Donald Trump slowly shrinks and transforms into a corn cob. Ben's mother humiliates him in front of the host of Nickelodeon's Slime Time Live. David crushes his own mother's dreams of being a showbiz mom. Mary roasts her dad's exceptionally dadly qualities. And on Avatar, some kid has to cope with the fact that his dad is in bed with the fantasy reich. That's right, it's an episode all about the trials and tribulations of family relationships. (And moreover, Donald Trump losing.) === First, deep apologies for how late this episode is coming out. I (Mary) was moving this past week, and between packing and everything else time and energy to edit was tough to find. But I'm all moved now and ready to handle anything! Second, there will be no new episode this coming Tuesday/Wednesday. This is because, at this same time, Ben is ALSO moving! And his move is cross-country, so he'll be out of commission for a bit. We'll be back on the 24th/25th with more Avatar Recyclin' glory! Segment 1: I detail why I was suspended from Twitter on Wednesday in the middle of one of the biggest bank stories of the year, The controversial comments by CEO of Wells Fargo Scharf. I discuss the fear of me losing all of my data/conversations, how I found out both Wells and BofA reported posts on Tuesday/Wednesday for messages they claimed "Incited Bullying" (Posted contact info of execs at both companies), and the subsequent reinstatement/apology I got from Twitter for suspending me "In Error". I won't forget this, big banks! Segment 2: In the heart of election season, I reminisce about a former client of mine. One of my favs. "Mr. Ben" was a 90+ yo man who lived on a fixed SSI payment of $450 a month, yet he went through a box of checks a month. Why? Because he would donate to his favorite political candidates $3 checks at a time. He would continuously write checks, until 2012, when a fraud incident required BofA to freeze his account. Not wanting to close it because of a fee waiver that gave him free checks, he decided not to pursue the claim. BofA did, and blocked his account temporarily. When I got it fixed, everything that was great about his account was not there, and a man taken advantage of by promises by politicians was now getting scammed of 100s by BofA. Segment 3: I pick apart CEO of Wells Fargo Charles Scharf's longer, more lame apology where he points out the 4 POC he did hire, discusses initiatives to have more conversations (e.g. Do Nothing some more), and hold execs accountable for not hitting diversity goals. Yawn. Segment 4: I wrap up by reading a webpage from Bank of America clearly alluding to me and my project on Twitter. HAHA I tell people not to trust Bank of America, and they are lumping me in as a "scammer" they tell clients how to avoid people like me. I discuss why they are idiots and the short and long term goals for TNB as I am set to debut my book/go public! Stay tuned for fun! MY PATREON Page! On this episode of business today, Pam and Kristen talk about why interim management is every CEOs secret weapon. Full Transcript below: SEAKER: Kristen And as you scale a company you really can’t do it without people and talent which is why everyone is such in a rush to get the right talent in the right places with large scale companies to grow them. We’ve got everyone in place including our leadership team and then John walks in the door on Friday morning, my number two, my right hand and says. SPEAKER: Pamela I’m leaving. Everyone has experience that at one time or another. SPEAKER: Kristen My heart sinks if it’s not going into heart attack mode. SPEAKER: Pamela It happens. SPEAKER: Kristen And this happens everything from John decides he’s leaving as of Monday, he may offer me two weeks’ notice. I have two weeks to get someone else in place. I cannot go without my right. Without a right hand what do I do? SPEAKER: Pamela You know it’s interesting. We all need to not be blindsided by this because think about the talent market right now. It is so tight. Talent is in such demand that no matter how well you know your employees. Somebody can come in and steal one right out from under you. So yes you want to take very good care of your employees that they don’t do that but sometimes money talks and they’re going to leave no matter what you’re doing for them. So you have to be ready, you have to have a solution that you can quickly implement to be able to fill that position, should something like that happen. SPEAKER: Kristen Personally I think that every CEO and their succession plan, it should be kind of like a trust or a will if anything happens call my attorney. They’ve got everything, you ever see on needs to have in case of anything. You’re Cerius. Call their number. I’ve talked to Cerius. I know exactly what they know my company. They know my leadership team, they know everything I need. Call them in case of emergency and fortunately that doesn’t happen. We get the phone call at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon that says my CFO or my CEO just gave notice, they gave me two weeks’ notice. How quick can you get someone in your training, we’ve had them in there by Tuesday Wednesday. We can absolutely interim management can be used for those cases but there’s a number of other scenarios. SPEAKER: Pamela Absolutely. Absolutely. So another one is you want to promote someone, they’ve been really good in their job but there’s no one to succeed them. They have no one they can step up to take the roles of a sudden, you leave them in that position. That’s true. That can happen and what can happen from that scenario is that person will leave because they’re not getting promoted so you don’t want that to happen. So you have to make sure you have some kind of succession plan in place to be able to move people around or you have a scenario where that person really needs to go back, like they really meant to go they were meant to go a year ago but you didn’t do a thing about it. Well you need to do something about those people because all they’re doing is hurting the growth of your company. SPEAKER: Kristen And that’s a tough one because we all have their sacred cows or otherwise. We all have someone, we look at our leadership team, you know either the company and most the time we here. My company has outgrown them. And that’s a really tough move because there’s two decision points there. One, how do I replace them with someone who is the right person and what I do with this individual? Sometimes you can upscale them. We’ve done shadow programs where we’ve brought in let’s say an interim CEO to work with the operations manager or director of operations coach then gave them the till the toolkits worked with them for six to 12 months and they were actually able to step into that role and be saved. Actually I love that story as I manufacturer about 15 million and that individual is still on board and that CEO comes in every year as their strategic planning works with the team. In other cases they’re not the right person, they’re in over their head and they can help you work through how to face them out, place them somewhere else but really it’s how to replace them? how to get that right person and profiling that right person? they carry it on and interims can be used from shadowing helping through transition situations like this. They can come in and assume the role on an interim or fractional basis and they really don’t need much onboarding, the typical onboarding. It’s not weeks, it’s not days. SPEAKER: Pamela literally. Yeah it’s not quite ours but literally we have gotten an engagement on Monday. They’ve called in the clients wanting. In fact this particular case it was the CFO was for public company by the way. And in five days we had all the contracts signed. The interim had been selected and on Monday they started. I mean it’s easy, it’s quick and the thing is it’s a very experienced person that can hit the ground running. You don’t have to wait to train them and they typically are like chameleons that where they go into a situation and they automatically fit into your culture, your leadership team. So they work well with it so you barely know that there’s somebody new that’s working with your team. I mean it’s really does work well. SPEAKER: Kristen We’ve had situations where we’ve had an interim step in and a CEO brought us in an interim stepped in and it was an interim CEO that had hired us, brought the interim CFO in and after a couple of weeks the interim CFO was talking with some of the team and the team didn’t realize that it was an interim CEO or interim CFO. They had no idea since everything was so smoothly and they were integrated quite a bit with the team. So we’ve talked about interim management can be used from sudden departures to like someone to depart the company and that’s it’s a tough thing to do. Sometimes you really do need someone there to help you kind of help you through it and make sure because there’s a lot of fear in that. Absolutely fear is probably one of a number of things that keeps us from making tough decisions that we need to make as business owners. You mentioned you want to promote someone and maybe they don’t have all the skills or there’s no one to replace them interim is great with that. Pamela I know you’ve talked a lot about project work. SPEAKER: Pamela Yeah, there’s a lot of times when you’re missing a particular expertise and I’ll never forget this one of the corporate companies I used to work with that I was in sales and marketing and my boss came to me one day and say’s I think we want to I think we want to go into the international market. What did you get us there? And I’m like What? I had never done any international business before. So again instead of taking me, this is the advice I would have given my boss I didn’t give it to him back then because I was excited I got to do something new but I will tell you I probably hurt the growth of the company because I didn’t do it as quickly as somebody who’s had that experience. So I see companies today where they’re missing, they’re doing acquisitions for the first time and they don’t really have that person that knows how to do it, knows what to look for, knows the due diligence, knows even how to integrate the two companies once the acquisition is finished and you get somebody with that experience because so smoothly as opposed to using your existing team to try to do something that they’re just not used to. Could they step up? Sure. Well they make mistakes? yes lots of them. Will they be the best you know doing the job? No. So why risk that and risk the time get an interim where they can very quickly get up to speed and get it done for you. SPEAKER: Kristen I know that story a couple of times now and I’ve never asked why did your boss choose you? You had the most international, not experience but the most time your passport Hey you travel internationally you should know the international market? Why do he pick you? SPEAKER: Pamela I have no idea. I had a good relationship with my boss. I was producing, I did well in the company and I think he just, like we all do. Somebody doing something really well in the company there, they’ve been promoted a couple times, they look good and they’re like if anyone can do it, it’s Pamela or whoever your person is in your company and we just assume they’re going to be able to take it run with it. Again, sure. That’s exactly what I did but we lost time, we probably would have grown faster I mean there’s all sorts of things that they could have done besides put me in that position. SPEAKER: Kristen And looking at interim management or fractional and with what we do it’s how quickly we can assess the situation, work with the CEO to figure out what they really need? how quickly they need it and the results? Where do you want to be three and six months from now? Set this job description aside, we appreciate that a whole lot of time and age are spent on that and they pulled it out and they freshened it up but it’s not about failing a sea, it’s about that catalyst to help that company scale. So as we’re looking at different leadership gaps that we may have as we’re looking to Skyler company whether it is a sudden departure, someone who you’d like to depart the company, what you’re promoting too quickly, you want to promote someone, you don’t have anyone to backfill, you need that help with succession planning, there’s any number of areas that really makes interim management that CEO secret weapon to come in. What do you want to call paratroopers, parachute hers in any number of ways an interim can step into an organization assimilate quickly and be that secret weapon to help you scale. SPEAKER: Pamela And the main reason really is to get you results quicker without the risk of making mistakes because you really want person to step in, takeover, get whatever it’s done, whatever it is, whether it’s a project, whether it’s filling a role on a more permanent basis, whatever the reason is that you’re bringing in in the interim you know the cool thing about it is you’re going to get results. You’re going to get goals met the end of the day because again they come in very quickly and they hit the ground. SPEAKER: Kristen I love that, no wrong hires. An interim [not understandable] you’re not hiring them, we’re knocking the wrong person and hey if it works out and they’re great. There’s always the opportunity to comfort them and get them on board in the company but it really helps mitigate the risk of all of those wrong hires. Most of it because we didn’t know exactly what we needed to begin with and so we got the wrong person, we’ll say that for a future episode one of our favorite topics. Thank you for joining us today. Today, globalization, together with advances in communication and transport, has significantly increased the number of people with the desire and ability to move to other places. This new era has created challenges and opportunities for societies around the world. It has also served to underline the clear link between migration and development, as well as the opportunities it offers for co-development, that is, the joint improvement of economic and social conditions at both origin and destination. I typically use Google Maps. Now you may ask how can you use Google Maps without connectivity? You simply have to download the Aruba section from the map prior to losing connectivity. Once you do that, you have basic lead directions for a period of 30 or 90 days before you have to re-download the map. I use it all the time and it has never failed me. If you want to be a co-host of this show or simply want to relay feedback, please do send me an email at curt@onehappypodcast.com, message me on Facebook, drop a voice message on our hotline number (302) 635-0815.

Also, Aruba Ray Ellin had his show on Comedy Central called This Week at the Comedy Cellar debut recently. Its official blurb goes: “This Week at the Comedy Cellar takes an unprecedented look inside New York City's hottest comedy club and the country's top comedians as they tackle all the freshest topics of the week.” Do check it out on Friday nights at 11pm on Comedy Central. If there’s anything at all that you would like to suggest for the show or simply want to relay feedback, please do send me an email at curt@onehappypodcast.com or drop a voice message on our hotline number (302) 635-0815.

In 2017, I walked via the Camino Norte and Camino Primitivo to Santiago de Compostela. And I just returned from Spain where I walked from Leon to Santiago in 13 days. I love to share some of my best practices on the Camino whilst walking. And it is also fun to practice together, share some pilgrim stories and have some meaningful conversations and grow our nature awareness together. Most of the time, I also share a nature-based tool that helps you discover more about yourself. What to expect? These Camino walks are hikes mainly in nature with some climbs and approximately 10 – 15 km’s. Please bring a backpack with a snack, sufficient water, and wear good hiking boots. Introduction to Coach Timo Mostert Great up in Illinois and ran at BYU 1998 moved to American Fork 8 State Championships over last 9 years 8 NXN trips with an average place 5th and lowest 8th, 2nd place 3 times in the last six years School demographics 2400 students in 3 grades In our school district 3 other schools who have made it to Nike Cross Team averages 30 boys, 40 this year is the largest ever When did you decide you wanted to coach? Very early had great coaches After the freshman year in college got into education with hopes of being a coach What do you want to talk about in this podcast, what is important to building a program? Did coaching clinics the last few years How we changed from a good program to national contender Going back to basics (Lydiard) Develop aerobic engine How do we develop a good aerobic engine? Good base in summer Need to work on all phases of training all the time, just different emphasis Early in base still doing stride laps Aerobic speed can be developed and can still have a kick You have a first-year kid where do you start at and develop the newbie June may start out 4 miles a day and build up no more than 10% a week Saturday run do one more mile than the longest run of the week By August can do 10 miles Still hold back daily miles Do you give them specific paces or do you run by feel for beginners? Do what you can early Friday's do mountain runs in summer to get them in nature What 2 track workouts do you during the summer? The week before the first race will do 16x400 start 3200 pace and get faster 2:30 rest Rest walk around, jog around, clear legs Newer kids do less than 16 Build aerobic engine and less anaerobic work Get them to feel the pace and after 3-mile time trial they get paces to hit You focus on taking out some of those faster 400 workouts and doing more aerobic. Your goal is to increase the long run Varsity kids coming out of track will pick back up quickly where they were Our goal for veterans are 750 miles from memorial day to labor day with top end about 60 Capillary runs are 70-90 minutes for a long run develop more capillaries into the tissue It is the oxygen transportation system Longest run used to be 10 miles but were not getting to 70+ minutes What else are the veterans doing for a harder workout? Grinder 3 miles to a mountain, 1.3 miles up 500 feet in altitude Awards for under 9 minutes July after camp start incorporating a longer repeat workout like 4x1200 or 3xmile Lydiard called time trials, we call power runs, AT runs not a real time trial in August For your veterans are you getting more than the one run over an hour? 6-8 miles is a typical day Do you assign paces on easy and recovery days? Varsity boys know we are trying to hit aerobic threshold pace Varsity boys average 6-6:15 per mile, recovery 8minutes per mile Doubles? Doubles all year long Double at recovery run pace Morning recovery run helps them get ready for the run later in the day How much do you talk about things outside of running like sleep and nutrition? Summer camp we have classes We talk about our philosophy and what is expected Day before a meet we will talk again about preparing On a race day, what does your race day prep look like? We will do a morning run and then we will go through the visualization When we get to meet have boy in charge of warmups and cooldowns in each race 1-mile warmup, do pullouts (working on perfect form), high knees After a race 2 mile cool down and team stretch Good mix of old school and new school. What do you do about form? Form with pullouts Run a lot of hills Try to land midfoot Heel strikers are usually hips tilted forward and work on that and strong core A week in mid-September Race Friday Monday 3x1mile with 5:00 rest negative split it start 3-mile race pace and negative 7 miles and strides on Tuesday Wednesday 2 mile warm up and 2-mile power AT run with 2 miles cooldown Thursday 4.5 miles of jogging Friday race Saturday ran 6 miles and easy Plus 30 minutes every morning Total 60 miles What is your hardest session and when does it fall? 16x400 slight negative splits (12x400 for newer kids) Tough fartlek on mile loop 3 miles of :30/:30 hard easy You are doing what most coaches are doing, but you have all this success, what do you think you are doing differently? Coaches do too many intervals too fast with too little rest We always preach negative splits even on steady runs out and back Practice over and over again negative splits so second nature in race To get the job done at a national level there has to be a race strategy, how do you deal with that? You race how you train NXN not a speed course Have to have confidence you will work up when everyone else goes fast Even-keeled first mile, know where you can pass and make moves Teach them to run hills Follow

Our topic for discussion is the weather that took place down the island on this week. The weather over there is mostly not a topic of interest because it’s consistently good. However, this week, they experienced weather that was out of the ordinary. We weren’t there to personally experience it, but thanks to modern technology, we were able to see how tropical depression Kirk affected the island. It’s not as devastating as other hurricanes, however for a couple of days it affected the people’s ability to enjoy their vacations and also did quite a bit of damage on some properties. If there’s anything at all that you would like to suggest for the show or simply want to relay feedback, please do send me an email at curt@onehappypodcast.com or drop a voice message on our hotline number (302) 635-0815.

Today's episode is the continuation/part two from episode 32, where I talk about how when you are living in alignment with the cyclical nature of your menstrual cycle, with how you eat, exercise and socialize you are stepping into your greatness, ripping the benefits of living in accordance with the body's natural flow and embodying womanhood fully. This way of living allows you to move through your life in a gentler way, where you are not as harsh with yourself as so many of us are. And I think we all know what I mean by that, right? As women and mothers, we feel guilty all the time and about everything. We should ourselves all day long, we should have done that, said that, bought that, or didn't buy that, went there, stayed home, and this list just goes on and on and on... Today I am going to teach you how to live in alignment with your cyclical nature, how to capitalize on the different stages of each phase and how, as a result, you can be kinder and gentler to yourself throughout your days, weeks, months and years. By the way, I learned this system from Kate Northrup, so if you're interested in more of this you should definitely check her out. She talks about sustainable success in motherhood and how to have more by doing less. In part one I talked about how our menstrual cycle is our base point for everything, and how our food, exercise and the way we socialize should change during each phase of the cycle. So, if you didn't listen to it, please go back and listen, you can find this training over at my website, healthbeginswithmom.com/ep-32. Today I am going to talk about the last piece, which is how we should change and adapt, not only how we eat, exercise and socialize, but also how we work, study and just in general move through our days. This is super important to know and understand because we are human beings living on planet earth in a body that is connected to nature. Knowing this gives you the power to say yes (or no) to things at the right time because this is what right for you. This gives you the feeling that you have control over your life so that you are able to be proactive about the things that matter to you as opposed to being reactive to other people's schedules, your never-ending to-do list, your kids activities, spending time with the people you love, etc. You are the queen and you get to design your life in accordance with this system. When you master this, you will feel like you're ruling the world. So, there are four phases to anything you do or create, whether it is a project you are working on at work, organizing a birthday party for your child, or literally giving birth. We all move through these four phases, which are also known as the four cycles of success, and they are: Visibility - this phase has the energy of the full moon, summer, ovulation, peak fertility, rebirth, and receptivity. This is when things can be brought into manifestation. This is when you are allowing yourself to be seen, heard, present. If you think of yourself as a flower, then this is the time to blossom! In the framework of a day, this would start at 7 am and go until 11 am, which is when the sun is already high in the sky and your day has officially started. Everyone is waking up, you're packing kids lunches, backpacks are all set, hair is being brushed and everyone is rushing out the door. It's a new day! In the framework of a week, this would be early to mid-week (Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday), which is when you are well into the week, into a project, into whatever you are working on that particular week. In terms of your monthly cycle, this would be the time of ovulation. This is when you are most fertile and your hormones are all geared towards accepting a sperm and create life. Whether if you are planning on getting pregnant or not, use this energy of the month to bring something you are working on to life. This is a great time to spread the word about what you're working on, to press send, to publish, to launch. This is a great time to start new things. This is also when you might feel most chatty and most magnetic, so it's a great time to socialize, go out on dates, play with the kids, go out with your girlfriends, do sales calls, sell. You'll notice that this is when people will tell you that you look really good, and this is because biologically you are super fertile which is needed in order to attract a mate. Capitalize on this energy! Since this is when you are most fertile, again whether if you are planning on getting pregnant or not, this is the time of the month to have sex. Make this day of the month special, luscious and magnetic. Have fun Since you have lots of energy during this time of the month, enjoy dancing, bouncing off the walls, singing, and wear something that makes you feel good. And please, note that there is a difference between wearing something that makes you look sexy and something that makes you feel sexy. So we spoke about this energy that happens daily at 6 am, weekly at about mid-week (Tuesday-Wednesday), Monthly (once a month on the day of your ovulation), and in a context of a year, this would be summertime. It would be the longest day of the year during the summer solstice, so stay outside as long as you can in order to honor the energy of visibility as much as you possible. Culmination - If visibility has the energy of starting new things, the energy of culmination is bringing things into completion. This is important, especially for those of us who like to start new things but never finish them. The energy of this time in a day, week, month and a year is all geared toward culminating something you've worked on during visibility. Just to give you an example, and since we're all moms here, let's say that during visibility you were researching about a swim school for your kids. You asked friends, you made phone calls, you've seen a few schools. Now it's time to take action, choose a school and make the payment. This is what I mean by culminating something, bringing it to an end, instead of leaving something hanging in the air forever. Incomplete tasks, projects, to-dos are huge energy leaks which you want to eliminate as much as possible from your life. This is why it is important to say 'NO' to most things, especially if they are not aligned with your life's vision and purpose (more on that in a later episode). In a day, the energy of visibility would start at 7 am and go until 12 pm, then at 12 pm, this is when the energy of culmination begins and ends at about 6 pm. This is when you are most productive at work, getting stuff done, and finishing up and getting ready to go home. This is when you feel like your energy for the day is almost gone, you are getting tired, craving coffee, or a mid-day sugary snack or a pick-me-up. In a week this would be the time of almost end of the week, starting at Thursday and ending on Friday night. In terms of your menstrual cycle, culmination would occur during the luteal phase, which biologically is designed to be longer than ovulation, which is a great signal and reminder from the universe that it takes much more time to complete something than start it. There are times for new beginnings but now is not for that. This is when you will have the extra energy you need to complete, finish and culminate things. Whether it is a friendship you are waning down, weaning your baby off of a pacifier or a boob or sleep training your baby, this is time to GSD. Which stand for getting s.h.i.t done! Track your menstrual cycle and use the energy of the luteal phase to complete projects. If you are not menstruating, align yourself with the lunar cycle, and use the energy of the waning moon to wrap things up. I love this quote by Kate Northrup: "When you honor the gifts of the phase of creation you’re in, you get a lot more done in a lot less time." Looking at a year, this would be the time of fall, when leafs are falling and the earth is getting ready to go inward for winter. Fertile Void - I love this expression because it embodies the polarity of two forces that seem to not have anything to do with one another. On the one hand, it is void, empty, as though nothing is happening, and on the other it is fertile. How can that be? Let's see what is going on here. The energy during this time of the day, week, month and year pertains to rest, pausing, replenishing, and taking a breath. This is one of the most important phases of creation as this is actually when it all starts. This is the time to re-evaluate, recentre and refocus. In terms of a day, this is the time when you are asleep when your body's energy is being replenished and your mind is quiet. This is why you keep hearing that sleep is so crucial as you cannot function without it. As mothers, so many of us are sleep deprived, and I believe that for a period of time, we sort of lose our sense of security and safety because of this loss of sleep, because we lose what is supposed to ground us for the whole day, week, month and year. In terms of the week, this would be on Saturday. We all know what the bible says about the 7th day of the week, which is the day of rest. You are not supposed to work, to do any "productive" activities. Only rest. Spend time with family, kids, play board games and just give yourself permission to slow down and lay fallow. It’s the same energy as the season of winter, the new moon, and the time of the month when we bleed (aka our menstrual cycle). I love this quote by Kate Northrup: "Deep, true creativity doesn’t emerge despite the deep pause; it emerges because of it." I think in order to thrive in our lives we need to learn how to pause, sit in silence, quite our minds. Stop the chatter and tune into what matters. This is where the feeling of grounding is coming from. Emergence - this phase is the beginning of anything. The energy of the spring, where everything is just beginning to bloom, you see tiny buds coming out from the branches of the trees, you can smell renewal and newness in the air. Looking at a day, emergence would be early in the morning, right before the sun is rising, when your body will be moving a lot as to signify that you've had enough to sleep, it's time to wake up. This is also the energy of Sunday, where the week starts anew and we get to start all over again. This is the time to plant seeds and get started. If you are like me this time in the cycle of creation would feel really good, since it is much easier to start something rather than finishing it. So in order to thrive in your life, it is important to embrace the energy of culmination and the fertile void in order to complete what you set your attention to without burning yourself out. Let's say you want to plan a way overdue date night with your husband. This would be the time you'd use google a lot, you'll research, have ideas, it will start flowing to you easily. In order to get the most out of this phase, make sure to put your ideas on paper, so you don't feel scattered and all over the place. Emergence has the same energy as the follicular phase of your period (which is the 5 days or so after you bleed). If you really want to thrive then it is super important to embrace whichever phase you're currently at, and move through the cycle with grace, self-compassion and being reasonable, kind and thoughtful towards yourself. You can't and should not, do everything at once and at one time. It takes time to create, birth and complete. It is time to let go of perfection and the desire to do everything. Life doesn't work this way, so I want you to be gentle with yourself and embrace good-enoughness into your life. That's it. These are the four phases of birthing or creating anything you desire in your life. You may be asking yourself where is it start? Which phase of creation is the start? The answer to that is there is no beginning and there is no end to a cycle. It constantly flows, moving through the phases until one day, it no longer exists. Which from the perspective of the human experience would mean death, or transitioning from this world into a new realm of being. You are literally a magnet for creating and manifesting things into your life. Master this and you will soar in your womanhood, mothering, and relationships. I hope this was super helpful and insightful for you, now I want to hear from you! Which phase are you at in your life, motherhood or marriage right now? And what are the steps you are going to take in order to get the best of where you're at right now? Find me on facebook, and message me! I go under Dorit Palvanov. Whatcha think about a re-brand… On this episode Russell talks about his Ignite group and the Inner Circle group and how those and other Mastermind groups have helped his business. He also shares his idea for re-branding Marketing in Your Car, or co-branding with Marketing Quickies. Here are some cool things in today’s episode: How Russell used Mastermind groups to make more money and why he started his own. How Russell is thinking of re-branding the Marketing In Your Car Podcast And hear some fun stats of how many active members there are on Clickfunnels. So listen below to hear about the possible future of this podcast. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson and welcome to Marketing in Your Car. Hey everyone, we are at day 6 of my 6 day event and I don’t know how I am able to keep my eyes open. In fact, I am kind of struggling, I’m not going to lie. But it has been an amazing experience; it’s been really interesting. For those who are just listening the first time, I’ve got a group called Ignite, that people pay about $12,000 to be a part of and then we’ve got a group called the Inner Circle, they’ll pay $25,000 to be a part of, and the Inner Circle’s grown a lot over the last year. In fact, we had to split it into two groups this time because I just couldn’t hold it all in one group. That’s kind of what- what’s been going down, but it’s been really fun. Monday and Tuesday we had our first Inner Circle meeting. It’s kind fun, like we split them up into groups and we don’t really think too much through it, and it was interesting that first group everyone just fit right. It was weird, like literally half of the group were vegetarians which was interesting because we had brought in lunch and we didn’t have a vegetarian lunch, so we kind of blew it there. But half of the people were vegetarians and then they’re just like, all their businesses kind of fit together and the second half of the group there wasn’t a single vegetarian in the room, everyone’s super high energy, a lot of … Anyway, it was just weird. It just worked perfect, like the way that the personalities fit in a Mastermind A, Mastermind B, which is interesting. Then in the middle on Tuesday/Wednesday we did more of a big event called an Ignite event where I taught on stage for 2 days and we did a big hang-out, everybody got to hang out and get to hang out with each other. It was pretty cool, that’s kind of what we did and we had a good time and this is the last day of the last Mastermind so I’m heading in right now and it’s going to be awesome. What’s cool about this … It’s funny when I got into this business I wanted- I joined my first Mastermind group and it was Bill Glazer’s and it was awesome, I was in that group for 6 or 7 years, and just it- it took me from being a 6-figure year business to 7 and then to 8 and it was amazing. I really … It was one of the major things that was responsible for my growth and I just love Mastermind groups. Later, Bill Glazer, he kind of retired. He sold his business off and I didn’t decide to keep going with it, with the GKIC Mastermind group. I tried to find another one, I went to a lot of different groups, I’m not going to mention them by names but I went to a bunch of them and I couldn’t find any of them that I felt like I was getting the value I needed and wanted out of it. I always felt like I was one of the smartest guys in the room, which I just- I don’t like that. That’s not the point of those things. Finally, I was like, “You know what? Screw it, let’s make our own,” so we went out and built our own. I tell you what, the last few days have been amazing. There’s people that are in those rooms that are brilliant that are bringing in all these different ideas. In fact, a whole bunch of things that I’m changing my business based on the group, and I’m just grateful to have that group for myself and for them and I feel almost guilty getting paid to facilitate a group like this with the caliber people that are in it. It’s amazing, so there you go. Now one of the things I’ve been thinking about, and I want to get your guys’ opinion on this, I have no idea how you can respond back to me on this but if you can I need to figure out a better channel to respond to Marketing in Your Car stuff. When I started this podcast, whatever, 2, 3, or 4- I can’t even remember how long I’ve been doing this for now. Since I started driving. You know I called it Marketing in Your Car because that was my first idea, I had that idea the first time I heard about podcasts. It was kind of cool, and the concept’s cool, and I’m not going to change the concept, I’m still going to do this while I drive because just- my life’s so much easier. But from like a branding standpoint, it’s not really the coolest thing. Like, “Hey, go listen to Russell’s Marketing in Your Car podcast,” and it’s kind of weird, right? My jingle- I’m not going to lie, my first jingle was pretty bad; next one’s not too much better. I was like, “I want like a freaking sweet brand.” I want something where you’re searching iTunes and you see it and you’re like, “Oh, I got to join that thing,” and I don’t think Marketing in Your Car is really it. I’m thinking about doing a re-brand, and I’ve been thinking like if I’m going to do it, how I’m going to do it. I’ve kind of gotten an execution plan if I’m going to do it. Which don’t worry on your side, you won’t have to do or change or move anything. You just keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting it all. I’ve been trying to think of a couple names and … Anyway, when I started my Periscope channel the first 10 periscopes is me just randomly talking about stuff and some of them went really long. Which Periscope I’m kind of finding the shorter the better. One day I did this thing- I’ll tell you, I didn’t … The name’s not my own, I didn’t come up with it. When I first got started in this business there’s this guy named Andrew Fox, and he had a product called- Andrew Fox and Lee Benson- and they had a product called Marketing Quickies. They were just like, almost like quick marketing ideas. I always thought that was kind of cool and… Anyway, I thought it was cool so one of my marketing- or one of the periscopes I just called it a marketing quickie and, “Hey, here’s a marketing quickie,” and I jumped on it, did a quick 5-minute thing and our response rate and our share rate and everything from that thing was through the roof. I’m like, “All right, that’s kind the concept, we’re going to call this the ‘Marketing Quickie Show'” and each time it’ll be me sharing a quick marketing idea or tip or thing, right? Which honestly it’s kind of like what Marketing in Your Car is like, it’s me sharing a cool thing. I was thinking, “What if we co-brand these things together and we called it the Marketing Quickie Show,” where it’s like, “Hey, you get quickies in your car, quickies in the office, sometimes it’s on iPod’s and then it’s on periscope and it’s these cool, random marketing ideas or thoughts or just Russell’s random thing of the day and it just comes in his head,” right? Anyway, I was kind of excited about that and then I started mentioning to some people- and I kind of thought this but maybe most people won’t, but just the sexual side of quickies and quickies in your car and marketing quickies and … And I don’t know if me, Russell the clean-cut Mormon kid, if that’s a good branding or bad branding- I don’t even know. I don’t know, but definitely thinking about doing some kind of re-brand on the podcast but then co-branding with the periscope and blending those 2 things together so that these things are together. I don’t know, what do you think? Is Marketing Quickies cool? Is it stupid? Is it a little too innuendo? Or, I don’t even know how to … Anyway, I don’t know. That’s my thought process right now, so this may be branded in the near future to something different but I don’t know yet. We will see but I wanted to kind of just share that with you guys. Because you guys are my faithful, you are the ones who are listening to Marketing in Your Car. I had … One of the guys yesterday was like, “Yeah, like I heard people talk about it 3 or 4 times but I never like, was inspired enough to like, to go listen to it.” Because it wasn’t, it was just Marketing in Your Car, and then after I got into this and then I loved it and I went back I listened to all of the old episodes and it was amazing, but it wasn’t something that sucked you in. I get that, it was a branding idea from 1998 that I had, or whenever podcasts first came out. Maybe it was 2002, I don’t know. Yeah, so there you go. In fact, the reason why I did call it Marketing in Your Car when I did launch it, cause I had the idea a long time ago, some dude wrote a jingle for me, it sounded like the 1970’s for the first hundred episodes. I never used it for 5 or 6 years, and I did launch it and I’m like, “Aw, I’ve already got a jingle that’s done! Let’s just do that,” so I started recording them. Then my brother, I had him go find the jingle and then I was like, “Oh yeah, it sounds like this is like a 1970’s sitcom.” I was like, “You know what? It’s done, screw it, let’s just run with it.” That’s kind of how- why we stuck with that direction. Anyway, there you go. But that’s kind of what going on in my head right now. I hope you guys are having fun in your business right now. There’s so much fun stuff happening, like Click Funnels, we just passed 10,000 active members which is crazy, and by 10,000 active members, I’m not giving you stats, like some companies drive me crazy. One company I won’t mention is like, “Oh, we have 80- we have 80,000 customers,” and then when you did deeper, it turns out they’ve had 80,000 people take their trial, but they have 200 people that are actual members, right? We’ve had 60 or 70 thousand people take our trial but we have 10,000 active people who have made it passed the re-bill and are continuing to be re-billed. We are now a legit software company, right? In fact, we had someone make us our first offer to buy us which was kind of cool. I’m not interested because I’m having way too much fun but it was flattering and it was crazy big which was kind of cool, so that’s exciting but don’t worry guys, we’re not going anywhere. We’ve got a lot more envisioned, we are- we’ve got to finish before we even contemplate anything like that, so no worries on that side. I remember at the Funnel Hacking event someone asked that, “Are you guys going to go public or sell out, or what’s your plan?” I was like, “Screw that, I’m having so much fun!” This is my future, I don’t want to do anything else. Nothing else is nearly as fun as this. Anyway, it was still flattering, you got to ask, right? It’s like if a really cute girl comes up to you and- and you got to know … Anyway, there you go. I don’t even know why I brought that analogy, that’s a stupid analogy. It’s probably because I’m so tired, and you guys … Sometimes you get the worst thoughts because I’m so tired, so I apologize for that. I’m actually running a little bit late to the Mastermind group, I hope that these guys can forgive me but it was just hard to get out of the door this morning. My little daughter is so stinking cute and I just didn’t want to leave, so there you go. Anyway, with that said you guys I’m trying to ramble and I don’t want these to be the rambling show, these are quickie shows, right? Maybe. Appreciate you guys listening, I hope that you have an amazing day. Go do something good, go change someone’s life, and get your message out there to the world. All right everybody, have a nice day and we’ll talk soon.

In the intermediate section this month, we studied parts of the body. Listen and try to say the word before I do. Then repeat the word to practise pronunciation: What do you use when you listen to music and when you hear people speaking? - your ears. What’s inside your head and is used to think with? your brain. Ok, these are in your mouth and you use them to bite and chew food. Bite is morder and chew – masticar. The answer? your teeth. Giraffes have very long ones. Neck These are thin pieces of skin that cover your eyes when you close them; your eyelids – eyelids. You use these to smile and kiss someone with. Your lips. You have ten of these on your feet. These are your toes. On your hands, you have eight what? Fingers – dedos de mano and two…. thumbs – I think thumb is pulgar in Spanish? ¿Dedo gordo? OK, what is inside your mouth and you use it to taste food? your tongue. The spelling of tongue is strange; T-O-N-G-U-E – tongue. The organ inside you which pumps blood around your body is your…. heart. The two joints that connect your feet to your legs are your…. ankles. Don’t confuse ankle – tobillo with uncle – tío. Repeat; ankle – uncle. These two joints are in the middle of your legs and they are your knees, with a silent ‘K’ repeat – knees. The two joints in the middle of your arms are your elbows. and finally, the part of your body where you would wear a watch is your wrist. Also in the intermediate section, there was a word formation exercise. We can take a root word, for example the adjective definite - definitivo, seguro and change it by adding prefixes (prefijos) and suffixes (sufijos). A prefix changes the meaning of the word. So if you add -in to definite you get the opposite – indefinite. You change the word family if you change the suffix. So, the adjective definite becomes an adverb if you add –ly. Definitely. “I’ll definitely see you tomorrow.” The verb to increase means to go up. Property prices are increasing. What’s the opposite of to increase? It’s to decrease. Prices are decreasing. They’re going down. Many adverbs are made by adding –LY For example slow – slowly; beautiful – beautifully; dangerous – dangerously. Increase is the same. “It’s becoming increasingly more difficult to find a job.” “She’s playing increasingly well.” An experienced player has experience. What’s the opposite of experienced? – inexperienced. Short is an adjective; a short film, a short holiday. The verb of short is to shorten with -en. To make something shorter you shorten it. “My mum shortened my new trousers.” Deaf D-E-A-F is an adjective and the verb is to deafen. We were deafened by the noise. Sharp (afilado) is another adjective that adds -en to make it a verb, so to sharpen. “This knife isn’t very sharp. You need to sharpen it.” What’s the English for the adjective fuerte? – strong. This coffee’s a bit strong. What’s the noun of strong? It’s strength. How do you spell it? S-T-R-E-N-G-T-H. So, the verb is to strengthen, in Spanish fortalecer o reforzar. “This piece of wood will strengthen the table.” To recognise in Spanish is reconocer. “I recognised him from the party last week.” What’s the noun of recognise? - recognition. – and the adjective? recognisable – the opposite of recognisable is unrecognisable. “So many years had passed since I’d seen her that she was totally unrecognisable to me.” What’s avoid in Spanish? – evitar – “I saw her in the street but she avoided me.” What’s the adjective? – avoidable. “It’s an avoidable situation. You can avoid it.” And the opposite of avoidable is…. unavoidable. “I’m sorry I was late for the meeting. It was unavoidable. I was unavoidably delayed.” The opposite of expensive is…. cheap or inexpensive. “We had quite an inexpensive holiday. The flights were really cheap.” Response is a noun. A response is a reply or a reaction to something - una respuesta. What’s the verb of response? To respond - and the adjective? – responsive. “There is a very responsive operating system in this mobile phone.” So, what’s the opposite of responsive? – unresponsive. Responsibility is also a noun. To take responsibility. “I took full responsibility for the mistakes in the report.” The adjective unlikely means improbable, poco probable “They’re unlikely to agree.” – es poco probable que acepten. Collocations include highly and most. For example: “It’s most unlikely – it’s highly unlikely” – es muy poco probable. Repeat: It’s highly unlikely – “It’s highly unlikely he’ll sign the contract.” Es poco probable que aparezca ahora – “It's unlikely that he'll turn up now.” Gratitude is a noun. What’s the adjective? grateful. “I’m very grateful for your help.” Do you know the opposite? – ungrateful. “She’s the most ungrateful person I know.” Last month, on Facebook, Knelitaz (I hope I pronounced you name correctly) asked about the difference in pronunciation between sang and sung – the 2nd and 3rd forms of the verb to sing – cantar. Well, the 2nd form, sang, has the /a/ sound like in cat, hat, sat etc. The 3rd form, sung, has the /u/ sound like in cut, up, cup etc. Repeat: sing sang sung. There are other irregular verbs that have the same sounds. Listen and repeat: nadar – to swim – swim, swam, swum – llamar - to ring – ring, rang, rung – beber – to drink, drink, drank, drank – cantar – to sing – sing, sang, sung – empezer – to begin –begin, begin, begun – hundir – to sink – sink, sank, sunk. Thanks very much for your question Knelitaz, and I hope I’ve pronounced your name correctly. The advanced section this month practised money vocabulary and words connected to lies and deception. Don’t forget that in English we say to tell a lie not say a lie. If you tell a fib F-I-B it’s a small lie and if you tell a whopper it’s huge! If you are taken in by someone you’re fooled by them – engañado. ‘I was completely taken in by her.’ A hoax is an engaño. “The whole situation that John described turned out to be a hoax” A con is timo in Spanish. A conman or con artist in Spanish is estafador or timador. – ‘They thought he was a Wall Street genius but he was really a world class con artist.’ On the subject of money, if a person is rolling in it they have a lot of money – and I mean a lot of money – ‘He’s absolutely rolling in it’, and this expression implies a touch of envy. When you want to save, you put money aside or to one side. “I’m putting some of my salary to one side for my daughter’s 16th birthday party.” If you’ve got money to burn, you’ve got so much money that you can waste some of it and spend it on silly things. ‘I’ve got money to burn.” (I haven’t really!) If you save up for a rainy day, you save for a time in the future when you might need a bit of extra cash. “I’ve got a couple of thousand put aside for a rainy day.” Notice the “up” in save up. “What are you saving up for?” - “I’m saving up for my Christmas holiday.” In the business section there were some telephone expressions. For example, devolver la llamada a alguien can be to phone someone back, or to ring someone back or to call someone back. Call someone is more common in American English and ring or phone someone is more common in British English. Also on the telephone, we say “This is…” not X”I am”X. ‘Hello, this is Simon’, or “Simon speaking.” You can also say “It’s..”. - “Hello, it’s George, is Maria there?” To connect someone on the phone is to put them through. If you phone a large company, you may hear, “Just a second please, I’m putting you through.” Or “Hold the line please and I’ll put you through when she’s free.” To hold the line means to wait – esperar. You may hear, “Please hold” or “Please hold on”. You can say “Can you put me through to the manager?” or “Please put me through to the sales department.” A salary is usually paid every month by bank transfer, and a wage is often paid in cash weekly or even daily. For example. builders, manual workers and workers who don’t pay tax are often paid cash wage. Fee F-E-E can be honorarios, a doctor’s fee or a lawyer’s fee, or el precio de entrada. “How much is the entrance fee?” And when you register for a course you pay a fee – una matrícula o inscripción. – “Have you paid the course fees yet?” “Are the fees expensive for a private school?” Charge is cargo or precio in Spanish. – “There is no charge for the service” - no se cobra por el servicio, el servicio es gratis. – “Free of charge” or “Without charge”- , gratis, sin cargo – “At no extra charge” - Sin cargo adicional And you’ll also be pleased to know that there is on charge for this podcast.
