On this exciting episode of Fishing the DMV, I am joined by Ben Ricks, Assistant Chief of Fisheries Management and Coastal Region Supervisor with the Inland Fisheries Division of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Ben is also one of the hosts of Better Fishing with 2 Bald Biologists, and he brings a fisheries biologist's perspective to one of the most talked-about bass fishing destinations in the country. We start the episode with a broad overview of North Carolina bass fishing, including the different types of opportunities anglers can find across the state — from inland lakes and rivers to coastal river systems loaded with largemouth bass potential. Then, around the 25-minute mark, we dive into a full breakdown of the Roanoke River, Pasquotank River, Albemarle Sound, and the surrounding connected waters leading into the Bassmaster Elite Series event on the Pasquotank River/Albemarle Sound. This fishery exploded onto the national bass fishing scene after the 2025 Bassmaster Elite event, where Kyle Welcher put together a historic performance with over 118 pounds and won by more than 45 pounds. But with the 2026 Bassmaster Elite event taking place in June instead of April, anglers could face a completely different challenge. In this episode, we talk about what makes the Pasquotank River and Albemarle Sound so unique, including wind-driven water movement, connected rivers and creeks, forage, largemouth bass behavior, coastal North Carolina habitat, and why this fishery has the potential to produce giant tournament bags.If you are a Bassmaster fan, tournament angler, North Carolina bass fisherman, or someone who loves learning about fisheries management and bass behavior, this episode will give you a deeper look at one of the most unpredictable and exciting stops on the Bassmaster Elite Series schedule.Topics Covered: North Carolina bass fishing Bassmaster Elite Series Pasquotank River preview Albemarle Sound bass fishing Roanoke River largemouth bass fishing Pasquotank River fishing report Coastal North Carolina bass fishing Wind-driven water movement and bass behavior Fisheries management with Ben Ricks Better Fishing with 2 Bald Biologists Why this fishery can produce giant bagsSubscribe to Fishing the DMV for more bass fishing reports, tournament breakdowns, fisheries management conversations, and regional fishing coverage across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.Ben Ricks contact information: ben.ricks@ncwildlife.gov link to Two Bald Biologist Podcast: Better Fishing with 2 Bald Biologists" is a monthly podcast featuring North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission biologists Corey Oakley and Ben Ricks link to NC Wildlife website: https://www.ncwildlife.gov/Please support Fishing the DMV on Patreon!! https://patreon.com/FishingtheDMVPodcast If you are interested in being on the show or a sponsorship opportunity, please reach out to me at fishingtheDMV@gmail.com LMD Enterprises: http://lmdoil.com/ Jake's bait & Tackle Website: http://www.jakesbaitandtackle.com/ Link to Tactical Fishing Company: https://tacticalfishingco.com/ Fishing Pro Tech: https://www.facebook.com/FishingProTech Phone Number: (757) 566-1278 Email: lin@fishingprotech.us Fishing Pro Tech Address: 7812-A Richmond Road, Toano, VA, United States, 23168 Flint Financial Planning: https://www.flintfinancialplanning.com/Support the show

99% of AI use is making you less efficient, not more. You open ChatGPT and ask "What are some things I can do with AI for my business?" Then you spend three hours going down rabbit holes, testing random prompts, and convincing yourself you're being productive. You're not. You're procrastinating with a fancy tool. In this episode of The Expert Edge, I sit down with Rick Mulready, an AI expert who shut down a million-dollar mastermind three years ago to go all-in on AI for online business owners. Rick breaks down the biggest mistake people make with AI - coming without a use case and asking what's possible instead of solving a specific problem. We talk about why AI without a clear problem to solve is just expensive distraction, the difference between AI assistants (that answer questions) and AI agents (that actually do the work), and how to stop burning time pretending busy work with AI is actual leverage. Rick shares how his wife Amy gets better output from Claude than most developers - just by talking to it like a human and clearly articulating what she wants. He also reveals why most coaching chatbots are useless (just course material dumped into AI) versus ones that actually adapt and coach. You'll discover: Why asking "what can I do with AI?" is the fastest way to waste three hours How to come to AI with a use case and problem instead of exploring possibilities The difference between AI assistants and AI agents - and why agents are where the real business leverage lives How to get amazing AI output without fancy prompts (just clearly articulate what you want) What makes a coaching chatbot actually valuable vs. regurgitating course content This conversation isn't about AI tips and tricks. It's about using AI efficiently - knowing the problem you're solving before you ever open the tool, building systems that do real work instead of just helping you think about work, and avoiding the rabbit holes that make you feel productive while accomplishing nothing. If you've been using AI and feeling like it's not saving you time - or worse, it's creating more work - this episode will show you what you're doing wrong. The GLP-1 drug revolution has taken the medicine world by storm. I've done several episodes on the science of GLP-1s. But we've never done an episode like this before, where we talk to one of the most important people in charge of guiding the GLP-1 drug revolution. Our guest is Dave Ricks, the CEO of Eli Lilly, the largest pharmaceutical company in the world. First we talk about what makes the GLP-1 drug category special and the science that Lilly is doing to improve these drugs. Then, we talk about the pharmaceutical industry more broadly. How it works. How it could work better. And I don't shy away from the question that I think Pharma CEOs need to take much more seriously: If the pharmaceutical industry is theoretically more devoted than any other economic category to saving people's lives, why do Americans distrust it more than any other industry in the entire economy? Marketing professional services is hard.Marketing accounting might be one of the hardest versions of that challenge. On this episode of the He Said, She Said: Razor Branding™ Podcast, we sit down with Sunny Ricks, who leads marketing for a large, multi-state CPA firm across the Southeast. Together, we unpack what it really takes to build a brand in an industry defined by confidentiality, regulation, and trust. This conversation goes far beyond taxes. We also dig into recruiting challenges, AI's real role in marketing, and how brands can modernize without sacrificing credibility. If you market in accounting, legal, consulting, or any expertise-driven industry where trust matters more than flash, this episode will feel uncomfortably familiar—in the best way.

Send us a textActor, director, writer, and producer Tijuana Ricks joins At the Podium for a deeply reflective conversation about origin, representation, and what it means to take up space in a life that truly belongs to you.Known for her work across more than 100 episodes of television—including the Marvel Netflix universe (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist), multiple seasons of Billions, and Tiny Beautiful Things—Tijuana reflects on how being raised in a big, loud, Black, Creole matriarchy in Gramercy, Louisiana shaped her voice, presence, and sense of agency. In this episode, Tijuana poses one of the most honest questions anyone navigating high-pressure careers, elite training programs, or long-held dreams can ask:Are you actually happy? She challenges the idea that persistence alone is virtuous, and speaks candidly about what happens when we continue doing what we think we should be doing simply because we've invested so much time and identity into it—even when it no longer feeds us. This conversation explores how representation matters not only on screen, but behind the camera, and how claiming authorship over your life can change the way you move through the world. This is not a conversation about quitting. It's about listening.About joy, sustainability, and self-authorship.

Send us a textThe 20th edition of the Arctic Report Card was released on December 16th, 2025 with an impressive compilation of scientific reports on the Arctic. Today's conversation is with editor and long-time contributor, Rick Thoman, who is an award winning climate specialist at IARC's Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Preparedness(ACCAP). Rick has attempted retirement more than once, but his passion for all things Arctic and climate fuel numerous newsletters and also news rooms as he is truly an expert on this topic. His positive impacts are felt amongst Arctic peoples and also for being a wonderful liaison between the scientific community and Arctic policy makers. The Arctic Report Card is an annual report supported by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) with Pan-Arctic perspective and an independent editorial team. The efforts of scientists and climate specialists to create this robust scientific peer reviewed report is in Ricks words, "Herculean"! The amount of work contributed to this scientific document is extremely important in documenting climate change in the Arctic, which is warming at an alarming rate. Rick discusses highlights that include surface air temperatures and impacts on intensity of storms, including Typhoon Halong, as well as terrestrial snow cover, Greenland Ice Sheet, sea ice, glaciers, marine algae, tundra greenness...all in relatable terminology from complex and hard earned scientific data. The Report Card is intended for a wide audience, including scientists, teachers, students, decision-makers and the general public interested in the Arctic environment and science. It is encouraged that the Report Card to be utilized and studied, as the scientific community has created it to be an easily read report for the general population to better understand the complexities of the warming Arctic. Here is the link to the 2025 Arctic Report Card:https://arctic.noaa.gov/report-card/report-card-2025/This year held a photo contest for the cover of the Arctic Report Card:https://globalocean.noaa.gov/2025-arctic-report-card-photo-video-contest/Here is the full PFD on the 2025 Arctic Report Card. https://arctic.noaa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ArcticReportCard_full_report2025.pdfBe sure to visit this year's Arctic Report Card 2025 for all of the in-depth scientific review of the things that have caught attention of this year's events. Relationships in HD — Part 13: Parenting with the End in Mind Description: In Part 13 of Relationships in HD, Pastor Eric unpacks what it means to parent—and disciple—with the end in mind. From Titus 2 to Proverbs 22 and Ephesians 6, Scripture shows that biblical parenting isn't merely about raising compliant kids, but about shaping men and women who love Jesus, think biblically, serve faithfully, and stand strong in a culture that pulls them the other way. This message expands the circle beyond biological parenting. Every mature believer—older men, older women, mentors, youth leaders, and spiritual fathers and mothers—carries a responsibility to invest in the next generation. Pastor Eric walks through the voices that shaped him: parents who were purposeful, a father-in-law who discipled him to Jesus, a youth leader who said “yes” when asked, and a pastor who taught him to keep his feet on the ground and his heart faithful. With honesty, humor, and real-life stories (from toddler defiance to raising sensitive sons and strong daughters), Pastor Eric shows why we must train up children according to their way—their God-given wiring, personality, gifting, and calling—while grounding them in the unchanging truth of God's Word. Parenting with the end in mind means raising boys to become providers, protectors, and humble leaders; raising girls to become wise, strong, compassionate women of God; and raising all children to become functioning members of society and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. The goal is Jesus. The foundation is Jesus. And if we miss Him, we miss everything. Key Scriptures (NKJV): Titus 2:1–8; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6–9; Ephesians 6:1–4; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Romans 5:6–8; Matthew 19:13–14. Highlights: Parenting is both biological and spiritual—every mature believer has a role in shaping the next generation. Titus 2 discipleship: older men and older women teaching those coming behind them. Why rebellion isn't inevitable—Scripture calls all believers, including teens, to holiness and self-control. Train up a child according to his way—guiding each child's unique wiring under God's design. Raising sons to provide, protect, lead with humility, and treat women with dignity. Raising daughters to love their families, walk in strength and wisdom, and live self-controlled lives. Modeling repentance and honesty—children don't need perfect parents, but parents who walk with a perfect Savior. The church's calling: producing the next generation of Ricks, Kens, Debbies, and faithful disciplers. The ultimate end: pointing every child—ours or others—to Jesus, the only One who can save. Next Steps: Identify one young person in your home or church you can intentionally invest in this week. Pray through Deuteronomy 6, look for natural moments “when you sit, walk, lie down, and rise up,” and bring God into real-life conversations. Then choose one simple practice—an apology, a conversation about Scripture, or an act of sacrificial love—that points them toward Jesus.
On Nov. 14, Crystal Lake Publishing released “The Night Crew 2: Bloodlust” by Brad Ricks, the sequel to “The Night Crew.” Here's a look at what's in store: The Night Crew thought they'd seen it all-werewolves, vampires, and things too monstrous to name. Michael and his team are about to face something far deadlier: a supernatural killer with an insatiable thirst for blood and a plan to unleash chaos on New Orleans. This time, the enemy isn't hiding in the dark—they're walking boldly among the living, leaving a trail of corpses in their wake. As the Night Crew fights to stop the bloodshed, they also confront their own inner demons: haunting memories, deadly secrets, and the chilling realization that some monsters aren't born—they're made. Brad talks about how he built on the first book to create his series and some of the elements he plans to include. He shares what challenges the Night Crew will face in the new book and the demons they'll square off with. We also go into how Brad came to work with Crystal Lake, as well as the story behind the chilling cover art. There's audiobooks for all his books [with the one for “Bloodlust” soon to be released] and Brad talks about how he knows a voice actor is the one to work with.

Thank God for the Sinners follows Rick Price, a tortured soul, as he tries to balance his high stakes career, while keeping secret his role as a clandestine double agent. When a Chinese prostitute dies during an unsavory sex act in his hotel room, Rick is thrust into a frantic scramble to protect his innocence and save his life.Ricks story unravels through a series of gratuitous flashbacks, revealing the harrowing details of his sick and twisted childhood. The damage of his past lingers, tormenting him as he spirals through a relentless cycle of violence, perversion, and bad judgement. The trauma continues as we follow Rick through his madness battling his obsession with anger, addiction, punk rock, and exotic debauchery.Thank God for the Sinners is a precautionary tale featuring an unlikely hero trapped in a surreal world where the lines between madness and reality are blurred. Could Rick's “sinful” tendencies be the result of his childhood abuse, reckless choices, or the relentless pressure of being manipulated as a deep state operative? Is it the everyday stress of the job that is driving him mad or was he destined to be a sinner from the start?Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. Hosted on Acast. Rick and Jay talk about stupid mistakes, shoe money, James Burrows, Cheers, directing people, not getting the girl, and the moment you reveal your big secret and no one cares.Bio: Rick Beren grew up in the Sixties and Seventies in the very liberal Bay Area. Even then, he managed to push the boundaries of tolerance of his parents, teachers, and eventually, the law. Mostly minor indiscretions, and all (always) in the pursuit of fun, but it landed him in the Vacaville State prison for selling one quarter gram of cocaine. The quality was so poor, he should've been convicted of false advertising. Anyway, his girlfriend also was sent to State prison (unfortunately, not by his side) for women. She had sold the same undercover agent, some 200 amphetamine pills. They were in college at the time (1977) and spent about 5 months in jail. The story of Ricks book is told with humor, compassion and a what the fuck attitude of how could this little, entitled, Jew end up in prison with Charles Manson and his ilk? As I say, He was probably always headed in that direction. Speaking of direction. In less than five years after his release, he was the director's assistant on his favorite show, Cheers. Rick found his life calling and immersed himself in the bliss of being around these amazingly talented people. He worked his way up the ladder and became a director himself and on that very show! He went on to direct many shows and worked in the industry for four decades. Along the way, he fell into an amazing relationship (with a girl who was not an ex-con) and they have two (so far not ex-con) daughters. Life turned out pretty fucking great. And the highlight of his life and career was being able to spend time with Jay ( the legend) Kogen in an intimate (edited) two hour conversation. Jay wants his time backing the form of a poker game where he can monetize his efforts.

Episode 379: Ricks on tour, Hannahs at home, and Mikes in the dark. This episode.....is something.
Rick takes your questions this week, and there were plenty to choose from. You sent in hundreds. Sadly, we can't get to all of them, but it was clear that there were some trends. Ricks covers ground from Trump's recent pardons to his craven desire to stoke chaos in order to crush dissent with violence. And one of you, at least, wondered if Trump was actually a spy. Please, keep the questions coming! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
