Jalen Archer just completed his first year as the Coordinator of Video and Camp Operations for the Southern Miss men's basketball program. Archer spent the previous six seasons at Lancaster Bible College as an assistant coach. While at LBC, Archer helped the school to a NEAC Regular Season Championship (2017-18), NEAC Conference Tournament Championship (2017-18), two United East Conference Regular Season Championships (2021-22, 2022-23), one United East Conference Tournament Championship (2021-22), and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Archer played collegiate basketball at both Valley Forge and Lancaster Bible. His four-year career included 114 games with 85 starts over three seasons at Valley Forge and one at Lancaster Bible. He was named NCCAA Mid-East Region Honorable Mention as a junior at Valley Forge. At LBC, Archer led the team in assists, steals and three-point percentage as a senior. Kyle Tolin is the Head Men's Basketball Coach at The University of Texas Permian Basin. In his first four seasons at UTPB the Falcons have a 62-54 overall record and made the Lone Star Conference Tournament in 2022.Prior to UTPB, Tolin spent the last seven seasons at the University of Arkansas - Monticello, where he reached the NCAA Tournament twice, won a pair of regular-season conference championships, and had 108 victories, completely turning around the Boll Weevil program. Tolin took the reins of the UAM program in 2014 after helping Oklahoma Baptist reach 14 straight NAIA national tournaments during his 10 years as an assistant coach and four years as a student-athlete. The 2010 Bison team won the NAIA national championship, while the 2002 and 2012 teams finished as national runners-up. During that 14-year span, the team's record in the national tournament was 30-12. The 2010 national championship team finished with an overall record of 34-2.As a student-athlete at Oklahoma Baptist, Tolin scored over 1,000 points during his four-year career and was a two-time All-SAC honorable mention. He played in every game during his career, and in addition to his scoring, averaged 4.3 assists per game overall. Tramel Barnes is a men's basketball assistant coach at South Dakota State University under Head Coach Eric Henderson. This is Barnes' second stint as an assistant with the Jackrabbits having also served under Henderson from 2019-21. Barnes spent three seasons from 2021-2024 at the University Utah on the coaching staff led by Craig Smith. He's served as a director of player personnel and assistant coach for the Utes. Barnes had previously worked with Smith during the 2018-19 season at Utah State where he served as director of basketball operations and player development. The NABC recognized Barnes for his efforts and named him to the 2019 Under Armour 30-Under-30 Team.Barnes began his coaching career at Southwest Minnesota State in 2013 after a four-year collegiate career capped by two seasons with the Mustangs. Bob Williams is the head coach of Fork Union Military Academy's postgraduate boys' basketball program. Under Williams' leadership, Fork Union has achieved an impressive 102-44 record over four seasons. Williams brought 24 years of collegiate head coaching experience to Fork Union, including a successful tenure at West Virginia University Tech from 2002 to 2019. At WVU Tech, he led the Golden Bears to the NAIA National Tournament in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Williams' accomplishments at WVU Tech include being named "Coach of the Year" three times, recording his 403rd career win, producing 14 All-Americans, and securing three conference championships.Prior to WVU Tech, Williams was the head coach at Glenville State College from 1997-2002 and the head coach at Jefferson Community College (NY) from 1995-1997. Williams has also served as the associate head coach at Jefferson, an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Potsdam State (NY), and the head coach at Indian River High School (NY). Brad Cooper just completed his first season as the Men's Basketball Head Coach at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. He spent the previous season as an assistant at Hamilton College. Prior to joining the staff at Hamilton, Cooper was the head coach at Keystone College in La Plume, Pa., from 2013 to 2023 and an assistant coach at Keystone for the previous two seasons.Cooper has also been the 17U boys' coach for Scranton-based NEPA Elite AAU since 2022, and was an assistant coach at his alma mater -- SUNY Fredonia -- during the 2010-11 season. He graduated from Fredonia as one of the top 15 all-time leading scorers at the school with 1,077 career points and was a two-time member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference men's basketball all-conference team. This is Zach' second stint on the Texan staff having previously been an assistant in the 2022-23 season, before departing at the end of that season to join Tarleton graduate and former Texan assistant Jason Hooten at New Mexico State for 2023-24. He also spent one season as an assistant at Coastal Carolina.Prior to Coastal Carolina, Settembre was the Head Coach at Tallahassee Community College in the JUCO ranks where he led the Eagles to back-to-back Panhandle Conference Championships, a 46-9 overall record, and was named the Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year in both seasons. Settembre is a 2012 graduate of Syracuse and served as a student manager under Jim Boeheim. Following his college graduation, Settembre returned home to Kentucky and worked as a freshman head boys basketball coach at Iroquois High School (2012-13) and Ballard High School (2013-14). Next, as the Head Coach at Louisville Collegiate School Settembre guided the program to a school-record 23 victories and a trip to the All “A” State Tournament. He was named the KABC (Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches) and Courier-Journal Seventh Region Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. Jim Baker is in his first season as the Boys' Basketball Head Coach at Cannon School in Concord, North Carolina. Baker spent the past seven seasons at Central Carrabus High School where he had a record of 132-53 and won 2 NCHSAA 3A State Championships in 2023 and 2024 going 65-0 during those two seasons.Prior to his stint as a high school coach Baker was the Men's Basketball Head Coach at Catawba College from 1994 – 2014 amassing an overall record of 344-236. He guided the Indians to the NCAA II Tournament nine times, won 6 South Atlantic Conference Championships and 6 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championships.Baker began his coaching career as an assistant at Catawba in 1978 where he also played his college basketball from 1975-1978. Cory Baldwin is the Head Men's Basketball Coach at South Georgia State College. During his tenure, which began in 2009, the Hawks have won more than 340 games, won three conference tournaments, and played in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2023, 2021, and 2011.110 student-athletes have moved on to continue their education at four-year institutions while playing basketball at the four-year level. Also, over the past 14 years, 94% of Baldwin's basketball players have graduated with an Associate degree before moving on. In addition, they have had 7 NJCAA All-Americans (3 in a row 2 separate times) in just 15 seasons of competition and 14 NJCAA Academic All-Americans. Justin Newton is in his 6th season as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Reinhardt University. He has amassed over 120 Head Coaching wins and has 13 years of experience as a college coach. Newton has had 3 top 2 Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season finishes in his 5 years at Reinhardt. Newton previously served one season as the Head Coach at Andrew (Ga.) College where his team had a record-breaking 24-8 mark in 2018-19. He also spent time as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello in the Great American Conference (GAC). Additionally, Newton has made stops at fellow GCAA member South Georgia State, NCAA Division II Columbus State (Ga.), and Lee (Tenn.). Newton started coaching in 2011 as the head boy's basketball coach at his alma mater, Victory Christian School in North Augusta, S.C. Eric Demers is a professional basketball player currently playing in Spain. He also spent two season with the Maine Red Claws in the NBA G League. Demers played his college basketball at D3 Gordon College where he scored over 2,500 points and averaged 32.4 points per game as a senior. He is also a member of the We are D3 TBT team. Chris Kreider is the Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach at Rice University where he is in his second stint at Rice and his sixth season working with Head Coach Rob Lanier, including the last two years as an assistant coach at SMU and three seasons at Georgia State.Kreider was selected to the Top Connect Basketball Symposium in 2022 and 2023, a networking and leadership event that includes athletics directors and some of the top assistant coaches in the country. He was also invited to the 2023 Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program, which is intended to help experienced Division I assistant coaches continue to refine their philosophy both on and off the court.Kreider's first stint at Rice was from 2017-19. Prior to that he worked in various roles at Virginia Military Institute, George Mason, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, USC Aiken, and the University of Great Falls. As a college player Kreider started as a small forward at three colleges, playing one year at Mansfield University before transferring to Grove City College (Pa.). In his junior season, Kreider led the Wolverines in scoring (12.3 ppg) and steals (52). Dave Klatsky is the Men's Basketball Head Coach at New York University. He was named head coach of the Violets in May of 2022. Klatsky produced his second consecutive winning season at NYU in 2023-24, as he led the Violets to a 21-6 record, the University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Championship (the program's first title in 30 years), and to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.In his first season at NYU, Klatsky led the Violets to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2015-16. He set a new standard for the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history as the Violets posted an 18-8 overall record and added a 7-7 mark in the UAA, the most victories since 2015-16.Klatsky came to NYU after an 11-year tenure as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Colgate University under Head Coach Matt Langel, helping lead the program to three of the last four Patriot League Tournament titles.Prior to Colgate, Klatsky served as an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology from 2007-11. Klatsky, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, played for Coach Fran Dunphy from 1999-2003. He set the program's then-single-season assist record in 2000-01.After graduating from Penn, Klatsky worked as an equity analyst and trader in Manhattan and Jersey City, before entering the coaching profession. Michael Rejniak is a Senior Recruiting Specialist at NCSA, the GM/Head Coach of the “We Are D3” team in the TBT tournament, and a former college coach. Rejniak began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at The College of New Jersey from 2004-2006. His next stop was an assistant coach at Plymouth State for one season before he joined Hall of Fame Coach Dave Hixon as an assistant at Amherst for four seasons from 2007-2011. Coach Rej got his first opportunity as a head coach at Suny New Paltz where his teams recorded the most conference wins (9) since 1999 during the 2013 and 2015 seasons and he coached 5 All-Conference student-athletes and 4 1,000 pt scorers. Off the court, his teams equally performed well in the classroom, receiving the NABC Academic Team Excellence Award (cumulative team GPA of 3.0) his final 3 seasons. Following his six-year run at Suny New Paltz, Michael served as an assistant coach at Vassar College under BJ Dunne for one season before joining NCSA. Coach Rej has been the GM and Head Coach of the We are D3 TBT Team since 2018. Joel Wallace is the Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach at LeTourneau University where he works under his brother James who is the YellowJackets Head Coach. Wallace was named the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Assistant Coach of the Year following the 2023-24 season. Previously, Wallace spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Minot State men's basketball program. Rick Boyages has worked inside the college sports industry as a basketball coach, special assistant, conference administrator, and consultant for 39 years. Most recently, he spent 12 years as vice president for men's basketball at the Big Ten Conference in Chicago. His role included oversight of event management, game operations, conduct policies, and officiating. During his tenure, Rick served as sport liaison to 31 head coaches, 30 athletic directors, and dozens of network television executives, arena directors, and NCAA stakeholders. As executive director of the Collegiate Officiating Consortium, LLC, he simultaneously directed men's basketball officiating operations for 65 Division I institutions in 22 states.Boyages also spent time as associate commissioner for the Mid-American Conference and special assistant to the athletic director at Ohio State University. His 19 years as a college basketball coach included stops at Ohio State, Boston College, William & Mary, and Bates College. He was an integral part of Big East and Big Ten championship seasons with Ohio State and Boston College, and coached in five NCAA Tournaments, two Elite Eight's, and a Final Four with the Buckeyes in 1999.As a consultant, Rick has advised clients in areas including sports tech, higher education, and professional/international basketball.On this episode Mike & Rick his extensive journey through coaching, administration, and officiating. Jason Smith is in his first season as the women's basketball head coach at NAIA Tennessee Wesleyan University. He previously served as the head women's coach at Peru State during the 2023-2024 season and Cedarville University from 2021-2023.Prior to Cedarville Smith had a ten-year run as the women's head coach at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. He produced an impressive resume at Bryan where he is the school's all-time winningest coach. Smith guided the Lions to an overall record of 219-85 including a 157-49 slate in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. His teams claimed five regular season titles, four league tournament crowns, and made six appearances in the NAIA Division II National Tournament. Following his final season, Smith earned his third consecutive AAC Coach of the Year honor after his team posted a remarkable 78-7 record during that timespan featuring a perfect 64-0 conference mark. He produced nine consecutive winning campaigns.Jason previously served as the head men's basketball coach at both Calvary Bible College and San Diego Christian College. Tiffany Sardin is in her first season as the Women's Basketball Head Coach at Presbyterian College in . Brad Fischer is in his 13th season as the Women's Basketball Head Coach of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Fischer has won more than 265 games in his 12 plus seasons and guided the Titans to the NCAA Division III Championship nine of the past ten tournaments. Under Fischer's guidance UW-Oshkosh reached the Elite Eight in 2022 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2024 in addition to numerous second and third round appearances.Fischer earned 2014 and 2021 Central Region Coach of the Year honors from D3hoops.com as well as being named WIAC Coach of the Year four times. Fischer has helped UW-Oshkosh win 4 WIAC regular season titles in addition to 6 league tournament championships.Fischer has led UW-Oshkosh to at least 20 victories during each of his 11 full seasons. His 260 wins entering this season ranks sixth on the WIAC's all-time coaching list while his .785 winning percentage is fourth best among conference coaches with at least 70 wins.Previously, Fischer spent five seasons (2006-11) as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division II UW-Parkside. He also was an assistant for the UW-La Crosse women's basketball team from 2003-06 after beginning his coaching career at Western Wisconsin Technical College from 2000-01 and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School from 2001-03.Mike & Brad discuss the steps that were necessary to turn around a struggling Oshkosh women's program into a competitive force in Division III basketball.
