Richard discusses why a study detecting nitazenes in wastewater was needed and what the future for detecting nitazenes in wastewater looks like, including implications for policy and practice. · What is wastewater analysis and how we use it in the field of drugs [01:21]· What are nitazenes and why they are a problem [02:28]· Why a study detecting nitazenes in wastewater was needed [03:31]· Whether there is a demand for nitazenes [04:08]· How Richard and his team chose the eight nitazenes to study [05:05]· The headline findings of the paper [05:55]· Whether a lack of nitazenes in wastewater means that they aren't there or they are in too low concentration to be found [08:16]· The benefits of wastewater analysis to detect nitazenes [09:37]· The surprisingly high level of nitazenes in Australia [10:37]· What we can learn for policy and practice [11:47]· The joy and difficulties working with many co-authors! [14:11]About Elle Wadsworth: Elle is an academic fellow with the Society for the Study of Addiction. She is based at the University of Bath with the Addiction and Mental Health Group and her research interests include drug policy, cannabis legalisation, and public health. Elle is also a senior analyst at RAND Europe, working on projects focusing on national and international drug policies. About Richard Bade: Dr Richard Bade is a Senior Research Fellow at the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) within The University of Queensland. He completed his PhD at the University Jaume I, Castellon, Spain in 2016 before moving to the University of South Australia in 2017 and QAEHS in 2021. He is interested in understanding links between environmental and community health using wastewater analysis. His particular research interests are associated with the surveillance, detection and identification of new psychoactive substances (NPS) in wastewater and other matrices as well as exploring the impact of chemical and pathogen exposure during mass gatherings. Dr Bade currently leads an expanding international consortium exploring the prevalence of NPS worldwide. These data can help provide insights into the emergence of new, potent NPS, and ensure that public harm from their exposure is minimized. With 8 games to go it couldn't be more tense in all of the key positions, only 1 of the top 6 winning this weekend, with Elche still to play, A raft of teams queuing up behind them should they slip up and that's before we even mention the bottom end of the table, victories for Tenerife, Eldense and Zaragoza piling the pressure on to Castellon, Malaga and Sporting, with the Asturian side deciding enough is enough and calling time on Ruben Albes' reign. =========== Join us on Patreon for extra FREE content, joining as a free member. My guest on this episode is the newly crowned United States Amateur Champion, Josele Ballester from Castellon de la Plana, Spain. As you would imagine, Josele has been on quite the media blitz as of late. Lots of questions about the final match at Hazeltine against Noah Kent and his legion of Iowa fans. We did speak about the match, but we also dove into his start in the game in Spain, what ultimately made him decide to play college golf at Arizona State, and the other amateur accomplishemnts on his resume that played a huge role in his success at this year's U.S. Amateur. There is a lot of great information in this episode, I really enjoyed speaking with Josele and I'll see him throughout the college season now that Arizona State has moved to the Big 12 Conference. This week the guys are joined by the one and only David Castellon. David has seen it all in his 15 years in and around craft beer: from pounding porters in the family restaurant to building craft beer in early 2000s SoCal, guiding tours through Anchor's historic brewery, to his current role building brand and culture with Gravely Brewing. This conversation was as fascinating as it was wide-ranging. Come for the beer talk, stay for the film analysis (and some questionably earned LAT accolades). Matt spent the past week travelling to Andorra and then - via some days in Barcelona and Tarragona - to Villarreal to take in two Málaga away days in the space of one week. Plus, he made a pilgrimage to watch a former Spanish great play for CD Castellon. He decided to take his ‘Vamos a…' podcast on the road to record his road trip.Matt has more success this time around, as he finally gets to see Málaga win away from home, as the team triumphed in the very yellow surroundings of Villarreal's estadio. A great game and great atmosphere from the Malaguistas. Then Matt went off on a pilgrimage to see former Swansea great and Leeds cult hero Pablo Hernández play for 3rd tier Castellon, where he was unsurprised to find some Leeds fans on a similar pilgrimage.

Today's guest is an interior designer with a focus on and passionate about hospitality design. Valentina Castellon is the Principal and National Hospitality Design Leader at DLR Group based in Minneapolis. She enjoys seeing a project work its way from birth to completion. Valentina was also a Boutique 18 Inductee in 2020. Valentina joins the host Dan Ryan to share her journey and thoughts about the hospitality industry in the built environment. Takeaways: Hospitality is all about opening up your home and yourself to provide a memorable experience for anyone who stays with you. The hospitality industry is not for everyone, as it requires long hours and a lot of attention to detail, but the people who stay are bit by the “hospitality bug” and want to bring great designs to other people's lives. Whenever you think about hotel design, it might look pretty but there is a deeper meaning to it. Not only is the design aspect important, but it needs to serve a functional purpose as well Working in a collaborative process allows you to get voices from multiple different avenues. This can help point you in the right direction for a design or give you more data points for what works and what doesn't. When working on designs for different companies or spaces, you don't want to stay stagnant. You want your designs to be different and unique to the point that people will be asking who designed rather than it being the same design over and over again. When you have an influx of demand, you have to think about the three C's for your company; Your capacity to do the project, if it's a creative fit for your company and if you like working with the clients. Hospitality is a space that is meant to be shared and enjoyed by others. It allows you to reach people and their feelings all over the world and not just one particular area or group. Everyone's brain is wired differently, some more different than others, but none are the same. Understanding these differences, their strengths and challenges, are important to realize our full potential, learn better and work together. Siena Castellon is an 18-year-old neurodiversity advocate and best selling author of the wonderful book The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide: How to Grow Up Awesome and Autistic. At the age of 12, Siena was diagnosed as autistic, dyslexic, dyspraxic and ADHD. As she searched for information to better understand these labels, she realized that the information she was looking for did not exist. This inspired her to set up a mentoring website for other people like her, to give practical tips and advice on how to navigate a world along neurotypical lines. Siena has gone on to have many great achievements that have helped and supported countless individuals. She launched Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an international campaign that aims to challenge negative perceptions and stereotypes about autism and learning differences by encouraging schools to flip the narrative from focusing on the challenges of being neurodivergent to focusing on strengths and talents. Over 760 schools and over half a million students from around the world took part in 2020. Siena has also won the 2018 Teen Hero BBC Radio One for her inspiring work. I'm thrilled to have her on the podcast to discuss the importance of understanding how people think and learn differently. Ultrasound has become an indispensable tool while caring for critically ill patients. Increasing availability at bedside and the role that it plays in the diagnosis and management of patients had made that clinicians incorporate ultrasound as a part of their bedside clinical examination. Some colleagues argue that it can be a good hemodynamic tool too, however, others disagree. Speakers: Dr Laura GALARZA. Intensivist at the University General Hospital in Castellon, Spain and Deputy Chair of the ESICM NEXT committee. Prof Xavier MONNET. Professor of Intensive Care at the Paris-South University, working in the Medical Intensive Care Unit of the Bicêtre Hospital. Prof. Monnet's main fields of research are acute circulatory failure and its treatment, haemodynamic monitoring and heart-lung interactions. He is the Chair of the ESICM cardiovascular dynamics section.

Becoming a professional engineer is a difficult task at any point in time, regardless of where we were born or live. However, challenges become even greater when we choose to pursue a career in a different country. Not only are the language and culture adoption barriers to overcome, but the way things work out in the new place can also be intimidating. Today, our guest explains how she managed to overcome all of these. Daughter of two engineers and sister of talented siblings ranging from engineers and doctors, Martha Castellon was born and raised in Honduras. Needless to say, she grew up surrounded by engineering conversations and soon realized she was good at math and physics. After receiving her bachelor's degree in Honduras, she could not find a job there and, following her parents' advice, she decided to learn English and come to the US to get a master's degree. Being an international student, however, required her to find a job within three months upon completing her graduate studies. Otherwise, she would have to leave. Today, Martha shares the troubles she's been through while on the job hunt in the US, how volunteering (you read it right!) helped her land a position as a road design engineer, how the language barriers caused her to take the FE more than once, and how the Ultimate Civil FE Review Course helped her in her goal of passing this exam. She also shares some tips for those preparing to take the test, how planning ahead can greatly improve your odds, as well as how the CEA community and team members along with tons of practice problems helped her prepare, take, and pass her FE exam. Siena Castellon is an 18-year-old advocate, author, mentor and Young Leader for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She is autistic, has dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. After being eventually diagnosed with autism she wrote The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide: How to Grow Up Awesome and Autistic, which is a fantastic guide for neurodiverse girls navigating a neurotypical world. We discuss the stigma around autism in girls; how, because she was undiagnosed and consequently misunderstood by teachers and pupils alike, she was ruthlessly bullied throughout her school life and was failed by a mainstream education system that did not appreciate her learning differences. Getting a diagnosis of autism meant she wanted to support other neurodiverse girls which led her to setting up a mentoring website and writing her book. She talks about autism as a superpower, about challenging stereotypes and we speak about how we need to support and enable those with autism to thrive in a world that is set up for people who are neurotypical. She talks about Neurodiversity Celebration Week, her conception, which has been adopted by an increasing number of schools in the UK. Siena is an absolute trailblazer, who is having a huge impact through her work. Her views about how we view neurodiversity are important and her advice will be useful for many people.

This week we welcome 17 year old Siena Castellon, an autistic neurodiversity advocate and anti-bullying activist to discuss her experiences growing up, and the negative assumptions and ideas that surround autism. A moving conversation that may challenge everything you think you know about life on the spectrum, embracing and celebrating difference, and how we can all show up as kinder, more compassionate humans in our communities. Siena was diagnosed as autistic when she was twelve, her diagnosis came as a welcome relief after years of being rejected by her classmates for being odd, eccentric and weird and always feeling out of place, she felt she finally had an explanation. But, it was only when she started delving deeper into understanding what this really meant for her that she learned many girls continue to fly under the radar, as behaviours can vary drastically and many textbooks only studied male behaviours. She discovered that there were very few books and resources aimed at autistic girls, and they didn't address many of the issues she faced as a teen. So, she decided , to write her own book: The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide: How to Grow Up Awesome and Autistic, which is now available at all good book stores.
