In this episode of The Trade Talks Podcast, I sit down with Terrence Chan, a Canadian plumber, business owner, and content creator who's redefining what it means to be in the trades. From failing engineering school to building a thriving plumbing company, Terrence shares how he went all in on plumbing—and then flipped the script by launching a social media brand and a media company. We talk about the mindset it takes to grow, how he scaled his business with automation instead of headcount, and the hard lessons he learned from toxic workplaces. He also opens up about starting with nothing, learning leadership, firing friends, and why your attitude matters more than your resume. This one's for anyone who's ever thought, “There's more to this job than just turning a wrench.” _________________________________________________________________________________________________ A big thank you to HighLevel for sponsoring this episode of The Trade Talks! Today's guest on CPG is the co-host of DAT Poker Podcast and one of the OG online nosebleed end bosses, Terrence Chan. After finding himself in the world of gambling as a middle schooler and then running his own bookmaking business in high school, you could say it was almost destiny that Terrence fell into the world of poker. And it just so happened that as Terrence turned 21 and was bitten by the poker bug, he received an offer to move to Costa Rica & help build and grow a tiny online poker startup that I'm sure you won't remember… It was called something like “PokerStars”.At PokerStars, Terrence would find himself smack dab in the middle of poker history. In 2003, Chris Moneymaker was one of a handful of PokerStars satellite winners who played in the WSOP Main Event. And while you probably know the ending to that story, what you probably don't know is what went down at PokerStars HQ between the time they learned Moneymaker actually won and the few short months they had to prepare for the inevitable Moneymaker BOOM.Let's just say that if you could spell the word “poker”, there's a good chance Terrence was gonna offer you a job.So in today's show with the indomitable Terrence Chan you're going to hear stories about what it was like working with beloved legend of online poker Isai Scheinberg, how Terrence felt about leaving PokerStars so that he could find his limits in the world of professional poker, how he ultimately found himself locked in a cage and battling in the world of MMA, and much, MUCH more. Now, without any further ado, I bring to you one of the original online nosebleed end bosses & a human being who's shown time and time again that he's willing to fail while daring greatly… the one and only Terrence Chan.To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://freenuffle.comCPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt
This week, Doug Polk is locked-in after being paid out handsomely on his Grudge Match victory over Daniel Negreanu. Dara and David discuss the Twitter feud between Terrence Chan and Mike McDonald following a wager places with Pokershares on the upcoming Bill Perkins/Landon Tice heads-up duel. The pair then preview the upcoming Unibet Online Series and Unibet Open before welcoming Doug for some honest post-match reflections. The trio chat about the decisive nature of the win and how that deprived Dnegs of his dearly sought after narratives in defeat. They talk about Doug's preparation, his Scandi coaches and the software tools he used to train himself and analyse spots. There is also a wider discussion on the levels that exist in poker and the humility required when tackling the modern game. The interview ends with Doug promising to return to headline 'The Chip Race's 100th Episode Special so be sure to watch out for that!

My guest today on the Mental Game Podcast probably has about as varied a CV as you can imagine. Terrence Chan is a professional poker player, MMA fighter, former PokerStars employee, founder of Ultimate Poker and currently co-host of the 2+2 PokerCast. Because he has achieved so much in so many fields, I knew he was going to be very insightful about success and the learning process, but even I was surprised at just how educated he was on the topic of learning. If you want to take a sideways step from one career to another, Terrence is a brilliant example of someone who understands how to use what you already know to improve at something else.
