A conversation with Oliver Markley and Ruben Nelson remembering Willis Harman, author of Global Mind Change and An Incomplete guide to the Future exploring who he was and what he meant to them.
Today, we're going to talk about poop shape and color, and address gut warning signs in your stool. Normal poop should be brown and sausage-shaped. Small, hard, pellet-shaped poop indicates that something may be wrong higher up in the digestive tract.Soft stool indicates that you may have some missing microbes or food allergies. Pathogens can cause loose stool as your body tries to quickly eliminate them. Unfortunately, with diarrhea and liquid stool, good bacteria are also eliminated. Consume kefir or yogurt with blackberries to restore the good bacteria in your digestive tract. Thin, pencil or cigar-shaped stool signifies a problem in the colon. This could mean the colon is impacted, you have many polyps, or there's some obstruction in the bowels. You'd want to get this checked by a medical professional.Normal stools should be brown in color. If you have a problem with your liver or you have thickened bile or bile sludge in the bile ducts, your poop will be light-colored or gray. Floating stool that is also light-colored further confirms this problem. If your problem is linked to the pancreas, your stool will have a bad odor and may appear greasy. Rarely, this could be associated with cancer, but most of the time, it is caused by an overworked pancreas. Black stool is often a sign of something more serious, usually caused by oxidized blood. Blueberries and blackberries can also cause black stool. Beets can cause your stool to appear red. Hemorrhoids can cause red stool due to fresh blood. Collinsonia root is an excellent remedy for hemorrhoids. Green stool is usually caused by chlorophyll from vegetable consumption. It's not normal to poop once every 2 to 3 days. You should have a bowel movement 1 to 2 times daily. Intermittent fasting is the most important thing you can do for your digestive tract. Frequent eating is very problematic and never allows your digestive system the chance to reset.Incomplete digestion usually results from low stomach acid. Betaine hydrochloride is the best remedy for this problem. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. He is the Director of Dr. Berg Nutritionals and author of the best-selling book The Healthy Keto Plan. He no longer practices, but focuses on health education through social media.

Many developed countries are creating immigration policies designed specifically to attract the most talented migrants. We often assume that when those skilled and educated citizens migrate from low-income countries in search of high-paying opportunities, it causes a “brain drain” in their home countries, delaying or hobbling development. A new article in the journal Science puts that assumption to the test and finds that there is also the possibility of a brain gain at home, as investments in education, remittances, and the contribution of the diaspora to investment and changing norms can more the compensate for the loss of skills. Cátia Batista of Nova School of Business and Economics and Caroline Theoharides of Amherst College are two of the authors of the article, and they tell Tim Phillips about what the potential for brain gains, but also the policies that are needed to make sure this happens. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Troy Albertson from Altoona, IA. Your partnership with us through Project 23 is completing God's work and word in the lives of others. This study is for you. Our text today is Mark 8:22-26: And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”— Mark 8:22-26 Jesus arrives in Bethsaida, and a blind man is brought to him. But rather than heal immediately, Jesus does something unexpected. He leads the man away from the village. Then comes the moment: spit, touch, and a question—“Do you see anything?” The man answers honestly, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” He's been touched… but not fully healed. His vision is still blurry. So Jesus touches him again. And this time, everything becomes clear. If you've ever felt like Jesus started something in your life but hasn't finished it—this moment is for you. This healing wasn't evidence of Jesus' lack of power. It was intentional. It was a visual parable for the disciples—and us today. You see, sometimes, God's work in us unfolds in stages. It's not always instant. Sometimes, our spiritual sight improves gradually. Sometimes, the spiritual healing we need takes time. But Jesus never leaves it unfinished. When the answers are partial in your life, remember that he's not done. When your spiritual sight is blurry, remember he's still working. When his touch feels incomplete, remember he's coming back with more. You may be in between touches today—don't panic. He hasn't forgotten you. His grace is not half-measured. His power is not limited. His plan is not on pause. Wait. Trust. Let Jesus finish what he started in you. He won't fail. #GodIsStillWorking, #FaithInProcess, #Mark8 ASK THIS: Have you ever felt like God started something but didn't finish it? Why do you think Jesus healed this man in stages? What area of your life feels “blurry” right now? How can you stay faithful while waiting for clarity? DO THIS: Pray today for endurance in the in-between—trusting God to finish the work Jesus began in you. PRAY THIS: Jesus, even when I can't see clearly, I trust that You're still working. Complete the work You've started in me—Your timing, not mine. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Firm Foundation (He Won't)."

Almost 40 percent of the state budget goes to preschool through high school education – around $25 billion over two years. For school districts, state dollars make up most of what gets spent on classroom costs, from teacher salaries to specialists to materials. So it's no surprise that the education budget bill is always one of the last to come together. MPR News politics editor discusses what's happening in schools and the direction state lawmakers might go when setting a new education budget. The Legislature's finale is near, but the new state budget is still a work in progress. And it's going to take some long days and long nights to meet the May 19 adjournment deadline. Guests: Rep. Synopsis: Learn the history behind May Day, or International Workers' Day. The holiday commemorates the 1886 Chicago workers' strike known as the Haymarket Affair, where laborers demanded an eight-hour workday. The protest turned deadly and several activists were martyred—marking the day as a symbol of the ongoing fight for workers' rights.Description (Rewind- Origin Date May 2016): Laura and Peter Linebaugh discuss the origins of May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, the subject of his book, "The Incomplete, True, Authentic, and Wonderful History of May Day." Laura also shares her F-Word commentary on the intersectional feminism of 19th Century Anarchist Lucy Parsons. "The changes can happen very quickly, very quickly. I believe in preventative health and today I am discussing my experience getting my second colonoscopy at the age of 53. The recommended age for colonoscopies is now 45 instead of 50. I think many people put it off because they don't know what is going to happen, so I'm going into detail (without sharing TMI) so you can feel prepared. I put my colonoscopy off for too long because I didn't have enough information, so I wanted to share what I know based on what I went through in case it helps you. Also, my first colonoscopy was incomplete. In this solocast I share what was different the second time around, including the anesthesia used and why I scheduled it for a different time of day. This episode is not advice. It is for entertainment purposes only. Anything dealing with your health should be discussed with your trusted healthcare provider, always. Brennan is joined this week by Cameron (whom we finally give a chance to plug her own podcast, Stoneybrook Reunion) and Andrew, and the three of them are having a conversations about incomplete franchises: series that stalled out in the middle, sequel hooks that never caught anything, book adaptations that didn't make it all the way through the source material. Before they get to that point, Andrew shares his experience with the confounding 2001 film Despiser, while Cameron looks at the new release Eephus, and Brennan brings the even newer release Locked. It's a wide-ranging look at movies and series old and new, and it provides a lot to think about, even though Tim, in absentia, is screaming all sorts of nasty things at the group for failing to mention Horizon: An American Saga.

We're looking at the red zone concept - that set of triggers or circumstances that you may still deem unapproachable or too triggering to fully face. We'll look at the very definition of what recovery means and why sometimes that word itself can be problematic. There's some discussion of how earlier recovery can sometimes accidentally hinge on learning to do things without being triggered rather than working through triggered states. And as usual, there's a healthy dose of understanding and a few laughs along the way!---Disordered Roundtables are here! Think of it as "Disordered Live", a way for members of our audience to spend time with us in an intimate virtual setting (attendance is limited) to engage in real time sharing and discussion on specific anxiety disorder and recovery topics. It’s the mother of all economic numbers: GDP, or gross domestic product. But U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says he wants to take government spending out of that number in official statistics. That could have serious implications for our understanding of the economy. Also on the show: how President Donald Trump’s tariffs could hit the auto industry and why adults are keeping the toy industry going.

Want to walk through Advent with Fr. Mike? Join us for daily video Advent reflections in the Ascension App: https://ascensionpress.com/pages/frmikeadvent Homily from the Second Sunday of Advent. God will bring the work He has begun to completion. We can do so many things in the Christian life that are important. But if we miss the most important aspect of following Christ, our lives will be incomplete. We are called to love...and yet we do not have it in us to be able to love the way we need to. Thankfully, God meets us in our need and our lack and supplies us with all we need. Mass Readings from December 8, 2024: Baruch 5:1-9 Ps 126:1-6Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11 Luke 3:1-6
