Is it just us, or are the Pride month vibes a little off this year? Between targeted censorship, legislative attacks on LGBTQ+ health care, and a financial pullout from many corporations, queer people and their allies are celebrating with heavier hearts this year. But perhaps it's a moment to reconsider what "pride" is really for? This week, Brittany is joined by culture journalist Tre'vell Anderson, and author and organizer Raquel Willis to parse through the contradictions of Pride 2025.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
Ocean recovery is not just possible, it's already happening in places where we've taken action. In this episode, I dive into Ocean with David Attenborough, a documentary that reminds us of the ocean's incredible resilience. From thriving coral reefs to fish populations bouncing back, the film offers powerful proof that when we give marine ecosystems space and protection, they can heal faster than we think. It's a rare example of ocean storytelling that balances urgency with genuine optimism. Bottom trawling, however, threatens that progress. The documentary pulls back the curtain on this destructive fishing method, revealing how vast swaths of ocean floor are scraped clean, alongside the fish, sharks, and invertebrates that live there. The fishing industry's backlash has been swift, but the film doesn't dwell on blame. Instead, it shows us that even in damaged habitats, life can return when given the chance. The hope is real—but only if we act now. Follow a career in conservation: https://www.conservation-careers.com/online-training/ Use the code SUFB to get 33% off courses and the careers program. Send us a textIn this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, Dr. Mark Amols explores one of the most common emotional pitfalls in IVF: the heartbreak of a failed transfer using your top-graded embryo. Using a relatable medical school analogy, he explains why even “average” embryos can still lead to pregnancy—and why the term “best” isn't a guarantee of success. Learn how embryo grading works, what research says about implantation rates with AA vs. BB embryos, and how uterine factors, thaw survival, and plain old chance can affect outcomes. If you've ever felt hopeless after a failed transfer, this episode will help you reframe your expectations and rediscover your hope. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of 'Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday' with Dr. Mark Amols. Beyond Pierre lineman Grey Zabel, a North Dakota State Hall-of-Famer-to-be, it appears there may not be a South Dakotan (native, high school alumnus or local college player) drafted. But history tells us that doesn't mean there aren't several that could make an impact on NFL teams. It appears J.J. McCarthty will "hit the ground running" as Vikings QB1, according to Kevin O'Connell. But KOC also continues to lead Zim and John to believe the Vikes still may have Aaron Rodgers on their radar, which they should. Exhausted by NIL/portal transfer talk? So are we. So we keep it to a couple of recent nuggets. Finally, Augustana deserves a standing ovation for the forthcoming renovation of the Elmen Center to make it the on-campus hoops home -- at long last and full circle. And, we have two Dead Guys of the Week — one, we learned during taping of the show.
Sometimes we need more belief. Belief in where we've been, belief in where we're going. This is true for Sarah Harbut. Her story is one of victory and one she decided to share with the world because there was always hope and hope was worth pursuing, worth hanging onto. Sarah wrote Less Fear More Fire because she wanted to make sense of what she was feeling and thinking as her family experienced domestic abuse and how they climbed out of it to a happier ending. Israel unilaterally ended the ceasefire in Gaza, with bombs raining down on the strip this week, killing more than 400 people within hours. Many children were reportedly among the dead. By Wednesday, Israeli troops resumed ground operations to retake control of a key corridor that divides northern Gaza from the south. Palestinians in the enclave were once again plunged into a bleak reality dominated by fear, death and displacement. They had hoped that their brief respite would become permanent, as mediators tried to advance a truce agreement and hostage deal into its next phase. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes were only the start and future negotiations with Hamas “will take place only under fire”. The US said it had been consulted of Israel's intention to attack. The question is, why has the war started again. Will it ever end? In this episode of Beyond the Headlines, host Nada AlTaher hears from Unicef's Rosalia Bollen about the impact on Palestinians in Gaza. She also speaks to Taghreed El-Khodary, a Palestinian analyst, and Brian Katulis, senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, about Hamas's next moves, Israel's motives for resuming the war and where the US stands.

Plans by World Energy GH2 to produce hydrogen in the Stephenville area are on hold. A statement from the company last week said, "The green ammonia market is not maturing at the rate expected." The company also says the market will dictate the timeline for its proposed project. That leaves the business community hoping that the company will continue with their plans for wind turbines, with other industries benefitting from the power. Debbie Brake-Patten is president of the Bay St. George Chamber of Commerce. She and Stephenville Mayor Tom Rose spoke with Radio-Canada's Patrick Butler.

Jerry and Willie are here for New Year's Eve and Jerry says his head is about to explode over all of the conversation surrounding the Giants winning a game and hurting their draft position. The Giants can still move back up in the draft order this weekend. Willie says some teams are clearly ready for the season to end. Even with Deshaun Watson's reworked contract, Willie would be surprised if the Browns don't draft a QB if they finish with a top pick. Will Deion play a role in where his son winds up? Will Bill Belichick leave UNC before coaching a game to take an NFL job? CLo is here for his first update of the day and begins with the Lions win over the 49ers. Willie enjoyed the game and says the Lions offense is a lineman's dream. Brian Daboll does not want to revisit the Giants decision to let Saquon Barkley walk. Jeff Ulbrich said he saw no quit in Jets players and that Haason Reddick, who held out for months, is one of the most unselfish players he's been around. The Knicks had a much easier time beating the Wizards on Monday than they did on Saturday. Josh Hart had a triple-double. It's much easier to see the Knicks in Washington than at home. The Rangers lost again. Jerry says this can't be Sam Rosen's last year. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry says that Woody Johnson's handling of the Haason Reddick situation stands out to him on the heels of Jeff Ulbrich's eyebrow-raising comment Monday. Willie says this job was just too much for Ulbrich to handle. Willie and Jerry agree that the Jets need to hire someone who will excite the fanbase.

Welcome back to the first official episode since I stepped away to bring a little human into this world! It's been a beautiful 6 months–-filled with cuddles and diaper changes while figuring out my new normal. In the last 3 months, I co-hosted a dinner at UTA to celebrate 5 years of the podcast, stepped back on set for the first time since becoming a mom, and took a solo trip to NYC for the world premiere of documentary "THE HONORABLE SHYNE" for Hulu. Suffice it to say...I don't know how to sit still. Which bring me to today's episode with the impressive and revered indie producer Ted Hope, who has produced over 70 films! He's also been a studio executive on over 60 films, CEO of a start-up streamer, co-head of 3 production companies, executive director of a film society & festival, a Professor Of Practice at 2 universities, and founder of a post-production facility, 2 websites, 2 think tanks, and an app. And you think I do too much! He also launched Amazon's foray into feature film production, leading them to 19 Oscar nominations and 5 wins. As a producer, his films have received 25 Oscar nominations, with 6 wins. During our chat, we dive into the failures of the current industry model, pinpoint what missteps may have led us to this period of stagnation, and ponder a question close to Ted's heart: is there still Hope for Film?

So, his mother asked him to come back to Nigeria and to visit her in Lagos Island - where she had some of the pirated copies. Then she said to him: “Do you remember when you were lifeless, and nobody thought you were coming back to us and I stayed with you and I nursed you and you came back and you lived? If you could survive that, you would survive this.” He learnt that life can be breathed into any situation. Exclusive Patron-only Content Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
