Life's complexities are our playground as we welcome Langhorne Slim to No Simple Road! We navigate the quirks of growing older, embracing our passions with a bit more fervor and curiosity. Despite the chaos, enduring friendships and the legacies of loved ones remain our anchors. UFOs might hover in our musings, but it's the relationships we cherish that keep us grounded. Our journey isn't just about music; it's about the dance of loss and love, and the beautiful chaos of human connection amidst the mysteries of existence. Music steps in as both healer and unifier, transcending societal divisions and political noise. In our conversations, skepticism towards authority meets a yearning for unity, with music acting as the bridge. Sobriety and personal growth intertwine with tales of confronting addiction, all while Mr. Beautiful, the affectionate cat, adds a sprinkle of humor. Through stories of parenthood, authenticity, and even speculative drone theories, we discover that love, in all its forms, is a powerful force driving us to grow, connect, and thrive. Langhorne Slim is a singer-songwriter based in East Nashville. His new single “We the People (F*** the Man)” is a jubilant reminder to cast a wary eye on our supposed political overlords and instead focus on those things that make a society a place worth living in: loving our neighbors, looking each other in the eye, being *actually* alive on planet earth in this our once and mysterious life. Musician Langhorne Slim joins Camp ASCCA: The Podcast for an episode about divine medicine, connection with people, and being a part of the "energy business." Join us as we dive into Langhorne's time at Camp ASCCA and what music means to him.
This is Episode 122 and our guest is Langhorne Slim. Y'all, this is a special episode on several levels. I am so excited to bring you my intimate conversation with Slim but first we are going to do something a little different. Our good friends Jordan Foley and The Wheelhouse have been hard at work on a new album and you are about to hear the premiere of the first single from that record called "Loners." Then, you will hear our conversation with Langhorne Slim. Langhorne Slim is a singer and songwriter from Pennsylvania whose work has been lauded by The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, The Guardian and many others. Conan O'Brien is among his obsessive fans. Slim has a fascinating mind and sweet spirit that he channels into some of the most beautiful songwriting of his generation. We caught up with Langhorne Slim at the incredible Orange Blossom Revue festival in Lake Wales, FL, in December of 2022. Slim's music has meant a lot to my dear friend and collaborator Jenn Ross who was fortunately covering the festival with me and was able to sit in on the conversation. You will also hear questions from our friend and Patreon patron Jordan Conant as well. This was a true Marinade community effort and I am so grateful for everyone who continues to support this thing.

A couple of newbies that might have missed the mark, for me anyway. But there's comfort and familarity with Linda, Neil & Steve. Skynyrd,as you do. And because they're name-checked on the amazing new Avantdale Bowling Club album, there's some Little Feat cos as much as you want to you can't really play Jazz infused hip hop on a country show. Well I could but the fundamentalists would have kittens. That wicked bluegrass cover of Straight To Hell is there though and brand new Drive By Truckers, Lyall Lovett and new friend Langhorne Slim and a ton more.
We welcome EMELISE, a special singer/songwriter from the Rocky Mountain Front Range, whose passion for making music brings an infectious new energy to a classic sound. Ever since EMELISE started performing at age six, she has often been described as having the voice of an old soul. While she enjoys playing covers by her influences periodically, Emelise primarily performs songs from her own catalog. In 2017 and 2022, Emelise placed first in The Stars of Tomorrow Competition at the world famous New York's Apollo Theatre. She has also been on America's Got Talent and performed at the TedX Series in Denver. We first met EMELISE at the Bluebird Music Festival in Boulder Colorado this year, where she shared the stage with folks like Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, Langhorne Slim, Nicole Atkins and Margo Price and left the audience in awe. I figli. No!! Un Disco, Una Storia: The Boy with the Arab Strap, Belle & Sebastian, 1998 Tredicesima, dico tredici, puntata di "Un Disco, Una Storia". This week Brian is joined by Butch, Lester and Otis from Six Time LosersSix Time Losers is the band that country music didn't know it needed. They are intricate, organic and genuine – they are who they are; infectious with a distinct sound that creates die hard fans. They have shared the stage with the likes of Gary Allan, American Aquarium, Langhorne Slim and more, and there is no stopping this train.Bringing a big band feel to southern rock, Six Time Losers has released their newest album Only First Names Die. They are vibrant, intricate, introspective and genuine; and the same can be said for this newest musical offering. Only First Names Die is a diverse collection of 12 songs spanning genres like folk and alt-country, and inspirations including life, love and historical retrospection. They even honor former band member Weston Williams with their single, “East Coast Railway,” written by Williams who passed away two years ago.Six Time Losers may be innovative, but their respect for tradition and those who came before is to be admired. The album was recorded at Capricorn Sound Studios' historic Studio A, where musical stars such as The Allman Brothers Band, Otis Redding III, Charlie Daniels Band and the Marshall Tucker Band have recorded. The studio closed its doors in 1979, with Six Time Losers as one of the first acts to record a full-length album in the studio since its closing. The new Only First Names Die album by Six Time Losers is available everywhere now!
