Ende Januar veröffentlichte das US-Justizministerium Millionen Dokumente im Fall Jeffrey Epstein. In ihnen finden sich Hinweise auf ein mutmaßliches Netzwerk aus Menschenhandel und sexualisierter Gewalt – sowie die Geschichte einer Frau, die in den Akten als "Jane Doe" geführt wird.  Aus E-Mails, Tagebüchern und einer Zivilklage ergibt sich das Bild einer Jugendlichen, die nach eigenen Angaben in Epsteins Umfeld geraten sein soll. Sie erhebt schwere Vorwürfe gegen den inzwischen verstorbenen Finanzier und gegen einen weiteren einflussreichen Investor. Gerichtsurteile gibt es in ihrem Fall bislang nicht. Die Beschuldigten bestreiten die Anschuldigungen, Verfahren laufen noch.  Epstein selbst wurde 2008 wegen der Beschaffung von Minderjährigen für Prostitution verurteilt und kam bald wieder frei. 2019 starb er in Untersuchungshaft. Der Fall erregte weltweit Aufsehen und nährt bis heute Verschwörungstheorien. Die Akten enthalten zahlreiche Fotos von ihm mit Prominenten und hochrangigen Politikern wie Bill Clinton und Donald Trump. Pero el verdadero protagonista de la jornada no fueron los futbolistas, ni el partido en sí, sino el espectáculo del entretiempo que este año tenía como estrella invitada al popular cantante puertorriqueño Bad Bunny. Aunque no era el primer artista hispano en actuar en una Super Bowl (ya lo hicieron Shakira y Jennifer López en 2020, y Gloria Estefan en 1992 y 1999), Bad Bunny ofreció un espectáculo cantado casi íntegramente en español, algo que no se había hecho nunca. Interpretó varios éxitos de su repertorio reggaetonero rindiendo homenaje a la cultura hispana y, más concretamente, a la puertorriqueña. La escenografía recreó elementos de la vida cotidiana en Puerto Rico como un laberinto de caña de azúcar, una casa típica, ancianos jugando al dominó, un salón de belleza y boxeadores entrenando. Para el cierre, con banderas de todo el continente, clavó un balón de fútbol con la frase “Juntos, somos América”.
