Send us a messageThere's something almost magical about a big moment - the energy, the build-up, the way everything aligns just right for a brief sliver of time. Whether it's a holiday like Easter, a powerful worship service, a performance, or even just a milestone in life, we often walk away from those experiences feeling inspired, full, and maybe even changed. But then… the music fades. The crowd disperses and the excitement dies down. The lights go down, and you wake up the next morning to something quieter, something more ordinary. And in that stillness, a question lingers: What now?In this two-part series, we're going to look at the “what's next”... whether it's coming down from a peak moment, stepping away from something big or meaningful, or moving into a new season… In this first part of our new series, we're going to look at the silence after the big moment - about the sacred in the “after.” Because when the music fades, what's left isn't emptiness - it's often the beginning of something deeper. And if we're willing to listen, the quiet can speak louder than the song ever did.

Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. The Vancouver Whitecaps continued one of the best starts to a MLS season in history by eliminating Inter Miami in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup last night in Ft. Lauderdale. Jordi Alba cut the aggregate lead to 2-1 early in the first half, but Vancouver broke the match open early in the second half with goals from Brian White and Pedro Vite. Sebastian Berhalter scored the last one to win the night 3-1 and the series 5-1. While lots of focus will be on the failure by Miami to get the job done, everyone needs to be praising this Vancouver team and giving them credit.Berhalter will miss the final due to yellow card accumulation in a rule that Concacaf absolutely must change. It's outdated to have players miss finals due to yellow card accumulation and most competitions have changed when the cards reset to avoid this. Players shouldn't miss finals due to accumulation and it has to change going forward for Concacaf.Inter, who hadn't scored in 3 straight matches while getting knocked out of the Coppa Italia and losing the top spot in Serie A, led twice at Barcelona yesterday in an absolute classic of a semifinal first leg. A goal in 30 seconds was followed up by an acrobatic flying volley by Denzel Dumfries. Barcelona showed all of their quality to come back to level the match before Inter regained the lead at 3-2. Barca came back one more time and it finished 3-3, setting up a must-watch second leg next week in Milan. Lamine Yamal, who isn't even 18 years old yet, showed why he has to be in contention for the Balon d'Or right now with his outrageous goal and overall impact on the match. Simone Inzaghi, Inter's manager, described him as a player who comes along every 50 years. On a day when both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's sides were eliminated in Champions League competitions, Yamal showed that he might be the next entrant in the GOAT sweepstakes with a legend-making sort of performance. Europa League semifinals start today with tiny Bodo/Glimt traveling to London to face Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United going to Bilbao to face Athletic Club. If the entire town that Bodo/Glimt calls home traveled to the match in London, they couldn't fill Spurs' stadium. But they've become one of the big stories over the past few years as they're dominant in Norway and have beaten Ange Postecolglu before when he was at Celtic. As for Manchester United, the pressure is on to win the Europa League in order to play in next year's Champions League and perhaps have the financial wherewithal to revitalize their roster and the club's future. The Carlo Ancelotti telenovela carries on with most everyone now saying that when the La Liga title is out of reach, then we'll get a resolution. The Clasico date on May 11 with Barcelona is like the next big circle on the calendar. Some outlets say that Brazil will wait on Ancelotti. Anything is possible at this point, with some even saying that Ancelotti might end up in Saudi Arabia at Al Hilal if their manager Jorge Jesus ends up becoming the Brazilian manager instead of him. Who knows?More Espresso on Friday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.

Welcome to today's sermon podcast, where we delve into the profound themes of faith, transformation, and spiritual security. We explore the human tendencies to seek comfort in worldly "pacifiers" amidst life's challenges. Through powerful biblical examples, from the Israelites' journey to the disciples' post-resurrection experiences, we learn the importance of moving beyond our comforting routines to embrace a fearless, bold faith in Jesus Christ. With compelling stories and a focus on the true source of security and transformation, discover how you can live boldly for God, empowered by the Holy Spirit. This sermon invites you to unlock the doors of spiritual confinement, to let Christ into every aspect of your life, and to boldly stand as a witness to His miracles and love. ---- With Pastor Mike Curry. When the Miracle Fades John 20:19-31 Main Idea: True transformation comes not from merely witnessing miracles, but from a personal "death and resurrection" experience with Christ that leads to a fearless and bold faith. Struggling with that constant urge to compare yourself to others in your industry? You're not alone, that nagging sense of comparison doesn't just affect how you feel, it can fundamentally limit what you build. In this episode we explore why comparison is so persistent for creative entrepreneurs and reveal the subtle mindset shift to make it finally fade away. Discover how leading with your natural strengths, instead of chasing industry “shoulds,” can transform your business from the inside out. I share real stories from you, listeners who've broken free from the pressure to fit in, found their unique superpowers, and have started building businesses that feel energising, authentic, and impossible to replicate. Key Moments: [02:13] The powerful responses from creative entrepreneurs who are embracing their unique strengths [04:32] Why so many creative entrepreneurs feel the weight of comparison and what's actually happening [06:28] How social media and standardised business advice create constant comparison [08:01] The additional ‘complication' as a creative [10:24] The transformative power of leading with your exceptional strengths [12:19] How focusing on your natural abilities creates distinctive positioning [13:34] The shift from convincing clients to connecting with the right ones [16:23] Creating your own momentum and rhythm in business [19:13] How building from strengths changes your relationship with challenges [22:39] Practical steps to move from comparison to confidence [23:28] The importance of aligning strengths with what your audience values [27:45] The broader movement toward more aligned ways of building creative businesses Notable Quotes: "When we're clear about our exceptional strengths, we naturally create more distinctive offerings. Instead of looking similar to everyone else in our field, we begin to stand out, not through gimmicks or clever marketing, but through the genuine uniqueness of what we offer." "Comparison doesn't just fade when we lead with our strengths, it becomes largely irrelevant. Because when you're building something that's genuinely yours, something rooted in your exceptional strengths, you're no longer on the same path as everyone else. You're creating your own." Costco is the new Target—and not just for bulk snacks. As Target's once-progressive halo dims under political pressure and plunging foot traffic, shoppers on both sides of the aisle are walking away. Meanwhile, a Texas judge defends free speech and drag, giving the green light for students to bring Draggieland back to Texas A&M. And finally, David Wallace makes the case for why gay bars still matter, even if straight people treat them like novelty nightclubs. Identity, retail, and resistance—it's all on tap. People think happiness comes from getting everything you want. But the science shows, it's the absence, the novelty, and the change that bring joy back - Tali Sharot Ever wonder why lasting happiness can feel so elusive? This episode delves into the neuroscience of habituation, and why our brains, despite achieving desires, tend to filter out positive experiences. We'll explore this phenomenon and uncover practical strategies to consciously re-engage with what's already good in your life. My guest is Dr. Tali Sharot, a cognitive neuroscientist and professor at University College London, where she directs the Affective Brain Lab. Tali's research blends neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral economics to study how emotion and motivation shape decision-making, memory, and belief. Tali's work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The BBC, and her TED Talks have been viewed over 15 million times. We talk about her research behind why we adapt so quickly to both the good and the bad—and how this helps us survive, but can also rob us of happiness, creativity, and even the desire to change. This is the crux of her book, Look Again: The Power of Noticing What Was Always There, co-authored with Cass Sunstein. If you've ever wondered why joy fades faster than it should—or why we stop seeing the beauty around us—this conversation offers a fresh perspective on how to disrupt that pattern. Some highlights from the pod: Tali's research background and the Affective Brain Lab Research insights into human–AI bias feedback loops Habituation: How our brains are built to ignore what doesn't change Why the mechanism that makes us resilient also makes us take good things for granted The problem of perfection; and getting everything you want Dis-habituation —and how to apply it to relationships and daily life Happiness and the evolutionary role of novelty How to use imagination and attention to rekindle joy and gratitude Why people with depression often struggle to recover—and the role of rumination How learning and effort unlock happiness Refreshing the familiar: Savoring, small changes, and role-play This is one of those episodes that can help you feel more alive—not by adding more to your life, but by changing how you see what's already there. Enjoy!
Donald Trump met El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele at the White House today. Both men say they have no intention of returning an undocumented migrant who was illegally deported to El Salvador's CECOT prison. That's despite a court order demanding the Trump Administration bring Kilmar Abrega Garcia back. In fact, the presidents are now exploring plans to send US citizens to that notorious prison too.

Let's be honest—some of us worship for the applause, we worship according to the beat of the music, and when the music stops, our worship also becomes silent. Some worship to appear holy. Every Sunday morning speaking in tongues, which according to scripture is the evident of the holy spirit dwelling in you, but every Sunday night you are cuddled up fornicating. We live for likes, retweets, claps, friend requests, shoutouts, and emoji hand-raises in our social media comments. We measure our worth by the volume of others instead of the value God already placed on us with the sacrifice of His life at the cross.Matthew 6:1:“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them…”Let me give it to you straight:If your praise needs an audience, it's not worship—it's performance. But when it's real—when it's divine—you can worship in silence. You can worship with tears. You can worship with an eviction notice in one hand and hope in the other. That's worship. Send us a textKristy Russell takes us on a deeply personal and professional journey through the world of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). As Utah's sole specialist covering the entire state, Kristy shares how her grandmother's Lewy body dementia diagnosis transformed her perspective on memory care after initially swearing off working with dementia patients due to challenging experiences. The conversation tackles misconceptions head-on. Memory loss is just one symptom — thinking, behavior, and problem-solving abilities are equally affected. Kristy reveals a startling reality: only half of people with Alzheimer's are diagnosed, and of those, merely 30% share their diagnosis with loved ones, often fearing loss of independence.Communication emerges as the cornerstone challenge for caregivers. Through vivid examples, Kristy explains why arguing with someone with dementia about recent events is futile. Her "filing cabinet" metaphor brilliantly illustrates how memory works — newest files disappear first — helping caregivers understand why their loved ones can't simply "try harder" to remember. For overwhelmed caregivers, Kristy offers practical wisdom about delegation and self-care. "The energy you put out is the energy you're going to get back from the person with dementia," she notes, emphasizing that seeking help isn't failure but excellence in caregiving. She explains respite options and encourages caregivers to maintain their own health appointments and activities.Looking forward, Kristy shares hope about new medications like aducanumab that can remove brain plaques in early stages, signaling a positive trajectory in treatment development. Her powerful closing message resonates deeply: "You're doing a good job and you're not alone."Whether you're caring for someone with dementia, working in healthcare, or simply seeking to understand these conditions better, this episode provides invaluable insights, practical strategies, and heartfelt encouragement for the journey ahead.• Kristy's journey from swearing off dementia care to becoming Utah's statewide ADRD specialist• Only about half of people with Alzheimer's disease are diagnosed, and of those, only 30% share their diagnosis with family and friends• Early diagnosis allows for better planning and less crisis management as the disease progresses• Communication challenges require meeting people with dementia in their reality rather than constantly correcting them• The "filing cabinet" memory metaphor explains why recent memories disappear first• Self-care for caregivers includes delegating tasks and utilizing respite services• New medications like aducanumab can help in early stages by removing brain plaques• The Utah government's WISE initiative focuses on helping seniors age in place independentlySupport the show

I. The Old Cold War Targeted Communism in the West and the USSR as its Source II. The New Cold War Targets China and the BRICS III. Trump/Musk Target the US Working Class and its Allies IV. Scientists sound alarm over troubling phenomena forcing them to 'rethink' everything 'Predictability has become more challenging'The Cool Down, By Chelsea Cook, on February 14, 2025https://www.thecooldown.com/green-tech/unpredictable-climate-patterns-shift/ In the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns and rising climate change risks, scientists are sounding the alarm over how outdated models are failing to provide accurate forecasts for extreme weather events. Researchers are struggling to adjust their climate models in the face of shifting ocean currents, unprecedented flooding, and the overall volatility of weather. These challenges are making it difficult to prepare for natural disasters that are disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities.Despite the urgency for enhanced research and preparedness, political pressures and budget cuts are undermining the very institutions needed to address these growing climate risks. Powerful corporations have consistently ignored or downplayed the significance of climate change, focusing on short-term profits rather than long-term solutions. This has led to a precarious situation where climate uncertainty looms large, and scientific institutions, underfunded and under attack, are struggling to guide us toward meaningful solutions. As one speaker highlights, "The chickens are coming home to roost," echoing a sentiment that the consequences of our current inaction will soon become unavoidable. As these extreme weather events become more frequent and severe, it's essential for policymakers to prioritize research and funding to better understand and mitigate the effects of climate change. However, this is increasingly difficult in a political climate where corporate interests are driving decisions, and scientific efforts are being hindered. In response to this urgent situation, there is a call for increased public involvement, from supporting climate-friendly policies to reducing individual carbon footprints through lifestyle changes. Yet, as discussed, the real key lies in corporate responsibility and the government's role in funding and protecting climate research. Until these larger systemic changes occur, the battle against climate change will remain a monumental challenge. The Non-Prophets, Episode 24.9.4 featuring Cynthia McDonald, Infidel64, Aaron Jensen and AJBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-non-prophets--3254964/support.

The CHGO Bulls crew break down the Chicago Bulls 127-112 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon. Coby White started white hot, scoring 20 points by early in the second quarter. But he appeared to aggravate his wrist, and finished with just 26. The Bulls were within three points early in the fourth quarter, but the Pacers won the final frame 32-20 to secure the win. Peck, Big Dave and Will Gottlieb discuss another strong effort from Coby, who took over in the Bulls comeback win over the Raptors on Friday. Are he and Josh Giddey figuring out how to coexist? Plus, the guys react to the news that Ayo Dosunmu will have shoulder surgery and miss the remainder of the season.
