Roll-up, roll-up for the biggest tent of all! We're launching into 2025 with a very special guest, Imogen West-Knights, and an absolutely vast cursed object, containing lots of smaller ones. Was this the ultimate symbol of the early Blair years, for better and worse? What was the Dome Minister's deep connection to the 1951 Festival of Britain? What was it actually like to visit the Dome as a child in 2000? Should we all be a bit less cynical about massive projects like this? Just how tacky was it in the end? When French filmmaker Anthony Chene first came across a story about a near death experience it clicked. It immediately made sense to him, even though he didn't grow up in a spiritual home. He wasn't even sure what a psychic was. But NDEs seemed right. “Yes, it was this world that didn't make sense. I was in finance, but I barely made any money. I didn't fit anywhere”, Anthony says. “The idea that this physical world is a tiny part and there are other dimensions beyond the five senses – of course it's like that.” He suddenly remembered that he had these insights as a child. He remembered that he used to think that every human being could become God by activating something inside. This was a turning point. Anthony was 28 years old and had just begun a mainstream business career, but now he embarked on a completely new journey, documenting spiritual experiences. “I couldn't go back. It was sad, I really wanted to fit in, it felt like a failure. But I couldn't, It was either this, or I would collapse”, he says. The universe planted another idea in his mind, that he must make these videos in English, in the US. “I asked my guides, why? I'm French, I don't even have a work permit in the US.” “But I did it. I went to the US to interview people, again and again.” Anthony thinks it is easier to talk about these topics in English-speaking countries than in France. “The problem is mainly Paris. I live in the south, and it's easier there. It's a little bit more open and spiritual. But in Paris it's all about the analytical mind.” He has noted that things are changing, however, even in the materialist hub of the French revolution. Anthony's latest, and biggest, project is the recently released NDE documentary ‘Renaissance', featuring three near death experiencers and three experts on the subject. There is no doubt in Anthony's mind that consciousness is independent of the brain. “We are all connected. A higher version of us, not the mind, is projecting this reality. My higher self is projecting you right now, and your higher self is projecting me”, he says. In ancient spiritual texts, this reality is often called a dream. In modern times it has been referred to as a matrix, and nowadays it's popular among spiritually oriented people to talk about a simulation. In Anthony's mind, all these analogies describe the same thing. “It's a simulation, but our higher selves planned it before we came here, I think. It's a simulation with certain checkpoints.” People often say they have a hard time finding out what their purpose is, what they are supposed to do. “But you do know. Deep down you know. Just show up in faith and do what you have to do. It's very simple. But I have to tell myself that sometimes, too.” Anthony believes we live in crucial times. Things are going to change a lot In the next few years, and very deeply so, he thinks. “Time is speeding up. We are approaching a zero point. Time is going to reset. And it will happen before 2030, I think. But it won't be the end of the world. It will be the same world, but at the same time very different.” Powerful structures try to suppress knowledge about the afterlife and the true nature of reality. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #578 is an hour of expansive, evocative, visionary acoustic improvised music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, shruti box, mandolin, nylon string guitar and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas.  Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in June 2024, today's show begins with the staid, whispering, lovely “Roses” before sliding smoothly into the hushed raga “Deep Down”, a pretty piece with imaginative piano over Mariam's shruti box drone that slowly expands into a powerful, melodic coda.  “Come Along” is a pretty, open, harmonically innovative piece featuring powerful vocals and Native flute from Mariam and clever chord clusters from Bob and “Peace Prevailing” is a mysterious, minor folk song built upon Mariam's clear, open ukulele and Craig's tightly defined congas.  “Life Holds Us In An Embrace” has the imprimatur of ancient British Isles folk music harmonically and sonically with Mariam's chiming mandolin and Bob's obsessive ostinato.  “Gathering In The Forces Of Love” is a beautiful, mysterious drone piece given variety and contrast with Mariam's sweeping melody and Bob's imaginative piano directions and “River Flowing By” is a widescreen, spacious piece that begins with a trademark Native flute fanfare over Native drum until electronically treated piano enters and supports a powerful duet between Mariam's lilting melody and Native flute work.  Today's show concludes with the Verdian gospel song “Sing Down The Walls” from Mariam's “Gaea Star Crystal” album from 2009. His adventures took him to every locale in the US and sometimes to foreign climes. Bob Bailey was the favorite, and stayed with the show until it ended.

I first started listening to her music with her debut album, “In Between” in which she presents a unique approach to the harmonica and all her albums feature her original music which is inspired by the European jazz tradition and the Middle-Eastern world. Ariel began playing the chromatic harmonica at the age of 7 and since then it's been her primary instrument.  We're including music from several of her albums. You'll hear  about some of her inspiring mentors and collaborators and her positive experience at the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, including working with Reggie Workman, Shai Maestro, and Jane Ira Bloom. His recent book, Notes on Complexity: The Scientific Theory of Connection, Consciousness, and Being explores all of these topics and more. Main Idea: So many people try to do good believing that good will come back to them, but they get extremely discouraged and confused when it seems like only bad comes after. The broken expectation often changes what they believe, how they live and even the dreams they once hoped to fulfill. Today, we're going to look at the life of Joseph in order to connect pieces of his life to our own. We're going to unpack what it was like for him to consistently choose to do the right thing only to have calamity attack him in return. We're going to analyze how he survived the cruelty and jealousy of people around him. And we're going to try to understand how he was able to not let the actions of others change who he was deep down. The reason this topic is important to talk about is because many people hope that you can avoid bad by doing good but are slapped with life experiences that are unfair and simply cruel. While they once had dreams and the thought of reaching those dreams by doing good, they become changed before they ever were able to see their dreams fulfilled. Not only that, but they often end up adopting the ideology “if you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em” and transform into a different person who no longer seeks the fulfillment of their purpose. (Genesis 37:6-7) — 1. Life Can Be Unfair [INTEGRITY IS CHOOSING TO DO THE RIGHT THING REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME] Most people have an inclination to do good in order to see good come to you. When you mix that with our desire to see our dreams fulfilled, you usually get a hope that one day, if you're patient, you will see your dreams come to pass as long as you continue to do the right thing. But life is typically more chaotic and seemingly spiteful towards us than we expect, and we end up facing increasingly more difficult scenarios that test the integrity of our morals. (Genesis 37:2; Genesis 39:7-12) — 2. People Can Be Cruel [THE HURTFUL ACTIONS OF OTHERS DOESN'T ALWAYS MAKE SENSE] It's so peculiar how even as children, we as human beings have a nature to bully and hurt people unnecessarily. So often we think that it's just because hurt people hurt people, but there are plenty of times where there is no reason or explanation for the cruelty that some people exhibit towards others. So many people are left with the question of “why is this happening to me?” (Genesis 37:23-25; Genesis 39:13-14) — 3. You Can Do This [DON'T LET THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS CHANGE WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN] Everything that we go through in life affects our worldview and has the potential to either build up or tear down our dreams. With each new struggle that you face, you have to find the strength to endure to believe what you do matters. No matter how many times you feel like you get knocked down, you have to remember that you can still do this.
