Los caravaqueños Octubre publican ern YouTube sus canciones básicas para entender sus últimas composiciones, de categoría pop supremo, incluyendo el recuerdo a los Brincos en Como George Darling. Vancouver based singer-songwriter Reid Jamieson has just released what may be the album of his career, "Me Daza". Recorded in Ireland, with Kieran Kennedy, 'me daza' is actually Cork Ireland slang for 'most excellent' or 'awesome', which this album most definitely is. Reid Jamieson and the other half of this music and life partnership, Carolyn Victoria Mill, join us on Episode 443 of Folk Roots Radio to chat about the making of the new album and upcoming tour dates. It's a great interview - you won't want to miss it. We also check out new music from Lydia Persaud, Michelle Rumball, Gillian Nicola, Sumaia Jackson and Richard Garvey. Check out the full playlist on the website:
Vancouver based singer-songwriter Reid Jamieson has just released his latest album "Me Daza". 'Me Daza' is actually Cork Ireland slang for 'most excellent' or 'awesome', though strictly speaking it actually means 'I'm dying'. Dying because of brilliance, perhaps - because this recording really does feel like a special piece of work, and may be the best thing Reid Jamieson has done in his career so far. Recorded in Ireland with producer Kieran Kennedy, the new recording features eight fabulous new songs, all written with music and life partner Carolyn Victoria Mill alongside a great cover "Don’t Go Down", written by the late lamented Fergus O’Farrell with Glen Hansard. We caught up with Reid Jamieson and Carolyn Victoria Mill at home in Vancouver to learn more about the new album. Music: Reid Jamieson "Evergreen (Love Song For The Crone)", "Perfect Storm", "Don’t Go Down", "She (#repealthe8th)" and "Lullaby For The Lost" from "Me Daza" (2019, Self) Reid Jamieson and Carolyn Victoria Mill will be on tour in Ontario in early May with shows in Dundas (Shawn & Ed Brewing Co, May 2), Guelph (eBar, May 3) and Toronto (Rivoli, May 5). For more information and full tour dates, visit http://reidjamieson.com.

Even though it doesn’t feel like it outside, it’s sounding a lot like spring as many of our favourites are delivering new albums already, so today we heard a whole heap of exciting new releases, as well as some requests and dedications.

One of our favourite bands, Sunparlour Players, released a new record this week, and it’s a gem. That led us off into previewing some other great roots rockin’ bands who return to town soon. We’ve got a few classics and a birthday song to end off the show.

You’ve got to be careful to avoid whiplash on today’s show, because we’re looking back & forth all over the place. We look back at last night’s amazing Sunset Saloon show, Jack Marks in Winnipeg, as well as the amazing work of “The Big Man” Clarence Clemons. We’ve got great new music, some that’s out already (back) and some that’s coming out soon (forth). And, it’s Jazzfest in Winnipeg, and there’s plenty of us non-jazz lovers to enjoy.

I’ve never been afraid to go far and wide to check out a good show, but this weekend just might be the craziest yet. Since we’re off on that crazy adventure, this show is pre-taped, but we’ll hear some tunes from the guys we’re headed to see, and some traveling/driving/road songs to keep us rolling. This week brings us some great new tunes, so we dive into some of those. And, next weekend, one of Canada’s finest female singer/songwriters, Sarah Harmer, returns to town, so we hear a bunch of her great solo work and her work backing up others.

Several cuts tonight from the wonderful new Robert Plant CD, and a stellar live session with Reid Jamieson. Hear his duet with fiancee Carolyn Mill of "Young Love". So sweet! For those in the Vancouver area, do check out his CD release show Sept. 18 at St. James Hall. Enjoy these last days of summer all and take good care!cheers, valfolkoasis@gmail.com
5 days of Winter Olympics madness thus far and the city is still standing, lo and behold. Tonight our little Folkalympiad featured the stylings of Reid Jamieson. Reid's a fairly recent West Coast transplant who hails from Toronto. (but we won't hold that against him) We look forward to the spring release of his new CD - locals can see him Feb. 20 at The Main on Main.Take care, play nice, and get out to see some live music this week! amitiés, valfolkoasis@gmail.com
