Hello listener, It's been awhile; I so appreciate your patience. I miss making episodes & I have many deep-dives in store for you. It's always been my dream to make The Dark Divide my full time focus. If you'd like to be a part of gifting me more time to create, please consider joining the patreon! There's exclusive episodes over there & it's a great way to support the show. A lot of blood, sweat and (usually literal) tears go into each story, on top of massive amounts of time. I do all of the research, writing, narrating & audio engineering. Since episodes are ad-free, everything is 100% funded by me. So, your support gives me creative freedom to bring you more quality content much faster!    As an appetizer of sorts, today I'm bringing you a snippet of the story about 22-year-old Mackenzie Lee Trottier, who was last seen in December 2020, just days before Christmas --a holiday she never would've missed spending with her family. As with so many missing persons cases, someone definitely knows something. Every day that passes, is a day lost to an ocean of time. Authorities have theories - but which road will lead to Mackenzie?   Listen to the full now episode on Patreon.   Thank you so much for every listen, every share, every review and of course, for staring into the abyss with me.

But after hours of interrogation and piecing together her last day, authorities would discover that the biggest danger to Melinda's family wasn't lurking in wait from the outside. With no signs of forced entry, authorities suspected that Melinda's killer had been living right in her own home.   Support the show & get bonus episodes on Patreon    _______________________________________ All music is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution. For over two decades, friends and family of Sherri would hold steadfast to the belief that there was something much more sinister to be found than a robbery. Both the US and Canada would be shaken by the senseless murder of Andrew Bagby in 2001. We like to believe that cases with evidence as straight-forward and clear cut as this begin and end simply in the legal system with the necessary consequences delivered to the perpetrator. However, this case is one of the most convoluted and confusing, covered with injustice and senseless tragedy. It would remain in headlines for nearly a decade, sparking challenge and change for not only the lives involved, but also the legal system itself. It's a remarkable story of how we cannot control what happens to us, but we can choose to decide how it will shape us, finding a purpose for our pain and creating our own hope in the darkest hours.   Support the show & get bonus episodes on Patreon  _______________________________________  All music is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution. On June 8th, 1989 the body of Cindy James was discovered in Richmond, BC. She was laying on her side, with her ankles and wrists fastened behind her & had a nylon stocking tied tightly around her neck. The cause of death however, would be overdose. Almost immediately, news networks would be sharing details of a nearly decade-long horror story of a woman, hunted down and scared for her life. By the time Cindy James went missing, she had reported over 100 incidents of stalking, harassment and assaults from an unknown assailant. But by July 12th the RCMP would officially rule out any foul play leaving the public to wonder how could a person do something to themselves like that and why would they? The investigation of her death would lead to one the longest and most expensive inquests in British Columbia's history. It would be ruled inconclusive, with her family believing she was killed and the police believing it was an elaborately staged suicide. While the cause of her death would remain inconclusive, one thing remained certain: nobody agreed that ruling made any sense. And we're still left wondering, to this day: If it was impossible that she did this to herself, then who murdered Cindy James?   Support the show & get bonus episodes on Patreon  _______________________________________ All music is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution.
