Guest Pastor Isaac Morin from Anaheim joins us at Echo Church to deliver a powerful message from John 3:22-36 on what it means to "decrease so Christ may increase." Through the story of John the Baptist and his disciples, Pastor Isaac challenges us to embrace personal decrease, not as failure, but as the fulfillment of God's calling. He shows how true joy, spiritual growth, and eternal impact are found not in self-promotion or comfort, but in surrendering our lives and engaging fully in the mission of Christ. If you're seeking practical encouragement for living a life that honors Jesus above all else, this message will inspire you to step back, let Christ take the spotlight, and experience the joy of seeing His kingdom advance!

Welcome back, cinephiles and perverts, and welcome to Season Two of Sex in the Cinema!!! To kick off Season Two, Torie is joined by Angelenos and expert hate-watchers Chelsey Morin and Thien-Y Hoang to demolish the cultural phenomenon that was the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. From its humble beginnings in a Twilight fanfiction forum, to the published printed page, all the way to the silver screen, this gross disservice to the kink community turned on the world. For SITC's Season Two Premiere, we're tackling the first installment of the trilogy, 50 SHADES OF GREY. Released in 2015 and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (wife of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, mind you), this film launched the careers of usually good actors Dakota Johnson and Jaimie Dornan.   Mousy brunette super-virgin Anastasia Steele's simple life turns upside down when she meets sexy billionaire (and apparent Never Nude), Christian Grey. Anastasia soon finds out Christian doesn't do relationships, but he does enjoy “various physical pursuits.” Namely, kidnapping women and coercing them into dom/sub relationships of very questionable ethics.   What ensues is two hours of sociopathic behavior, painful lack of chemistry, horrifically awful dialogue, NDAs and contracts, too many needle drops, countless glasses of unconsumed white wine, mostly vanilla sex, an apparent proclivity for Hollister men's jeans, a dusting of taboo slap & tickle, one impressive den of iniquity set, and wayyyyyy too many red flags.    So bust out those handcuffs and settle in for the long haul because, in the words of Christian Grey, there's “no escaping now…”

Fellow writer and mother of adult children, Michele Morin, talks about modeling who God is for our children as our greatest legacy. Mother of four grown boys-now-men with families of their own, I love how Michele trusts God for each new season of her life, even a season with a chronic illness included. You will be blessed with tons of practical wisdom today as we talk about how we deal with unanswered prayers and questions and try not to catastrophize every little thought that comes into our brains.  Some gems from our convo: We make the mistake of defining God's goodness by how he answers our prayers—or not. I used to have to "send myself to my room" for a time-out so I could do some much-needed attitude adjustment.  I had to learn that making a good life for a family I loved was exactly where and what God wanted me to do and be. Never forget that we are modeling for our kids what God is like. Only a free person has the privilege of rest. Chronic disease helps me stay present to today's work rather than projecting and catastrophizing what may lay ahead. We tend to put our hope in our prayers instead of God himself which can make what we pray for an idol. To lean into God's goodness on a daily basis helps to keep our walk with God fresh and not rote.   Michele is the author of over 8 YouVersion Bible Reading devotionals which you can find HERE. She's a regular contributor at DesiringGod.com. Because “the way we live our days will be, after all, the way we live our lives,” you are invited to peruse Michele's writing on her website here at your leisure. michelemorin.net Michele Morin is a reader, writer, speaker, and gardener who does life with her family on a country hill in Maine. She has been married to an unreasonably patient husband for thirty years, and together they have four sons, four daughters-in-love, and five adorable grandchildren.  Active in educational ministries with her local church, Michele delights in sitting at a table surrounded by women with open Bibles. She loves hot tea and well-crafted sentences, poems that stop her in her tracks, and days at the ocean with the whole family.  She laments biblical illiteracy and advocates for the prudent use of “little minutes.”

How do you actually get your practice to show up when someone asks ChatGPT, “Who's the best therapist in my city?” That's the question I dive into with Chris Morin from Moonraker AI in this episode. AI-driven search is changing fast, and therapists who want to attract private pay clients can no longer rely only on traditional SEO. Chris and I break down what's shifting, why AI is now a major marketing channel, and what practical steps you can start taking today to make sure your name appears in these new AI-powered answers. In this episode of The Pulling Curls Podcast, Hilary chats with Dani Morin about the many paths to pregnancy, navigating tough relationships with healthcare providers, and whether you can really trust AI for pregnancy advice. Dani shares her unique experience of becoming a mom through different methods, including home insemination, and opens up about the challenges she faced after loss and while being a single parent. The discussion is honest, real, and packed with supportive insights for anyone on their own parenthood journey. Big thanks to our sponsor The Online Prenatal Class for Couples -- if you're looking to get prepared with your partner, it's your best option! The episode highlights the emotional aftermath of Dani's first pregnancy, including the life-changing impact of her son's tragic loss and her journey through grief, sobriety, and rediscovering her sense of purpose as a mother. Dani describes how early parenting trends and online information influenced her choices—she candidly discusses how she embraced “all-natural” parenting, even using products later shown to be unsafe, and how she has since shifted to an evidence-based approach. Hilary and Dani emphasize that unplanned pregnancies are far more common than most people believe, and that being surprised by pregnancy doesn't make anyone less of a mom. Dani details her experience with home insemination using donor sperm as a cost-effective and empowering option for single women or couples with fertility challenges, demystifying and normalizing this choice. The conversation explores the stigma, criticism, and unsolicited advice Dani encountered online and in real life regarding her non-traditional paths to motherhood. Dani shares practical tips for others considering home insemination, including financial readiness, emotional support, and building a “village” before taking that step. The difficulties of navigating healthcare, especially when you're high risk or dissatisfied with your provider, are explored—Dani discusses real challenges in switching OBs, accessing support, and advocating for yourself during pregnancy. Dani and Hilary discuss the limitations—and some dangerous pitfalls—of using AI and online sources for pregnancy advice, and stress the value of trustworthy, evidence-based resources. Throughout the episode, the importance of compassion from healthcare providers, honest conversations, and finding the right support network for your unique pregnancy and parenting journey shines through. Upon completing his service, Zachary returned to New England to lead the College Ready Communities program in Northern Rhode Island. Here, his work included holistic programming for vulnerable youth populations and overall community engagement initiatives. He also has a creative/performative side, which he will talk about.Following my conversation with Zach, you'll hear an episode from 2023 with the Pulitzer Prize and Emmy-winning cartoonist, Garry Trudeau. Garry is also an Army Commander's Award for Public Service honoree. In this conversation, Garry tells us that not only did his dad and grandfather both serve, but they were also both physicians. He recounts an eye-opening visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, with stories of injury and resilience that not only informed his storytelling but have had lasting impacts on him. As a big fan of author Sebastian Junger, he discusses the innate need for the tribe to survive, and explains a bit of his creative process. Part Two will come shortly.Run To Home Base: Join Ron and his team and sign up individually or on another team at the 16th annual Run To Home Base on July 26th, 2025, at Fenway Park! How can we build a sense of hope when the future feels uncertain? Poet Tomás Morín tries a writing practice to make him feel more hopeful and motivated to work toward his goals.Summary: Can writing about your hopes make you feel more optimistic? In this episode, poet Tomás Morin tries a hope-focused writing practice developed by psychologist Charlotte Van-Oyen Witvliet. Backed by research, the practice helps people feel more hopeful, motivated, and grounded in gratitude, even in the face of uncertainty. How To Do This Practice:  Write about something you deeply hope will happen, but can't fully control. Reflect on how important this hope is to you and how motivated you are to pursue it.  Recall a past hope that once felt uncertain but eventually came true. Write about what you're grateful for from that experience, including who helped and what you learned. Connect what you learned then to what you're hoping for now. End by naming one small action you can take today toward your current hope.
