Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Episode 127 might still be hungover from the Thanksgiving holiday, but we're back with a roundup of all the news from the toys-to-life genre since our last show!    First we start with our normal banter, and do some VERY SPOILERY movie reviews. Eventually we get to the meat and potatoes of the show, starting off with the reincarnation of the Disney Infinity art style. We then cover Skylanders franchise news, before putting an official end to LEGO Dimensions. Finally, we break down the latest in amiibo, including the most anticipated cereal to date!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Finally, we wrap up with emails from the great folks in the community, doing our best to answer all questions thrown our way!   All this and more on Episode 127 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast!   Our Sponsors: SHOW SPONSOR - Devin Laschinski (YouTube: Macing On Gaming) Micheal O'Driscoll (@amiibo_Museum) Evan, TheLoneGoldfish (@TheLoneGoldfish). Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Episode 126 is an episode we never wanted to do, but we've seen coming for quite some time. Unfortunately, the cancellation of LEGO Dimensions is all but a formality now, despite the formal announcement probably never happening.    First we start with our normal banter, to lighten the mood a bit. Then we get right into breaking down the most recent story of LEGO Dimensions being killed off quietly without any fanfare - just as we have been predicting for months now. We wrap up the news with all the upcoming amiibo releases, such as Fire Emblem, Super Mario Odyssey, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild figures!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Better yet, we are joined by two of the best in the business, Ken and Adam from the Gotta Watch'em All podcast!   For a majority of the episode, we talk about all the highs and lows of Pokemon GO, which is still going strong. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Episode 123 was a long time coming, but thanks to the summer drought of news and information, as well as impossibly busy schedules, the wait for this episode was much longer than anticipated. Never fear, however, because we're back, and possibly better than before!    After the normal banter that starts every show, we get down to business. First, we talk about - shockingly - Disney Infinity, and more of what could have been. Then we laugh about the unpredictable Skylanders marketing team. We then break down the upcoming release of Wave 9 for LEGO Dimensions, and what that means for the franchise. And finally, we talk about the news regarding amiibo, including the newly announce Shovel Knight amiibo!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Episode 122 is our first show since the big amiibo release and Beasts of Balance Kickstarter launch, but all we really want to talk about tonight is Jason's trip to Southern California for the D23 Expo and Disneyland vacation!    First, Jason breaks down the highs and lows of his travel, his time at the parks, and the insanity that was the D23 Expo. When we get down to the news of the industry, we skip over Skylanders and LEGO Dimensions, as neither franchise has anything to report on. We jump over to amiibo, and break down the recent release wave of figures. Then we break down the newest tidbits from Lightseekers. And finally, we break down the incredible Beasts of Balance Kickstarter campaign, which they are totally crushing, and we plead ... #ReleaseTheJellyfish!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Episode 119 is recorded right on the heels of E3 2017, where tons of toys-to-life figures and games were shown off and discussed, getting the community of collectors excited all over again. While we weren't down in LA to experience the fun first hand, we hope this episode will still do justice to previous E3 episodes we've done!    First we talk about Skylanders, which got a mention from the big boss of Activision himself, giving some hope to the fanbase. We discuss the E3 presence for LEGO Dimensions, and what their continued silence of Year 3 might mean. We break down the 13 new amiibo announced by Nintendo, which was plenty of excitement for all fans. But really, the meat and potatoes was all about the wild amiibo of Hyrule, for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.   First, we tried making sense of the missing Cursed Tiki Temple for Skylanders. Then we broke down more rumors about LEGO Dimensions, and talked about some fun packs breaking exclusivity. We SWITCHED over to amiibo, talking about a weird Breath of the Wild glitch, as well as the soon to be release Mario Sports Stars amiibo cards. We also covered the Kickstarter campaigns of SwapBots and Oniri Islands, which are both doing great!    In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. That's something special.     After hearing all about the magical engagement, we finally get to the news. For Episode 109, Jason is MIA so we turn to a returning co-host to help push the show along and make it fun and enjoyable - Valerie Striplin! As per the norm, nothing about the show goes quite as planned, but thankfully Val brings her enthusiasm and bubbly personality, her jokes, and yes, even her grudges, and lays them all out on the line for this episode, which is on Switchmas Eve!     First we say goodbye to the online servers for Disney Infinity, before chatting about the new wave of Skylanders Imaginators to hit store shelves. Then we break down the rumors of LEGO Dimensions and why that game hits our nostalgia so perfectly. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

For Episode 108, we start off by learning a very, very valuable life lesson that everyone can appreciate. Eating a giant plate of nachos only a couple of hours before boarding an airplane is NOT a good idea, in any way, shape, or form. Of course, we only learn this because Jason took a bullet for the entire community, and we couldn’t thank him enough for his sacrifices this past weekend.     Even though we didn’t allow for a full week’s news cycle, we still do our best to bring you an episode full of every bit of news we can. We chat about playing LEGO Dimensions in movie theaters in Canada, Skylanders Switch Starter Packs in the wild, and the awesomeness of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo. Most importantly, however, we break down and explain the HUGE announcement of the partnership between Toys”R”Us and Lightseekers, bringing the upcoming game to retail store shelves!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

For Episode 107, we decided to class the joint up a bit. With the release of the LEGO Batman Story Pack for LEGO Dimensions, it only made sense to invite a special guest on to the show who knows plenty about not just the game, but a variety of other things, such as (but not limited to): The Fast and the Furious, wrangling Kevins, community management, and especially, The Rock. As far as life choices, however, Joey Noelle from Kinda Funny may have a bit of work to do.   That’s right, we got the Kinda Funny Community Manager to join us this episode, as Joey Noelle brought her immense love for LEGO Dimensions, as well as plenty of laughs and good conversation, to make for one awesome show. After getting to know Joey better and chatting about a myriad of topics, we eventually covered the news for the toys-to-life community. We chatted about Fire Emblem amiibo, a new Skylanders Imaginators patch released, our Disney Infinity Community Game Nights, and the finally-revealed packaging for Lightseekers!   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

For Episode 106, we couldn’t even think about recording until the big meeting in Activision HQ took place, as the fate of the Skylanders franchise hung in the balance. Once the dust settled, however, we jumped right in, bringing not only the Skylanders update, but every other bit of news from the toys-to-life genre, to the show for you, the listening audience. Skylands may be in trouble, but Toys For Games is not!   We kick off the show discussing Jason’s globetrotting plans (what’s new), and his birthday, which just so happens to be celebrated by the holiday of love as well. When we get to the news, we start off with a recap of the Disney Infinity community game nights, before discussing the release of LEGO Dimensions Wave 7.5. Then we chat about some amiibo, and invite a couple of special guests on - in the middle of the show, without any warning! From there, we gush about the handcrafted Space Eagle from Beasts of Balance. Finally, we break down the big Skylanders news from Activision’s investor’s meeting today, and what it possibly means for the fate of the franchise.   In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Finally, we wrap up with several great emails from the great folks in the community, doing our best to answer all questions thrown our way!   All this and more on Episode 106 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast!   In Episode 105, Jason makes his triumphant return to the show, just in time to help discuss a whole bunch of news from the toys-to-life genre. BUt first, we have to do what we do best - go on tangents! What decent episode of the Toys For Game ‘Cast wouldn’t have any good tangents, right? Oh, and we also have this weird problem trying to figure out how to pronounce this one specific word. Some folks say “March” while others say “May”. It’s really strange.   When we start getting into the news (believe me, we do), we start off with a full rundown of the upcoming Disney Infinity Community Game Nights, which hopefully we serve as the last hoorah for the game we all love and adore before the servers official shut down. We then discuss the big Skylanders news in regards to their Netflix show. In LEGO Dimensions, we get hung up on the official reveal of Wave 8.   We also chat about some upcoming amiibo and some teases of possible amiibo in the works. Also, despite not being able to talk about almost anything, we say all that can be said about the top secret Lightseekers figures in Jason’s possession. So many secrets!   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 105! Executive Producer: Jorge Torres! Breaking from the norm is crucial to keeping the community on their toes, and when we decide to switch it up for a change, we go all the way with it. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jason was unable to make the show for Episode 104, which meant we had to pull up the unofficial third member of the podcasting team to the coveted co-hosting chair … Matt Sonnenberg! Who expected that switch, huh?   Because of the very successful Second Annual Toys For Games Award Show held last week, it has actually been two weeks since we dumped a truckload of toys-to-life news on the listening audience. Episode 104 didn’t hold anything back, as news from all the major franchises - yes, EVEN Disney Infinity - needed to be talked about and broken down on this show! We talked about Avalanche Studios, Hermione being shown off in LEGO Dimensions for the first time, Skylanders anchoring the Nintendo Switch launch, and all the new and exciting amiibo news to break over the last couple of weeks.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 104! The best use of lemons is to make lemonade, and that’s exactly what we do with a slow news week here at Toys For Games. Acting as a pre-show to the Second Annual Toys For Games Awards next week, and in the middle of what is typically a slower time for news, the highlight of Episode 102 easily has to be the passion and electricity for what turns out to be a true love story.   Starting off in the news, we discuss the continued confusing nature that is the Disney lawyers, Skylanders day at GameStop this coming weekend, a bizarre sale of LEGO Dimensions, the long wait for the Switch announcement on Thursday, and the awesome looking Lightseekers beta figures. But most importantly, we wax poetic about the best looking figure in the history of Skylanders - Pain-Yatta! Yes, Pain-Yatta is BAE, no questions asked.   We also break down every single category and all the nominees for the Second Annual Toys For Games Awards, to be held on January 19th. There were a few categories and nominees that needed a bit more explanation than the voting page explains, so we took the time, as the last show before the Awards, to lay it all out for you, the community.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 102!   Executive Producers: Jorge Torres! We’re back and better than before! Okay, maybe that might be debatable, but after a couple week hiatus because of family, the holidays, and travel, the world’s number one toys-to-life podcast has returned in its purest form! The break was much needed, but it came with a price, as the rust from not recording weekly definitely shows. Regardless of the side of the hill we flew into multiple times, we kick off 2017 with a bang, as we discuss plenty of toys, some of which have gone rogue.     After catching up with each other, since we haven’t spoken in what feels like forever, we eventually get down to the news, which started off with the biggest surprise of the new year thus far. That’s right, we got some Disney Infinity news to talk about, and it was a treat for sure. We also check in with the familiar franchises of LEGO Dimensions and Skylanders, as well as discussing Nintendo’s upcoming plans. Also, less we not forget the newcomers to the news cycle, as we discuss Beasts of Balance, Toyji, Lightseekers, and present a new product to keep an eye out for in 2017, PlayTable.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 101! Well, we’ve done it. We’ve reached the final episode in the double-digits, as we make the home stretch towards the big Episode 100! As per the norm for this time of the year, exciting news items are hard to come by, but that’s never stopped us before. Aside from talking about amiibo boxes, and BOXBOY amiibo, we also cover the hard-hitting topics, like McDonald’s Holiday Pies, cross-country traveling, and the best cookies in the world. Look, we may have 99 problems, but a box ain’t one.   Getting to the news round-up, we discuss the full release of Wave 3 for Skylanders, and some more evidence pointing towards the end of the game as we know it. We also talk about the relaunch of Marceline the Vampire Queen for LEGO Dimensions. We break down the functionality of the Legend of Zelda amiibo in Breath of the Wild, as well as the newly announced BOXBOY amiibo. Oh, and there might be a little soapbox moment regarding the box art for upcoming amiibo. Also, we give our continued congratulations to Beasts of Balance for so many wonderful reviews coming through about the game since launch.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 99!   Executive Producers: Jorge Torres!   Our Sponsors: SHOW SPONSOR - Devin Laschinski (YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Dlasch2) James Holian (@InfinityMuseum) Matt Sonnenberg (@SCLMatt) from SkylandersCharacterList.com and Facebook.com/SkylandersCharacterList Micheal O'Driscoll (@amiibo_Museum) Christopher Long (@clong83), from Long’s Toys. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

With a vacation and the Thanksgiving holiday, we ended up taking a little break from recording, meaning Episode 98 was almost two weeks in the making. And trust us when we say, we missed you all dearly, but the break was much needed. Besides, in the gap between episodes, tons of stuff happened in the toys-to-life genre, including a huge rumor that could spell the end of a beloved franchise, but also might mean that a certain company brings back the dragons.     We start the show by catching up on what we’ve missed the last couple of weeks, including our Thanksgiving holidays and a trip to Southern California to visit friend of the show Brett, Disneyland, and Universal Studios. A lot has happened in our lives since the last episode, and while most of it has nothing to do with the toys-to-life topics, it was important for us to get our groove back, as they say.   Getting to the news round-up, we start off by talking about the elephant in the room, Skylanders. With a separated Wave 3 slowly making its way to retailers, and a new chase variant being discovered, the biggest news came in the form of a credible rumor detailing the alleged cancellation of the Skylanders franchise. While it is still a rumor, and should be taken with a grain of salt, we do our best to breakdown what we know, don’t know, and expect from the allegations.   After that, we break down the upcoming release of the four Legend of Zelda amiibo this coming Friday. We also discuss the success rate of fans getting Green Arrow figures for LEGO Dimensions, as well the unpredictability of Arthur Parsons. Finally, we gush non-stop about Beasts of Balance, which we finally have in our hands, because it’s so beautiful, and amazing, and fun, and thrilling, and … did I say beautiful? Yeah, Beasts of Balance is everything we hoped for, and then some.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener (or two!) a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 98!

Yes, we did just do a show just a couple of days ago. No, we aren’t crazy to put out a turn-and-burn episode so quickly afterwards. Despite not having a bunch of news to fill our time on this episode, we decide to do you - the listening audience - one better and give you a very special episode. In Episode 97, we talk to the creators and developers of an exciting new entrant into the toys-to-life genre, called Toyji, which is aiming its innovative and unique blend of gaming and education towards a younger audience that hasn’t been reached out to properly … until now.   We kick off the show by getting to know the Toyji team, diving into what makes this new toys-to-life game the first smart toy platform out there. We learn about the customizable characters, the innovative game pad, the game world itself, and why exactly the target demographic for Toyji - families with kids ages 3-8 - should be excited about their upcoming Kickstarter campaign. For all the information regarding Toyji, check out their website, and be sure to sign up for their mailing list!   Getting to the news of the week(end), we discuss why the Lightseekers team has a tank, and a crazy idea for a Beasts of Balance expansion. We also chat about the Super Mario Maker 3DS port dropping amiibo support, and the Classic NES hysteria. We break down the final Skylanders Imaginator glam shots to be released and an impending Jingle Bell Chompy Mage release (among others!). Finally, the biggest news yet, is the release of Green Arrow - FOR FREE - to GameStop customers on Black Friday buying ANY LEGO Dimensions product. How cool is that?!   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

What better distraction from the world around us then a podcast all about toys and video games? Well, Episode 96 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast is exactly what you need. As we speed ahead faster and faster towards Thanksgiving - and of course Black Friday - we break down all the upcoming deals in the toys-to-life franchises, and trust me, the genre is going to be lit on Black Friday, as the cool kids would say.   We start off with the “Jason’s Crazy Life” segment, before giving out thanks to all the help and support for the Extra Life 24-hour stream. When we get down to the news, we start off with the first (and only) look at what would have been the Beauty and the Beast figures for Disney Infinity. Then we break down the upcoming sales for LEGO Dimensions, and talk about the potential look of the Hermione Granger figure.   Then we break down the awesome job of the Lightseekers team to finish their Kickstarter campaign strong, as well as check in on the shipping of Bests of Balance games. Heading back to Black Friday, we break down all the known deals thus far Skylanders Imaginators, including the perplexing Portal Owner’s Pack going on sale soon. Finally, we break down the recent amiibo releases as well as the final 3 Smash Bros. figures and when we might see them.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. Trick or Treat! Okay, we may be a day late for randomly asking for candy from strangers while dressed up in costumes, but that doesn’t mean this episode is lacking the goodies or the debauchery. We have a jam-packed show for Episode 95, full of Halloween and Hippogriffs, and so much more. There’s cause for celebration, soap boxes to stand on, and plenty of candy to over-indulge in.   Before we get to the actual show, we chat about trick-or-treating on Halloween, the Cubs potentially winning Game 7 of the World Series, and what to expect from the Extra Life 24-hour livestream this weekend! Eventually we start talking about what we know best, and that’s the toys-to-life franchises we love. We celebrate the Lightseekers team reaching their goal on Kickstarter, even though there is still time to pledge to their campaign to help them reach their stretch goals! (Lightseekers Kickstarter campaign). Then we laugh about how awesome the Beasts of Balance team is, especially with their real time ship tracking technology.   Then we break down the upcoming amiibo releases, as well as theorize about the Animal Crossing Direct, and what might be announced during that. We discuss the big reveal of a Hippogriff being included with the Hermoine Granger Fun Pack in LEGO Dimensions, despite only one of us knowing what that even is and why it’s a big deal. And finally, we discuss the release of Skylanders Academy on Netflix, the Legendary Creation Crystals, and the best lineup of variant figures in a Skylanders game to date!   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We skip the Inquire This! segment this week, sadly. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Look, we can’t always have exciting, big news weeks within the toys-to-life genre, right? As much as we would love to have a packed show full of awesome topics, sometimes we just have to work with the lemons given to us and make lemonade out of them. Besides, with The Great Pumpkin waiting just around the corner, it’s only fitting that this episode is full of more tricks than treats. As David S. Pumpkins would say … ANY QUESTIONS?   We start off by checking in on the Lightseekers Kickstarter campaign with less than 10 days to go, and we are encouraged by how close they are! Oh, and we may or may not send a desperate plea to the team to possibly allow us to drive their tank. We then break down the newest update to the LEGO Dimensions Collection Vortex app, since it’s the best option we have for keeping track of our collections (*cough*). Then we break down the newly-announced Nintendo Switch and what that might possibly mean for amiibo. And finally, we talk about the best holiday variant for Skylanders and get excited for the upcoming Skylanders Academy show coming to Netflix this weekend.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We then try to stump the experts with the Inquire This! trivia question which is perfectly timed for the Skylanders Academy series. And finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 94!

Well, we made it through another big launch day for the toys-to-life genre, as did many in our great community. That’s right, because as straight as the crow flies, Skylanders Imaginators came straight at us, and overall, it was a pretty fun release overall. Because of that, we had to bring back a world-renown Skylanders expert to help us break it all down, as well talk Harry Potter, crazy fundraising ideas, and sub-par Western themed video games. That’s right, it’s the return of fan favorite, Matt Sonnenberg from SkylandersCharactetList.com!   First, we check in on the Kickstarter campaign for Lightseekers, as they reach the halfway point in days but are more than halfway to their monetary goal. We discuss the amiibo restocking, as well as a new bluetooth NFC reading device which we speculate will bring amiibo support to the NX and possibly even smart phones and devices. We also chat about a newly released screenshot of Sonic the Hedgehog and friends in LEGO Dimensions, and also the newly released LEGO Harry Potter Collection remastered for the PS4.   Finally, we break down the entire launch and release of Skylanders Imaginators. We tell our stories about hunting down everything (or most everything) that released, give some impressions about the game and the figures so far, and yes, even talk about the now infamous GameStop Girl. Long story short, so far so good with Imaginators … and we couldn’t be happier!   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. We then try to stump the experts with the Inquire This! trivia question, which might have been the hardest and most surprising question to date. Finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 93! Executive Producers: Jorge Torres! With the release of the newest Skylanders game - Imaginators - right around the corner, we knew we had to make Episode 92 special in some way or another. With the sea of options for fans of the franchise about to released on Sunday, we brought in yet another expert to help make heads and tails of the Imaginators launch. Matt Sonnenberg, from SkylandersCharacterList.com, was kind enough to join us two knuckleheads and fully reunite the 3 amigos for a classic episode of the Toys For Games ‘Cast.   We start off by getting to know Matt, for those in the audience who may not be too familiar with the voice behind the world-renowned name and international superstar. Sure, Matt is the man behind the most comprehensive Skylanders fan site out there, but there’s so much to Mr. Sonnenberg.   After reuniting with Matt, we get down to business by discussing some news, speculation, and hype - all in regards to amiibo! Then we talk about LEGO Dimensions, where Matt filled us in on how he’s liking the second season of Dimensions. Then we gave a real-time update for the Lightseekers Kickstarter campaign. (Check it out HERE). Finally we talked about some recent news for Skylanders, and did a full breakdown on what to expect com October 16th … the launch day for Skylanders.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Episode 91 has been a few weeks in the making, ever since we first heard of the new entry into the toys-to-life genre, Lightseekers! Going back to their initial introduction announcement about the upcoming mobile game/ toys-to-life game/ card game hybrid, we have been incredibly excited about Lightseekers. It was only inevitable that we had a formal introduction with the team behind the newest franchise to get regular coverage on the Toys For Games ‘Cast, as we talked about how Lightseekers is kickstarting the passion behind the game.   During the interview with a room full of great folks representing Lightseekers, we chatted about what exactly Lightseekers is, dove into the madness of how a card game grew from the toys-to-life figures, crazy whiteboards, the importance of building a community, a dino with a top hat, and much, much more! We also talked about the Kickstarter campaign that Lightseekers is beginning, and trust us - it’s exciting, and worth checking out!   After saying goodbye to our new friends, we got down to talking about the rest of the news from around the genre, including a random restock of amiibo with a retailer exclusive, LEGO Dimensions Waves 8 and & 9 starting to make sense, and the resolved mystery about the Creation App for Skylanders that will allow fans to bring their imaginations to life in physical form.   From there, we read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. Then we tried to stump the expert with a trivia question submitted by the community for the Inquire This! segment. Finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, as always!   All this, and more, only in Episode 91! Executive Producers: Jorge Torres! Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

As we’re beginning to finally start enjoying the Fall season - with the exception of a pesky sinus infection - the changing of the leaves and the dropping of temperatures can only mean one thing … new releases! While we may not be getting the same type of new releases this year as we did in 2015, it’s an exciting time for the toys-to-life community nonetheless. Not every launch can be perfectly smooth though, and even though LEGO Dimensions promises to “break the rules,” Wave 6 seems to breaking more than the rules, unfortunately.     We start off with some typical banter before getting down to the nitty gritty of discussing all the news from the previous week. First, we talk about some Disney Infinity news, and it’s quite bittersweet to have that franchise back on the show. Then we hype up the Customs for a Cure custom amiibo charity auction hosted by Nintendo Wire. We discuss the continued awesomeness of the Lightseekers team and their continued communication with the community. We jump over to Skylanders and talk about some cool bundles available now and some crazy blunders by Activision. Finally, we break down the launch of LEGO Dimensions Wave 6 - both the good and the bad.     From there we grabbed our Pumpkin Spice Lattes, read the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. Then we tried to stump the expert with a trivia question submitted by the community for the Inquire This! segment. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

If there is a podcast that is better at going off the rails quicker and more often than the Toys For Games ‘Cast, we’d love to know, because Episode 89 is one for the record books! With the first official day of Fall, ‘tis the season for new releases, including Season 2 of LEGO Dimensions right around the corner.   Despite trying to steer the show right into the side of the mountain before we even got going - because, you know, mascots - we had a bunch of news to cover this week. First, we talked about the Monster Hunter amiibo and the mysterious Bayonetta amiibo tease. Then we broke down the upcoming Season 2 of LEGO Dimensions, including the newly announced Wave 7.5. Over in Skylands, we ran through tons of random news, leaks, and tidbits about Imaginators. Finally, we praised the continued efforts of Lightseekers to officially join the toys-to-life genre.     We then broke down the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. Then we tried to stump the expert with a trivia question submitted by the community for the Inquire This! segment. Finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, including a first-hand report from EGX!   All this, and more, only in Episode 89!   Executive Producers: Jorge Torres!   Our Sponsors: SHOW SPONSOR - Devin Laschinski (YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Dlasch2) James Holian (@InfinityMuseum) Matt Sonnenberg (@SCLMatt) from SkylandersCharacterList.com and Facebook.com/SkylandersCharacterList Micheal O'Driscoll (@amiibo_Museum) Christopher Long (@clong83), from Long’s Toys. The moment you all have been waiting for is here! That’s right, it’s the return of Jason to the co-host chair, as he makes his triumphant return for Episode 88. While the world famous - sometimes infamous - toys-to-life podcast is back to its normal form, we had a special topic on this show. Join us on our new adventure into the toys-to-life, as we explore Tantos, seeking the light.   As always, we broke down all the recent news from the tentpole franchises we love to talk about. Before we got to the fun community interactions, however, we got to gush about a new game entering the gaming space we all know and love, which we are just learning about along with the rest of the world. Lightseekers, an ambitious new franchise hoping to bridge the many gaps in the toys-to-life space with refined ideas of how gamers interact with their games.     After learning all about Lightseekers, we jumped over to the #CommunityQuestion and awarded a listener a cool prize for having the Response of the Week. Then we tried to stump the expert with a trivia question submitted by the community for the Inquire This! segment. Finally, we wrapped up the show with some fantastic emails, several of which were in regards to Lightseekers as well!   All this, and more, only in Episode 88!   Executive Producers: Jorge Torres! Do you remember President FDR? You know, Franklin D. Roosevelt? Well, if you’re a year or two too young to remember the man, you probably don’t know that he is responsible for creating the concept of fireside chats. While FDR’s solo broadcasts were usually about fairly important issues, Episode 87 of the Toys For Games Cast is quite similar. You know, if FDR had been talking alone into a microphone about his yarn dog named Poochie, that is.   With Jason unable to make it for the episode, the “deep bench” of co-hosts nowhere to be found for the evening, Josh does his best with a mic and some toys-to-life news to make lemonade out of the lemons he was dealt. Thankfully, plenty of news, including an avalanche of amiibo reveals, combined with great community interaction, made for a somewhat decent episode.   I mean, it’s no FDR quality of broadcasting, but if there was a modern day equivalent, “A Boy and His Yarn Dog” has to be it, right? It may be a relatively slow news week, but that doesn’t stop us from recording Episode 86! Before toys-to-life discussions, however, we talk about some television show recommendations for everyone to enjoy while we all patiently wait for the games we look most forward to playing. Jumping into the news, we talk about a potential upcoming guest for Disney Infinity fans, a potential restock of the Palutena amiibo, new showcases of Battle Arenas in LEGO Dimensions, and Skylanders Imaginators trophies. Oh, and we also talk about a little quote made in regards to the decision to lock battle classes to Creation Crystals - “A sea of options.” The #CommunityQuestion asked about “cash grabs”, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week. The Inquire This! segment was meant to be tricky, but the most recent Patreon Hangout proved to help the expert. And finally, we had plenty of great emails from the community. With all due respect to the fastest man on Earth, Usain Bolt, it was off to races for news from the toys-to-life franchises over in Gamescom. With the impending release of Year 2 for LEGO Dimensions, Skylanders Imaginators, and eventual new waves of amiibo, it’s no wonder that news is starting to come in hot and heavy about all of our favorite franchises.   Before we get started, however, we had to talk all about Hamilton, and how everyone should at least give it a listen. After that, we checked in on Pokemon GO, despite the #PidgeyGate debacle. Eventually getting into the news, we saluted the farewell episode of Disney Infinity TV, which took place on the anniversary of the release of Disney Infinity 1.0. Then we talked about some curious amiibo + 3DS game bundles, and speculated what the inclusion of the amiibo reader might be about. We broke down the controversy surrounding the exclusive release of Supergirl in LEGO Dimensions. And finally, we did our best to cover the news overload about Skylanders Imaginators that came from Gamescom.   The #CommunityQuestion covered funny catchphrases, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week. The Inquire This! segment was a solid B, even for the hot dog expert.  And finally, we had plenty of great emails from the community. All this and more on Episode 85 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast! It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t have left you … without a strong rhyme to step to. Or a podcast to listen to, that is. That’s right, due to major technical difficulties, everyone’s favorite toys-to-life podcast had to step away from the mics for longer than expected, and much longer than we wanted. But don’t worry, because we came back for Episode 84 with a vengeance! Aside from the normal news beats we hit every week, we also talked about a resolved internet issue, upcoming plans, and yes, even the saddest news to come from this podcast!   Starting off, we have our now weekly Pokemon GO update, because everyone wants to know these things. Then we discuss the firesales of Disney Infinity that all mysteriously vanished at once this week. Then we talked about the new Z-Ring which isn’t amiibo, but it’s relevant at least. We explain how more folks internationally will be able to get their hands on the Green Arrow figure from LEGO Dimensions this fall. And finally, from Skylanders Imaginators … WE GOT KAOS, LIKE, FOR REALZ.   The #CommunityQuestion was discussed video game villains, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week … or two. The Inquire This! segment determined whether or not third time’s a charm for one listener trying to stump the expert. And finally, we had plenty of great emails from the community. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

It’s the dog days of summer, but the heat can’t slow us down on a Friday night full of madness and hilarity. We chat about discontinued fast food items, Santa being booed off the field, overpriced Olympic t-shirts, and an unforgettable and incredibly awkward Periscope from one of the members in our community! Don’t worry, toys fans, we eventually get down to brass tacks and talk about your favorite franchises as well.   Starting off, we have our now weekly Pokemon GO update, before jumping in to talk about the recently released amiibo display stands. Then we glide over to Skylanders to break down the nine new figures unofficially announced and some hilarious rumors from Sweden. We break down the Disney Infinity online server shutdown timeline, which is as big of a mess as you would expect it to be. Finally, we talk all about the news that came from San Diego Comic Con regarding LEGO Dimensions, including Sonic and Wave 7.   The #CommunityQuestion was a tad more emotional than anticipated, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week. The Inquire This! segment put the expert to the test about Skylanders Battlecast. And finally, we had plenty of great emails from the community. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

Slow news week? Not in the world of toys-to-life, especially in the week leading up to San Diego Comic Con! Waiting a day to record proved to be the right decision, as news continued to trickle in right up until we hit the record button - and even some while in the middle of show. If there’s one thing we’re good at, it’s accidently having the perfect timing.   We start out talking about some more of the Premium figures that might have been coming to Disney Infinity, as well as the new “Kingdoms” story mode that would have been in 4.0. Then we chat about Nintendo being unpredictable by adding amiibo functionality to a four-year-old game. We break down the massive four-figure leak of Skylanders Imaginators and the secret Battlecast cards found in cereal. Finally, we blow the lid off of all the recent news regarding LEGO Dimensions that’s coming in BEFORE the Comic Con panel. The #CommunityQuestion was amplified thanks to Greg Miller, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week. The Inquire This! segment put the expert to the test about older amiibo. And finally, we had plenty of great emails from the community. All this and more on Episode 82 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast! Even in the middle of summer, when the news isn’t coming in hot and heavy, we still manage to piece together one heck of a show. Thanks in part to some big reveals of more stuff that would have been coming to Disney Infinity, coupled with some Pokemon GO talk and other tomfoolery, Episode 81 turned into an instant classic. Be our guest, won’t you?   We started by talking about a LEGO Dimensions panel at SDCC hosted by Greg Miller, the newest amiibo release, Hood Sickle being sorta revealed by Skylanders, and of course, another healthy discussion about Disney Infinity. We talked about the most recent Premium figures reveals, as well as a ton of information about what else would have been coming to Disney Infinity in the upcoming year and for 4.0 later on down the road. The #CommunityQuestion was as fun as always, and we picked another winner for the Response of the Week. We didn’t have an Inquire This! question this week, but we did have plenty of great emails from the community. Episode 80 was a long time in the making, but after everything that has happened with Disney Infinity the last couple of months, now was the time to finally have an in-depth conversation with some special guests. Joining us on the podcast for a great Disney Infinity, we had Lloyd (@dasme) and Will (@iliam) from DisneyInfinity.tv, as well as @Infiniteering from Twitter and YouTube, or “Jim” as we came to know him. We discussed the cancellation of Disney Infinity, all the recently revealed figures that were coming next for the game, and so much more. We also made our guests stick around for emails and the #CommunityQuestion!   After saying goodbye to our three special guests, we got down to the news from our favorite four franchises, talking about the Premium Jack Skellington figure we’ll never get, confusing wording regarding Teen Titans Go! in LEGO Dimensions, alleged Skylanders prototypes, and some upcoming amiibo releases.   We wrapped up the show with a challenging Inquire This! trivia question that was sent in on a handwritten note, because how else would someone submit an Inquire This! challenge, right? All this and more on Episode 80 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast! Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life

After an incredibly busy week for both co-hosts, we finally settled on recording a Saturday morning podcast, because well, why not? To kick off this holiday weekend, we brought on a special guest to help explain the newest addition to the Toys For Games network - Sebastian Fortin, from Gotta Watch’em All! Sebastian breaks down what to expect from the podcast him and Ken have started to chronicle every episode of the Pokemon anime, along with everything else they have planned for this new branch of Toys For Games.   Oh, and there is a live unwrapping of a pack of Pokemon cards with an incredible find in it!   When we eventually get down to talking about the news from the toys-to-life franchises, we discuss the accidental leaks of never-before-seen LEGO Dimensions figures, a blurry image of a possible new Skylanders Sensei via Snapchat, the upcoming release of new Splatoon amiibo, and more reveals of figures and play sets that were on their way to Disney Infinity.   We still had a fun #CommunityQuestion, despite not getting it up until an hour before recording. There was also a very challenging Inquire This! trivia question. And of course, we also answered a bunch of great emails, as always, from the Best Community Ever. Well, we made it back from our adventures in California! After a week of covering all the news from E3, Universal Studios and Harry Potter World, and the two Disney parks - Disneyland and California Adventure - we have resumed our regularly scheduled lives back in the real world. Despite still recovering from the Butterbeer hangovers we had, we can’t help but do what we do best … podcasting about toys!   First, we announced the details of the first ever Toys For Games Battlecast Tournament, with sign-ups officially open! After that, we talk about the final release for Disney Infinity, Tails being left out of LEGO Dimensions, a Crash “expansion level” in Imaginators, and the first ever glow-in-the-dark amiibo!   As always, we enjoyed reading through the community question responses, giving away another prize for the best idea. We didn’t have the voicemail line set up tonight, but we still challenged the expert with an amiibo related Inquire This! trivia question! And of course, we also answer a bunch of great emails, as always, from the Best Community Ever.
