On May 25, 2003, at Luanda's Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Angola, a Boeing 727 with tail number N844AA mysteriously took off without clearance, piloted by Ben Padilla—a seasoned aviation mechanic, flight engineer, and private pilot—and another unidentified individual. The plane, originally a commercial airliner converted to cargo use, was undergoing maintenance when it suddenly taxied down the runway and vanished into the skies over the Atlantic Ocean, leaving behind no trace. Despite international search efforts involving the FBI, CIA, and various aviation authorities, no concrete leads or evidence ever surfaced, fueling countless theories ranging from financial theft and clandestine operations to possible terrorist involvement. Padilla's family believes he was coerced into the incident, while others speculate on his possible involvement. The mystery of the missing Boeing 727 and Ben Padilla remains one of aviation's most perplexing cases, with neither the man nor the massive aircraft ever found, raising questions about how such a disappearance could occur in the age of modern surveillance.Nicole Morin, an eight-year-old girl from Toronto, vanished without a trace on July 30, 1985, while on her way to meet a friend for a swim in her apartment complex's pool. Despite an extensive search involving hundreds of police officers, volunteers, helicopters, and media coverage, no evidence or witnesses were found, making her disappearance one of Canada's most perplexing unsolved mysteries. Various theories emerged, ranging from abduction by someone with access to the building to a predator lurking nearby, but none led to significant breakthroughs. Nicole's family and law enforcement never gave up hope, and modern efforts, including age-progression technology and DNA testing, have kept the case alive, though her fate remains unknown nearly four decades later. July 30, 1985 was a hot summer day in Toronto, Ontario, and 8-year-old Nicole Morin planned on spending it at the pool with her friends. The little girl donned her bathing suit, grabbed her beach towel, and said goodbye to her mother, Jeanette. It was around 11 am when Nicole left her penthouse apartment and headed to the elevator to meet her friend in the lobby. But Nicole never arrived. Once Jeanette realized that her daughter was missing and called the police, the search for Nicole quickly became the largest investigation in Toronto's history up to that point. A tremendous amount of time, money, and effort was put into finding Nicole Morin, but no trace of her was found. Was this simply a crime of opportunity, or was Nicole's disappearance related to a much larger issue in Toronto in the 80s?Anyone with information on Nicole Morin's disappearance is asked to contact police at 416-808-2205 or via email at findnicole@torontopolice.on.ca.Buy the ebook! - And Then They Were Gone: True Stories of Those Who Went Missing and Never Came HomeFind us everywhereGet episodes early and ad-free on PatreonMerch storeFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blogBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/and-then-they-were-gone--5360779/support.

In 1985, 8-year-old Nicole Morin mysteriously vanished from her apartment building in Toronto. She was set to meet a friend in the lobby to go to the pool but never made it. The friend talked to Nicole on the intercom system and waited for her to come down. After a period of time, she buzzed Nicole's apartment, asking her mother where she was. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the mysterious disappearance of Nicole Morin. The police went to all 400+ units of the building and entered if no one was home in an attempt to find Nicole. They pieced together what few details they could of her day, but no one they talked to had heard or seen anything unusual. It became, at the time, the largest police search in Toronto history.
