On this episode we have on musician Josh Fiedler who you might know from his bands The Juliana Theory, Pack, or Lowrev. We talked about Third Eye Blind's self title being the perfect ending to an album, albums played in the van, being a dad to three kids, getting ready for a kid to go to college, working full time, choosing when to play shows, recording an album at home, releasing his first album as Lowrev, being the focal point of a band for the first time since high school, and how losing his dog made him write a song about it. Josh's album as Lowrev is called It's Hard to Lie To Strangers and will be out on Equal Vision Records on June 26 this summer. Send us Fan MailFollow us on Facebook and Instagram and TikTok YouTube. In this week's episode, guitarist Josh Fiedler sits in to discuss the writing and recording of The Juliana Theory's 2003 single “Do You Believe Me?” Taken from the band's major label debut album Love, the song is a powerful and driving rock song that sounds just as good today as it did upon its release, thanks in part to the production of producer Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads fame. During this conversation, Josh unpacks the songs unique structure and many nuances that make it both stand out and stand the test of time. Ron brings a strong business perspective, encouraging business owners to reset, look at what others are doing and then find a meaningful point of difference. Peter, Ron and Karen discuss contracts, non-compete clauses, customer relationships, product knowledge and the value of working with the right specialists. The conversation closes with a reminder that success comes from knowing what you do, knowing how to do it and getting the right support when needed. Piše Iztok Ilich, bere Aleksander Golja. Roman Iskanje sledi Pavla, pozneje Paula Blache, avstrijskega pisatelja čeških korenin, je za slovenske bralce dvakratno presenečenje. Najprej zato, ker je bil avtor leta 1925 rojen v Mariboru, kar je bilo znano le redkim raziskovalcem preteklosti mesta ob Dravi. In nato zato, ker se je – potem ko so ga Nemci v Mariboru mobilizirali in poslali na rusko fronto, kjer je bil ranjen in zajet – petdeset let pozneje, leta 1994, vrnil v rodno mesto.

We break down how the government shutdown affects healthcare access, why there are major Medicaid cuts, and what trade-offs come with the new tax cuts. The conversation highlights the challenges faced by low and moderate-income individuals in accessing healthcare, especially in light of new administrative requirements and potential loss of coverage. We also talk about what this means if you're self-employed or run a small business. With shifting healthcare policies and tax laws, good bookkeeping and clear financial records matter more than ever. It's part 2 of our dive into the Insect Apocalypse, with our good friend Dr. Jason Dombroskie from the Cornell University Insect Collection! In this part, Jason fills us in on the drivers of the Insect Apocalypse and - most importantly - what we can do about it.This episode was recorded on August 21, 2025 at Rattlesnake Hill Wildlife Management Area in Dalton, NY.. Episode NotesDuring the episode, we made the claim that 40 million acres of the US is lawn, and that that area is equal to all of the country's National Parks put together. True? Well, sort of. The claim that the U.S. has about 40 million acres of lawn—roughly equal to all our national parks combined—is only partly true. A NASA-funded study led by Cristina Milesi estimated that turfgrass covers about 128,000 km² (≈31 million acres) of the continental U.S., making it the largest irrigated “crop” in the country (Milesi et al., Environmental Management, 2005; NASA Earth Observatory). Later analyses and popular summaries often round that up to ≈40 million acres (e.g., Scienceline, 2011; LawnStarter, 2023). By comparison, the total land area of all officially designated U.S. National Parks is about 52.4 million acres, while the entire National Park System—which also includes monuments, preserves, and historic sites—covers about 85 million acres (National Park Service, 2024). So while lawns and parks occupy areas of similar magnitude, lawns do not actually equal or exceed the combined area of the national parks. Is it better to mulch leaves on your lawn or leave them be? Here's what we found: It's generally best to mulch your leaves with a mower rather than rake or remove them. Research from Michigan State University found that mowing leaves into small pieces allows them to decompose quickly, returning nutrients to the soil and reducing weeds like dandelions and crabgrass (MSU Extension, “Don't rake leaves — mulch them into your lawn”, 2012). Cornell University studies similarly show that mulched leaves improve soil structure, moisture retention, and microbial activity (Cornell Cooperative Extension, “Leaf Mulching: A Sustainable Alternative”, 2019). However, in garden beds, wooded edges, or under shrubs, it's often better to leave leaves whole, since they provide winter habitat for butterflies, bees, and other invertebrates that overwinter in leaf litter (National Wildlife Federation, “Leave the Leaves for Wildlife”, 2020). The ideal approach is a mix: mow-mulch leaves on grassy areas for turf health and leave them intact where they naturally fall to support biodiversity and soil ecology.
Liga. Warum hält man dennoch an Trainer Markus Fiedler fest?
PODCAST INTRO: I enjoyed my time with guest, Liz Fiedler Mergen. She's a remarried widow, mother of 2 daughters and has a multi-layered business strategy that encompasses several businesses. To me, it is all rooted and balanced with her fearless entrepreneurial creativity. Liz and I agree that grief changes you in countless ways and as much as we may want things to go back to the way they were, they never will. How can they? We've lost a significant portion of our life. Liz and her first husband, Ryan met when she was 22, fell in love and married in 2014. They wanted a family and were blessed with their first daughter. But sadly, they would only have 6 1/2 years together. Ryan, at 39 years of age unexpectedly passed away at home, alone on his treadmill. To add more trauma to her shattered heart, Liz discovers that she's pregnant one day after Ryan's funeral. Not traumatized over being pregnant, but heartbroken that Ryan will never meet his daughter, nor will she meet her daddy and being a single parent was never in her life plans. One of the significant motivators of transformation for Liz was the realization that she could stay bitter or get better. She chose, get better. She engaged the hard questions, evaluated the cost of living angry and despite the pain, she pushed forward to discover that she isn't afraid to draw new boundaries, set new standards and start new businesses. She's exploring life, options, opportunities and breaking ground (personally/professionally) in countless ways. Liz has an encouraging perspective on finding her way through the pain, embracing new revelations of who she is as she grows through the various challenges and pain points with personal discoveries in all the many facets of her life. Listen in to find out that widowhood is not the final chapter in her story, my your story and even your story. Liz's example gives us the courage to discover that there is even more to life because God is the author of our stories. He always has a plan and fulfilling your purpose has only begun. You've heard me say many times before…keep your eyes on God because He's writing a much bigger love story, an overarching love story with you as the unique person He created you to be and Liz, with the life she is choosing to cultivate is a beautiful example of that. Let's listen in and be encouraged today! The day after his funeral, I found out I was pregnant again. Widowed and pregnant at 31 years old, I spent the first six months in a state of rage and anger, continuously growing more upset when people treated me like either a fragile flower or a bomb about to explode. After months of therapy, I learned to focus on the intention behind people's words rather than get upset when they didn't approach a situation how I wanted them to. Grief can be isolating, but we grievers can't shut out everyone who says or does the “wrong thing”. One day, I decided to focus on the intention behind the sometimes poorly delivered sentiments because I realized if I ended every relationship when someone said the wrong thing, I would not have any friends left. I was glad they did not know what I was going through. Every day I wake up and say to myself, "I'm not going to waste the day being angry. That's not fair to Josh." It takes so much work. I know that anger is a normal part of grief. I can't control the way the world treats grievers, but I can control how I respond. My podcast, instagram account, book club, and other resources are all devoted to helping it be easier for others to grow through grief.
In this episode of I Am Refocused Radio, we catch up with comedian, writer, and viral content creator Shannon Fiedler—just as she hits the road for her hilarious Pregnancy Brain tour. With over half a million followers online and her debut stand-up special Thirty, Flirty & Crying still cracking people up on YouTube, Shannon joins us to talk about the comedy behind the chaos of real life.ABOUT SHANNON FIEDLER After announcing her pregnancy via her iconic social media personalities, the "city girls", comedian Shannon Fiedler is heading back out on the road for her Pregnancy Brain tour, kicking off January 25 in Minneapolis, and hitting Denver, Portland, Seattle, Beverly, San Francisco, San Diego, before wrapping things up in NYC in April. Fans can expect a night of laughs delivered with the social media star's trademark wit, enthusiasm, and spot-on understanding of what makes millennials laugh out loud.Fiedler recently debuted her first stand-up special, Thirty, Flirty, & Crying, September 25, via YouTube. The dynamic hour of humor was produced by Hoff Studios, along with a female run production directed by Laura Lucchetti and Executive Produced by Jayme Yarow. Thirty, Flirty & Crying is a smart and sometimes silly exploration of what it means to be a woman who's recently turned that number after 29. With riffs on such universal topics as the horrors of dating, the pressures of ordering the right wine, and the inherent dangers of using public restrooms, Shannon strikes multiple chords with both male and female fans alike. The overarching theme of, "I'm too young to be this old," informs the hour, as Shannon shares glimpses of the path that has led her to being the very funny, and utterly likable woman she is still in the process of becoming. Shannon Fiedler is a New York based comedian, writer and content creator who has amassed over 500k followers on social media. Known for her relatable - albeit exaggerated - characters, Shannon distills ordinary situations to their most entertaining essence. In addition to touring the country performing, Shannon was named a Comic To Watch in the 2023 NY Comedy Festival, and her work has been featured on various media platforms, including BuzzFeed, Barstool Sports, Overheard New York, Betches, and Gratzia.
