It's not always easy being a podcast host. Dr Laurie is stressed, making mistakes and blaming herself. When things go wrong, we're often our own harshest critics. So how can we tame this type of unkind self-talk? Luckily for Dr Laurie, Super Grover comes to the rescue - with tips on how she can talk to herself in kind and compassionate ways that will help her manage her feelings, perform better, and feel happier. Sesame Street aired its first episode on November 10, 1969, unleashing on the world the likes of Oscar, Big Bird and our favorite, Grover. Eric points out that Stacy's imaginary friend may have just been her talking to herself, sending Stacy either back to therapy or in search of a vanilla cupcakes. On today's program they share favorite YouTube Channels; between Stacy and Eric's diverse interests, an interesting assortment is curated. Vance Dingfelder, or Lord of the Sandwich (at least at Dingfelder's Delicatessen) joins the call and talks about his kaiser rolls and tuna; a conversation that almost saw Vance jump through the phone to smack Eric! Later this week, SeaWorld Orlando will officially open their sixth roller coaster, Ice Breaker. This multi-launch coaster from Premier Rides is the new centerpiece of an area previously headlined by Wild Arctic. With a height requirement of less than 54" - it gives SeaWorld Orlando it's first "tweener" roller coaster, slightly more intense than Super Grover's Box Car Derby, but not quite the level of high-octane intensity of the park's "Big Three" of Kraken, Mako, and Manta. We're excited to be joined this week on the podcast by Rob McNicholas, a 22-year veteran of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, to talk all things Ice Breaker. We talk about SeaWorld's commitment to families, what it was like seeing a roller coaster complete, but not operating for nearly two years, and how Ice Breaker may actually have more air time than Mako. (Yes, it's true!)Ice Breaker opens to the public at SeaWorld Orlando on Friday, February 18. Passholder previews are currently on-going. “Housesitter” is as rom-com-y as it gets: jilted lover meets drastically, mismatched, kookie gal our protagonist is destined to love…. but are they?! Will they?! One giant bag of Chinese food and awkward boob touch later, Goldie Hawn's Gwen is instantly engaged to Steve Martin's Davis. If we walked away with one life lesson from this fluffy piece of super fluff, it's okay to lie. You'll get the girl, the house, and the promotion. Go on now, lie. Frank Oz said it's okay. Frank Oz, the voice of Super Grover, tells us it's okay to lie.starchitect: Alex Sklar
We're rocking it old (pre)school and talking about a celebrated trio of Sesame Street superheroes! Does the vigilantism of Super Grover do more harm to the fabric of society than good? Is Captain Vegetable secretly in the pocket of Big Veg? Does Teeny Little Super Guy have a secret superpower in his killer soundtrack? Why the hell doesn't Anthony like Pigs in Space!? Captain Vegetable has suggested a more streamlined test to see if someone is a superhero: will they eat a carrot? Man, this has seriously streamlined our process going forward.

Mind Grapes: The Vancouver Public Library has been challenging its staff to read diverse books, and Sam is endeavoring to win the challenge! While she's won a few points with Ms. Marvel, she's hoping to get a few more with Erika Johansen's The Queen of the Tearling. To add to this, Alli recommends The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N. K. Jemisen, but doesn't want to spoil anything because it's too good. Instead, Alli offers a review of the second season of Daredevil, the second season of Broadchurch, and listening to the audiobook of Alan Cumming's memoir Not My Father's Son. NERD ALERT!: Sam got to go to Emerald City Comicon, but this year, wearing her librarian hat/flag. She along with friends of the show Erin Fields, Melanie Cassidy, and Anne Gaines gave a panel discussion titled "Research for Writers, World Builders, and Other Types of Nerds" that showed people the power of library-related research. It was a hit - full house, lots of great questions, and the chance to show the power of libraries in a new light.
