If you're a heavy drinker with aspirations of quitting, you'll know that the thought of the first day without booze is scarier than anything. This podcast series begins on the night of Vincent Hero's last alcoholic beverage and chronicles the struggles and the satisfactions of every single pain in the a** day since. Follow along and listen to a borderline autistic idiot with a shi**y attitude, be honest and re**rded, in an attempt to remain sober.
Next time you are late to meet someone or late to a meeting, instead of "Sorry I'm late" say "thank you for waiting" instead. "Sorry" puts people in a defensive state and zaps the energy, while "thank you" puts people at ease with gratitude and brings a sense of positive energy. Another tip is to contact the person you are meeting the second you know you will be late. Update him or her on the new ETA and say "I acknowledge I'm late and I'm committed to being on time." This shows responsibility and action being taken on your part. Lastly, did you know optimistic people tend to run late? Studies show optimistic people think they can cram more into their schedule than actually fits, making them perpetually late! If that's you, just remember to say "thank you" instead of "I'm sorry" next time!
Cabaza was late setting up the podcast so the guest this week had to reschedule. Instead the guys just see how far they can push each other on serious topics.

The Super Bowl has come and gone and yet another NFL season is in the books. It was not a disappointing send off though, because the 49ers and the Chiefs gave us a great game to end the NFL's 100th season. I talk about why we need to give Kyle Shanahan a break, although there was one monumental mistake that even I cannot cut him slack on. Patrick Mahomes seemed to be having a pretty average game by his standards but he came alive in the 4th quarter. I was pretty indifferent about this game because I didn't know who to root for, because as a football fan and historian I had my reasons for cheering for both teams. I am so happy for Andy Reid but I cannot help but feel a little bad for Kyle Shanahan, but hey, life goes on. I also defend Richard Sherman and explain why I hate this social media age (most of the time), and call out one of the worst calls in this game (no, not that one). I also discuss which team between the two has a better chance at not only getting back to the Super Bowl next year but enjoying sustained success.

“Everyone gets lonely. Everyone I met talked about it. It sneaks up on you, especially if you don’t protect yourself from it.” - Jessica Pan. The author of, Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come, Jessica Pan, joins the show to talk about her year of saying yes as an introvert. We talk about friendship, fighting loneliness, and stepping way out of your comfort zone when you least expect it. Jessica Pan spent a year extroverting, and then wrote a delightful book about it! Jessica and I chat about her new book Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come: One Introvert's Year of Saying Yes, and how her life changed in the process. Jessica Pan is a journalist whose work has appeared in the Guardian’s Weekend magazine, The Cut, Refinery29, and Vice, among others. She has a degree in psychology from Brown University and is the coauthor of Graduates in Wonderland, an epistolary memoir about living in Beijing and Paris. She previously worked as a TV reporter and magazine editor in Beijing and now lives in London.
My guest today is Jessica Pan, author of Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come: An Introvert’s Year of Living Dangerously. This is an incredibly funny and frank book all about how Jess decided to drastically change her life for a whole year. An introvert by nature, she decides to live like an extrovert for a year with the help of some experts and mentors along the way. She embraces some horrors. She takes on a series of challenges: improv, a solo holiday, public speaking and talking to strangers on the tube. Jess reports back, and it's laugh out loud, but also rather inspiring. We talk about getting out of our comfort zones, how talking to strangers actually makes us happier, how at a certain age we lose friends and how to make new ones and much more. Hope you enjoy this one! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
