Long-time player, game designer, and game commentator, Jeremiah McCoy joins Dr. C's office hours to talk with us about how aspects of our culture find themselves in TTTRPGs, and how aspects of TTTRPGs end up influencing much of our Pop Media.
In this week's show we are honored to have again our expert on scientific knowledge and inquiry, Brian Dunning. The host of “Skeptoid: Critical Analysis of Pop Media” he shares about how conspiracy shows are supporting flawed thinking for people who already have preconceived notions about some topics. We discuss Alex Jones' influence as many similar conspiracy theorists and “entertainers” have sprung up all over the AM radio. One of these programs is “Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis” who in their February 6, 2019 show discussed racist and destructive ideas such as the so called invasion of Muslims and Chinese from Canada and the coming race war pushed by supremacists. We also discuss Mr. Dunning's confrontation with Joe Rogan after writing a report on how Rogan was part of the "Then Most Wanted: Celebrities who Promote Harmful Pseudoscience" and how these shows will say anything to get ratings being irresponsible and sensationalistic.Brian Dunning is an American writer and producer who focuses on science and skepticism. He has hosted a weekly podcast, Skeptoid since 2006, and he is an author of a series of books on the subject of scientific skepticism, some which are based on the podcast.https://skeptoid.com/episodes/4125
A short bonus episode on my commentary of the brilliant, timely and disturbingly accurate movie Don't Look Up starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio. If you replace the apocalyptic disaster scenario in the movie, with any number of possible alternatives, (man-made or otherwise), but you keep the perfect-storm of compounding dysfunctional anti-synergy of terribly incentivised Science, Journalism, Pop-journalism, Social Media, Pop-Media, Politics and Capitalism amplified by an apathetic ignorant population; you have yourself a prescient documentary of how our civilisation will end. This movie is a showcase, like a documentary almost of how our civilization will end. It is no longer a question of if, it is now a matter of when. There is not a single issue people can agree on, and everything they disagree about can be further influenced by misinformation, people's lack of critical thinking and general ignorance on how to read and process information, in order to arrive at facts.
Welcome Back to a longer-than-usual episode! Today I'm discussing comics in pop culture, including WandaVision ep.5, the Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer, Spider-Man 3 rumors, and a couple of current shows based off "indie" comics. Then, bringing it back around to actual comic books, I talk about the comic releases I'm most excited for this week, including Marvel, indie, and DC Future State titles, and spotlighting a few key moments of representation in the industry. Wrap it all up with a note on Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey and the new Heroes Reborn launch at Marvel! Let me know what your thoughts are, and hope to see you back for the next episode, FRIDAY Feb. 12th!

In this week’s show we continue our conversation with Brian Dunning. The host of “Skeptoid: Critical Analysis of Pop Media” he shares about how conspiracy shows are supporting flawed thinking for people who already have preconceived notions about some topics. We call this episode “The Alex Jones Factor” as many similar conspiracy theorists and “entertainers” have sprung up all over the AM radio. One of these programs is “Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis” who in their February 6, 2019 show discussed racist and destructive ideas such as the so called invasion of Muslims and Chinese from Canada and the coming race war pushed by supremacists. GPUs have a large application in Media and Entertainment workloads. From backend video processing and creation workloads such as VFX/Rendering, transcoding and broadcast playout to high-end creatives as well as video editing workloads. Backed by the NVIDIA Tesla M60 GPUs, G3 instances offer unparalleled power and flexibility to do complex modeling, 3D visualization, computer aided design, seismic visualization, video encoding. G3 instances are the first Amazon EC2 instances to support NVIDIA GRID Virtual Workstation capabilities, with streaming support for four monitors each with up to 4K resolution, and hardware encoding to support up to 10 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) H.265 1080p30 streams or up to 18 H.264 1080p30 streams per GPU for faster video frame processing and improved image fidelity. In this session we will highlight two criticial Media workloads Video Editing via remote application streaming and Broadcast Playout origination from the AWS cloud. We will have Pop Media discuss their remote video editing in the cloud that enables secure remote, real-time editorial and image processing session views. This will be followed by Evertz regarding Discovery Channel's broadcast Playout application for several live Discovery channels currently.
The title says it all. There is a lot of worthwhile information here, including a reading of President Oabama's own words from Jan of 2009 as he obfuscated and lied by omission on the question of whether he would continue "rendition" treatment of "enemy combatants" as the feds unconstitutionally call those US forces and allies capture in the undeclared "war" that is really an illegal series of military operations. Gardner Goldsmith goes back to the early days of the O admin and shows how the pop media is covering for him. Music includes: "Should God Forget", and "Entertain Me" by the Psychedelic Furs, as well as the full cut of "Beat My Guest", by Adam and the Ants (an appropriate song when talking about torture)... Welcome back to the Conspiracy! In this production El G Grande doffs his cap to the mighty Stephen M. Smith, whose excellent blogs at the former Beginner's Guide to Freedom site were remarkable for their clarity and insight. Stephen's been a great friend to the Conspiracy, and this time, he and Gard talk about what seems to be a growing trend: Pop Media attacks on libertarians and libertarianism itself. You might have noticed the same. In fact, your own stories to contribute! We hope you enjoy this show. Many, MANY thanks to Stephen for his time and ideas! Good stuff, Stephen! Music is this pod is brief, including The Cynics "Turn Me Loose" and The Psychedelic Furs "Only You and I". Visit us at www.LibertyConspiracy.com We'd enjoy hearing your thoughts! Be Seeing You!
We return like a giant reptilian monster to wreak vengeance on the statists who would attack our innocent neighbors! Welcome back to Liberty Conspiracy Audios! In this program, we offer you the third in our series of shows about the right to keep and bear arms, and those who set out to attack peaceful people and curtail that right. This time we get to look at the double-standard of pop media figures who strive for the elimination of the Second Amendment (and won't bother to try to amend the Constitution to do it), and we talk about how Wayne laPierre, of the NRA, and his sad but expected collapse on the right to keep and bear arms, and we'll note that there is something wrong with a judicial system that will release criminals into the public but still not trust them with firearms. The Second Amendment doesn't say that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, unless you're a felon who has done his time. If the state doesn't think you're safe enough to be in public with a firearm (and if you're inclined to do more crimes when you get out, you will likely get a firearm regardless of the law), then why is the state releasing you? You're clearly not safe to be in public anyway. That and music by the Blue Oyster Cult "Godzilla"!, The Edgar Winter Group "Frankenstein", The Damned "Thrill Kill", and Grinderman "Bellringer Blues" visit us at www.libertyconspiracy.com! Be Seeing You!
Welcome, ye fighter for freedom! We hope you like this news update, in which the Liberty Conspiracy looks at the obvious and seemingly intentional disregard for libertarian Ron Paul's strong showing in Iowa and his strong backing elsewhere. Gard studies it, in conjunction to notations on our website at libertyconspiracy.com -- ALSO! Take a listen to one of the stories that has gone overlooked by the poppies! It's all about pseudo-economist Paul Krugman and his desire for an attack or threat of an attack by space aliens as a way to 'stimulate the economy'. Gardner Goldsmith looks at his statement in two parts and serves up a devastating rebuttal to Krugman's fallacious thinking that gubment spending (even on things like warfare) somehow creates prosperity. Just to give you a hint, Gard teams up with 19th century economist Frederic Bastiat! With music from THE PRODIGY! Be Seeing You!
Join us and spread the word that there's a podcast out here where the people behind it actually TALK about ECONOMICS. While you're at it, you might want to mention that to the POP MEDIA who seem more interested in scare-mongering and ignorance. In this program, Gardner Goldsmith selects a tiny, super-brief quote from one of the debaters at the recent 2011 GOP presidential debate to highlight a fundamental lesson most politicians haven't learned about economics. It's all about the so-called "trade deficit", and why that term is erroneous and misleading. Gard explains that the popular myth of the "trade deficit" is just that, a myth, and it is not bad to be buying more of the products made in a foreign nation. Listen and you'll see what we mean! Be Seeing you!
