Welcome to today's episode, where we dive into a topic that keeps so many people stuck in discomfort—gut health and the mindset that holds them back from true healing. If you're dealing with bloating, constipation, skin issues, Hashimoto's, brain fog, or even depression, you might feel like you've tried everything, yet nothing seems to work long-term. But here's the truth: real healing begins when you shift your approach and take consistent, natural steps forward. The Stuck Mindset:Many people approach gut health with a “quick fix” mentality—looking for a magic pill, restrictive diet, or short-term solution. But these only mask symptoms, leaving the root causes unaddressed. Healing the gut is a process. It's not about temporary relief; it's about long-term transformation.Think of it like changing your wardrobe. You wouldn't wear the same old sweater if it no longer fits, right? The same goes for your health habits—what got you here won't get you where you want to be. You need to put on a “new sweater,” one that supports healing and renewal. What Needs to Change:Your Relationship with Food: Food isn't just fuel—it's information for your body. The right choices can reduce inflammation, support digestion, and rebalance gut bacteria.Daily Habits: Small, consistent changes—like mindful eating, reducing stress, and improving sleep—have a big impact on gut health.Understanding Your Gut-Brain Connection: Your emotions, thoughts, and stress levels directly affect digestion and healing. A calm, balanced mind supports a healthy gut.The Path to Natural Healing:Instead of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or defeated, it's time to take empowered action. Healing your gut naturally means working with your body, not against it. It's a journey, and I'm here to guide you through each step.Closing Thoughts:If this resonates with you, and you're ready to move forward in a natural, sustainable way, stay tuned for more episodes. I'll be sharing practical tips, success stories, and science-backed strategies to help you heal from the inside out.Let's break free from old patterns and step into a healthier, happier life. Are you ready?

Discover the way ahead at Indiana Wesleyan University. Learn more here. In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to record an episode focused on marriage and what makes for a healthy marriage. But I wanted to do that by sharing some personal stories from my marriage that have taught me how to love better that I believe can help you too. These stories on not focused on things that I do for my husband but instead, things he does for me that have taught me how to love better. In the episode, I share how: 1. Verbal affirmations of love can not only strengthen your marriage but your kids' wellbeing too. 2. Focusing on mutual service changes the way partners feel about marriage 3. An apology can quickly change the course of a moment, day or period of time in marriage for the better! Mind Renewal Tip: The goal in marriage is not to get caught up in roles but instead to be focused on how you can mutually serve one another based on the needs in front of you. Scripture Renewal Tip: Serve one another humbly in love. Galatians 5:13–14

She is a mental health, trauma, and addiction therapist who owns her own private practice in Asheville. Lisa works with people to help change their relationship to self and their past through self compassion, self love and empowerment through changing their narrative to change their core beliefs. She is a Mom to an incredible teenager, a dedicated yogi, fierce advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, and loves most outdoor activities. In this episode, Lisa and I have a conversation about we can't change our past but we can change our relationship to it. First we have to accept our past in order to change our relationship to it. It takes healing and everybody's journey looks different. We can't change people in our lives but we can change how we relate to them. We can show up for who we are now and how we want to show up and not be tied to who we were when we once related to them. Like it or not, 2024 is almost over, and Indieventure is closing out the year with a trilogy of episodes looking back on our recent experiences of the games industry. We're saving the more targeted analysis of the year in games and of course our big GOTY reveal for the two episodes due out in December, but today we're starting out with a more general question: how has working in games media impacted our experiences of gaming as a hobby? What starts out as a light-hearted "day in the life of a games journalist" chat quickly turns into a group therapy session where we go into a fairly serious examination of the realities of working in games media in the 2020s, both good and bad. This is less a chat about specific games and more an overview of games media trends both visible and invisible to the audience, so if you've ever wanted to hear some inside baseball delivered from the Indieventure trio's perspective, here's your chance. We promise the mood gets lighter over the rest of the holiday season episodes, but we're glad we got all this off our chests! This episode also includes our final pre-GOTY "what we've been playing" round-up, in which Rachel gives a spoiler-free overview of Rise of the Golden Idol; Rebecca catches up on the long-awaited full release of Phoenix Springs; and despite spending much of the past month on another continent, Liam has somehow put another 10 hours into Factorio following the launch of the Space Age expansion. Last but not least, our hyperfixations for this episode see Liam geeking out over the Half-Life 2: 20th Anniversary Documentary, Rebecca enjoying "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by TJ Klune (the sequel to a Season Zero hyperfixation, "The House in the Cerulean Sea"), and Rachel discovering an amazing TV channel called Mech+ which appears to only show reruns of Robot Wars and it turns out we're all very here for that. Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic. Meanwhile, you can find us at indieventurepodcast.co.uk or wherever you listen to podcasts, and don't forget that you can now join our dedicated Discord too!

Illuminate Podcast: Shining Light on the Darkness of Pornography
When we think of dishonesty in relationships, we often immediately think of the big, life-changing moments such as betrayal. But even very small instances of dishonesty, seemingly harmless, can accumulate and eventually harm the relationship. In this episode we discuss how not being completely truthful about our needs and wants can lead to a lack of connection and misunderstanding. When we are able to openly communicate about even the smallest issues, we build trust and connection. We encourage you to identify and address areas in your own relationships where greater honesty could improve connection and satisfaction. Vivian Tu wants to change our relationship with finances forever, and her story is incredible. Vivian is a first-generation Asian American, who grafted her way to Wall Street, facing misogyny and racism on her way. She spent years on the trading floors, making the kind of money she always dreamed of, in an environment where she was one of only two women on her team. When she left finance & moved into a strategy role, she noticed she was always the go-to person for money-making questions, tax returns, investing, pensions. Becoming increasingly worried by the amount of dodgy information regarding finance online, she started making her own educational content under the handle ‘Your Rich BFF'. Now, she has over 6 million followers and a best-selling book to her name. She says her aim is to teach everyone the “lessons that rich dads have been teaching their rich sons on the golf course." Kyle Wester joins us to unpack the science of your kid's brain—from birth to adulthood. You'll discover how connection shapes their emotional development and why sincere apologies pave the way for deeper intimacy in your relationship. Key Takeaways Your anger says more about you than your kids. The brain has three key developmental stages: brainstem, limbic system, and prefrontal cortex. To move out of the limbic system, you need connection. Have high expectations while offering high support. Emotion-focused parenting is an inside-out model that reflects what God does with us. Kyle Wester Kyle Wester is a licensed professional counselor and Parenting Coach who has been working with children for over 20 years. Kyle and his wife, Sarah, are founders of Parenting Legacy and host The Art of Raising Humans podcast. They have been married for 22 years and have three children. Key Quotes 6:28 - "Success for us, when I look at my kids and I know that we are doing it well, that we are succeeding as parents, is when I see the fruit of the spirit easily pouring out of their daily life. What's neat is when you tie that in to the brain science, all of us as human beings, when we are at our best and we are really able to show up, be seen, bring more light to a dark place, it's when we're in the prefrontal cortex. And what's interesting about the prefrontal cortex is I can only get there when I feel safe and loved." 9:31 - "I have super high expectations on my kids. I really believe that every place they are is going to be better because they are there. And if for some reason that isn't happening and I'm noticing that, then me and my wife are wondering what is the supports my kid needed in that moment to be able to really shine the way God intended them to in that moment?" 26:02 - "This shows us how God has wired us and why the Christian disciplines are so effective, is because when we pray, when we meditate, when we worship, when we do these exercises that have been known throughout church history to be healthy and effective for us, we're answering these questions. We're connecting to somebody outside of us, who's whispering to us, you are safe. You are loved. And then once you get to the prefrontal cortex, the question is, what can I learn? You're basically saying, how can we do this together? How can we change this situation? I just picture God coming with an open hand and us coming with a closed hand, and He stays calm with us. He comforts us until our hand opens up. And then our hands can come together and we can really solve that problem together." This one is special. Not just because it's on the ever-popular topic of nutrition, but it's with my niece Brooke Scheller. And little did I know that when I brought Brooke out to San Diego for a “21-Day Transformation Program” (when she was just 18-years old) to help her “find her way,” that it would eventually lead her to get a doctorate in nutrition. And now, she just launched her first book, HOW TO EAT TO CHANGE HOW YOU DRINK. Yes, as a recovering alcoholic, Brooke has turned her “Demons into Dreams” and she's now positively IMPACTING thousands of people on both social media, her new book, and now the TD IMPACT SHOW. You gotta listen to this one… On today's IMPACT SHOW, we discuss: Brooke's back story and growing-up in Brick, NJ. The IMPACT of the “21-Day Transformation Program” after Brooke graduated high-school and how that program eventually led her to FAX in her college application. ☺ Brooke shares her career as a nutritionist and how she balanced a career and life of someone in wellness, while still battling with alcohol. Why has she felt inspired to speak openly about sobriety (rather than remaining “anonymous”)? Why did she write this book? In the book, one of her dedications in the book was to her younger self. Why? Brooke's 2-3 of her favorite parts of the book and Todd shares his favorite parts. Brooke shares and explains her “archetypes” of drinking. Brooke shares what she hopes this book will bring to the world? What's next for Brooke Scheller? I am so proud of Brooke and loved recording this episode literally from Times Square NYC. I think you are going to love this SHOW also. Please be sure to listen, post a pic on your social media, and then pass on the episode to your community.
