Bonds: They're often known as the “boring” part of a portfolio, but they serve a critical purpose in helping investors manage risk and generate steady returns. And we have questions: With interest rates rising and the economy in flux, is now a good time to invest in bonds? How do inflation and the Federal Reserve's decisions impact bond yields? And should you buy individual bonds or stick to bond funds? In this episode, we're joined by Eric Jacobson, Director of Manager Research at Morningstar, to break down everything you need to know about bonds in 2025. We're going back to basics — and by the end of this episode, you'll know exactly how bonds should fit into your financial plan. Looking for more financial confidence?
In this video, Eric Jacobson and Joseph Ricci of the Battle of Franklin Trust tour the battlefield, including the famous Carter House with its preserved bullet hole wall. On this hallowed ground, 28,000 Union soldiers under General John Schofield dug in and held on against Confederate General John Bell Hood and his 27,000 boys in gray. The American Battlefield Trust and our members have saved more than 181 acres at the Franklin Battlefield.
In November 1864, Confederate General John Bell Hood is looking for a counter to losing Atlanta to Union forces. He sets his eyes upon Central Tennessee to try and bring some strategic ground back to the South. Dr. Chris Mackowski is joined by special guest Eric Jacobson, CEO of the Battle of Franklin Trust, to detail the Battle of Spring Hill.
The acquisition of a new piece of property at the heart of the Franklin battlefield in November continues the rehabilitation of a field once given up as “lost.” Eric Jacobson, CEO of the Battle of Franklin Trust, joins the Emerging Civil War Podcast for a discussion about one of the greatest success stories of the modern battlefield preservation movement. David Wright and Mark Radulich present their The Muppets ABC 2015 TV Review! The Muppets (stylized as the muppets.) is an American sitcom that originally aired on ABC from September 22, 2015, to March 1, 2016. Co-created by Bill Prady and Bob Kushell, the series was produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio, with Randall Einhorn and Muppet performer Bill Barretta serving as executive producers alongside Prady and Kushell. On May 12, 2016, ABC cancelled the series after one season. The series is set in Los Angeles and depicts the everyday personal and professional lives of The Muppets during production of Up Late with Miss Piggy, a fictional late-night talk show starring Miss Piggy. The Muppets serves as a parody of other mockumentary-style series, such as The Office, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation by employing the same single-camera setup filming style with the implication of a documentary crew filming everyone. The series stars Muppet performers Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, David Rudman, Matt Vogel, and Peter Linz in multiple roles.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsosnapchat: markkind76FB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich

We also learn about "Good Eye Focus" and ask Sesame Street Muppet Performer Ryan Dillon (Elmo) a question about NOT puppets!

The Knights — Before Christmas (Bright Shiny Things) Jump to giveaway form New Classical Tracks - The Knights by “This album took as much time as building the perfect dessert or pastry over the course of years,” said Eric Jacobson, conductor of the Knights. “Yet at the same time, it's meant to make people happy and be that taste you love so much.” Over the past 20 years, Jacobson has created a sense of trust with the orchestral collective he co-founded, allowing different members to take the lead on special projects. Their latest recording, Before Christmas, is a perfect example and perfect pastry. It's the brainchild of Christina Courtin. She's a violinist with the Knights, as well as a singer, songwriter, producer and engineer. Christina, why was this project important to you? Christina: “I've always been really interested in holiday records. I love Christmas records. I love listening to that music. When Eric approached me about doing it, I was really excited, but also a little nervous. It's like your best friend giving you the keys to the Porsche.” Who is the biggest surprise guest on this album? Christina: “Anthony Ross Costanzo, because I personally don't have a relationship with him. I was unsure if he was going to work with me. We recorded him singing first, which was kind of unusual. Usually, the band will record first and then the soloist gets to overdub on top of that.” Eric: “There was a freedom in his singing because he got to record it with his own pianist. The orchestra then had to listen many times to get his inflections and be an organ, breathe and a string section at the same time. That was really fun.” Can you talk about the inspiration behind the piece “The Kazoo”? Christina: “I'm a big fan of Wu Man. For me; there's a lot of humor in music. I thought of this and started laughing. I thought it was so funny. I was really surprised when she said yes. I wasn't sure she was going to agree to it. I'm really happy, and I have a strong feeling about it. I really wanted to do it.” Can you talk about your arrangement of “Little Drummer Boy” for folk group I'm With Her? Christina: It was challenging because there was one member of that band, who will remain nameless, who was dead set on not singing ‘a-rum-pum-pum-pum.' She was OK with the song, but she just was opposed to that part of it. So there's no a-rum-pum-pums in this version of “Little Drummer Boy.” To hear the rest of my conversation, click on the extended interview above, or download the extended podcast on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts. For the past 10 weeks you've listened to Jarrod and Joe surprise each other with guests, performing interviews with literally zero preparation. It's been chaotic, insightful, terrifying and extremely fun. This week our hosts are together again to wrap up the first season and give you some of the inside goss. How do we schedule these things? How do we deal with timezones? Which potential guests said no? Which celebritie's publicists said no on their behalf? Listen and find out who had internet so bad that they disappeared for 45 minutes, which interview Jarrod performed with during very first migraine, which guests made us most nervous, how long we chatted off mic with Eric Jacobson for, and whose father did Paul Williams video chat with?

Correspondent Tom Wilmer visits with Eric Jacobson, CEO of the Battle of Franklin Trust . Jacobson talks about the last major battle of the Civil War, The Battle of Franklin in Middle Tennessee, November 30, 1864. He also shares insights about the complex legacy of the Civil War—from advances in medicine to the advent of the KKK. How the 1915 Hollywood film Birth of a Nation and the 1939 debut of Gone With The Wind propelled the advocates who believe that the war was actually a “War of Northern aggression”. But most importantly Jacobson shares his optimistic faith in the critical thinking skills of the generation of Americans who came of age in the post civil-rights era.
This week Joe surprises Jarrod with some guy named Eric Jacobson. If, like Jarrod, you'd never heard of him, he plays small time characters like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Sam Eagle, Bert, Grover and recently took over Oscar the Grouch from the late Caroll Spinney. Eric has been one of the core Muppet performers for almost 20 years, and has worked on every Muppet production in that time. He has sung with Celine Dion, done sketches with Seth Rogen, and has read books with Michelle Obama. Now he's hit a career high, talking with two guys on a podcast. Listen as we discuss the recasting of legacy characters, tailoring Miss Piggy to each appearance, the varying intelligence of Fozzie Bear, how Sam does nothing in Muppets Most Wanted, plus much more!
In the modern age, we expect to be able to turn on our computers, enter in a ticker, and know the actual price of a financial instrument, such as a stock or a bond. But this is easier said than done, especially with bonds, and especially with bonds that are infrequently traded. Sometimes, in fact, bond pricing is a matter of opinion. At least that's the contention of Maciej Kowara and Eric Jacobson, analysts at Morningstar, who published a report earlier this year titled “Bond Pricing: Agreeing To Disagree.” They explain why there can still be disagreements about what a bond is actually worth from one firm to another.
Composer and cellist Paul Brantley is a five-time MacDowell colony fellow who has also received fellowships from the BAM Center and the Anderson Center. Brantley was a Manhattan School of Music artist faculty from 2000 to 2014, and he was invited to give a composition seminar at Yale University in 2012. He is also the director and cellist of the newly formed Mercury Chamber Players.

Corrections & Listener Mail Corrections The Chapeau Shop on Main Street has come up on the show multiple times, regarding the old time phone. We recently received word that the phone was broken...So sad. Hopefully it will be back up and working soon. BREAKING: As of 8/15/2018, we have received pictures and tweets of the phone back in working order. Check it out now! The Contemporary Resort 3rd floor has been investigated! How visited a few weeks ago and gives his take on what is going on with this floor. The catering offices, fitness center and a few other things are discussed. Another 3rd floor comes up, this time from the Canada Pavilion in Epcot. How gives us some information on what is going on here and where to locate this area. Listener Mail Kylee writes in about the various products we have promoted. She has purchased so many of them and we thank you for your support! Diane wrote us about how she listens, keeps a running list and then refers to it during each trip. Such a neat idea to keep track of the things you want to see. Eric Jacobson brought up his neighbor restoring a small scale, sugar plantation railroad in his yard. This led to some discussion regarding regional railroads, terminology and other train facts. Very cool! Mike was our next email, discussing a WDW model in the post-show room of the Walt Disney story at the Magic Kingdom. How gets into this one, as he knows the model. This was for Disneyland and we get into what was included on this particular model. Thank you for all the emails, tweets and comments you have sent our way. We try to respond to almost everything and do our best to pick unique questions for the show. Audio Rewind Our audio rewind this month turned out to be The Adventureland Background Music! Huge thanks to Chris for joining us and thank you for all the trivia guesses. Main Topic Communicore West We are finally back with a full episode! After some interviews, mini-episodes and an event announcement, we felt we owed you a solid EPCOT Center attraction. A little while back, we dedicated some time to Communicore East on Episode 38. This month, we veer right (If you are going through the main entrance) and take you to Communicore West. Todd gets us started with some information on Earth Station and where it was originally planned for. The Fountain of Information is discussed, which included road signs, neon, and anything connected to communication in a fountain type of sculpture. Touchscreens are brought up frequently, including the super advanced teleconferencing system, Face to Face. This setup allowed guests to look at a cast member who was standing in front of a green-screen; How & Todd lead us in some role playing to see how this all worked.A special guest joins us, Lisa Bastoni, who is the granddaughter of Walter Einsel. We invited Lisa on because her grandfather worked on something very neat: The Age of Information. Lisa was there during the design phase and we get some major insight into how her grandfather was hired and lots of other great stuff. This was an often overlooked exhibit of Communicore, but when you look back at it now the detail and predictions are amazing. Check out Lisa and her music, at www.lisabastoni.com - We have lots more to scan and share from her, so a huge thank you goes to Lisa! >> See Lisa's "Einsel Theater" video restored here
We hear more from Uncle Vance on next weekend's Fishing Has No Boundaries event in Bemidji. Plus, Eric Jacobson of Destination Sporting Goods gives us the hot bites for a Father's Day weekend of fishing!
Corrections & Listener Mail CorrectionsFirst off, we got a note about The Dutch Inn, with the "Sleepy Bear" - he would greet you as you entered the hotel. Very neat little tip about that chain of hotels. Another listener wrote in about the Vistana resort and how they were the first timeshare you could get into. We got lots of great memories related to Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Eric Jacobson wrote in about an article from 1985, regarding the EPCOT Center Polls. We go through some of the information related to this vintage poll from EPCOT and it also led write to a letter from Dan. Listener Mail Dan wrote in, a former cast member, about how he was "The Person of the Century". Basically, Dan messed this all up for Disney and he would tell people all day to "Vote For Dan". This led to a mysterious closure of this area, which we are guessing was due to our listener Dan. Such a great story, thanks for sharing! Next up, we heard from Christopher. He recently visited Fort Wilderness and sent us a picture of the original River Country Restroom sign. Such a cool gem that is leftover back there. Elizabeth wrote in regarding the third floor of The Contemporary Resort and the compressed floor. We discuss what we know regarding this, but we'd love to hear from some others. Such an interesting topic.... Reese touched base about a guard on Tom Sawyer's Island. She wanted some more information about this fort guard, which How is happy to offer. John wrote in with some artifacts, books, scans and lots of good stuff for us to share. Thanks! Finally, we had numerous listeners ask for the full radio loop from WDW. This will be coming soon and we have a plan, don't worry! Thank you for all the emails, tweets and comments you have sent our way. We try to respond to almost everything and do our best to pick unique questions for the show. Questions, Comments & Concerns We love feedback and hearing your memories! This will be given away next episode, so be sure to get your entry in before the big drawing!! Main Topic SkywayBrian starts us off with the Skyways, another attraction that is no longer around. We do a little bit of Disneyland history along with Skyway history in general. This episode takes you for a ride on the Skyway through our unique perspectives and memories. Most of us have ridden this one, so the picture we paint and the mechanical end of things we go into is quite detailed. Hope you enjoy!Swan BoatsThis is an interesting one, because none of us have ridden this one. Todd shares an interesting memory how his family used to love the Swan Boats and were super disappointed when it closed. How could have possibly ridden it, but we really don't know for sure. We go into the build history, mechanics, and of course what the ride consisted of. The Swan Boats have such a unique and almost lost history, there isn't much out there. When you look at the path of the boats though, it was a neat and relaxing attraction that I'm sure lots of our listeners would have enjoyed.

This episode we head to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World for The Muppets Present…Great Moments In American History. Located in the Liberty Square section of the park, The Muppets do retellings of famous moments from American History in the windows above Liberty Square’s Heritage House and The Hall of Presidents. Because this is a show there are no age or height restrictions to view it. Before we get an education in American History from Sam The Eagle, here are five fast facts about The Muppets Presents…Great Moments in American History. 1. The show debuted at the Magic Kingdom on October 2, 2016. Great Moments in History features two alternating famous historical retellings. The retelling of the Declaration of independence features the human character of Liberty Square’s Town Crier, James Jefferson or JJ for short, who solicits interactions from the crowd gathered to watch the show. The other show centers around the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and stars the Muppets on their own. 2. The show began development in 2014 after the release of Muppets Most Wanted. Originally the show was just going to feature Sam The Eagle on his own but it was decided that the show would be more fun if the other Muppet characters were added in. 3. Because the bulk of Muppets’ performance takes place in the second story windows of Liberty Square’s Heritage House, the Muppets puppets are built 5% bigger than they normally would be for film and television in order to be properly seen by audiences watching from below. 4. Longtime Muppet script writer, Jim Lewis, was brought in to polish the scripts for the show to make sure they fit with the classic Muppet sensibility. 5. Though they are not doing the puppeteering themselves, the voices of the Muppets are provided by longtime Muppet performers Steve Whitmire as Kermit, Eric Jacobson as Sam The Eagle, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear and Dave Goelz as Gonzo. Now let’s head to Liberty Square to hear The Muppets retelling of two great moment of american history, the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and The Signing of the Declaration of independence. And be sure to Stay tuned afterwards to hear my thoughts on these shows. Fifty years ago on July 17th, 1955...history was made. Even if you're only a casual fan of theme parks, this is the week to pay tribute to a man who had enough imagination to turn a California Orange Grove into "The Happiest Place on Earth". This week, CoasterRadio.com celebrates Disneyland's 50th Anniversary and pays tribute to it's founder, Walt Disney. To help us celebrate, we'll be joined by Eric Jacobson, Senior Vice President of Creative Development for Walt Disney Imagineering. Eric is responsible for directing project teams developing ideas, design, content, art direction and area development for the Disneyland Resort in California, as well as the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney-MGM Studios, sports and recreation, and other entertainment venues at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Most recently, his teams have focused on many attractions opening as part of the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" for Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Eric's creative leadership has shaped numerous projects, including Stitch's Great Escape, Mickey's PhilharMagic, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. In addition, he has equally influenced development of many additional projects for Walt Disney World Resort. Also on the show this week... our "Great Debate" segment will ask - what is the greatest Disney theme park attraction of all time? You can get into the debate by visiting our on-line forums. We'll also have another clue for the SOUNDWAVE contest and we'll play a special Disney-related version of Theme Park Trivia. It's all coming up on this week's special episode of CoasterRadio.com.
