We've never fully delved into the artistic stylings of Rob Liefeld, but it's finally time to take the plunge. We look at his work on relaunching Captain America during Marvel's Heroes Reborn event in the 90s along with Jeph Loeb, and we find plenty of... interesting art choices to discuss. We read the first 5-issue storyline as well as a 6th issue that perplexed us. Then we move onto Thunderbolts #16 which brings up a new mystery! Next Time: Celebrate the podcast's 10th anniversary with Top 10 #6-12!

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite Fictional Universes Marvel Studios had a strong showing during last week's Cinema Con in Las Vegas, where Kevin Feige dropped bombs and F-bombs while unveiling footage from Deadpool & Wolverine and Captain America: Brave New World. The look at Deadpool featured 9 minutes of spoiler-free material introduced by director Shawn Levy, which was preceded by a comedic clip with the title characters in costume bemoaning cell phone use in the theater. Meanwhile, the Cap 4 scene included an interaction between Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross, with Isiah Bradley factoring into a confrontation. Paramount also made several major announcements during its Cinema Con panel; officially confirming the Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover film is in development and will be produced by Steven Spielberg. An R-rated, live action feature film adaptation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin storyline was also announced, as was a new Star Trek origin film that will act as a prequel to the 2009 movie, slated for a 2025 release. Perhaps most importantly, the studio debuted the trailer for Gladiator 2, starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington. We received our first indication of a title change for Thunderbolts when we caught a glimpse of the logo during Florence Pugh's set tour a couple of weeks ago. Kevin Fiege confirmed the title change while remaining cagey during his appearance at Cinema Con saying, “Yes, you'll notice the asterisk on Thunderbolts. That is the official title of Thunderbolts and we won't talk more about that until after the movie comes out.” James Gunn revealed the official insignia for his DCU version of Superman during Cinema Con. The emblem features a clean and simplistic design that is reminiscent of the logo from the Kingdom Come comic line. Deadpool and Wolverine are joining the viral popcorn bucket craze. While promoting the film at Cinema Con, Kevin Fiege confirmed an intentionally crude and rude bucket was being designed by Deadpool himself. Lionsgate shifted The Crow release to August 23 from its initial June 7 date and postponed Saw XI by a year, now set for September 26, 2025 Hailee Steinfeld joined the cast of Ryan Coolger's untitled horror thriller film and will star alongside Michael B. Jordan. StarWars.com announced a new comic miniseries starting July 3 called Star Wars: Inquisitors. Lionsgate announced that Blumhouse will revive The Blair Witch Project. It's currently unclear if the film will connect to the original 1999 film or reimagine the concept. Margot Robbie's production company Lucky Chap will produce a film based on the board game Monopoly. Nia DaCosta, director of The Marvels and Candyman, is in discussions to direct the second film in Sony's 28 Days Later sequel trilogy, with Danny Boyle returning to helm the first sequel from writer Alex Garland. Tim Kring, the creator of the superhero drama series Heroes, is pitching a sequel titled Heroes: Eclipsed to potential buyers. The original series aired for four seasons on NBC and was followed by a limited series titled Heroes Reborn in 2015. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been renewed for Season Two at Apple TV+. In addition, Apple struck a deal with Legendary Entertainment to develop multiple spinoff series set in the Monsterverse. Star Wars author John Jackson Miller is penning Batman: Resurrection, a continuation of Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film, set immediately after its events, in contrast to the Batman '89 comics, which occur after both Burton films. Glen Powell, star of Anyone But You, Twisters, and Top Gun: Maverick will star in Paramount's The Running Man, a new adaptation of the Stephen King novel that Edgar Wright will direct.
In an exhilarating development for fans of groundbreaking television, "Heroes" is set to make a monumental return with "Heroes: Eclipsed," breathing new life into the iconic 2006 superhero drama series. Sources close to Deadline have revealed that the project, crafted by original creator Tim Kring, is currently being shopped around to potential buyers in a timely nod to the solar eclipse week—a celestial event that played a pivotal role in the original series, both thematically and visually. "Heroes: Eclipsed" promises a forward leap into the future, picking up years after the events of the original series. This new chapter will introduce audiences to the next generation of evos—ordinary individuals awakening to extraordinary abilities. As these new characters grapple with the implications of their powers, they find themselves pitted against familiar foes and daunting new threats, all while navigating the treacherous path of human evolution. The announcement of "Heroes: Eclipsed" rekindles memories of the 2015 limited series "Heroes Reborn," which similarly explored the lives of new evos while bringing back beloved characters from the original series, such as Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), Dr. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), and Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg). This connection suggests a rich tapestry of storylines that honor the legacy of the "Heroes" universe while charting exciting new territory. "Heroes" originally captured the imagination of viewers worldwide with its unique blend of action, drama, and the exploration of human potential, symbolized by the iconic mantra, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Despite the mixed reception of "Heroes Reborn," the franchise's enduring appeal and the original series' Emmy-nominated success underscore the significant cultural impact of "Heroes." The visionary behind this resurgence, Tim Kring, is at the helm as the executive producer, alongside Jordan Cerf of Mosaic. With Universal Television backing the project, the anticipation for "Heroes: Eclipsed" is palpable, although official comments from Universal TV are still pending. As "Heroes: Eclipsed" seeks a home, potentially returning to NBC or finding a new platform among streamers, fans old and new can only wait in eager anticipation for the return of a series that once redefined the superhero genre on television. With a legacy of innovation and storytelling that captures the essence of heroism in the modern age, "Heroes: Eclipsed" stands poised to usher in a new era for the franchise.

It's a brave new world for the Thunderbolts, as they try to readjust to civilian life... or, in the case of some, to adjust to being bossed around by Captain America as part of the Redeemers. Paul and Al say hello to new regular penciler Patrick Zircher, as well as to the continuity transplants from the Heroes Reborn universe, as they look at issues 51 and 52 of Thunderbolts, as well as the Thunderbolts: Life Sentences oneshot. Join them as they explore the questions of who is the 19th best telepath in the Marvel Universe, where can you find the most racist electrical goods store in America, and how badly a 1990s comics character can lacerate himself with his own costume.

Have you been waiting for an episode where our guest gets their sanity destroyed in real time? Then this is the episode for you! Josh and Leia finally catch up to Rob Liefeld and the era of big pecs and tiny feet rises! Listen as they turn special guest Jesse Letourneau's mind to mush and then afterwards deconstruct this series' effects on the MCU!
Episode 5's guest is actor, comedian, writer and podcaster Henry Zebrowski. Henry Zebrowski is a force of nature - well known for his work on the Adult Swim series Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell, the NBC series Heroes Reborn, and his extremely popular show The Last Podcast on the Left, co-hosted by Marcus Parks, which explores serial killers, cults, aliens, conspiracy theories, the supernatural and the occult. Welcome to SCREAM DREAMS - The Nightmares That Shaped Us! SCREAM DREAMS is the show that delves into our most vivid dreams and nightmares, and how they affect our lives and work. Show hosts are Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier, Return to Nuke 'Em High), James A Janisse (Kill Count, Dead Meat Podcast) and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, Suitable Flesh). In this comedy-centric episode, there are also some real nuggets of wisdom. Christmas is almost here, and Henry is bringing the holiday cheer as only he can! He tells us the lengths he will go to in order to become a convincing Santa for today's jaded kids. Henry talks about his intense dreams, how they may be affected by the true crimes he studies, and how the depravities of real human behavior are scarier than any horror movie. He discusses how his favorite shows relax him - but also watching police interrogation videos! And we delve into his nightmares - being accused of murder, and escaping a hostage situation. We discuss women killers, how poisoning is often a method of choice for them, and how premeditated that method can be. Also, just why did Catherine want to keep a deadly poison around in her apartment? We talk about how dogs are in charge of us, the perils of having security cameras in the house (who might be watching them?), the cult of Scientology and how it is a little like ann acting class. Plus, Halloween Haunts, butt-holes and the no-touching rule. James confesses his love of the Hell House movies, but what makes a really good Haunt and which are the best? In this week's Side Barb, we ask – how do you know who might be really dangerous? Barbara has some very practical advice, with a story about a defusing a tense situation when an upset ex-boyfriend turned up at her door. And finally, in our game, Henry has to escape from a bad dream, but our hosts are there to stop him! We really welcome your Feedback - please let us know what you think of the show so far in the comments, suggest any fun nightmare games we might play, as well as future guests you'd like to see on the show! Created by Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-winner Kurt Smeaton ("Schitt's Creek"), CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING is a half hour comedy that follows Astrid (Meaghan Rath, "Being Human," "Hawaii Five-0") and James (Aaron Abrams, "Blindspot," "Hannibal"), as they raise their two young children in the city, while struggling to hold onto their pre-kid life. Illustrating the hilarious and varied ways kids can wreck happiness, alter plans, annihilate goals and dreams, and force parents to re-invent their lives, the series also explores how maybe that re-invented life is somewhat okay, too. Nowhere near as good as that old, really great life. But still kind of nice. The series also stars Ennis Esmer ("Blindspot," "Schitt's Creek"), Nazneen Contractor ("Ransom," "Heroes Reborn"), Logan Nicholson ("Blues Clues and You"), Mikayla SwamiNathan, Dmitry Chepovetsky ("Killjoys," "Departure"), Veena Sood ("Corner Gas Animated," "The Indian Detective"), Lisa Codrington ("Letterkenny," "Anne With an E"), and Darius Rota. We celebrate the era that gave us The Death Of Superman! Image Comics! Age Of Apocalypse! X-Force! Valiant! Gen X! Bane! Heroes Reborn! Rob put out the call to the listeners and you responded and today we share your enthusiasm! We love the 90's!
At a time in the mid-1990s when the Avengers franchise struggled for attention against the industry-defining X-Men and Image titles, Mark Waid and Ron Garney somehow pulled off one of the most celebrated Captain America runs of all time…until it was cut short to make way for Rob Liefeld's “Heroes Reborn” revamp. We look at this creative team's opening arc, “Operation Rebirth,” which used propulsive, slam-bang action plotting to try to maintain Cap's relevance in the grim ‘n' gritty ‘90s and reinvent a long-lost supporting character along the way. We'll also touch on Waid's broader superhero-writing career and why there's more to his work than simple Silver Age nostalgia.
