken yelling actually not mad, I had a guest that had called him a was crazy all about the border border security. And I had to kind of straighten out a couple of things here about what technology could do, what are the basic problems and even kind of tip my hat little bit as to which way I lean on that one. So we talked about that we talked about your Amazon Alexa and how to change its name, so that it isn't waking up all the time by someone saying the wrong wake up word. And there are three words you can use to wake it up. So I talked a little bit about that. And one more thing when we're talking about our security and and what you should be doing, I've got a special course that's going to be starting up here in just a few weeks. And it's not just a course because I know you don't all want to be security experts, right? You just want to solve your security problem, I get it. Finally, I think okay, so I, I have this whole thing we're going to back you up. I've got commitments from my technology people, my engineers that work for my company, my technicians all the way up to my third level tech support, I'm going to be offering a complete technology turnaround for you from you know, security standpoint, in just a couple of weeks. And I'm going to work with you, I'm going to explain how this all works. I'm going to show you how to secure your computers absolutely secure them. And we're also now going to be able to have tech support available for you as part of this all inclusive package. How's that for a big deal. So if you are a tech guy at a company, we're not going to move in on your space, we're going to help you with securing your business doesn't matter how big the businesses can be a Soho can be a multi million dollar public company, because we we deal with everything in between, frankly, including both of those edges. So I am so excited about this. I went through this yesterday with my team. And we explained what was going to happen and laid out all of the plans. And there's a lot of work for us involved. We've never offered this before. In fact, no one has ever offered this before. But it's a complete security technology turnaround, where we will hold your hand, we're not just going to sell you some software and run away. In fact, you don't even have to buy any software from us. This is all about educating you about the security problems, how to fix them yourselves. And you are backed by our engineers. Now thinking about thinking about our friends at Microsoft. If you ever called Microsoft for tech support, Unknown 3:54 right? Have you ever paid them the $300 they want I know I've even paid the the $300 they want for a single tech support call one call lasting no more than two hours. And when you think about all of the computers that you have, and you're trying to get those computers all fixed up and working. Don't you wish you had somebody to explain it all to you. Right there are you one of those people who's tried it and and stumbled and said, Forget about it. And you don't want to upgrade your computer because you just know something's going to break. And you just know yet can be able to fix it. And you just know you're not going to be able to open a dozen support tickets with Microsoft and four or $5,000 later you might be back on your feet, right? If that's the case, Unknown 4:47 do you think that would help you that this whole thing would help you because that's what we're going to be offering. So this is exciting. This is new, we've never done it before. So keep your eyes on because this is coming up in a couple of weeks. I am going to be sending out some emails on this in a couple of weeks. And you'll find out more. And I'm going to have a webinar kind of explaining what we're doing that I'm going to make an offer. And that's it. I'm only doing this this one time. And hopefully if it's right for you. You will sign up. So anyhow, here we go with Mr. Ken and Matt on WGAN and all of their affiliates in Maine Unknown 5:31 Ken got some food and a little happier now. Unknown 5:38 So I got a little... by the way do I might sound Unknown 5:43 Do you think Craig Peterson. Unknown 5:45 Craig Peterson, our tech guru. He has you know, you joke about me having 17 kids. He actually may have 17. I think probably older than me. Unknown 5:52 probably say let me guess you I'm going to say 50 now. 45. Unknown 6:01 You're like this to my youngest kid is 23. Oh my god. Our eldest is 35. Unknown 6:07 So you got to be me. And then you could have been 20, you know. Unknown 6:10 Well, that's my my wife turned 60 this year. Wow. Unknown 6:14 Alright, so that's Wow. Okay. Yeah. Unknown 6:18 39. Yeah, Unknown 6:20 well, Unknown 6:22 too. So Unknown 6:25 there you go. Hey, Ken. Yes. All of this discussion about the border? I thought maybe we might want to talk about a couple of little technology things that might Unknown 6:33 please do take my mind off this. I think that's a great idea. Unknown 6:36 lasers. Unknown 6:38 Me, what about late Unknown 6:40 Are you talking about lasers pointed at Tom Brady's face at football games? Because I'm a little concerned about that. Unknown 6:46 Exactly. Now, it's an interesting debate, frankly, because there are so many aspects of it. That's too bad that there's just so much focus strictly on the wall. I you know, you look at this, what's the wall for courses, physical barrier to prevent people from crossing. But as you guys have both talked about before, we've got a big problem with people overstating visas, we're trying to keep people out of the country illegally. We, you know, we talked a few weeks ago about these new biometric systems like the ones that will scan your eyes looking for a potential lies that that was I'm actually I don't think we spoke about it. That was in my, you know, my website. But here's some of the technologies they're looking at right now. If you fly out of Orlando, there's this new biometric system that does look at your eyes. But to identify you, as a unique person, we've got other biometric systems that are starting to be deployed. And the idea is that we can catch people very quickly, who are trying to enter illegally. So someone, for instance, decides that they're going to come in the country, they come here, they commit a crime of some sort, they are arrested. And if we do capture their biometric information, and then they leave to go home to visit family or whatever, and they come back at that point, now we can stop them, we can catch them, we can detect illicit behavior with different types of scanners, we can screen migrants, we can put more technology at our ports and, and more scanning more surveillance to see what's going on. It's like President Trump that suggested that. And what we're talking about here are, again, what Ken was mentioning this morning, we know that most of the drugs that are crossing the border are coming to our major ports of entry. Of course, we don't really know how much is coming elsewhere, because we don't monitor that closely. But we can do a much better job of even having dogs at the borders that are sniffing that are looking for some of these things. But then you run into problems like I have clients, a couple of them, I can think of off and that have parts of their equipment manufacturer to Mexico, and then they ship it up here, they do final assembly in the US and then they sell their products. Well, at that point, now you're causing problems for our economies, and for American businesses, American jobs, because you're stopping the some of the flow of this, or at least you're slowing it down impeding it, but you know, there are some things we can do with our existing ports that are going to improve things. Obviously, we can't track people, even the little bit of biometric things we've heard about before, where you stick a chip under the skin that's just playing not going to work because the only can be helpful if they're right there at a scanner. So forget those types of ideas. But it's very difficult problem. There is some technology that divine to try and solve some of this problem. But I also want us to be a little bit cautious here because both sides are pretty upset about what's happening right now. And I want to be conscious because we tend to need jerk many times and I don't want to have this backscatter radar problem like we've had at the airports where you've got backscatter x rays being used, and there's a lot of questions about how much harm they were doing, initially, how much time they still might be doing, and we put them in places a quick response to some of the terrorist actions that happen that are very rare and should we be should we be knee jerk? And I don't know I I don't think so. But there's a lot of discussion frankly, from my standpoint, it's frustrating that the democrats completely reject an empty and and Chuck Schumer. Nancy Pelosi rejected Trump's proposals before he even made the proposals. How do we have a national dialogue about this? And how do we come to a new set of laws and new technology, new regulations, new employees, when nobody seems to want to talk this want to yell? Unknown 11:08 Craig Peterson, our tech guru, just talk about the world of technology. And what's happening, talked a little bit about border wall stuff. Let's get into more general technology topics, though, if you will. I you know, there's a lot of things we look back at 2018 and sort of see the trends that we saw starting to develop and things that we saw in technology and whatnot, what as you look forward to 2019, do you see as the top trends that we're going to be talking about Unknown 11:34 all year? Yeah, this is kind of interesting. We've had a bunch of different trends over the years. And I said in the past, hey, this is that the year of the medical hack, for instance, right, where I think that our, our, our hospitals are going to be hacked, etc. And we've had years where it was, wow, this is the year of high def TV this year, I don't think we're going to have any big breakthroughs, you know, over iPhone was more than a decade ago now. And then the iPad came shortly afterwards. But I think this year is going to be kind of setting the pace for the future, and the groundwork for the future. And it's going to be really big, it's going to make change the world within the next two to three years, frankly, in some ways, you're not going to recognize the future five years from today, because of some technology that's rolling out this year. Now, we've mentioned before the 5G rollouts that are starting to happen, this is the new technology for our cell phone systems. And what this technology does is it provides incredibly fast service 10 times faster or more in some cases than what we have today for our cell phones, and also provides for many more millions, actually more than billion new devices to be attached to these networks. So what does that mean ultimately? Well, that means that our friends in the cable TV business are going to finally face some serious competition and our cable TV, if you will, you know, our TV is going to be in the future in most areas of the country. Of course, if you're in rural rural Maine, you're not going to see this right away. But it's in his faith major competition, because our cell phone carriers are going to be able to provide very inexpensive, very high speed internet that will be price competitive with what you have in your house, even right now. So so your cable may not even be used for internet anymore. And they'll be providing streaming video services, including local TV, that's all coming in about two to three years, Apple isn't even going to do a 5G phone this year. They said that won't happen until next year. But some of the other vendors are going to do it, they're going to kick their toes in. And 2019 is going to be known as the year of really kind of laying the groundwork for a much different future when it comes to data. And I want to add one more thing to this. And that is we are seeing serious push back now to large lack of privacy, misuse of data. And people are very upset. Government agencies are upset. As you know, the chairman pie of the FCC. FCC is very upset about this. And there is work of foot in Congress as well. So we're going to see more regulations. We're also going to see the industry itself try and pull up at socks. So expect to see a little bit of a an industry movement probably let her friends at Facebook, because they've got such a black guy this year. It's going to try and protect our privacy, which I think very important thing because we really haven't been doing anywhere near enough about it. Unknown 15:09 We're talking to Craig Peterson is our tech school joins us Tuesdays at 7:38. Unknown 15:14 before we let you go you know I did get Alexa for Christmas. And I Unknown 15:18 Alexa play who Unknown 15:20 I did Unknown 15:20 change it to computer though, because I thought it was much better. That's called a computer. Ah, Unknown 15:25 so what you can change? Yes. Unknown 15:27 Whoa, whoa, whoa. Unknown 15:29 Limited. A sorry, Craig. We're going to talk we're talking to our tech experts. Only a few seriously, you can Unknown 15:35 say Alexa changer, your Unknown 15:39 your name Unknown 15:40 yet. Unknown 15:42 or changing reading or? Unknown 15:43 Yeah, I'll Unknown 15:44 use a computer. I can do like a star trek thing. And I can be like, computer Unknown 15:47 computer. Yeah, but Unknown 15:51 that's happening today. I'm gonna go ahead and go home. Unknown 15:53 What else? It is on store for us from Amazon. Are they going to have this and every wall we have? Are they going to be having cameras? This Unknown 16:00 is this a minority report? Are we turning into Minority Report? That's my question. I'm talking about biometrics reading eyeballs. That's the first thing I thought about was Tom Cruise going into the gap. Unknown 16:10 Minority Report. Unknown 16:11 By the way, for those of you whose radio who's electrodes are now streaming live, which is what I do in the morning, when I wake up, you can change this culture wake up word. And the way to change it to computer is you're going to your Alexa app on your phone. You tap that little hamburger menu settings and scroll down to wake word. Unknown 16:31 Yeah. And then we have Unknown 16:32 that drop down menu. Unknown 16:35 Yeah. And then you can call it either Amazon Echo or computer, Unknown 16:40 right? All right. And that's all you have to do. We didn't get major Barrett's voice to do it back to you know, yes. Unknown 16:47 You know what I have? I have a skill that all I have to do is say le x a red alert and it sounds the virus from the original Star Trek series Unknown 17:03 Barrett some Unknown 17:06 point Unknown 17:08 because I don't think you can buy that one. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of cool. So yeah, there's 100 million dollar these things now in people's hands. These Alexa and they are continuing to grow. And they are being embedded now. And more and more devices. Apple this year at CES. That was their big thing, if you will, their announcement was Apple is now making Siri available in TVs and other third party devices. So we're going to see more and more integration. And it looks like Amazon might be winning this smart speaker were Unknown 17:42 indeed. All right, Craig. Craig Peterson, our tech guru joining us, you know, as it usually does on Wednesdays here can you say joins, we have about two minutes left Craig. So make this one a brief one, but Russia and bitcoins is this some way of getting around sanctions? Unknown 18:00 Interesting story and Bitcoin is Bitcoin apparently because of fraud and initial trading where they did some trading back and forth between a few guys in order to drive the price of bitcoin up. And that's there's there's some evidence to support that now. There is a rumor floating around that our friends over in Russia that are looking to get away around us sanctions and they're going to get around our sanctioned by using Bitcoin in sac what the, the, the whole rumor drives to is that Russia could purchase Bitcoin to replace the US dollar as a reserve currency and there's saying, Hey, how about we use Bitcoin or some other blockchain technology in order to sell oil for oil trading instead of the US dollar? So the big question is, is this real legit, or not? All the research I've done online seems to indicate that it is not legit, although, who knows? Maybe it was a bit of a trial balloon by the Kremlin. But if Russia work to do that, of course, it would drive the value of Bitcoin way up. Because this Russian economist there's only one guy that said this said that Russia was going to put 10 billion in Bitcoin, I would not call that an investment. By the way, this is not investment advice either, but I don't know what's going to happen. But it is an interesting idea with cryptocurrencies. Could other countries get around us sanctions by switching over to Bitcoin or other currencies? Unknown 19:43 Great question. We're gonna leave it there Craig is we're out of time appreciate you joining us as always, and we'll talk to you again next week. Unknown 19:48 Hey gentlemen, take care. Thanks Craig Unknown 19:50 all right we're gonna come back at the other end of this with our eyeballs Unknown 19:55 Hey and once again everybody thanks for listening thanks for downloading thanks for subscribing and we'll be back on Saturday with another one of my Saturday weekend radio shows right here and by the way I you know for a little while twice now I've done dailies here for the podcast if you like my podcasts please let me know and also if you think I should be doing dailies go back to dailies if you'd appreciate it if it's worth the effort because I really want to help out here but when I don't get the feedback it's it's hard to know right how helpful my being but let me know me at Craig Peterson calm. We hear people extolling the virtues of motivation all time. Some people make a lot of money writing books and speaking about motivation. However, motivation is not always the answer. Perhaps what is lacking in our family, workplace, or community is not motivation, but maturity. If you like the show, please check out our Official Morning Mindset Merchandise! Markel. *Professor Paul* Hello, welcome back to Morning Mindset podcast. Thank you once again for sharing this with other people for letting your friends and family members and co-workers know that there is such a thing as the morning mindset podcast, you know, there's at least one person in your life that could benefit from this. Recently, I was listening to a friend of mine who has his own podcast and he said something that struck a chord with me and I wrote it down and I wanted to make the comparison that he mentioned something about doing what's right for instance in the fitness world. - We are constantly as coaches and trainers in the fitness world are constantly trying to motivate. Our clients or our teams or whatever. If you are the coach of a team whether it's basketball or football or whatever coaches are constantly trying to motivate their players trying to you know, get them pumped up psyched up. But motivation doesn't last forever motivation is actually temporary. There's external motivation where someone stands in front of you and they give you that cheerleader speech, you know, they're like "Rah, rah, we're going to do it"  and all that and go and so they're trying to motivate you from the outside and then there's motivation that you get from the inside motivation when you psych yourself up, you're like, okay self. - We're going to do this. We're going to get it done hoo-ha, and one of the things that my friend talked about he said he said motivation isn't always the answer. To do what's right and what you need to do and his example was every day I get up in the morning and I brush my teeth and I brush my teeth before I go to bed and sometimes in the middle of the day depending he said I'm not motivated to brush my teeth. I don't look forward to it. - I don't wake up in the morning saying alright, I get to brush my teeth. Now. Wow, that's awesome. I can't wait till I get home so I can brush my teeth. We're not motivated about that. But what are we doing? Well, because you said well we do it because we were taught to we were taught basic oral hygiene by our parents or dentist or a combination of the both or whatever and so we don't do the teeth brushing routine because we're motivated we do it actually because we're mature. - Often we will hear trainers and mode and not moderate trainers and coaches and people you know, and we go to work. I bet you that several of you in my audience work somewhere where they have those motivational posters, right? They got the posters with the ocean setting or the mountain setting or the beach setting or whatever or maybe a fighter jet or something and they're up all over the place in your work. It's they're there to motivate you right, and we can motivate ourselves and others can motivate us, but it doesn't last that long. You say "Well when it comes to doing what's right, doing the correct thing-" Let's say super mundane tasks, right? Super mundane tasks. - It's Saturday morning and imagine that there's not snow on the ground imagine the springtime or summer. It's Saturday morning and you really really really really want to go out and enjoy your favorite recreational activity. Whatever. Happens to be tennis or golf or Trapper skeet shooting or hiking or biking or whatever you want to do that and you can't wait to do that. You're really excited and motivated to get on your bike or fill in the blank, right? You wake up Saturday. It's the sun's out. It's a nice temperature. It's not raining you really you're motivated to do what it is you want to do? But you also look in your yard and you realize that it rained, you know, Monday Tuesday Wednesday the yards finally dry. - The grass is tall and it really needs to be cut but you're motivated to do what it is you want to do what you like to do? You don't like mowing the lawn. It's not fun, but you do it. What makes you before you get on your bike or you go grab your motorcycle or your golf clubs or tennis? Whatever what makes you go out there in a garage fire up the freaking lawn mower and go. Mow. The lawn first. Is it motivation? Are you doing it? Because and you're an adult and that's the thing, you know, when you're an adult you do what you want to do. No one's going to come to your house and yell at you. - You know, your spouse might yell at you your spouse might say hey, when are you going to get that done? But no one's going to stand over you and make it happen. It happens or it doesn't base upon what's in between your ears. What's going on in between your ears? They're in your own mind. So if you're not mowing the lawn if you're not and I use it just as an example, but because of motivation why are you doing it? You're not going to make any extra money. No was going to give you an attaboy it just something that needs to be done. - Why do you do it you do it because it's the mature thing to do because a child wouldn't but an adult knows that they should? If we examine the world that we live in if we examine whether it's our workplace or our communities or our families, if we examine them and we find shortcomings, it may not know a lot of people make a lot of money writing books and doing videos and all that about motivation or now. How can I motivate you to make sales and all that stuff, right? - Maybe that the problem that we're encountering, whether it's with our families or our workplace or Community or what have you? It's not a lack of motivation. Maybe the problem is a lack of maturity. Who are you to tell me? Well, answer the question for yourself. Why do we do the things that need to be done? Even though they are mundane or boring or tedious or whatever. We take out the trash and we mow the lawn and we brush her teeth. We don't brush your teeth because we love doing it and we're motivated. - Maybe there are some people out there that like literally wake up in the morning and they're psyched to get in there and brush their teeth. I mean, that's what we do with our children, right? That's how you get you. How do you get little kids excited about brushing their teeth? They're not mature yet. So what do you have to do? Well, I know when I was young either you got superhero or cartoon hero or whatever toothbrushes, right? You got a Scooby-Doo toothbrush or a Batman toothbrush or Spider-Man toothbrush or whatever you take the toothbrush and you make it a, you know, exciting for the kid. - You get them their own special little toothbrush and Cup Kit and with the Batman thing and the Spider-Man thing and all that and basically, you're applying external motivation. You're trying to get them excited about it because they're not yet mature enough to understand that it's just something that they need to do. How often do we see that in our own world? People don't do what's supposed to be done. They don't accomplish the mission that needs to be accomplished and they expect others to provide them with motivational tools or tricks or what-have-you to get it done. - Maybe I'm just throwing this out there just saying it could be that the problem is not a lack of motivation at all. It could be that the problem is a lack of maturity. Lack of mental maturity on that person's part so examine that think about that as your day progresses, you want to live a positive and productive life. Sometimes you need to do it without a cheerleader. Sometimes you need to get it done without coaches without trainers without cheerleaders, and what makes you do what needs to be done even though it's not fun or exciting is maturity. Alright, help your children, help your teenagers to learn and develop that. I am your host Paul Markel, and I will talk to you again real soon. Today's episode is the continuation/part two from episode 32, where I talk about how when you are living in alignment with the cyclical nature of your menstrual cycle, with how you eat, exercise and socialize you are stepping into your greatness, ripping the benefits of living in accordance with the body's natural flow and embodying womanhood fully. This way of living allows you to move through your life in a gentler way, where you are not as harsh with yourself as so many of us are. And I think we all know what I mean by that, right? As women and mothers, we feel guilty all the time and about everything. We should ourselves all day long, we should have done that, said that, bought that, or didn't buy that, went there, stayed home, and this list just goes on and on and on... Today I am going to teach you how to live in alignment with your cyclical nature, how to capitalize on the different stages of each phase and how, as a result, you can be kinder and gentler to yourself throughout your days, weeks, months and years. By the way, I learned this system from Kate Northrup, so if you're interested in more of this you should definitely check her out. She talks about sustainable success in motherhood and how to have more by doing less. In part one I talked about how our menstrual cycle is our base point for everything, and how our food, exercise and the way we socialize should change during each phase of the cycle. So, if you didn't listen to it, please go back and listen, you can find this training over at my website, healthbeginswithmom.com/ep-32. Today I am going to talk about the last piece, which is how we should change and adapt, not only how we eat, exercise and socialize, but also how we work, study and just in general move through our days. This is super important to know and understand because we are human beings living on planet earth in a body that is connected to nature. Knowing this gives you the power to say yes (or no) to things at the right time because this is what right for you. This gives you the feeling that you have control over your life so that you are able to be proactive about the things that matter to you as opposed to being reactive to other people's schedules, your never-ending to-do list, your kids activities, spending time with the people you love, etc. You are the queen and you get to design your life in accordance with this system. When you master this, you will feel like you're ruling the world. So, there are four phases to anything you do or create, whether it is a project you are working on at work, organizing a birthday party for your child, or literally giving birth. We all move through these four phases, which are also known as the four cycles of success, and they are: Visibility - this phase has the energy of the full moon, summer, ovulation, peak fertility, rebirth, and receptivity. This is when things can be brought into manifestation. This is when you are allowing yourself to be seen, heard, present. If you think of yourself as a flower, then this is the time to blossom!  In the framework of a day, this would start at 7 am and go until 11 am, which is when the sun is already high in the sky and your day has officially started. Everyone is waking up, you're packing kids lunches, backpacks are all set, hair is being brushed and everyone is rushing out the door. It's a new day! In the framework of a week, this would be early to mid-week (Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday), which is when you are well into the week, into a project, into whatever you are working on that particular week. In terms of your monthly cycle, this would be the time of ovulation. This is when you are most fertile and your hormones are all geared towards accepting a sperm and create life. Whether if you are planning on getting pregnant or not, use this energy of the month to bring something you are working on to life. This is a great time to spread the word about what you're working on, to press send, to publish, to launch. This is a great time to start new things. This is also when you might feel most chatty and most magnetic, so it's a great time to socialize, go out on dates, play with the kids, go out with your girlfriends, do sales calls, sell. You'll notice that this is when people will tell you that you look really good, and this is because biologically you are super fertile which is needed in order to attract a mate. Capitalize on this energy! Since this is when you are most fertile, again whether if you are planning on getting pregnant or not, this is the time of the month to have sex. Make this day of the month special, luscious and magnetic. Have fun Since you have lots of energy during this time of the month, enjoy dancing, bouncing off the walls, singing, and wear something that makes you feel good. And please, note that there is a difference between wearing something that makes you look sexy and something that makes you feel sexy. So we spoke about this energy that happens daily at 6 am, weekly at about mid-week (Tuesday-Wednesday), Monthly (once a month on the day of your ovulation), and in a context of a year, this would be summertime. It would be the longest day of the year during the summer solstice, so stay outside as long as you can in order to honor the energy of visibility as much as you possible. Culmination - If visibility has the energy of starting new things, the energy of culmination is bringing things into completion. This is important, especially for those of us who like to start new things but never finish them. The energy of this time in a day, week, month and a year is all geared toward culminating something you've worked on during visibility. Just to give you an example, and since we're all moms here, let's say that during visibility you were researching about a swim school for your kids. You asked friends, you made phone calls, you've seen a few schools. Now it's time to take action, choose a school and make the payment. This is what I mean by culminating something, bringing it to an end, instead of leaving something hanging in the air forever. Incomplete tasks, projects, to-dos are huge energy leaks which you want to eliminate as much as possible from your life. This is why it is important to say 'NO' to most things, especially if they are not aligned with your life's vision and purpose (more on that in a later episode). In a day, the energy of visibility would start at 7 am and go until 12 pm, then at 12 pm, this is when the energy of culmination begins and ends at about 6 pm. This is when you are most productive at work, getting stuff done, and finishing up and getting ready to go home. This is when you feel like your energy for the day is almost gone, you are getting tired, craving coffee, or a mid-day sugary snack or a pick-me-up. In a week this would be the time of almost end of the week, starting at Thursday and ending on Friday night. In terms of your menstrual cycle, culmination would occur during the luteal phase, which biologically is designed to be longer than ovulation, which is a great signal and reminder from the universe that it takes much more time to complete something than start it. There are times for new beginnings but now is not for that. This is when you will have the extra energy you need to complete, finish and culminate things. Whether it is a friendship you are waning down, weaning your baby off of a pacifier or a boob or sleep training your baby, this is time to GSD. Which stand for getting s.h.i.t done! Track your menstrual cycle and use the energy of the luteal phase to complete projects. If you are not menstruating, align yourself with the lunar cycle, and use the energy of the waning moon to wrap things up. I love this quote by Kate Northrup: "When you honor the gifts of the phase of creation you’re in, you get a lot more done in a lot less time." Looking at a year, this would be the time of fall, when leafs are falling and the earth is getting ready to go inward for winter. Fertile Void - I love this expression because it embodies the polarity of two forces that seem to not have anything to do with one another. On the one hand, it is void, empty, as though nothing is happening, and on the other it is fertile. How can that be? Let's see what is going on here. The energy during this time of the day, week, month and year pertains to rest, pausing, replenishing, and taking a breath. This is one of the most important phases of creation as this is actually when it all starts. This is the time to re-evaluate, recentre and refocus. In terms of a day, this is the time when you are asleep when your body's energy is being replenished and your mind is quiet. This is why you keep hearing that sleep is so crucial as you cannot function without it. As mothers, so many of us are sleep deprived, and I believe that for a period of time, we sort of lose our sense of security and safety because of this loss of sleep, because we lose what is supposed to ground us for the whole day, week, month and year. In terms of the week, this would be on Saturday. We all know what the bible says about the 7th day of the week, which is the day of rest. You are not supposed to work, to do any "productive" activities. Only rest. Spend time with family, kids, play board games and just give yourself permission to slow down and lay fallow. It’s the same energy as the season of winter, the new moon, and the time of the month when we bleed (aka our menstrual cycle). I love this quote by Kate Northrup: "Deep, true creativity doesn’t emerge despite the deep pause; it emerges because of it." I think in order to thrive in our lives we need to learn how to pause, sit in silence, quite our minds. Stop the chatter and tune into what matters. This is where the feeling of grounding is coming from.   Emergence - this phase is the beginning of anything. The energy of the spring, where everything is just beginning to bloom, you see tiny buds coming out from the branches of the trees, you can smell renewal and newness in the air.  Looking at a day, emergence would be early in the morning, right before the sun is rising, when your body will be moving a lot as to signify that you've had enough to sleep, it's time to wake up. This is also the energy of Sunday, where the week starts anew and we get to start all over again. This is the time to plant seeds and get started. If you are like me this time in the cycle of creation would feel really good, since it is much easier to start something rather than finishing it. So in order to thrive in your life, it is important to embrace the energy of culmination and the fertile void in order to complete what you set your attention to without burning yourself out. Let's say you want to plan a way overdue date night with your husband. This would be the time you'd use google a lot, you'll research, have ideas, it will start flowing to you easily. In order to get the most out of this phase, make sure to put your ideas on paper, so you don't feel scattered and all over the place. Emergence has the same energy as the follicular phase of your period (which is the 5 days or so after you bleed). If you really want to thrive then it is super important to embrace whichever phase you're currently at, and move through the cycle with grace, self-compassion and being reasonable, kind and thoughtful towards yourself. You can't and should not, do everything at once and at one time. It takes time to create, birth and complete. It is time to let go of perfection and the desire to do everything. Life doesn't work this way, so I want you to be gentle with yourself and embrace good-enoughness into your life. That's it. These are the four phases of birthing or creating anything you desire in your life. You may be asking yourself where is it start? Which phase of creation is the start? The answer to that is there is no beginning and there is no end to a cycle. It constantly flows, moving through the phases until one day, it no longer exists. Which from the perspective of the human experience would mean death, or transitioning from this world into a new realm of being. You are literally a magnet for creating and manifesting things into your life. Master this and you will soar in your womanhood, mothering, and relationships. I hope this was super helpful and insightful for you, now I want to hear from you! Which phase are you at in your life, motherhood or marriage right now? A poll conducted this week by the Seton Hall Sports Poll has found that 84% of American support the NFL players’ right to protest,    with only 16% saying the players should be ordered to stand for the anthem or be dropped from the team if they refuse.   Of the 84% supporting the players’ right to protest, 49% felt they should find a different way to express their political opinions, and 35% felt that not standing for the anthem is an acceptable way to protest.  There was a wide racial gap in those saying it was an acceptable form of protest.  70% of African-American chose that option while only 28% of whites did.   The poll of 845 adults (on both landline and cellphone) was conducted across the US on Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday of this week.  It has a margin of error of 3.4%.    President Trump has called on NFL owners to fire any players who refuse to stand, and on this, he received 28% support overall.  6% of African-Americans supported the president on this; 32% of whites.  Commissioner Roger Goodell and several NFL owners called the president’s comments divisive, to which 50% overall agreed.  In that breakdown, 78% of African-Americans agreed with the commissioner and 47% of whites did. The respondents were asked to choose between those two positions.   Asked about Kaepernick’s lack of a contract by an NFL team, 47% felt it was because of his protests and 19% because he wasn’t good enough.  81% of African-Americans felt it was because of his protest with only 7% saying it was because he was not good enough, while among whites the ratio was 41% (protest) and 22% (ability).

Sarah: “Hi everybody, this is Sarah Potter, from She Can Trade. This is the SCT Podcast, and this is episode 32. Very excited to have you all here, the markets have been moving quite a bit lately, so we’ve had a number of really nice trades in the trading room at She Can Trade. So I have TJ here : TJ: “Hello!” Sarah: “And today’s topic, we’re going to talk about the differences, the advantages/disadvantages of weekly options versus monthly options. Now, you guys all know, (who’ve been following me and TJ in the trading room) that we do a lot of weekly options. We do that because they produce really great results. But we’re going to get into it in a little bit more detail today, why we do that, and what is [sic] the main differences between weeklies and monthlies. So, I think we should kind of start it all off with just kind of giving a bit of context about weekly options, and, for those of you who’ve been trading a while, weekly options is a relatively new feature for trade. I think it’s really only been around, what, three, four years? Since they really introduced weekly options. And really, it’s only been the last couple of years that it’s really gaining in popularity. What I've found is when I go and talk to different people, whether they’re from the COE, or I’m doing different talks, is a lot of professionals, a lot of them out there who will trade weekly options with their own money. I think that’s a really glaring great advantage right there, if you talk to a lot of professional people who are always making money from the market, and where they choose to put their money is in weekly options, to me is just a first advantage that’s’ very obvious as well. If they can make money, we can make money, we can all do well using weekly options. So, that’s something that I think is a pretty good advantage. And then, obviously, thinking about the fact that there’s [sic]lots of people trading it, so weekly options are quite liquid. That can sometimes be a good advantage for everybody when you’re trading; because you want to always have somebody to go back and forth with. So TJ, have you ever had that occasion where you’ve been trading in an option and the stock or the underlying might have moved in the direction you want, but the option doesn’t necessarily produce the financial results that you want?” Sarah: “Ok, well this has happened to me, which is why I was kind of bringing it up, so sometimes when you’re getting involved in trading options that don’t have the same volume, sometimes the stocks can look so enticing on a chart, it looks really good to trade. So, I’ll go and trade the option, but sometimes I get caught in being involved in something that I’ve made a little bit of money in, but had I done something like Apple, or Facebook, or something in a weekly option, then generally I would have made more money in that stock as opposed to something that doesn’t get traded back and forth. There’s nothing more frustrating about being involved in a chart, when you see, and you look at it, and it’s taking off, but that option strike that you traded isn’t trading as much as you want. So I kind of find that weekly options, because there are lots of people trading them, make it easier to get in and out of trades. TJ: Yeah, I think you’ve brought up a good point in that, with the popularity of weekly options, there is a ton of volume in the weeklies. You’ll almost see that in a lot of stocks, there’s as much volume in the weeklies as there is the traditional monthly expiration, in the third week of the month. Some stocks you do see a difference in open interests in volume in the monthlies, but, for a lot of the big stocks, the Amazons, the Googles, people are trading the weeklies and there is a ton of volume, there’s a ton of liquidity, you’re getting great fills in the weeklies, you’re getting all the advantages of a traditional option, but you’re able to trade those options four times a month. So, I think the discrepancy, the disparity between a weekly and a monthly expiration is that gap is narrowing, and really, we should be thinking of monthlies as just another expiration, as just another weekly expiration. Whether it’s the first week of the month or the third week of the month, that expiration for options is really all the same. Sometimes on the monthlies you’ll see a little bit of difference in terms of hitting or in terms of volatility on expiration day, just because it is traditionally the monthly expiration. You also get (on the monthlies) you’ll get contract rollover, you’ll get other types of options, not just equity options expiring as well on some of those dates. So, sometimes there is a little bit of difference but I would argue that right now, the gap between the weeklies and the monthlies is really closing and we just need to realize that yeah, you know what, we’re trading an option. Also, you know, I don’t have the stats with me, but most of the stocks on the S&P 500 right now have weekly options as well, and even now I mean if you look, we’ve started to (on the options on futures, on the cash settle indexes like the SPX) we’re now having three expiration dates per week. There’s sometimes with the SPX a Monday and a Wednesday expiration as well, so, the Exchanges have really looked to add product, and to give people really a lot of, you know, advantages of variety. What do you think the advantages of trading the weeklies are? Trading a short term? I mean, I think one of the biggest advantages for me is just how much the market is moving. I’m able to pick a smaller market trend and and trade that micro-trend that week and not have to, you know, sit through a weekend, or two weekends until the option expires.” Sarah: “Yeah, I mean, the market likes to move, right? I’ll make money because everything goes up and down. So I think when you have more choices of when something expires, you’re able to tailor your trade a little bit more, like almost refine it more, because you can make more money in that, by getting in and out of those trades more often and looking for opportunities to really pop. Of course it depends on the strategy you’re using but rather than sitting in something, like let’s say doing a credit spread on a monthly option, which really doesn’t have the premium decay acceleration that we’re looking for, that you can really take advantage of in a weekly option, it just, to me, seems like you have far less risk. You just analyze and create the reasons for why you want to enter something like the credit spread in the first place, and then you get to place your trade and have an accelerated amount of premium decay in the weekly, as opposed to the monthly where, sure you might say ‘oh yeah, you can get more credit’, but you’re just sitting in it, like you’re just sitting there, a week, or two, and nothing’s really happening. I also think there’s a little bit more ‘give’ in a weekly option versus the monthly. So, with monthlies, let’s just talk credit spreads first : With monthlies, the credit spread has to, um, I think you have to be better at the direction, almost. You have to be pretty sure that, if you think a stock is going down, and you’re selling the call credit spread, you really need that stock to go down, because that’s where you’re going to see the premium come out and where you’re going to make some money off that trade. Versus, in the weekly option, because you already have an accelerated amount of premium decay, you can kind of be a little wrong. The stock can just stay still, and you can still make money in a short amount of time, which I think is so key. You don’t really have that advantage with monthlies. What are some advantages, you think? Let’s talk specifically in terms of strategies like credit spreads or premium time trades.” TJ: “Yeah, as we mentioned before I think the advantage to the weeklies is just – I can get in a trade Wednesday or Thursday that expires Friday, and I can get in that trade and I can pick up, say, 30 cents a contract on a credit spread. If I go out a month, I may be able to get 50 or 60 cents, so it almost, to me, makes more sense to be in the trade a day or two, or three days, rather than three or four weeks, and do that same trade week in and week out, and even generate a little bit more in terms of, you know, if the strategy is working out and more credit – 30 cents a week times 3 or 4 weeks versus trying to get 50 or 60 cents out on the next monthly expiration. I think the advantage is that over those three weeks or four weeks that you’re trading, the market isn’t necessarily doing the same thing every week and you can tailor your trades. If I’m trading Wednesday and Friday there’s less of a chance of the market having a big move or abruptly changing direction than if I’m trading this week for three weeks out. I think we’ve seen it in the S&P, I mean everything looks great, we’re above the 21, we’re above the 8, we’re pushing higher Monday Tuesday Wednesday. Thursday we drop and Friday we drop and it’s completely changed how the market looks that week and by trading a shorter term I think we’re able to stay on the right side of the trend more often than not.” Sarah: “Yeah, and that’s a good point too: the market has been moving around quite a bit, and you don’t want to be stuck in trades in the wrong direction. There’s not much you can do with those other than lose money. Whereas, if you’re getting in and out and actually cashing out of your trades, profiting on them and putting that money in your pocket, and then the following week you look to do it again, you can work with whatever direction the market’s moving in that week, as opposed to trying to hope that over the next few weeks or the next few months it continues to move in that direction. I think there’s far less times when you’ll open your account and you’ve seen that the trade has actually swung down into a losing position, because you’re not holding the trades as long, you don’t need to. You really get to capitalize on the moves. Now, I mean, that’s being said too: Do weekly options work when a stock underlying is moving quite a bit? So, you’re going to have, obviously more premium something as the implied volatility is higher, so things are moving around. Would there be an argument for buying calls and puts in monthlies, then, giving it a bit more time, versus the weeklies?” TJ: “Yeah, I think there is, I think yeah absolutely. So for long puts and calls, yeah, I think you do need to give the stock time to move so I absolutely will buy it, typically buying it three to four trading weeks out, but I’m not going to be looking solely, saying, ‘okay well I can only buy an expiration of the third week of the month, the traditional monthly.’ No, I’ll be buying it, you know, maybe 3 or 4 weeks out, but the expiration will still be in a weekly option a lot of the time. I’m not focused solely on that third week of the month expiration. I’m just going to go out 3 or 4 weeks no matter where that falls. But yeah, I think definitely you do need to give trades a little bit of room when you’re trying to buy a call or a put.” Sarah: “Yeah, I mean you do need some time, but you can still pick your weeks. And, I think the more choice you have, the better. And don’t get overwhelmed by choice, I think a lot of traders, because you do have, in options there are so many different things you can choose, make that a way to really focus on your own strategy, to make it really your own, and test the different ideas so that you’re really maximizing what you’re getting out of the market. There’s no sense in being in one stock when you can make more money in another. I would say that with weekly options, whether you want to trade it within that week or you want to go out a couple of weeks and still use the weekly option as your choice for expiry, there’s way more opportunities to tailor trades based on how you like to personalize things, how you like carry a risk, what rewards you like to work with. Regardless of whether the implied volatility is up or down, regardless of whether the market is moving or not, all of those advantages are still very relevant in weekly options. So, why not get into those and cash out of your trades more often? To me, it just makes way more sense. There’s far less risk than sitting in something and letting it go day after day, after day in the wrong direction when the market’s moving all over the place. So, I think this was a good talk and honestly, I actually believe that moving forward, we’re really not going to see new trading instruments come on, with only monthlies – I just think that weeklies is just the future. Or, it is the way that people trade now and it’s important to be able to adapt to those strategies in a modern market that we’re seeing today, because of all the advantages that we’ve outlined. So I did want to make sure that I’m mentioning in this podcast that reviews are really important and I would really appreciate if you guys enjoy the podcast, then post a review up on iTunes or any place that you like to post reviews about not only our podcast, but of course our trading room for many of you who are also members. Feedback is really important and an honest review is very helpful for everybody so I would appreciate that, if you guys could do that. Do you have any last minute words?” TJ: “No, I think we’ve covered it! I think weeklies… the one thing that I’ll leave with is that I don’t think we should be thinking of them as weeklies and monthlies – they’re just options. Pick the expiration date that you want to trade!” Sarah: “Good point. Alright everybody, have a great week in the market. We look forward to talking with you again. Take care!

I like fish and chips to write - escribir - Please write your name, Can you write your address? Please write your passport number. to use - utilizar - Pepito uses Facebook I use Twitter - Do you use Twitter? Follow us on Twitter - Siguenos en Twitter to go - ir - Dave goes swimming after work. to study - estudiar - My girlfriend studies business to wear - llevar - My dad wears socks and sandals - in the summer! to drive - conducir - Gary drives a blue car. Very good! - ¡Muy bien! Ahora escucha y repite los grupos de vocabulario. Monday Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday Friday Saturday May, June, July, August, September Summer, autumn (UK) Fall (US), winter, spring England-English, Spain-Spanish, Germany-German, France-French, Italy-Italian. go-went-gone, speak-spoke, spoken, fly-flew-flown, see-saw. seen, have-had, had, drive-drove-driven. Fantastic! In the intermediate section this month there is a grammar point that may be a bit difficult for some listeners, so I'll repeat it here. It's the causative have and we use it when someone does something for us and we don't so it ourselves. For example. most people do not cut their hair themselves. Do you cut your hair by yourself? In the bathroom in front of the mirror? Well maybe, but probably not. You probably go to a hairdresser (una peluquería), don't you? So, you don't cut your hair. You personally don't cut your hair, you have your hair cut. You have your hair cut by a hairdresser. Many years ago when I was young, and poor, I painted my flat myself, I actually worked as a painter for a few months. So I know how to paint and so I painted my flat. Now I'm older, I have a little more money and I pay someone to paint my flat. I have my flat painted. I had may flat painted about 6 months ago, actually. I can say I have my flat painted or I get my flat painted. I had my flat painted or I got my flat painted. Tiene la misma significado pero el get es un poco más informal. Entonces el causative es el verbo have (or get) + el objecto + el participio pasado - I had (el verbo have) my flat (el objeto) painted (el participio) Repeat: I have my flat painted - You should get your teeth checked - I must have my back examined - We had air-conditioning installed - Where did you get your hair cut? - I'm having my car serviced (a car service is una revisión del coche) Repeat: - I'm having my car serviced - Where does he have his suits made? - You should get this carpet cleaned - I'm getting my eyes checked - Why don't you have this TV fixed? - I got my ears pierced - I want to get my nose pierced. Ok, moving on to cinema vocabulary. Now, I'll say some words in Spanish, in my bad pronunciation, that are connected to the cinema, and I want you to say the English translation before I do. Then, repeat the word to practise pronunciation. Ready? banda sonora - soundtrack papel - role guión - script ensayo - rehearsal - the verb is to rehearse - ensayar - to rehearse for a play, concert or film público, espectadores - audience  (remember it's audience for the cinema, for music concerts, plays etc and spectators for football matches and other sports events.) critica - review (remember, critic is a false friend, un amigo falso - critic is the person and review is the thing the critic writes or says about the film, book or play.) reparto - cast Ok, let’s see if you can remember the idioms from this month’s cuaderno selection. I’ll say an idiom in Spanish and you say the equivalent idiom in English before I do. Then you should repeat the idiom in English to practice pronunciation. I'll give you a clue (una pista) by saying a word that's in the idiom. Ok, ready? Oh, and before I start I apologise in advance for my bad Spanish pronunciation. Cuando hay hambre, no hay mal pan / pan duro. - PORT - Any port in a storm. A todos les llega su momento de gloria. - DOG - Every dog has its day. Sobre gustos, no hay nada escrito. - STROKES - Different strokes for different folks. Los genios pensamos igual. - GREAT - Great minds think alike. El necio es atrevido y el sabio comedido - FOOLS - Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Quien paga elige. - PIPER - He who pays the piper calls the tune. Also in the advanced section we looked at some every day expressions that you may know the meaning of but may not necessarily use in your normal day to day English. I hope you'll choose on or two and start using them now when you speak. So, the first one was Each and every one of you. You can also say every last one or every single one. It means, of course, every individual in a group, for example; Each and every student must register by tomorrow, or I've sent every last one of my Christmas cards, or Every single one of his answers was wrong. All of these phrases are generally used for emphasis. One by one means one at a time, uno por uno - I searched through the cupboards one by one but I couldn't find the cup you bought me. Second to none - the best - lo máximo, insuperable - Our podcasts are second to none. Actually, our podcasts are second to many other, better podcasts, but I like the example! Perhaps our enthusiasm and motivation is second to none. What we lack in quality, we make up for in enthusiasm (to make up for means compensar) We've got an awful lot to do, an awful lot is a great amount or a great number - muchísimas cosas tenemos que hacer - We've got an awful lot to do. There are an awful lot of people in the queue. Precious little is the opposite - I've got precious little time - not much time, hardly any time - escasísimo - You've got precious little to worry about. Either way means de cualquier manera - You can fly or go by train. Either way the trip is going to be expensive. Make the most of means to take advantage of. I think in Spanish it's something like sacar partido de algo or sacar lo más posible. You only get one chance so make the most of it. These podcasts are free, so make the most of them. A good few means several. For example, at the conference, I was surprised to meet a good few people who had heard of our company. All too often means something like demasiado seguido. For example, drug addicts, all too often, steal from their families to get money for drugs. All too often. Ahora un anuncio, así que puedes hacer fast forward si no quieres escuchar. I hope you liked the video exercise about applying for a job and I hope it was useful. Oh, and thanks to LinguaTV.com for allowing us to link to the video. I think there were some useful expressions in the video. Listen and repeat some of them with me now. Fíjate en la entonación de las preguntas y intenta copiarla: Is it a full time or a part time position? What would my responsibilities be? Can I make an appointment for an interview? What is your educational background? What work experience do you have? Could you please tell me what the job would entail? Could you please email me your résumé? Could you please email me your references? Could you give me your email address please? Could you please spell your last name for me? Good, Ok. Now, résumé in Spanish is currículum. I think it's from the French word. It sounds French to me résumé. In British English we say CV, which stands for the Latin currículum vitae, CV in the UK, résumé in the US. Can you send me your CV? Could you please email me your CV? Ok, now repeat these other useful phrases and questions from the video: May I please speak with Miss Thomson? Ok, put her through please. Jane Thomson speaking. How can I help you? - How can I help you? I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name. Would you mind if I first ask you some questions? Can you repeat your name please? I'm pretty good at organising things. I'm fluent in Spanish and Italian. That sounds like an exciting challenge to me. I'll send you my CV within the hour. Thank you very much for your time.
