We talk to Phil Soussan - Bassist, Songwriter & Producer. It would have been hard to predict the musical journey that Phil Soussan would take from being born and raised in London to being thrust into the Hard Rock spotlight of the 1980s, relocating to the USA as part of the Ozzy Osbourne band and being responsible for the huge hit single 'Shot In The Dark'. Phil has walked steadily and thoughtfully throughout his career making choices that felt right and continue to this day as bassist for Last In Line and a continual flow of production and performance roles. On a spring morning in 2017, a mother of three in Evansville, Indiana logged onto Facebook and noticed a story in her news feed that made her heart start to race. Just a couple of hours earlier, the body of a young woman was found in a field one town over – and police had no clue who the young woman was. The physical description was vague, but it matched all three of the woman's daughters. So right away, she picked up her phone and began trying to reach them, to make sure each of them was okay. Her two youngest girls replied within minutes, but the oldest one of them did not. And with every minute that passed without a word from her oldest daughter, the woman became more and more frantic until she reached out to a friend of hers on the police force. And what she soon would learn, before the morning became afternoon, would change her family's life forever... and change the course of two separate police investigations. For 100s more stories like these, check out our main YouTube channel just called "MrBallen" -- https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBallenIf you want to reach out to me, contact me on Instagram, Twitter or any other major social media platform, my username on all of them is @mrballenSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In the realm of old-time radio crime dramas, two iterations of "The Avenger" emerged in the United States. The first installment, broadcast weekly on WHN in New York City, aired from July 18, 1941, until November 3, 1942. The second version, syndicated nationally, ran from October 25, 1945, to April 18, 1946. In the 1941-1942 version, Richard Henry Benson, a crime-fighter with super-strength known as "The Avenger," was joined by his sidekick Fergus "Mac" MacMurdie. Benson was considered a blend of the Shadow and Doc Savage characters, combining elements of each in an attempt to replicate their commercial success. The 1945-1946 version of "The Avenger" was described as a "poor man's version of The Shadow" by radio historian John Dunning. Jim Brandon, the alter ego of the new Avenger, was a biochemist who used inventions like the Telepathic Indicator and Secret Diffusion Capsule to combat crime. Despite their differences, the two versions of "The Avenger" shared some similarities. The Avenger in both iterations had a loyal subordinate who knew his true identity, was hidden by a black light of invisibility, and could interpret the "thought flashes" of others. These similarities could be attributed to the fact that Walter B. Gibson, the creator of The Shadow, also played a role in shaping the character of The Avenger. In terms of personnel, the 1941-1942 version featured an unknown New York actor as Richard Henry Benson and Humphrey Davis as Fergus "Mac" MacMurdie, with Maurice Joachim as the director and Paul Ernst (writing as Kenneth Robeson) and Henry Ralston as writers. The 1945-1946 version had James Monks initially playing the lead role, later replaced by Dick Janaver, with Helen Adamson as assistant Fern Collier, George Ansbro as the announcer, Doc Whipple providing the music, and Charles Michelson as the producer. Writers for this version included Gil Braun, Ruth Braun, and Walter Gibson. The 1945-1946 version of "The Avenger," distributed by Charles Michelson Inc. of New York City, was syndicated via transcription, with 52 episodes available to stations across the nation. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dwight-allen0/support

Ever wonder how vaccines go from a lab experiment to a jab in your arm? In this episode of The Bare Facts, we dive into the rigorous (and surprisingly slow) process vaccines undergo before they're approved for use. We'll break down all the science-y stuff into bite-sized, brain-friendly pieces—because who really knows what “clinical trials” even mean? But wait, there's more! We'll also tackle the hot topic of the Covid vaccine. How did they manage to roll it out so fast? Is it really different from all the others? And, of course, we'll address the elephant in the room: the conspiracy theories swirling around. Spoiler alert: the truth might not be as wild as you think, but we promise, it's way more fascinating.

Give online therapy a try at betterhelp.com/BENEATH and get on your way to being your best self.” ** Sometimes, there is nothing quite like a good old B-movie. Maybe the production values aren't the best, and maybe the story is grittier than most, but these little gems have provided hours of viewing pleasure to so many. These films also had great leading men in them. Studly, sturdy, reliable actors who might not be GARY COOPER or CARY GRANT or CLARK GABLE, but were handsome and talented and knew how to beat up the bad guys and win over the lovely leading lady. As an homage to the leading men of the B's, this week, we'll take a look at the lives an careers of five of our favorites. In this week's episode of The Bones Booth, Andrew, Maggie and Taryn discuss season eight episode fourteen of Bones, "The Shot in the Dark."
I give thanks for words of encouragement. I consider the shocking aftermath of the attempt on former President Trump's life. We look at Rebekah and her unborn twins, and God's sovereignty. I remember going to the "pool" as a kid, and consider the foolishness of the devil.
This week: a cop who was accidentally shot by another cop fights for his life, Abby works to get the best care for a little girl whose parents want her transferred, Luka tries to play dad again as Alex gets suspended from school, Chen is looking very exhausted, Carter tries rock climbing, and Neela lays into Ray after he lets down a teenage boy who needed his help.
“Then I submit, Inspector Ballon, that you arrived home, found Miguel with Maria Gambrelli and killed him in a rit of fealous jage!” The Pink Panther received its world premiere in Italy in December 1963 and was officially released in the US in March 1964. Despite David Niven topping the bill, the character of Inspector Jacques Clouseau - played by Peter Sellers - stole the film. Just three months later, in June 1964, Inspector Clouseau returned and this time in the lead. A Shot In The Dark was brought forward for a summer release, to capitalise on the success of The Pink Panther. It would be released in the UK in January 1965. A Shot In The Dark was adapted for the screen from an original French play and changed almost beyond recognition, thanks to the combined talents of Blake Edwards and William Peter Blatty (who would later go on to pen The Exorcist). Maria Gambrelli, a maid employed in the service of the millionaire Benjamin Ballon, is accused of murdering chauffeur Miguel Ostos. Clouseau is assigned to the case and almost immediately is smitten by Maria. A series of subsequent murders occur and even Clouseau himself becomes a target. What we get is an almost perfect comedy film, with Sellers at the peak of his powers - just months away from his series of heart attacks in Hollywood - and crisp, tight direction by Edwards. The film also marks the first appearances of Herbert Lom as Clouseau's long-suffering boss, Commissioner Dreyfus, André Maranne as Dreyfus's assistant François and Burt Kwouk as Clouseau's devoted manservant Cato. So, as it is the 60th anniversary of ASITD's release what better excuse than to talk about it at length for Goon Pod? It's your host's favourite Peter Sellers film of all time and he spends what seems like the show's entirety giggling and chuckling so it falls on this week's guest - newly published novelist Adam Leslie - to inject a bit of professionalism to proceedings! In the last twenty-five years, ghost hunting has entered something of a golden age, with all sorts of technology playing its part and filling up an investigators kit bag. Cameras, EMF metres, InfraRed thermometers and spirit boxes all help to carve a science out of a difficult premise, with differing levels of credibility. In the early 1800s, things were a little bit different. It was a simpler time. All you needed back then was a stiff drink, or maybe two, and a loaded revolver, because as we all know, if you want to catch a ghost, you need to shoot it first. All well and good, provided the ghost you shoot isn't just a man in his work overalls. SOURCES Old Bailey Proceedings Online (1804) Trial of FRANCIS SMITH (t18040111-79). In 1963 a film was released which, had its original casting remained intact, would probably be barely remembered today - The Pink Panther, directed by Blake Edwards. With Peter Ustinov as a sure-footed and dependable French police inspector on the trail of a notorious jewel thief it would doubtless have made respectable money and garnered warm reviews but would hardly have spawned a slew of spin-offs - while in fact, the follow-up film, A Shot In The Dark, came out a mere three months after The Pink Panther opened in North American theatres. All this was due to the last-minute casting of Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau, following Ustinov's departure from the project. Between them, Sellers and Edwards totally revised the character of the inspector, making him much more comedic, and what emerged was one of the most beloved and memorable characters in cinema history. Although the film was a starring vehicle for David Niven as Sir Charles Lytton AKA The Phantom – described by Clouseau as “the surest, cleverest most ingenious criminal in all the world” - and very much in the style of one of those undemanding frothy sixties romps set in glamourous international locations, Sellers went into it a supporting actor and emerged as the standout star. This week one half of The Sitcom Club and Jaffa Cakes For Proust Gary Rodger joins Tyler to talk about The Pink Panther. Some questions arise: ... How did Clouseau rise to prominence in the French Sûreté? ... What motive did Mme Clouseau have for marrying him in the first place? ... Would the film have benefitted from 100% less Wagner? ... What was an original Pink Panther? ... Who might have had a hand in the famous car chase sequence? ... How did the Princess change ethnicity? ... Who are the audience meant to root for? ... How is this a sex comedy if nobody gets any? ... Just who WERE in those gorilla suits? ... Why was Michael Trubshawe in this film? ... And wasn't Colin Gordon marvellous? Plus much more! Mark Meadows has been indicted in a Georgia state RICO case for being part of a criminal enterprise to overturn the results of the presidential election in Georgia in 2020. Meadows filed a motion to have his prosecution transferred from Georgia state court to federal court, claiming he was acting within the scope of his official duties as Chief of Staff to the President of the United States. Glenn explains why Meadows' motion should be denied. He also discusses a recent case where a prosecution was successfully transferred from a state court to a federal court, and how that case is dramatically different from Meadows' case.
